Reviews for Dormy Inn Kanazawa
Review 1:This hotel is slightly older than the other dormy inns I stayed. The bathroom facilities were a bit worn out.
Review 2:It is located right next to the bus station which is very convenient!
Review 3:Close to the railway station and shopping mall. The samari and geisha old town areas were pretty interesting. A nice Japanese city that was not too touristy. Onsen in hotel.
Review 4:Some staff members have trouble communicating in English.
Review 5:Breakfast buffet is awesome. Good mix of local Japanese seafood and unique local dishes. When it rains (and it happens around the year), shopping mall is just across the hotel.
Review 6:Spa is bit small but acceptable due to its city centre location. Car park fee JYen 1000 per stay.
Review 7:Location, very close to Train station, shopping mall is just next to hotel. Warm feeling comes with free hot noodle in late evening. Hot spa on top floor.
Review 8:Nothing really.
Review 9:Location is excellent, it's just 5 minutes walk from the JR Kanazawa Station. The public onsen is good too - with both indoor & outdoor onsen. They even serve guests ramen as supper for free.
Review 10:It's just perfect!
Review 11:- excellent location, 5-min to the station (bus station #1 side) - I arrived before the check in time, so I kept my luggage in the hotel first. When I came for check in, the staff told me my luggage has already been sent to the room! - lovely hot bath with both in and outdoor hot tub
Review 12:Booking in had tried to upgrade for small price but reception unaware.
Review 13:close to station, free noodles, spa bath Arrived early and rooms were in our room on return from the shops.
Review 14:We loved the stay in Kanazawa and Dormy Inn was a big part of that. - Onsen(or just hot bath, as I do not know if that was natural hot water) was great! Both the ones inside and the one outside. - Breakfast was a morning delight, each day we woke up eager to try new foods and everything was so delicious. - At night you had a cheap version of Ramen served for free. It was good, but far away from the real deal. But it was free! - The room was really comfortable! Except from the small baths, but you should expect that from Japan!
Review 15:There was a bit of an odd smell in the toilet, but it was only noticeable in the toilet.
Review 16:We loved the location of this Dormy Inn, conveniently located near the Kanazawa Train Station. We booked a Japanese room for a family of four and although it was a bit of a squeeze, the room was adequate by Japanese standards. The free ramen each night was great, as was the onsen on the top floor.
Review 17:The staff are polite but very mechanical. They don't even make eye contact when they talk ! They forgot to give me my breakfast coupon although I had booked a room with breakfast included. I had to and ask at the reception and they did not even apologise. They did not have coffee in the room which I have come to expect from the most basic of hotels.
Review 18:The property is close to the station and was convenient. The room was clean and nice.
Review 19:Absolutely perfect hotel : great staff, amazing service, room was fantastic. Onsen is fantastic! Would definitely recommand it! Great location: Close to train station and at walking distance from the market and the park
Review 20:Ridiculously small room. No room to open two cases. No redeeming features. Bathroom too small to fit the sink in so it is next to the room entrance door. Avoid this awful place.
Review 21:Nothing
Review 22:It was a bit difficult to communicate in English. There was only one blanket on the double bed and we couldn't get a second one. I liked very much the hot pool on the roof.
Review 23:The hotel is clean and very good located
Review 24:I really like that you know what you are going to get with Dormy Inns. Near train station, same room look and facilities, pleasant and helpful staff. Good value for money
Review 25:For me, not having a chair in the room made it hard to put on shoes. But I guess that is what Japanese style rooms are all about.
Review 26:Japanese style room and the spa.
Review 27:Very late check in time (3PM), - Lack of flexibility with check in time. (Having spent 17 hrs on a plane, waiting an extra 3 hours to get into an already clean and empty room is annoying! If travelling locally though is OK)
Review 28:Excellent location, (reat for rail links). Small but comfortable room. Good WiFi Nice Spa Excellent tourist bus connections from station
Review 29:behavior of some guests in the bathing area questionable, saw and reported spitting on the floor of the furo area. I think guest from either China or Korea.
Review 30:Breakfast always excellent!! Staff professional and courteous!! Coffee during check in and some other times appreciated Thank you for use of umbrellas during rainy day!!...
Review 31:Everything we needed in a comfy room, with comfy bed and clever thoughtful design. Breakfast had a wide variety of choices and generous offerings. The onsen inside and outside on top floor was very relaxing! Wifi quick and effective, much better than more expensive hotels we've stayed in Japan.
Review 32:The location of the hotel we found was great, as it is close to the train station and busses. The station has a good shopping centre, restaurants and a small supermarket. The breakfast, like the other Dormy hotels we stayed in, had a great choice. The onsen was good, though not as atmospheric as some in the other Dormy hotels. The room is smallish but there was enough space for us to find a place for our luggage so we didn't fall over it.
Review 33:It was our second smallest room during our stay in Japan but also themost expensive. I don't know if this is because we booked lastminute but it's not worth it in our opinion. Unfortunately almosteverything was booked in Kanazawa so we had no choice
Review 34:Located right next to the station. Breakfast was ok. Washing was freeand the dryer only 100yen.
Review 35:We paid for the breakfast at the check-in, but we didn't get coupons from the staff... The next morning we had to wait until some guy was available to make a verification even if I showed my bill to him.
Review 36:Close to the train station. The staff helped us to take a reservation at the Ninja-dera temple...and the free ramen has really pleasant.
Review 37:nothing.
Review 38:Great breakfast (western + Japanese), great location next to the train station and lots of restaurants around. Main attractions are reachable by hop-on/hop-off bus in 20 min. We stayed in two adjacent double-rooms and had no problem with our kids, all what we needed. Friendly staff, gave us restaurant suggestions the night we arrived. A great belt sushi restaurant in the mall in front (with 1 hr waiting list). Will definitely go back in our next trip
Review 39:Staff were very helpful but English skills were lacking. Wifi was not very good considering that this seems more like a business hotel.
Review 40:Ideal location right next to train station if you are traveling by train.
Review 41:Situation for travel to Kanazawa and bus usage-using loop buses- for travel around main sites. Mid-trip stopover and free washing machines, plus washing liquid, with coin use dryers enabled essential washing of clothes after hot sweaty days of traveling. Spa allows for massages and onset well organized. Breakfast mostly Japanese.
Review 42:- Hard bed: though this hardness is pretty normal in Japan, I have stayed in three hotels and all are similarly hard - Wifi without Password, so maybe more unsecure than password protected wifi depending on your precautions
Review 43:- Onsen on roof of Hotel, 14th floor - great breakfast with huge variety: Japanese (Sushi, fish, rice, miso soup, ...), european (Croissant, omelette, fruits, sausages, waffles, ...) - very quiet room: facing away from Kanazawa Train Station - size of double room with wide bed is more than sufficient for one person with luggage.
Review 44:Great hotel, close to the train station, lots of restaurants and shopping. Liked the "extras": free ramen in the evenings and free coffee from the foyer in the mornings. Loved that we could use washing machines for free. And it was great to stay in a hotel with onsen.
Review 45:Basic, but very confortable hotel with all you need - a lot of toiletries, slippers, confotable bed. We loved additional benefits - free ashing mashines, free onsen and (wecouldnotbeliveit) FREE midnight ramen! The location is really convinient by the train station.
Review 46:The hotel really doesn't have a lot of English speaking staff and room facilities are in Japanese only. We couldn't work the air-conditioning and had to take the control to reception to have it explained. You will manage but if you need assistance it will be difficult to communicate without Japanese.
Review 47:Our room was on the top floor near the Onsen and was very quiet. The Onsen was lovely sitting outside with the hot baths and rain falling was lovely. Directly opposite the station and plenty of shopping very close by.
Review 48:Short walking distance from the station (about 5-8 minutes) and across the street from Forus, a department store. Clean room. Great public hot spring baths, including one that is outdoors. You can walk to the convenience store. They will hold your luggage for you before and after checkout. Staff were very nice, and when they saw that I had a bad cold, they allowed me to check in early (something that rarely happens in Japan). I did not eat breakfast or use the wifi so I can't comment on those things. I had a great stay and would definitely stay here again the next time I am in Kanazawa.
Review 49:Bad wi fii connection at my room
Review 50:Big room (family room), right in the heart of kanazawa, love the public bath, and love the hot ramen at night for free
Review 51:Limited English on the laundry machines
Review 52:Close to the JR station. Large public onsen on the top floor. Free quality ramen meal offered late night in the restaurant.
Review 53:- during evening hours no warm water in the room - lobby a bit smelly (food) after dinner
Review 54:- Room was clean and big enough - Spa is nice - useful vending machines with beer - wifi working - friendly staff - deposited luggage was brought to room
Review 55:Very good hotel, very close to the train station so the location was ideal for us. They have a lot of facilities in the hotel that we didn't get a chance to use such as the spa and the late night noodles. However the laundry service was excellent with free washing machines and cheap dryers. It's an easy walk from here to the fish market and other attractions aren't too far either. Highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Kanazawa and at €107 per night for a double room, it's definitely not bad value.
Review 56:Breakfast session is too early for leisure traveller.
Review 57:Less than 3 minutes walk from JR station, and a shopping mall just opposite to the hotel, which provide wide range of foods to choose from. Self-Service laundry really help, and the TV system can monitor the progress easily, which I like most.
Review 58:The size of the room, just a little too small.
Review 59:The location, so close to the train station and right in town. Staff was very helpful. Breakfast was pretty good and plentiful.
Review 60:Twin room with faux tatami was spacious ( and expensive)but nowhere to put things/hang washing. No chairs only cushions around small low table . Disappointed onsen was too hot.
Review 61:Excellent location.Quite nice breakfast with many Japanese choices.Ten top loading washing machines (free) with coin dryers.Quiet so good night's sleep.
Review 62:I really enjoyed the hotel onsen, small but comfortable! They also provide the supper (Ramen) for free, and additional 1200 yen for breakfast it's not a big deal. I enjoyed the buffet style breakfast. The staff also helpful and friendly!
Review 63:We enjoyed the Wonderful onsen experience in DormyInn Kanazawa. The free Supper ( Ramen)was so delicious. Initially we only booked 1 nite, but we extend our stay for another day there.
Review 64:We checked in on 31 december 2014. The hotel is just a few minutes walk from JR station and bus center. We are group of 10 with little kids and elderly person. This location is perfect. We selected this hotel because the images show that it s in the very new condition. And yes, the reality looks the same as images. Onsen with stone bed is relaxing. The surprise is outdoor onsen zone that we can enjoy onsen when there was shower snow. Love this hotel. Definitely stay here again.
Review 65:The bathroom was a bit odd and cold, but nothing too bad.
Review 66:Room size is great, location is fantastic - right at the train station, quiet, staff very friendly
Review 67:We got a double room which was very spacious in terms of what you could get in Japan. Free ramen after 9:30pm although it was very basic. Free hot spa and sauna which was awesome. 2 minutes walk from Kanazawa Station. And shopping center is just next door! If you don't mind doing some foot exercises, main attractions are all within 30 mins walking.
Review 68:The area around the station is nowhere near where all the action is in Kanazawa. So you have to catch a bus to do anything. If I return I would stay in Katamachi or Korinbo
Review 69:Great bath public baths. Easy to find right next to the station.
Review 70:Just situated a 3 minutes walking distance from the JR station, and so very close to the bus stop to major attractions in the city. Room is tidy and comfortable.
Review 71:Small bathroom, the washbasin was slightly smaller than an a4 sized paper and water would splash everywhere during wash. We stayed in Japanese style room, there wasn't much space for more than 4 open-cabin sized luggages when the futons are spreaded out but it's fine considering the price of room, excellent location from Kanazawa station.
Review 72:Spacious dinning area scrumptious breakfast and free supper ramen and reasonable sized onsen. Facilities are good.
Review 73:Wi fi dropped out frequently Not many restaurants around
Review 74:This is a typical Dormy Inn with quite large rooms, an onsen and free noodles at 9.30 Close to station, within walking distance of all attractions Supermarket at station, but fruit is better bought at the markets 10 min walk away.
Review 75:nothing
Review 76:very close to the train station. room was very clean, a good size and had a nice view from a high floor (we were on floor 11). breakfast included was a bonus but was average. we enjoyed our stay in Kanazawa.
Review 77:The restaurant was not very well ventilated so breakfast cooking smells stuck to our clothes for the day.
Review 78:Very handy for Kanazawa station. Useful self service laundry facility. Loved the onsen!
Review 79:Not a nice view out of the window - over a parking lot and to the next building (5th floor) and over to pachinko center whose publicity was a bit disturbing, however night shades were very efficient. But the view is not really an issue, we did not arrive to Kanazawa Dormy Inn for looking out of the hotel window, but for sleeping.
Review 80:Hotel is in 3 minutes walking distance from the train station and bus station. Every Kanazawa city- as well as inter-city buses stop close to the station. Very good choice of Japanese food for breakfast (we do not like eating Western food when in Asia so we can't judge it).
Review 81:One morning they must have been busy as we had to wait an hour for a table for a breakfast sitting.
Review 82:Wonderful staff who helped us over and above normal service with printing an urgent form we needed on their printer, directions to great places to eat and general helpfulness. A good location near station and wonderful breakfast array
Review 83:The location was perfect for us. It is just outside the JR Kanazawa station and a 15 min walk to the Castle and Gardens. Plus there are plenty of restaurants nearby. The room was quiet and clean and the bed was very comfortable. Checking in and out is quick and easy. The desk staff spoke decent English. When we checked out, the front desk stored our bags for several hours at no cost. We chose to store our valuables in a locker at the JR station, but we left our clothes and general luggage at the hotel.
Review 84:Nothing. Everything was perfect. I recommend this hotel, price is ok for the service.
Review 85:The room was big enough, better than the standard Japanese. Breakfast was excellent with both Japanese and western styles. Friendly and helpful staff. The onsen was nice as well.
Review 86:-my husband said the bath were too crowded and really disgusting with hairs everywhere -for women, sinks at bathroom were crowded and not really clean -room was really small, you can't open 1 suitcase
Review 87:-hotel and room were clean -really close to the station -bath on the top ok
Review 88:The hotel is nicely situated. At first is seems to be far from the centre but is is very convenient to be so close to the station. You don't need to travel much with your suitcases, 2min walk, and you are right next to the busstop with a loop bus that takes you to all the main sites of the city. The hotel is clean, has big beds and a wonderful onsen, one of the best we came across in a wetern style hotel in Japan. the price was great too.
Review 89:Couldn't use the onsen because I have a tattoo, but my daughter loved it.
Review 90:Great location, just steps from the train station! Eco-friendly hotel -- your room key operates the electricity! Free noodles at night served as our late-night dinner! Free washing machine; 100 yen ($1) for the dryer.

Review 116:Sleeping on a bed! The onsen on top floor was spectacular.
