Reviews for Hotel Nikko Kanazawa
Review 1:The location of the Hotel is great, the staff is friendly and helpful and the rooms were very comfortable. All of this reasonably priced! A definite choice when visiting Kanazawa.
Review 2:The only negative was that the casual dining was disappointing for a westerner. Howver the Olive Tree next to the hotel is excellent.
Review 3:This is an excellent hotel which is very comofrtable and excellently run. It can sort out anything you need to Kanazawa and is literally across the road from the railway station. There is an covered underpass which connect to the station.
Review 4:The room is small.
Review 5:The breakfast adds the rate to this hotel, especially the food in Japanese style. The room is small but with a good night view. The location is very good for all activities there. We highly recommend it.
Review 6:The room is spacious, well-equipped with amenities and it is easily accessible to the main attractions in Kanazawa. Price is pretty reasonable for a 4-star hotel.
Review 7:Location is perfect as it is just across the station. Easy access to all attractions by bus. Excellent service, clean and helpful staff. Breakfast is full mark!
Review 8:Only if the hotel would provide an onsen facility, it would be perfect.
Review 9:Great hotel location. The room view allow me to see the sea nearby the city. It was a nice view.
Review 10:The room was very noisy because due to heavy rain and wind! I even felt tje building was skaking under strong winds!! Maybe it is due too the design to fit for the attack of earthquakes. But noisy wind through the windows was very troublesome. It's hard to get sleep!!
Review 11:Staffs are very polite! Bell boy's introduction was excellent! On the whole is comfortable and clean. Food was delicious.
Review 12:The absence of an egg station for breakfast.
Review 13:Very reasonable charges for the sufficiently spacious rooms with breakfast thrown in. Our request for high floors were kindly heeded. The carpet and furnishings seem new. The lobby was luxurious and offer a lot of resting areas. Attached to Porte, a mall, eateries abound around the hotel and for us,best of all, it is linked seamlessly to Kanazawa Train and Bus Station.
Review 14:Had a hilarious exchange with the bartender in the lounge. We accidentally what ended up to be a pear and olive martini. Advice: stick to the cocktail menu they provide unless you speak Japanese.
Review 15:The booked Comfort Double turned out to have only a 140 cm Bed, too small for us. After some talking we got offered a Twin room, on a lower floor and different style though, but that was fine.
Review 16:Big Lobby, elegant and comfortable. Location. Staff. Restaurants.
Review 17:Hotel do need some renovation, their Carpet in the public area and the elevator had many stains.
Review 18:The personalized service provided by staff is very good, the Internet connection is poor, after reported the housekeeper provided a wireless router instead and keep apologizing.
Review 19:Nothing...just continue providing excellent service
Review 20:convenience to major transport & ease of access to everything a visitor needs; accommodation meets my expectation & overall hotel provides best service; love the complimentary drinks every night especially having it at Sky Lounge; our room is a class of its own; beds/pillows so comfortable; had the topmost floor with a good view of the kenrokuen garden
Review 21:Nothing in particular, good hotel.
Review 22:So close to the train station, where you can get the daily loop buses for around town. Buffet breakfast was excellent. Very spacious room.
Review 23:It doesn't have an Ensen. We are getting used to this lovely experience in Japan. Food in the hotel is expensive but there are lots of options outside. Expensive breakfast.
Review 24:Beautiful hotel so close to train station. It even has underground walkways to the station so you don't get wet if it is raining.
Review 25:Loved my time in Kanazawa
Review 26:Great location, right across the road from the station. there is an underpass that takes you straight there. A few minutes walk to the hop on hop off bus that gets you all around Kanazawa. Friendly staff at the hotel
Review 27:Very thin walls in room - I could hear the room next door having conversations and their television. Overpriced drinks - I went downstairs to the cafe to have tea and they wanted to charge me close to 10,000 yen for a single cup of tea. I can go go across the road to Starbacks for 1/3 of the price!
Review 28:Solid hotel, stunning lobby, and good sized room
Review 29:We had a queen room, and the bed was great, but I wish it wasn't pushed up against the wall...makes it hard to get up in the middle of the night.
Review 30:Great location near the train station, where there is great shopping and food options. Very easy to walk everywhere. Staff was kind and helpful. Terrific views--torn between the Kanazawa castle side or the Sea of Japan side. Both are spectacular.
Review 31:Room was a little small, although I suppose we didn't pay a lot so the view was a bonus, and I would trade room size for view.
Review 32:The Hotel is very convenient to the railway station and we had a room on the 25th floor with stunning views. very good.
Review 33:We were in the luxury floor and the room was tiny, the bed against the wall because of no space. The bathroom is small too. The room doesn't worth the price and doesn't fit the class of the hotel. Plus the breakfast was not good for the standing of the hotel. Ok for 1 night stay but will not recommend it.
Review 34:The hotel location is good, near to the station. The entry hall, rooftop bar and hotel is classy, with gentle staff.
Review 35:Main bar far too small for hotel. Jazz bar advertised but when we tried to use and agreed to the cover charge we were shown to podium seats in esentially a brightly lit corridor and refused entry to the half empty lounge seatin area. We were smartly dressed. We felt quite offended.
Review 36:Room and reception. Front desk staff
Review 37:Wonderful oasis after a few days of travel. The concierge went above and beyond the call of duty arranging bike rentals, restaurant reservations and even helping us book a Ryokan in Wajima...bus schedule and all. Wow! A big awesome sauce to her and the rest of the staff.
Review 38:Nothing
Review 39:The hotel is lovely with excellent staff, who were always exceptionally polite, friendly and efficient. The onsite dining was very nice for breakfast and dinner. Its in a great location close to the station.
Review 40:The breakfast ends at 10am, a bit earlier, but seems all the Japan hotels do the same.
Review 41:Very good location close to the station with valuable price, very nice view day and night. The room is clean, small but cozy, with all the bright color, quite comforty to stay with. Worth to recommend!
Review 42:1. signage is hidden from station entrance/exit point 2. All restaurant are too expensive for holiday makers. They are more suitable value-wise for business persons.
Review 43:The location.
Review 44:The buffet meal on the 2nd floor was mediocre and the atmosphere was more cafeteria than swish hotel. Ditto for breakfast. There were other dining options in the hotel which were probably better; we took the cheaper option. WIFI in the room was poor.
Review 45:Beds were comfortable; shower/water pressure good. Staff were professional and pleasant. Only 2 minutes walk from the train and bus station. Clean, modern hotel.
Review 46:The hotel was grander than my usual philosophy (travel light like a backpacker, sleep like a businessman), I select based on price, location to transport and the review score; reception were very accommodating and the room and view from the 25th floor was fantastic – in that light probably the best value room on my trip. Kanazawa was fantastic, I regret only spending one day there – Higashichaya Old Town was fascinating and smaller and easier to fully explore than Gion in Kyoto; do yourself a favour and clamber (or drive) up to the shines above the Old Town, the views are spectacular.
Review 47:Beautiful hotel and accomodations located a short walk from Kanazawa Station puts this hotel right in the heart of the city. Close to transit to go sightseeing; close to shopping area; close to entertainment area for late night karaoke.
Review 48:The only weakness we have found is that the international breakfast is quite poor.
Review 49:The location close to the station is really a great thing. The hotel is really nice for the forniture and the lobby is amazing.
Review 50:The hotel is definitely loved by the local people, and the staffs there are super helpful, with their genuine hearts. You can tell that they really want to provide a great experience for Kanazawa and they are proud and loving their jobs. Unlike Tokyo where they provide great service just out of trainings, here the staffs provide warm-hearted service, and they did a great job to meet the guests' special requests. I really appreciate their detailed, genuine service. Especially their Japanese-style restaurant, which provided one of the best menus for gluten-free diet. The price for the hotel is super reasonable that I almost doubt about my eyes. The rooms are clear, the the mattress are the top: not puffy, but firm enough to provide a wonderful sleep even for extremely sensitive people. they have a underground pathway from the station, which is lovely in the rainy days.the view of the sea is great. really enjoy my stay there.
Review 51:We didn't like anything it was wonderful
Review 52:The position is great next to the station and shops and close to all the attractions the hotel should be a 5 star everything is perfect
Review 53:Rooms are relatively small considering the price and impressive lobby. Ventilation was a definite issue (it was either very hot or very cold). There are no windows that can be opened. One side of the bed faces the wall which means you have no night-stand and that it can be tricky to get out of bed without disturbing your partner.
Review 54:Located near the railway station. The hotel has several excellent restaurants. Helpful staff but limited English. Beautiful lobby, a nice place to hangout. Impressive view from the rooms.
Review 55:Rooms are a tad narrow but not a big issue.
Review 56:The concierge team (Ms. Terai and Ms.Kojima) were extremely helpful with our restaurant and tour bookings in advance of our visit and even assisted in translating a menu for us. Convenient location and clean facilities.
Review 57:None.
Review 58:The hotel has underground access to the JR Kanazawa station, as well as the bus station. This make traveling very convenient, especially in bad weather conditions.
Review 59:No in-room safe!
Review 60:Good location to visit the castle and renown garden. Good size rooms with comfortable beds. Great city and mountain views from the rooms.
Review 61:Since it was in business district, there were few dinner options nearby except sushi
Review 62:Location close to train station, low price for such a luxury beautiful room, friendly and very helpful staff
Review 63:the general style of the hotel is somehow not very well designed fancy hotel, it is like they are trying to make it very elegant but with a huge lack of design. The room is very standard in contrast with the general aspect of the common areas. It makes you feel a little strange that the hotel is fancy (under whatever the designer thought it would be fancy) but the room is typically normal.
Review 64:This is a oldie fancy hotel, the location is excellent, right in front of Kanazawa station and if you get an upper floor room you will have a beautiful view.
Review 65:Breakfast was very bad and also expensive. Coffee tasted horrible 2 days in a row.
Review 66:Concierge was wonderful. She helped us find a wonderful onsen. Location was very convenient.
Review 67:No English on TV other than BBC news. Several restaurants in hotel but expensive. Great options in the restaurants nearby.
Review 68:Lovely big room with separate hand basin area - all very new and clean. Very quiet with comfortable beds and spare pillows. By far the most luxurious room we've had in Japan. Free English newspaper every day. Good English speaking at front desk. Great undercover walkway to station, restaurants & shops.
Review 69:They are selling a single bed as a double. We got a room with a 140cm wide bed, one side to the wall. It's called Superior Double. A joke. The hotel bar has strict opening hours and there is not much around the hotel itself. It's convinient when you go by train though.
Review 70:They let us park in the front.
Review 71:Excellent location - with the covered walkway, within 5-minute walk from the JR station and the bus stop. Reach major tourist locations within 20 minutes.
Review 72:Poor directions on website which is a pity because it is so close to the hotel and there is underground step free access all the way from the station.
Review 73:Location very close to train and bus stations. Good department stores nearby. Nice café/restaurant on 45th floor.
Review 74:Nothing really, although I don't like hotels that have a cover charge for their bars (for guests). Also, and this may just be my preference, but I found the bed to be sooooo solid that in the morning my hip hurt from sleeping on my side. You can ask housekeeping for different pillow types, but I don't think they can change the mattress! :)
Review 75:The staff are very friendly, and this is a really nice, luxe hotel. We were on the 22nd floor with a great view out to the ocean. Check-in was so smooth (we were approached by a staff member as we entered the lobby), and our giant packs were taken to our room by a lady who escorted us the whole way there (in case we got lost in the lift hehehe?). Room size is pretty massive by Japanese standards, with some comfy chairs by the window. Late check-out is available, although we were leaving early anyway. Location is fantastic, less than 5 minute walk from Kanazawa station, and if you're interested in sight-seeing by bike, there is a city bike stand very close by (Machi-nori).
Review 76:A well located hotel that is nevertheless difficult to find because of inadequate signage outside and in the common areas at street level in the multiple-use building
Review 77:room size and bed.standard double room is little small.
Review 78:Location is very good and a lot of eating place closed by to go out. Staff are very friendly and Top floor bar should not be missed!
Review 79:the room. we stayed a few nights at the ANA crown plaza across the street and the one night at Nikko. the crown plaza room was far superior, at the same price level and twice as big.
Review 80:Great location next to the station. the lobby, very fancy. and the best thing about it - the breakfast! really great buffet breakfast, high quality and many options japanese and western style. best hotel breakfast we had.
Review 81:The location was amazing for a one night stop over as it was close to the jr station, however you have to walk or catch a taxi to get into the main area where the shops and restaurants are so for a longer stay somewhere near katamachi area would be better
Review 82:We loved the view over the city and also the really friendly and very helpful staff. It's also very pleasant to have a drink in the café of the lobby.
Review 83:• Relatively large room compared to Tokyo and Kyoto accommodations • Gorgeous view because the hotel rooms are on upper floors to business offices • Convenient location near train station, restaurants, bike and car rentals • Beautiful lobby with plenty of seating to meet or relax • Helpful, courteous staff
Review 84:Nil.
Review 85:Reception was very accomodating. Though at first, we were informed that we had to wait till 2 pm before we could check in, they were able to get us a room and we were able to check in early. We truly appreciated that as we were really tired after a long journey. Room was excellent and the bed very comfortable.
Review 86:The superior double room was quite small, the bed was small and not the most comfortable, it was fine for us as it was only for one night, but would probably be better to pay for a bigger room for longer stay.
Review 87:Great location - short walking distance from the main train station through underground and a mall connection. Most attractions are within walking distance. There are buses just outside the the train station to go around easily as well. Exceptional staff - the very professional concierge helped us in getting few reservations for restaurants, the email communications with them were easy and quick, even printed out maps for us to get to the place. Thank you very much to the team! Room with great view, the sea can be seen too. Didn't try the breakfast as we left quite early in the morning.
Review 88:Everything about this hotel was excellent. A quick walk from the station. Very comfortable and clean. The staff are very helpful and friendly. I'd happily stay here again.
Review 89:The hotel was really excellent. The price was really reasonable too. Professional service and facility. We were a family of four with teenage children. They gave us two connecting rooms which effectively became one big room. Just perfect.
Review 90:Beds: never seen in a 4 stars hotel so small, not only narrow buteven short.Japanese restaurant: BEWARE, fish comes served with bones! (I stayed in Japan 2 weeks and tried many restaurants but it never happened to find fish-bones)
Review 91:Position: extremely central.View: from our room at 26th floor was sensational
Review 92:Booked a luxury room and was shown to a small, poorly furnished room with double bed against the wall so one person could not get out! Dreadful, and certainly not luxury. After some strong negotiation were given a spectacular room at the same price. Beware the so called luxury rooms.
Review 93:Most everything, especially the public areas...very good. Also the shopping nd restaurants below, and easy underground access to main station and loop bus.
Review 94:Staff very helpful. Location very convenient. Opposite the railway station and has easy underground access with escalators and lift. A variety of restaurants etc in both the station complex and at basement level of the hotel complex.
Review 95:TV should get at least one or two English channels like CNN or BBC.
Review 96:We were booked into a standard room but after looking it was very small by US standards (i.e. you can only get out of the bed on one side). We upgraded to a deluxe room which was the nicest of the trip. Large, great view, huge bathroom with a tub with it's own TV (sadly Japanese channels only) and shower with 2 heads. Also the concierge was very helpful on several occasions.
Review 97:Nothing!
Review 98:Service is gorgeous as staff responded efficiently to requests with extremely good attitude. Very professional!!
Review 99:Nothing - just what I like in this hotel.
Review 100:Everything that you expect from a great hotel is here.
Review 101:Not much facilities like gym, pool to use. Meal too expensive
Review 102:Location, great view, big room, good service
Review 103:Bed was very hard - this is typical in japaneses hotels though
Review 104:Location was excellent. Great room size with really nice bathroom products
Review 105:Staying at this hotel was part of a surprise birthday gift for my wife, she liked it, a lot. :)
Review 106:Everything perfect!
Review 107:Warm and efficient staff at check-in and baggage service to the room. Enjoyed the Japanese breakfast.
Review 108:I liked how the staff was so nice and welcoming . All the facilities worked wonderfully. It was very comfortable.
Review 109:Wonderful location. Excellent breakfast with great choices.
Review 110:Good location, excellent service
Review 111:Near the train station. Good service. Nice view from the room.
Review 112:No gym n toilet no body moisturiesrs.
Review 113:Breakfast variety is good.
Review 114:The room id not so big
Review 115:Very close to the JR station
Review 116:The pillows are too soft and I could not sleep well.
Review 117:Very good breakfast and food.
Review 118:Good location near the station where we used the train and bus as our transport. It was also value for money.
Review 119:very good locaton
Review 120:Spectacular coastal view of Sea of Japan on the high floor.
Review 121:Nothing major.
Review 122:Location near the station and bus terminus.
Review 123:No
Review 124:Very close to station
