Reviews for Costa d'Oiro Ambiance Village
Review 1:The area was blighted by unfinished abandoned blocks of apartments which was a shame because the idea of a "holiday village" seems a good one. However we were disappointed by the indoor swimming pool and sauna area which were very small and a bit scruffy, especially the pool.
Review 2:Dining room was very nice and the service was generally good as was the quality of the meals. All the staff were helpful and did their best to make us comfortable.
Review 3:No privacy and limited hot water. The twin room was poorly designed with an open shower, and toilet separated by only a glass door. No bathroom door. Would not recommend for two friends so check the room first.
Review 4:Fantastic breakfast and helpful staff.
Review 5:we found it a little far from downtown where all the restaurants are maybe a shuttle to town would be nice and also a coffeemachine outside would be a great idea so people dont have to wait so long for their coffee in the morning
Review 6:breakfast was great good variety of food nice to be able to eat outside room was modern and comfortable swimmingpool was nice didnt use gym but it looked nice overall we really enjoyed our stay
Review 7:There are only two coffee machines in the breakfast room and there are always long queues to use them. When one broke down, the result was chaos.
Review 8:The hotel was close to the beach. The deluxe studio apartment was very spacious, well equipped and clean. The buffet breakfast was very good and had an excellent range of choices.
Review 9:The location of the hotel, the room and the pool were perfect for us. Could not have got a better room, it was as if we had picked it ourselves. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Review 10:Nothing to dislike
Review 11:Although not exactly as pictured, this hotel is beautiful. The room we had was very large, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We had not only a private terrace, but also a private upper terrace on the roof. The staff were very kind, attentive and helpful. They had a wonderful bottle of wine waiting for us as we were celebrating on wedding anniversary on this trip. The breakfast is outstanding, so many choices with hot food as well!!!! The location is close to the beach, Praia Dona Ana Beach (five minute walk), which is where we wanted to be. It is a must to take a private boat (you can rent someone right on the beach) to see and go through the beach caves in the morning on the coastline --- incredibly beautiful and fun. Within walking distance, as well, you can hike above the caves/coastline and enjoy spectacular views. The walk to the center city is approximately 20 minutes, downhill going there. There are some great little restaurants before the center city, you'll see more locals in these areas - great prices for large amounts of great food. The beach area is pricey to stay in, but we felt this was well worth the stay and we would happily return here again
Review 12:Our studio apartment was immaculate with excellent facilities. Comfortable bed bathroom clean and all extras provided. We wanted something that was authentic in architecture and feel of being in Portugal. The place we stayed in the night before here could have been on the Goldcoast in Australia and because we are Australian we were in Europe to have those cultural European experiences.
Review 13:The breakfast was lovely, but there was too many people. They need more coffee machines, as there was always a queue and the area was very congested. Also would have been nice to haver a kettle in the your room.
Review 14:The block we were in was new, the place was clean and very comfortable.
Review 15:We had a 1 bedroom apartment and did not look like in the photos online. Also, the apartment was located 10 - 15 min walking from the reception and we weren't made aware of this before or after booking. The scenery wasn't that nice either - we had to walk through some deserted construction sites and the ocean view promise from the apartment never happened :)) So, the hotel mixes a bunch of very good photos but don't expect the same. They also do not offer transportation service from/to bus station although they should given the high price of the rooms.
Review 16:The food was delicious, especially the breakfast. Everything one could wish for and more with a lovely view. Staff very friendly and helpful. At a short distance from all major hot spots - beach D Ana and Do Camilo as well as the city center.
Review 17:No explanation as to how things worked by the receptionist. Terrible view of half-built, abandoned concrete hotel.
Review 18:Surprisingly well designed and decorated room
Review 19:The swimming pool in our houae had just the size of a big bath tube. The swimming pool at the main building very small as well. The distance from our place to the main building (where breakfast was served) was some 800 meters. We had a car but otherwise it would have been annoying to walk back and forth.
Review 20:Room was not what was shown on booking website, much darker and old. Floors were dirty, bathroom was tiny, spackling left as is on ceiling - they didn't even bother to paint over it so it matched. The closet smelled like mildew. Octopus salad at breakfast was good on the first day but spoiled the days after. Neighborhood is questionable.
Review 21:Close walk to beach. Parking available.
Review 22:Tv channels in english were limited. There were probablt only two that were in English which were both news channels which was quite disappointing. Water pressure could have been better in the shower.
Review 23:Overall had a fantastic 5 night stay here. Staff were very friendly and villa was great. Place had plenty of room with a small balcony and decent kitchen. Bed was big and comfy. Place is 5 minutes walk from my favorite beach in Lagos. It was a 20 minute walk from town which was fine for us, it also meant it was quiet at night. Plenty of restaurants around between the place and town if you didn't want to walk that far and mini supermarket just around the corner.
Review 24:We really liked to stay at this hotel. It was spotlessly clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast had a great selection ....yogourt, fruits, cereals, different types of cheeses and cold cuts..... scrambled eggs with bacon bits etc. About 10 minutes walk away we could find the most beautiful beach and we were also able to walk along the coast and admire the rock formations and the fantastic coast line.
Review 25:The residence is beautiful. Location perfect, at walking distance from "Praya Dona Ana" and "Praya do Camilo" and city centre easy to reach in 20 minutes walk. Best breakfast ever, quality and quantity excellent, possibility to have breakfast outside, in the terrace. Friendly and helpful staff. Will absolutely recommend, excellent value for price.
Review 26:The property was beautiful and located close to the most beautiful beach but still a close walk to town. The breakfast was fabulous and the staff were friendly and very helpful.
Review 27:Excellent breakfast! Great with self catering facilities. We were back, after visiting in 2013. Pleasantly suprised over how sprused up the place was. And the wifi was vastly improved - excellent!
Review 28:We stayed in a brand new room in their new building and there were still work men on site so a bit noisy sometimes (probably more noticeable because the area is generally so lovely & quiet) but the hotel gave us a complimentary bottle of wine for the inconvenience which was a nice gesture and the ace was starting to look fabulous as the week went on.
Review 29:Room very spacious and clean room - lovely pool areas, 5 mins walk from beautiful Doña Ana beach and 10 mins from Camilo beach. Friendly & helpful staff - fabulous breakfast. Free beach towels and parasol. 20 mins from centre of Lagos - easy walk and not too close to the hustle & bustle.
Review 30:No proper parking lot (under construction at the time), but there are plenty of parking places on the street. The room door not well isolated, therefore can be a bit noisy when the neighbours leave or come back to their rooms.
Review 31:The breakfast is awesome with a lot of choice, the hotel has to swimming pools that can be used form 8 - 20. The complex has a small village like feeling.
Review 32:There were workers living below our room and were very noisy at night which was uncomfortable (they stopped at 11:30PM so didn't prevent us to sleep). Room 53
Review 33:Very nice facilities, nice staff, few kids so very calm, excellent location. Food was OK but not great.
Review 34:Read above
Review 35:Everything! Must change the direction on website as arrived at alternative hotel to be told lots of others do the same! And the direction button on their website doesn't work !
Review 36:The bed wasn't too comfortable and did not have the best sleep ever.
Review 37:The location was perfect, away from noisy center of Lagos but walking distance. Great buffet breakfast and nice staff.
Review 38:Staff and facilities were excellent. I liked the gesture of the champagne on my girlfriends birthday whilst out there. above and beyond in my opinion.
Review 39:We didn't like the lack of directions to get to the hotel. It took us one hour to find the ''unsignaled road'' to arrive at the private house where we saw a small sign at the door.
Review 40:Our suite had a large balcony with a view of the pool and beautiful bouganvilla bushes. Both the living room and the bedroom had access to the balcony. There was a nice kitchen, which was fully equipped, although we did not use it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had the best breakfast of all the hotels we stayed in throughout our month-long stay in Portugal and Spain! This included being able to eat al fresco, by the pool. The hotel was nicely located near the beach and within walking distance of local bars and 3 or 4 restaurants. Parking was free and on site.
Review 41:extremely bad wifi, breakfast room did not accommodate all customers during rainy days and some had to wait for some time outside or in the bar.
Review 42:location is great, great staff
Review 43:The location was a little remote from the town and the main beach. The local beach was very small and extremely crowded. It was necessary to get a taxi to the main beach. It is a 15 minute walk to the town and because the walk back is very hilly it is really necessary to get a taxi back to the hotel in the evening.
Review 44:The facilities in this complex are excellent. The rooms are very comfortable with sun loungers just outside the terrace and a private pool for each complex. Breakfast was excellent and was served over a very generous 3 hours
Review 45:Nothing
Review 46:The cleanliness of the hotel and how it was split into smaller units. Whilst it was a 15 minute walk into the old town there was quite a few restaurants close by that were equally as good and less expensive if you don't feel like the walk
Review 47:Dogs barking from neighbouring villas.
Review 48:Friendly staff, cleanliness of rooms, including bed linen. Very good breakfast. Found the hotel very relaxing
Review 49:Unfortunately, our room was outside of the complex, but we have been offered a shuttle service
Review 50:Very good, clean, modern hotel. Kind and helpful personnel. Very good breakfast. Nice, clean and big rooms. Good location
Review 51:This hotel located 15 minutes from the nearest beach. it is difficult way to beach, Donna Anna. it is bearch is very small. all people sit on each other.
Review 52:Bathroom was oddly designed and shower area was very small. A bit under staffed so checking in takes time.
Review 53:Excellent location close to praia doña ana and other beaches. Rooms were excellent with a pool facing sit out.
Review 54:Breakfast could have done with a little more selection in the fried food area, continental is fine but gets a bit boring if your not into meat and cheese for breakfast. If that's my only complaint (and it is) then its not much of a complaint at all! :-)
Review 55:Great room, good service staff, friendly bar and restaurant staff who went out of their way to help. Portuguese food table in the breakfast area an excellent touch. Good location, quiet but close to everything.
Review 56:The grill organised by a hotel each Thursday was a mistake - overpriced and food way from this we got in restaurants in town.
Review 57:Location near two beautiful beaches, hotel facilities
Review 58:Wifi reception was poor in the appartment. Our room did not have a nice view, but on the other hand we had access to a large and beautiful terrace.
Review 59:Perfect location near Algarves most beautiful beaches. Fantastic breakfast!! Very friendly and helpful staff that enjoy taking care of their guests. Small but nice and clean swimmingpools. All together we are very satisfied and highly recommend this hotel.
Review 60:Breakfast and service requires a update, only small amount of hot food, and it would be a better standard if tables were laid up by staff, guests should not have to lay up own table. Water pressure in our room very low in shower.
Review 61:Room large and clean, location to beach, staff polite.good size car park next to hotel.
Review 62:Great breakfast on terrace. Good location in walking distance to beaches and Lagos old town. Good restaurant. Very friendly staff.
