Reviews for Tripinn Hostel Backpackers YHA
Review 1:Wouldn't recommend this place at all as it wasn't clean, everything looks very old, smells weird and covered by mold. We got a double room but spent our night in our sleeping bags at the top of the bed because linen didn't look like you want to lay on that. The building itself is nice looking and has a charming design but it needs a renovation.
Review 2:Staff was good and friendly, and free wi-fi is a great thing to have! Kitchen facilities are ok, lots of useful information in the lobby.
Review 3:Most squeaky bed ever. Matress was very uncomfortable, you could feel the springs inside it on your ribs. 100MB of free internet is a joke, but $5 will get you 2GB.
Review 4:Nice garden, parking.
Review 5:Our room was too small with harly any space to store luggage. Also it was next to shared bathroom and there was a lot of noise from people constantly slamming the bathroom door. The kitchen could be a little cleaner.
Review 6:The hostel is a beautifull old villa with a unique atmosphere. There is a spacious lounge and the staff is friendly. The location is pretty convenient, close to almost everything there is in the town.
Review 7:Got very busy in the kitchen, but may have been due to a coach party.
Review 8:Characterful house, modern rooms, lovely garden with hammocks and seating area, log fire and comfortable longe.
Review 9:Bit strict with the rules about noise/talking after eleven pm. Yoi had to leave the hostel half an hour after check-out.
Review 10:Friendly lady at the reception who replaced my dorm from the outer builing to the main building since it was raining so much that day. Boxspring bed. Warming fireplace in the living room.
Review 11:Good clean bathrooms and kitchens. Lots of space and plentiful hot water. Good free wifi. Large TV room to watch movies and large garden to sit out in.
Review 12:There is very little to do in Westport - I would only advise a brief stop to break up the journey on the west coast.
Review 13:The hostel is located just a few minutes walk from the main street. The facilities are excellent with a large kitchen and lots of laundry machines. Shared bathrooms are clean with lots of hot water. Really nice big garden and tv lounge/sitting area to meet with other travellers
Review 14:The hostel is located in a quiet street just off the main street of Westport with restaurants and shops within walking distance. Our private room had its own bathroom and was located in the main building, a lovely restored old villa. Staff was really friendly and room was very clean.
Review 15:No free wifi is our only gripe!
Review 16:We stayed in Westport as a stopover to Abel Tasman from franz josef. We booked in a 8 bed dorm which was clean and comfy beds, staff friendly and helpful, good showers and facilities also garden area was a great place to hang out! Really enjoyed our stay!
Review 17:Wonderful kitchen with herb garden at the guests disposal. The garden was sdo peaceful and there's that lovely black manx kitty to pet. Just what a seasoned traveler a bit weary of partying backpackers needed :)
Review 18:beds are a desaster.they should have changed them 10 years ago.unbeliveable matrazes ! they recommend a restaurant with strange tricks ! hard to find electicity to turn on.
Review 19:It's an old, Victorian building so I was expecting noisy, creaking floors, draughty rooms, musty smells and dilapidated facilities - but no!. It's all very clean, quiet and comfortable, making a very pleasant two day stay.
Review 20:The staircase and existing building is a little old and worn, but the rooms and facilities far outweighed that.
Review 21:Clean, fresh bedroom, light and airy. The kitchen facilities were outstanding. This old chef was thrilled to see 6 seperate cooktops and a spotlessly clean kitchen! The grounds are immaculate and the ablutions and laundry room are brand new and spotless. Highly recommended.
Review 22:The Staff, the kitchen , the room, the bed, the garden. I was sad I was only staying one night. Quiet also, appreciated the rules for quiet after 10pm
Review 23:They say that the WIFI is free, but it's only 200meg... Would be appreciated to get not limits... ;)
Review 24:Very nice hostel. I liked the garden and the kitchen. Very easy to meet people in that hostel. The room was tidy.
Review 25:nothing of significance
Review 26:friendly, welcoming atmosphere - stayed in ensuite section, which was very well appointed - but shared facilities appeared clean and comfortable too
Review 27:Looks like it might be getting too big for its own good - there were LOADS of people there especially in the kitchen which was ridiculously crowded.
Review 28:Lots of room and charm in the communal rooms.
Review 29:The room has an unpleasant smell. Found a brown hair in the bed sheet. No control over the guests noise after 10:30pm. Only warning sign didn't stop a group of young guys and girls talking loudly even after 00:15am and i couldn't fall asleep. The worst night I had during my holiday.
Review 30:Price was cheap.
Review 31:A bit noisy due to a big group of young people, but still acceptable
Review 32:A real surprise. Travelling with an elderly couple it was our first hostel experience and we liked the old house, the way it is organized to accommodate different guests. We had two rooms with private bathrooms and especially the Room No 21 was just great. Both rooms spacey, clean and with renovated bathrooms. Friendly staff.
Review 33:It felt like on a school trip. A big group stayed in hostel whenn we did. It was very loud and full. We were lucky not to have the room next to the common room. Kitchen was not that clean, everything was wet and filled with liquid. The dish towels didn´t work. The staff was not unfriendly, but also not very welcoming. No information to Paparoa national park were given. Toilette, shower and sink were in the same room and only the toilette was lockable. Beds are very soft and rooms very small. You could hear the neighbours very well.
Review 34:Kitchen was big and everything was there besides an oven. Old building, well arranged and with chimney.
Review 35:The kitchen is ok,but needs a update on their plates, e.d. especially the species and knifes. The common area is a little bit out dated. But serves it's purpose, so that's a personal preference if you like it or not
Review 36:We stayed in a double room for 1 night. The room was clean and comfortable. We got free towels which was nice. The showers are ok. It's central located and has a nice garden!
Review 37:The access code wifi was a bit annoying as had to keep asking for more. Other than that I loved my stay!
Review 38:The staff were amazing. Always willing to help you ou. Kitchen was well equipped and kept cleans and beds were comfortable

Review 95:Definitely recommend this place. Comfort was second to none. Had own room & bathroom. Home away from home. Fantastic place for a stop over
Review 96:The wifi connection could have been faster.
Review 97:It's just a lovely place to stay. The room was quite large and comfortable. So was the bathroom. This place gives more of a home stay like feeling. Wish we could have stayed a little longer at this place.
Review 98:Couln't use Wifi in our room, but no big deal!!
Review 99:The clean, warm, dry room! (It was raining) We liked the experience of a hostel, since we stayed mostly in BnB's or lodges. This was a good experience and gave us greater understanding of how many travel.
Review 100:It says when booking you get free wifi but you only get 100mb which doesn't go far and doesn't always stay connected.
Review 101:It had a lovely feel from front door to back yard. There is lots of room and good size kitchen. Toilets and showers are located indoors which is a big plus! Rooms are secure and lockable and there is a few friendly cats wandering the place that are adorable!
Review 102:There was no electrical outlet in our room so we were not able to charge our electronics over night.
Review 103:This is the cleanest, best managed hostel we've stayed in yet. And the price was right!
Review 104:The best hostel I've ever been to. Very nice building, all clean. Good facilities incl. big equipped kitchen, common room, garden with bbq. Free wifi (working!)
Review 105:The friendliness of the owner and the cleanliness of the property also the amenities such as table tennis etc set up in a room and also hammocks scattered around the garden.
Review 106:Noises carried through the house well past ten. The bed was v uncomfortable - sagged in the middle. Needed a little mini fridge for guests to store bits and pieces in.
Review 107:Big private room. Lovely hostel. Great location. The shower was super! Really friendly staff.
Review 108:Owners were very friendly and helpful. You can tell they take a lot of pride in their facility. Private room for our family of four with one large bed and bunk beds. They offered free internet, but we weren't there long enough to take advantage of it. Bathroom and showers were very close to our room. This is the first hostel my daughters and I have ever stayed at. It set the bar high, I wonder if all hostels are of such high quality? Free parking!
Review 109:piano was not toned :)
Review 110:nice old building, well equiped kitchen, nice garden and tables outside, bbq uder roof, table tenis table piano....great place to be
Review 111:No problems.
Review 112:Great site just out of town but handy to everything and just over the road from the Catholic Church. Well set up and lovely surroundings. Very helpful staff.
Review 113:The accommodations and hosts were top-notch. We don't often stay in hostels, but will more after this experience. There was a large kitchen and 2 bathrooms right next to our room. The place was very clean and friendly. I would highly recommend TripInn for the price.
Review 114:Some girls staying at the same time left their dishes and frying pan in the sink.Annoying to think that people would do that.
Review 115:All was great, easy location to find, good off road parking, with cameras operating. The rooms were clean, and the beds comfortable, kitchen very well equipted.Great stay.
Review 116:If you book directly, specifically avoid room 13. It is directly acrossfrom a communal toilet and shower and sink. The toilet door slammeddozens of times daily, the hallway frequently smelled like a toilet, people sang in the shower, and the sink attached to the exterior wall ofthe room reverberates through room 13 like a drum when water is running. So the noise got to me, even though the proprietor suggested that so fewpeople would use that particular communal area that I would not notice. In fact, many people used that area and I should have pushed harder fora room change. Also, room 13 is not a twin room with two twin beds. Ithas a double bed with a mattress and a bunk bed with a foam pad down anda mattress up. We expected two twin beds, which we felt is generally themeaning of a twin room.
Review 117:The owners are friendly and the communal kitchen is clean and well run.The hostel is in a beautiful historic home, with a bbq area and a nicegarden. I appreciated the nice free parking area too.
Review 118:the weather!!!
Review 119:parking good, staff excellent, helpful, position perfect for town
