Reviews for Dormy Inn Kurashiki

Review 1:Kurashiki is one of our favourite areas that we always go back to. We have familiy in the area as well, so it's quite convenient. The hotel located, in a really good spot, also has a top floor (small, but cozy and clean) hot springs bath. Clean hotel, really nice staff, nothing to complain.

Review 2:Nothing particular, the service was calm and satisfactory.

Review 3:My stay at Dormy Inn came with many unexpected benefits such as free Japanese noodles, hearty breakfast, complimentary Onsen experience, and short walk to the historic area. Overall, there was nothing to complain about for this hotel.

Review 4:The beds were excellent, hard just how I like them. The onsen is open all night, so doesn't get too crowded. The rooms are expertly designed and super comfortable. By far the best value business hotel chain in Japan, and not owned by a far-right old joke like APA hotels either ;)

Review 5:At the beginning of the historical area of Kurashiki. Modern, clean and comfortable hotel. Single rooms are 'spacious' for Japanese hotels. Added extras: the public bath on top floor and free ramen after 9pm.

Review 6:The hotel is quite a walk , and it had been raining alot there in Nov Autumn month . Thus , walking to the hotel in the rain is no fun ! Onsen water of the hotel is so salty , that it affected our skin . Think it is near the sea, thus the water PH and content is very high.

Review 7:Walking distance form the station about 15mins . At the opposite end of station , there is a factory outlet Mitsui , did alot of our shopping there . Good varieties of sports wear and reasonably priced branded cold wear and daily wear.

Review 8:Nothing.

Review 9:Great staff, practícal location. Clean rooms and bath, no smoking and laundry machines very convenient when traveling for three weeks. Oh and great delicious free soup at 9pm

Review 10:Did not like the room at all. Had to crawl over my husband to get in and out of bed and there was obviously no bed side lamp on my side of the bed - there was a wall. This room was not meant for two people. Very uncomfortable.

Review 11:Public baths were awesome. Good breakfast, laundry facilities, helpful staff and great location. Other than the room the place was great.

Review 12:Halllway carpets are badly worn and looked dirty, same with the room carpets. They need replacing.

Review 13:Pleasant rooms, comfortable beds, good bed linen. The onsen was great! Excellent breakfast with lots of choice of Japanese and western food. All day coffee and ice tea available in lobby

Review 14:nothing..dormy inn exceeded our expectation

Review 15:the must see places of kurashiki are just right at the doorstep, service, value for money and the free ramen every night

Review 16:All of the above. However I could not use the onsen due to my tattoo which was disappointing. Otherwise, great hotel that I would highly recommend. Thank you for having us.

Review 17:Great location; very helpful and efficient staff; free soba at night ; cold drinks provided in Lobby; very nice onsen with washing machines provided for laundry ; overall great hotel!!!

Review 18:Cant think of anything bad.

Review 19:Well located business hotel with a few nice extras, such as free coffee in reception, lovely onsen on the roof, laundry facilities, a sensational buffet breakfast, both Western and Japanese with Natto (not available everywhere!) Friendly and polite staff.

Review 20:The location is perfect. You reach the canal within a few minutes. The onsen was so nice after a long day sightseeing. We even took advantage of the late night free bowl of ramen. Comfortable rooms, parking at a fee, great service... Highly recommend!

Review 21:We booked the standard double room, and like everywhere in Japan, the size is quite small when you're tall.

Review 22:The hotel is centrally located next to the historical centre. staff was very friendly and the hotel offers a free laundry service (only 100 yen for the dryer). Good free wifi in the room, nice and relaxing onsen after a long day walking. As well free coffee and ramen sercvice during the evening.

Review 23:Beautiful little town worth a visit. Staff of hotel very friendly and helpful, best breakfast, The onsen was top quality, and overall a little haven for a couple of days to chill out.

Review 24:Television in the room but no channels with movies or news.

Review 25:Very Good breakfast. free coffe in afternoon and free soup in the evening. Nice bath. Very close to the old city.

Review 26:• Breakfast is OK but perhaps not value for money • Double bed is perhaps too small for two Westerners

Review 27:• Well located for sightseeing • Has a compact but good Onsen facility • Offers good quality free Ramen in the evening!

Review 28:Nothing of note.

Review 29:Convenient for historic area. Handy laundry. Aircon worked great. Onsen and late night noodles would have been a big plus if only we had the time.

Review 30:Location.

Review 31:The location is perfect. Just a step away from the historic area. And the onsen bath on the top floor is so lovely!

Review 32:Insufficient Parking space

Review 33:Night time noddle and great breakfast

Review 34:Good breakfast. Loved the bath. Very convenient location.Kurashiki was lovely.

Review 35:A little dusty in the room

Review 36:Good services and have free supper offer

Review 37:Very good location, comfortable room, good breakfast for a reasonable price

Review 38:Best hotel out of the different ones we stayed during our 3 weeks around Japan.

Review 39:Non vegitarian free ramen but hey you can't have everything!

Review 40:Excellent onsen

Review 41:Nothing to complain

Review 42:Public batch with hot spring water Ramen noodle

Review 43:Roof top onsen is wonderful, the location is great, just cross the street to stroll historic Kurashiki.

Review 44:TV in the sauna!

Review 45:Small, but functional room. Friendly staff, nice spa.

Review 46:All good

Review 47:Location

Review 48:nothing !!

Review 49:Great value for price and perfect location !!

Review 50:No bad experiences at all!

Review 51:The delicious soba served from 9:30 - 11 pm was a wonderful surprise!

Review 52:Air con

Review 53:The onset bath!

Review 54:A little far from the Kurashiki train station

Review 55:Very clean room with nice Japanese style breakfast. Free ramen after 10 in the evening

Review 56:If night snack can be provided a bit longer till midnight it would be perfect

Review 57:Night snack

Review 58:Proximity to Train Station. Friendly staff

Review 59:Very helpful staff, very close to the old houses and canal which are beautiful at night, great Japanese breakfast with plenty of variety. Free washing machine,¥100 for dryer. Excellent Coffee Shops, Art Gallery and Museum in the Canal district. Modern Shopping in the Mall near the station.

Review 60:Breakfast buffet with the room is great! You cannot ask for anything better for around $10 (approximately). Helpful staff, clean room, convenient location, parking available. Highly recommend and would stay again.

Review 61:Baths were well kept and nice, and they gave us free ramen at night! I wouldn't say it's the tastiest one but it was still nice. The beds were super comfy too

Review 62:The window was locked, and I hate not having some natural air rather than air conditioning when I sleep. Perhaps I should have asked for a key to the window from reception (my door key did not fit).

Review 63:Almost everything. It is quite Japanese, rather than Western, which I also liked. The outdoor rotenburo and indoor onsen hotspring baths on the top floor were excellent.

Review 64:Would be good to have wifi in room rather than wired LAN.

Review 65:Located just across from entrance to Bikan historical area. Comfy bed, spacious room. Hot spring facility in hotel. Free noodles at night (9.30-11pm).

Review 66:Nothing at all

Review 67:This hotel had everything we needed at a really competitive price. It is spotlessly clean, has helpful staff and offers a really good breakfast (you can even get bacon and egg !!). It is also well placed both for the old town (across the road) and the railway station (not more than ten minutes walk down the main street)

Review 68:No wifi, but 2no. PCs provided. Air conditioning only, sophisticateddigital control console labelled only in Japanese, thus difficulty inachieving comfortable environment in room, as staff could not explainthe controls in English.

Review 69:Good location, beside Bikan historic quarter. Free spa on top floor.Free Soba noodle dish served at 21.30. Key information provided inEnglish (pamphlet), but excluded the working of air con controls.

Review 70:Located just opposite the tourist centre of Kurashiki on the right side of the main road leading from the station (look for parking lot sign at the top of the building). Onsen, largish rooms, good coffee- much better than the typical business hotel.

Review 71:Lack of english friendly menus! The restaurant staff were always extremely lovely though.

Review 72:Lovely onsen! Conveniently located and good value for money. Quaint town and great base to explore many areas from.

Review 73:There was not wi-fi avaible in the room but they have internet access near the reception

Review 74:Hotel is well-located, close to Bikan historical quarter. Staff were very hepful, even though most of them could not speak English they solved my problem about the transported luggage.

Review 75:10-15 minutes walk from the train station. And it's only across the street from Bikan historical area where the museum, shops and restaurants are located.

Review 76:My usual complaint - only a doona, no sheet or light blanket.

Review 77:Excellent location opposite the old tourist bikan area - just had to cross the road for a day's entertainment - traditional buildings, restaurants, cafes, galleries, museums, gift & craft shops, walk along the canal. The hotel had an onsen, which my son loved. This meant there was no bath, only a walk-in shower, which I loved

Review 78:Nothing!

Review 79:1. The hotel felt new, modern and well designed. 2. The room was large, very clean and aesthetically comfortable. 3. Service was great! 4. Fantastic location - on a quiet side street just 2 mins walk away from the Bikan old town and 10-15 mins walk away from the central train station.

Review 80:Located just opposite the Scenic area of Kurashiki. THe onsen facility on-site is excellent. Computer and free coffee is available at the lobby. Free ramen supper is available in the evening.

Review 81:Hotel room was pretty spacious compared with all the Western-stylehotels we stayed in while travelling Japan. The room looked fresh anduptodate and was a pleasure to be in. The bathroom was reasonably sizedand very clean. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. Internetis available for free on 3 computers in the lobby (usually had to pay inother hotels). Washing machine and detergent was free to use (on floornear public baths) which was a pleasant surprise - only needed to payfor driers and these were way more effective than others we had used.Public baths and massages were available although we didn't usethese. Hotel is next to a small supermarket which is handy. Less than 10mins walk from the train station - but also right across the road fromthe pretty area near the canal (and not far from any tourist sights). Was a real pleasure staying, if only for just one night.

Review 82:Room too hot and couldnt work out how to change tempertaure asinstructions all in Japanese. Also, fridge kept freezing everythingdespite having on warmest setting. Staff couldn't help much either, just said thats the way it is!

Review 83:Awesome buffet breakfast. Choice of Japanese and Western foods. Allsuper tasty. Clean modern rooms Great onsen and facilities Convenientlocation for old town

Review 84:The location was very close to the well-preserved old town. Convenience store right next to it. Not too far a walk from the train station.

Review 85:Great location within the historic area. Nicely done facility. Good breakfast!

Review 86:too generic no character

Review 90:The room was very small.

Review 91:nothing

Review 103:Everything was fine as expected.

Review 104:Amazing onsen on the top floor and very good location for having a nice strall in Kurashiki.
