Reviews for The Pines Melaka

Review 1:Room has a strange stench smell upon entering and flooring is very slippery when wet. My elderly father nearly fell

Review 2:Room is big and poolside suite is great

Review 3:Waited 1,5 hrs to be checked in. Apart from mere "sorry for waiting" no apologies from the staff or management. Then realising our credit card was charged twice. Took some time to resolve the problem.

Review 4:Location

Review 5:Very limited TV channels. Chambermaid removed my personal toothpaste (almost empty but still usable) without permission. I have to presume that it has been thrown away. Same thing happened in another of my family member's room. Personal toiletries with small amount of remaining shampoo removed without permission. First time experiencing personal items removed from hotel room.

Review 6:Food centre with Chinese food located opposite the hotel. Room is new and comfortable. Manager Mr Teh Eng Yew was very helpful and prompt in getting my room changed after we realised we have booked the wrong type of room.

Review 7:so far no comment... may be front desk must be more friendly...

Review 8:all facilities still new, room design and all furnish arrangement such a awesome...hope can maintain till further...

Review 9:The receptionists were very slow in attending to each guest.

Review 10:The rooms were very spacious. The service was great. Room service was very prompt. Love the pool and playground area. Its very worth the money. Plus its a great location. In all, I enjoyed my stay at The Pines

Review 11:Staff needs more training on customer service. Front office staff are not well verse with hotel terms eg: Double bed & Twin bed Serving staff in restaurant need training, to be more hospitable to guests especially elderly.

Review 12:Swimming Pool

Review 13:We pay for them to set up sofa bed for our two children but they told us they would only provide one pillow for the sofa bed. The staff at front office suggested we use the sofa cushion as pillow. This is ridiculous! In addition, I requested for 3 card keys but the check in staff said could give maximum 2 card keys.

Review 14:Room is new and clean

Review 15:Could do better if there are more 24hrs convenience store and food places nearby

Review 16:Spacious and clean room, recommended for family Nice and clean pool and playground Convenient location Friendly staffs Everything was just great!

Review 17:Reception was excellent, bellboy was informative i was at room 2608 please check who the staff who sent our bags up. He provided good info! The room with view of Melaka city was nice & Grea8 Cafe has good ambience. The decor around the hotel is very creative!

Review 18:Could improve in the pool side area, there were no tables.

Review 19:The place is fairly new, spacious room and clean. It's not near to Jonker so prepare to do a little bit of walking... Service was good.

Review 20:Check in time was a bit slow. There was no lifeguard near the pool area.

Review 21:The swimming pool was great. The location was good. If you don't want to have a meal at the hotel, there are a few places in front of the hotel.

Review 22:Check in take too long but we understand that is the peak hour. Maybe need to plan and organise more housekeeping personnel in time of peak season.

Review 23:Spacious room and sofa bed

Review 24:Room was only ready at 3.45 pm although checkin was at 3pm. Took one hour for us to get shampoo and shower gel in our room as the hotel ran out of showering amenities. Location is quite far from Jonker (20 min walk) and Palawan. Hotel had shuttles 4 times a day but it could only seat around 8 pax. Need to book one day in advance to get seats.

Review 25:Room was spacious, had a great view and huge bathroom and tub (exec room with balcony). Nice in room amenities. We were pleasantly surprised by fireworks right in front of our balcony on 29 Dec. Staff (except restaurant staff) were friendly. 5-10 min walk from The Shore shopping centre.

Review 26:Terrible traffic as soon as you're out from the hotel area, heading towards town. Also, I wish they had a hose in the toilet. I didn't like the bidet.

Review 27:Spacious, luxurious and very comfortable. There's a sofa bed for another party. Helpful staffs.

Review 28:Waiting for check in too long(around 20mins!) Must que like buying ticket The pillow not comfortable The bathroom a bit smelly The cafe too small for bundle of customer

Review 29:Friendly staff

Review 30:call service from room for customers needs or in an urgent matters are poor.shld have a baby pool.management shld be well prepared and trained to be more orientated, especially during peak season and holidays period.amenities in the room must well maintained and serviced.

Review 31:I like the toilet.its huge with a bath tub.the rest are just average.I also recommended for room dine in.the food are finger licking goods.

Review 32:There was a bad odor came out from the toilet. According to the staff, it's due to the draining piping issue. We can smell it in the room even close the toilet door. It really spoilt our mood.

Review 33:The room is spacious and clean. The pool and playground is great and windy. Overall the staffs are polite and good service.

Review 34:The wifi connection was not good in my room. my room located at 20th floor. we arrived the hotel at 1500hrs and there was a very long que to check -in. After check in done, we were told that our room was not ready yet. they asked us to wait another 1 hour. so we went out for coffee ( melacca nyonya house restaurant which located a few blocks from this hotel) because there is no point waiting at the lobby as there were so many people waiting there. finally we had our room ready at 1620hrs. we went up but unfortunately we were not able to enter the room as there was something wrong with the key. we called the front desk and asked them to assist us, get someone to bring up a new key for us. it was quite hassle to get down again as we already brought all our luggage plus we have 2 kids travelling with us. after waiting for a few minutes, there was no one came up to us. my hubby had to get down and get someone to help us to fix the problem.

Review 35:This is totally a new hotel. Therefore everything in this hotel is so new. Love the ambience and the deco of this hotel. the buffet spread for breakfast was fantastic. everything seems so delicious and fresh. I like the way they handled the crowd during the breakfast time, so that the café doesn't look so crowded.

Review 36:Staff did not inform guest that road entrance the hotel close for Maulidur Rasul parade. Wasting a lot of time in the traffic in the morning return back to hotel after having breakfast at Malacca Town.

Review 37:Book for room with pool. Kids really enjoy it.

Review 38:The kettle is not working. The fridge is not cold enough The sofa bed is too soft Only one room key was issued which makes it more inconvenient say when one wants to go to the pool and one wants to stay in the room. The gym is not open

Review 39:The room is very spacious and new.

Review 40:long queue while waiting check in . and room are not ready to be check in when we arrive at 4pm ... asked to wait for 1 hour , but actually waiting more than 1 and half hour ......no call received after 1 hour and half ..... when we ask the receptionist then only they ready the room to us (after waiting for so long ) ,wasting our time ... facilities very less ....

Review 41:a lot of parking

Review 42:Urmmm i need to wait more an hour until i have to go at the caunter and asked what time i can check in..finally shafiq staff hotel has tackle me not to pissed off and cool my day by let me check out at 2pm...

Review 43:I love the design in the room, nice deco, kitchen cabinet with sinki easy for me to wash bottle for feed my son milk n poridge,i love it.. :)

Review 44:1. Reception area a bit small n limited space for all visitors especially during peak hours/seasons. At one time crowded and not enough sofa provided. 2. No saparate counter for check-out & in provided. Guest to face a long que for both activities and it takes about 20 minutes. Not user friendly reception systems...

Review 45:1. Room facilities was good at 80% scores (except iron not really functional) n room size spacious can accommodate for more than 6 pax which advantage for family members. 2. View of Malacca town city from swimming pool at 8th floor fantastic and speechless. Windy and romantic especially at nite.

Review 46:Nothing much to comment about. Loved everything here! If I could add, maybe I wished it was closer to town. But walking there certainly is an adventure!

Review 47:The staffs were really helpful and friendly. The rooms were spacious and everything is in great condition. Love the view too!

Review 48:The floor a bit sticky....don't know why..clean dy still feel sticky...swimming pool water very salty....but we still can play....so far everything ok...we will come back again..

Review 49:The room was big,air conditioning very cold..everything good..opposite building have 2 mamak...if hungry very easy to get food....

Review 50:Slow wifi/hard to connect to hotel wifi. Staff explained due to high occupancy.

Review 51:Stayed in the Executive room. The bed was comfortable, room was clean and the toilet was well designed and had a huge bathtub.

Review 52:Toilet flushing was a pain, it was choked but was rectified within 45 mins. However it was still choked again after a few more usage. This needs more attention.

Review 53:Stayed on the 27th floor which had a brilliant view of Melaka towards the coast. Toilet was extravagant in space but to a nice extent. Bed was comfy.

Review 54:Not too much choice for breakfast, only nasi minyak and keawtiaw goreng for main dish

Review 55:Room clean, receptionist very kind and polite. Love room because it is big and comfortable

Review 56:Breakfast was satisfactory.

Review 57:The concept of the hotel is good.. View from the balcony is awesome.. The swimming pool area is nice for swimming & relaxing..

Review 58:-The hotel staffs are not ready to accommodate lot of hotel guest. Registration is quite slow. My room keys are not working when I went up Level 24. - Breakfast is decent but there are long queue during my stays. I think there is no need to book room with breakfast. - Limited lift access. Only 4 lifts to accommodate the hotel guests. very long waiting time. -Parking is expensive. only 1 complimentary parking. Overall I feel a bit disappointed with my stays as I paid the executive room. Hopefully they can improve in the future.

Review 59:New hotel and room is spacious and clean. Carpark space is good. Quite easy to get out from Melaka town to Ayer Keroh toll.

Review 60:In room dinning was expensive compare to 4* hotel

Review 61:Almost every thing, this is a amazing hotel. One of the best in Malaka. The in-room dinning was great. Enjoyed the lake view. Very clean and comfortable. Parking was free and safe. Hotel staff was very friendly. Feels like new.

Review 62:Hotel didn't allocate the room according to my request via book.com. Requested king size bed, first given twin single beds, then changed to queen size. and it took about 45 mins for the hotel to arrange the change, not to say after making two calls to the front desk.

Review 63:Spacious room, nice location, ample parking bays, very new hotel

Review 64:Will be better if there is basic utensils provided since there's a sink in the room.

Review 65:Spacious. Convenient to get to town with shuttle bus. Friendly and attentive staff and always has a senior staff around making problem solved quick . Like.

Review 66:Just a note to management. Please have a clearer sign at the corner of the road leading to the hotel as most 1st time customers will miss the road.

Review 67:Would like to especially thank Mr. Teh (Asst. Front Office Manager) for accommodating our requests n meeting our requirements. You made a big difference in ensuring that The Pines will b our choice to stay in when my family is in Melaka ! Will b coming back soon. Btw breakfast is very Good , delicious n selections on par with many 5 star hotels I have stayed in. Staff are very attentive n courteous. Keep it up!!

Review 68:Please improve the restaurant layout due to not enough space esp school holiday, and dissapointed with staff in the restaurant itself.

Review 69:I do like the layout of our room, especially multifuction seatbed, and the facilities

Review 70:There is no 'Do not disturb' signs at all. We actually do not want our rooms to be cleaned all the time because we wanted to be 'GREEN' as stated in the bathrooms.

Review 71:Hotel staff were very friendly. Housekeepers did not touch our stuff despite them cleaning our room. Pillows and beds were very very comfortable.

Review 72:I am staying at the executive premier with no balcony, i had facing the hot water problem in our bath room, the hot water only can maintain about 5 min after that the water is not hot totally, it cause me can't enjoy the bathub which provided by the room.

Review 73:Improve Check-In/Check-Out timing as well as kitchen services during breakfast for better overall guest services.

Review 74:Big Room, Clean, Comfortable And Modern c/w Good Breakfast.

Review 75:1.Thick new bath towels; but one of them has a dark dirty stain on it. 2. The floor of the shower area was not properly constructed as used water does not run to the exit drain hole.

Review 76:The room is spacious. The airconditioner works well. Ventilation in the bathroom works well. Breakfast places are just across the hotel. Since it started operation in July 2015 (as was informed by their staff), it has been kept clean. Good security by using the room cards for accessing lifts. A good walk to Jonker street and river boardwalk.

Review 77:No valet parking No news paper Food can be improved to show case local Malacca food besides western breakfast Staff need to be trained to get the table prepared quiickly

Review 78:View from executive floor, really nice...Room that fit my family need..value for money..brand new facilities.

Review 79:The downside only unpleasant smell from both sinks at specific time- early morning n late night. On the first day I've already complain to the housekeeping, she efficiently settled the problem. But the unpleasant smell kept recur.

Review 80:Nothing that i can recall

Review 81:Worth every cent...buffet breakfast is the best...restaurants n cafes just nearby...big spacious room...free parking available...

Review 82:everything is perfect...no comment

Review 83:Great hotel and helpful staff.superb quite and privacy pool in front of my room n my kid love swimming pool very much:)also nearby to food outlet like Teh Tarik Place(TTP)..will come again:)

Review 84:If only they could replace the toiletries bottles with something that is easy to squeeze.

Review 85:Spacious & clean room, nicely scented room Sofa bed, ample parking space

Review 86:The hotel has beautiful views of the river but it is a bit of a walk (20 minutes) to the center of activity in the town. Fortunately, the hotel does have bikes to rent. Oddly, the desk in the room lacks a chair--tough for using one's lap top in the room.

Review 87:The desk manager was very able in helping me find an acceptable room--I recommend the ones with outdoor balconies. The bathroom was attractive and oversized--a tub and fine rain shower. The concierge was a tremendous aid in helping me secure a ticket back to KL even though all of the bus lines were sold out at the time I wished to travel. I was very grateful for his exceptional effort.

Review 88:Breakfast choice is not as much as I could imagine. Limited menus. Entrance road little bit confusing

Review 89:The interior design is beautiful. The room and even the pool are well design, spacious and unique. Have small playground for kids. The staff are helpful and friendly.

Review 90:About 30 min walk to Jonker Street. Free shuttle is only 9-seater van, once it is full, need to wait for nex trip, which is about 2 hours later.

Review 91:The partially covered swimming pool.

Review 92:The bed wasn't comfortable enough. Rather tough and the bedsheets were rough. And bath salt wasn't provided for the bathtub. Ended up we didn't use the bathtub :( more points will be added if the bathtub comes with a "plate" so guests can put their tablets on the plate watching show while soaking.

Review 93:I love the friendiness of tje staffs and the sweet thought arrangement the hotel staff has provided for our wedding anniversary stay.

Review 94:Toilet was fine except for the toilet bowl... water pressure very low.

Review 95:The room was extremely fabulous.... i really love the room so much... value for money.

Review 96:Was being told that our room was not ready until 5.30p.m. and the room which we are staying had a terrible leak from the wall ceiling. Told the front desk about it but there was no proper handling of the issue and did not bother to response back to us even during when we are checking out the hotel next day...

Review 97:The location was great, easy access to various town facilities. Cool private jetty to cruise Melaka river too. Good varieties during breakfast.

Review 98:Lobby was small... no place to relax whilst waiting for friends.

Review 99:Excellent bell boys & housekeeping staff. They go all out to service you. Room is big, clean & comfortable!

Review 100:Flexibility on waiting at front of hotel.

Review 101:Very big and very clean room. All the front desk staffs are very polite and very helpful. They are always with a smiling face and seem to be very happy all the time. Very courteous and able to address by name.

Review 102:The hotel is bit new, the floor near lift is not polish

Review 103:we love the room and hotel security. Everything was smooth while checking in. The staff is friendly. The location is great!! Definately will come back

Review 104:Bought a breakfast package which is cheaper but the reception forgot to give me the voucher and I thought that you can just walk in.The next day since I don't have the voucher they charged my breakfast on normal rate. So I paid twice but they gave refund later but the refund was the package price.

Review 105:All of iy

Review 106:Great new hotel Room was very comfortable and very clean Room and bathroom was large There was three of us in the room and we never felt crowded Good facilities Good free wifi provided

Review 107:The employees were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel was quite well situated, although maybe a bit far from the town centre of Melakka. The breakfast was very good - catering for Europeans and Asiens. The room we stayed in was huge and tastefully decorated and furnished. The parking was free in the indoor carpark attached to the hotel.

Review 108:Not happy because eventhough not much occupancy, the front office is not helpful in allowing my request for extention stay from 12noon to 2pm. This request was made due to the fact that my meeting was longer than expected.

Review 109:The location is very convenient to move around in Melaka. The river view is very soothing.

Review 110:The cleanliness is fantastic and the staffs is friendly. The location is convenient and got bicycles for rental and free shuttle bus. The breakfast is good.

Review 111:Wondering how is the executive room differs from deluxe or standard room. The executive room seems to be cramp. TV is just 2-3 feet away from bed. There only one bench in the balcony. By the way it is a public balcony, can be view neighboring units clearly. It was really sad story on the toiletries. Shower gel was not provided on the second day, and house keeping replied they will only provide one only. Not sure what they meant by that. Yes they did provide after our short "discussion". OAK restaurant, a lot of flies. Mainly it was on the cold dishes/pastries.

Review 112:The staff is quite friendly, most of them. The room is clean.

Review 113:Room was not ready when arrival. Requested for room make up however never come to clean the room as pool suite easy wet and slippery

Review 114:Helpful & friendly staff Love the pool suite room very much, spacious & my kid enjoy the water play very much. Generally satisfy with the room

Review 115:The hotel management must look into the plumbing system. Toilet was smelly, maintenance team tried to fix it a few times but unable to completely resolve the issue. The buffet breakfast is not included with the room.

Review 116:Good location along the main road to the city centre. Rooms with sofa bed. Hawker centre just 100m away. 3 cafes just next to the hotel. Concept of the pool side suite is good. Hotel staff are good.

Review 117:None

Review 118:Hotel location is good, easy excess to town. The rooms are big, very spacious & very clean...my 1 year old son enjoyed crawling all over the room. During d night the scenery is awesome..river cruise is jz next to our hotel, we see lights from the villages & it brighten our stay!!

Review 119:No bad experiences except the price of the Buffet could be altered as there wasn't much.

Review 120:What I loved most about the hotel is the effectiveness and friendliness of the staff. I was there with my boyfriend for our short holiday in Melaka and it was amazing.

Review 121:Not having a small dinning table in the room. Perhaps a foldable table can b included. Extra blanket is very helpful.

Review 122:I stayed in the Pool Suite n my family had such an awesome time. Only thing is we need more n bigger door mats that can soak water well bcuz it gets very slippery on the floor of room .

Review 123:When the time I check out, the staff seems like not in patient. When time around 7pm, we just back from jonker walk, the car park did not switch on the light, the car park quite scary and dark, and both of us also female, if there is any happen, I think if we scream out also no one can come and help us.

Review 124:Pool side view is the best!! Even night time 7pm till 8pm still can swim, swimming cum enjoying the night view of Melaka, is the best!! When we want to having nedeje cake(famous cake in Melaka), it just located at next building, no need go to Mahkota Parade to have it. And last, like the location, for driving to jonker walk, only takes 4-5 minutes.

Review 125:Not much tv channel selection,no in room iron/ironboard.would like to hv at least a microwave on a very big 'kitchen' area

Review 126:We chose the poolside bedroom.very spacious.

Review 127:Used to stay there for more than 5times. The last staying was not so comfortable due to some unhappy issues happened (the room we stayed). Hopefully mgmt can listen to customer's needs and not always turn us down when we request.

Review 128:The location, the room design, the cleanliness

Review 129:The location of the hotel is very strategic, easy accessible to anywhere. Bed is comfy and the Poolside Suite is unique. Staff are friendly and quality of the food is good! If only our room view is better, then we wld hv a perfect holiday!

Review 130:Some amenities in the bath were not that great, I had a hard time trying to squeeze the shampoo/ shower gel out. For a hotel like this, I think they can provide better than this.

Review 131:The staff were all very friendly. And the view was good on the upper levels. Bed was very big and comfortable. A little distance from Jonker walk, but the shuttle bus totally made up for it. Thumbs up for a new hotel

Review 132:A lot of people and room tenants staying at the pool side suite swimming over to our pool area (which i am not sure if that is allowed), invading our privacy as we kept the doors opened wide. There is even another tenant bringing over cup noodles over to our side to eat while in the pool (our room was the corner room).

Review 133:Overall like the environment and comfort of the room. Stayed at the pool side suite. Room was clean and the pool was awesome.

Review 134:The toilet had a bad smell that spreads into the room esp. when airconditioning is turned off.

Review 135:The poolside suite is popular with the kids. Check-in and out was prompt. Room service was prompt and the food was ok.

Review 136:We arrived very late after midnight as we booked very late too, but when we asked for late check out it wasn't easily to get extra 2hours! Very unqualified manager and disappointing attitude ! In fact I don't think they are very prepared to welcome foreigners. This behavior make the whole experience diasapointment. Otherwise the staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 137:Brand new hotel with a very nice swimming pool (but room was smelly because of fresly painted)

Review 138:- very poor team at the reception - no room service for the amount of money they charge per room - I had the room with a private pool which is actually not private at all . - elevators were down for about 3 hours at night and was only able to get to my room by mid night through service elevators - staff could not even call me a cab , when asked again he told me he forgot about it!

Review 139:Dear Pines Malacca Happily booked and expected for a great vacation for the national day holiday with my family and friends. However, it turned out to be a total disappointment. Firstly, when we were checking in, we were asked to wait due to the holiday season. It was ok to wait until our room to get ready as stated the check in time is 3pm. when we got our rooms at 320pm, found out the housekeeping miss out sandals, bathroom mat and toilet roll. That was ok, we just grab the stuff from housekeepers by ourselves. All we wanted was a happy holiday. And later on, we went to enquire about breakfast buffet package. We received confusing price from different staffs A ( FO ) said : 58+ for couple buffet, kids under 12years old eat for free (supposed to be promo) B ( F&B ) said: 33+ for adult, 17+ for kids And the staff said Front Office Manager will call back to clarify , but that did not happen. This is such a bad working ethics. We could wait and went for the breakfast, the price charged was RM33+ for adult, 17+ for kids, So, again we went to clarify with the front desk, and the front desk person who served us earlier upon check in started to push the responsibility away as she already told us RM58++ for couple buffet, kids under 12years old eat for free ( was a promo and have to pay upon check in ) That was not the case , the front desk did not inform us about the buffet promo pack . They are not even apologetic and just finger pointing it to us ( customer ) , the customer service is so not professional. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Review 140:Price is slightly high with no free breakfast. Toilet is too small unfortunately.

Review 141:The room is big and clean. Good for big family stay. Location not far to city and convenient.

The Fine Print
