Reviews for Astoria Hotel

Review 1:I should have stayed at least another night in as I later realized Naples Airport has numerous flights to other parts of Europe.

Review 2:I liked that Hotel Astoria was located in the quiet, scenic, friendly town of Vico Equense located between Naples and Sorrento. The hotel itself was located practically right next to the local metro station [CircumVesuviana] with a spectacular view of Mount Vesuvius from the lobby. I felt Mimmo, the amicable owner, and his staff were outstanding in accommodating our every needs, thus making our stay a lovely one.

Review 3:Noice at night from traffic and the train station. Also our front room with a sea view had a strange smell the first day.

Review 4:Great Location, beautiful ocean view from the front room, good breakfast, friendly staff, close to train station...a 50 metre walk to the hotel.

Review 5:Lovely staff who always went out of their way to help. Great views from the terrace looking out to sea. Perfect location for the beach (even if the walk up is a little steep!)

Review 6:Location,friendly staff and clean rooms and linen. All staff were helpful. Liked the patio doors in room. You can see out but others cant see in. Rooms were well soundproofed but try to get an inner room.

Review 7:The 'superior' double room booked with sea view appeared a bit tired with a view to the sea and Mount Vesuvius from one window and the railway station from another. The shower unit was cramped. The room was a bit of a disappointment.

Review 8:Good view out to Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples. Extremely convenient for the Circumvesuviana line to visit Pompeii and Herculaneum. Sorrento is temptingly close via the Circumvesuviana line. Vico Equense itself has a few reasonable bars and restaurants.

Review 9:Our room was balcony was facing the gas station which is also a small bus terminal, so it got very noisy and the fumes got into our room. So that was uncomfortable. We asked to change the room but unfortunately it was fully booked. The bathroom was tiny and we're asians! Would help if they change the door to a sliding one so the space could be more efficient.

Review 10:Mimo and his staffs were excellent. They made us felt so welcome and were extremely helpful and a delight to talk with. The location was perfect, as it's located right next to the Circumvesuviana station at Vico. The hotel comes with a terrace that overlooks the sea and it's just a great place to be. Breakfast was great with a wide selection and it felt great coming back to this hotel after a long day of exploring. Would definitely stay here again and ask for a seaview room!

Review 11:The wifi allows only one user to login at a time, very cumbersome. The breakfast has quantity but lacks quality. No lift in hotel, need to climb up one level to rooms. We stayed in room with sea view but it is obstructed by terrace and people gather till late to talk at the terrace - noisy.

Review 12:Excellent location, literally next to train station. The staff is friendly. The room is big compared to other hotels we stayed in Italy.

Review 13:The only thing we didn't like was that the bed was rock hard.

Review 14:This hotel was nice and easy to find and we had a great view of the bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius from our room and the terrace. The breakfast was superb. The staff was knowledgable and arranged a wonderful day cruise down the Amalfi Coast for us.

Review 15:The street noise during the night was at times excessive due to night street cleaning and garbage clearance. Do realise though that such a busy area would need to have these jobs done at night. Room air con would have enabled us to shut the window.

Review 16:The view from our room was magnificent. Very friendly staff. easy location for trains, caves, shops.

Review 17:Everything was fine!

Review 18:Everything is great - the view on the gulf of Napoli and Vesuvius is terrific, the location of the hotel (just 1 minute walk from Circumvesuviana train station) is convenient if you are going to visit the neighbourhoods like Sorrento, Pompei Scavi, Ercolano and Napoli. The bus stop to Napoli airport is just near the hotel. The hotel itself is great, especially the staff - Mimmo and Antonio are friendly and helpful - dear Mimmo, thank you very much for your "petit cadeau" :-). Breakfasts are very tasty and various - lots of fruits, yogurt, delicious desserts. Maybe the beach is not so good but it was a not a problem for me, I took the train and went to Meta (5 minutes) where there are good big beaches. I like everything! And for sure I will recommend this hotel for my friends!

Review 19:Hotel is tired. Needs to be cleaned up. Bathroom needs a fresh coat of paint, as does everything.

Review 20:The location can not be beat breakfast was good.

Review 21:very small bathroom, old facilities (but comfortable)

Review 22:very close to railway station, great staff

Review 23:Too noisy.not worth the price , more like a 2 star

Review 24:Did not like much , would not recommend to anyone for the price ,at be good for backpackers

Review 27:Convenient to trains Great price

Review 28:Room at the back across blind wall Noise from the street Coffee at breakfast Parking at 10 euro per day

Review 29:Location next to bus/station

Review 30:extremely little space very poor balance of price vs conditions

Review 31:location

Review 32:No elevator..

Review 33:Location and service. Easy to find and to catch train to Sorrento. Good breakfast and Concierge who speaks good English.

Review 34:Matress

Review 35:Breakfast

Review 36:The veiw from the hotel is breathtaking! The personnel was sooo kind:)

Review 37:Location 50m from Circumvesuviana train station Request for change of booked room, which was noisy overlooking bus station was agreed and upgraded to a bigger and quiet room at no charge Breakfast served on terrace Helpful and chatty staff Value for money

Review 38:Er, nothing comes to mind!

Review 39:The location of this lovely well-etablished hotel is excellent, with the railway station two minutes walk away, and wonderful views across the Bay of Naples to Vesuvius. Great staff, friendly and interesting to talk to. Good breakfasts too! we'd recommend this hotel to anybody

Review 40:The music was annoying during the breakfast, because it was the sameevery morning :). It is time to change the cd. A little bit loud trafficin the evenings, but It is recommended to choose rooms with aircondition because you can close the windows so It is not bad.

Review 41:We have spent 10 worderful days in Hotel Astoria. We liked the fantasticview to the Vesuv and the Bay with really deep blue see. The hotelfacilities were basic, but who cares? It was located the best in Viconear to the public trasport. The staff were very friedly they are reallygood people, so this made forget all the tiny mistakes of the Hotel. Thebreakfast was very good (with delicious cakes), the coffee was ok aswell. There are 3 restaurants near I recommend the closest one withparomanic view, and fantastic pizza! Vico Equense is less turistic placethan Sorrento, It is perfect place to start your jurney but don'texpect too much... It has a small (only private) beaches, but on foot ittakes a while to get there, so I recommend to choose the mini"beach" bus, which starts right next the hotel in every 20-30minutes. But you can find much nicer beaches in the Amalfi Coast(Positano, Amalfi city).

Review 42:Dirty towel, very verry verrrrrryyyyy slow (and of course not for free) internet PC (exacly PC, not internet connection itself).

Review 43:Staff was very helpful, fantastic view from terrace.

Review 44:Room was a bit damp and cold, could do with a heater as it didn't get any sun

Review 45:Staff were very friendly and efficient Room was really clean and clean towels every day Near railway and bus station

Review 46:The view of Vesuvius and Bay of Naples from Room 127, from Terrace andfrom Breakfast room amazing. The staff were friendly, helpful, kind. They really made me feel at home, especially as I am a 'senior' female, travelling on my own. The hotel is 1 MIN from good rail service to Naples and Sorrento. On the route for the €10 coach to Naples airport, 40 mins Food shops 30 sec. Staff friendly and helpful Lovely little town square surrounded with good terrace cafés/restaurants No payment until departure. No keeping of credit card details. Facility for cancellation charges moderate The Breakfast choice adequate The facilities were modest, but so was the price VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Vico Equense is a small, friendly town with spectactular views, and unspoilt by mass tourism like Sorrento. Very Italian little town

Review 47:Location of the hotel, is a bit commercial, but the benefits are worth it.

Review 48:Astoria Hotel is a great value for its place on the Sorrentino peninsula. The rooms are bare bones, but clean and neat and well attended. Breakfast buffet is well done. The CircumVesuviana RR is right next door. The RR takes you south to Sorrento where you can access boats to Capri, Ischia and Procidia and north to the important ruins of Ercalano (Herculeum) and Pompei, as all the way north to Naples. Vico is a charming walking town, has a lovely old section. The local church of San Ciro and Giovanni has majolica dome and the only gothic cathedral, SS Annunziata on the peninsula which hangs off the cliffs of Vico as well as a small museum. It butts up to Positano, the first town on the Amalfi Drive, but there is no connection between the two towns. The AQ\malfi Drive is nearby and accessible.

Review 49:Not having a fridge in the room which would be really usefull as its so hot !!

Review 50:Just Love the location of the Hotel and their really good choices for breakfast and the staff especially the manager are so friendly and helpful. Would recommend it and have already to a frend of ours who have booked for next May 2013.

Review 51:The fact that all of our holiday requirements were catered for and the level of customer service was excellent.

Review 52:No wifi for I-pad Beds were uncomfortable

Review 53:Location Helpful staff

Review 54:Very convenient location with views onto Vesuvius; easy to find by car. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 55:Good location - Friendly , helpful staff,
