Reviews for D'Brug Homestay

Review 1:There is no safe available so bring your valuables with you. No one to watch over the place when you are not around. No breakfast (we dun mind actually=)) as its a homestay so we ordered macdonalds for breakfast. There's no carpark at the homestay. So we parked at a public carpark nearby a hotel which is 2 mins walk to the homestay.

Review 2:The owner is very nice, Mr Keong, contacted me 2 weeks before to confirm of our arrival. Upon arrival, we somehow lost our way, so Mida(1 of the owner i guess) came to fetch us at the public carpark and show us the way to the homestay. We got upgraded to a new unit just blocks away and its SUUPERR NICE and BIG and BEAUTIFUL and MOST IMPORTANT,THE TOILET IS CLEAN! =) Tat made us really satisfied with our stay. The rooms are decorated with hand paintings which is gorgeous. There's a microwave to heat up your foods, sink, wi-fi available too. Location is at the center of the city. Walking distance to Jonker Walk. We are a group of 11. So the bigger unit was 2 storey, had a balcony on the 2nd floor overlooking the river which is nice, had 4 bedrooms and all with attached bathrooms. Very convenient for our big group. Hand towels and towels provided. LOVING OUR STAY THERE. All of us can't stop praising how beautiful the homestay was. =) Would definitely stay there again!

Review 3:The shower curtain rail was broken. There was no tv on the ground floor.

Review 4:Accessibility! Though many shops are closed on weekends. Halal food was not a problem at all. The owner bought a brand new iron board and iron when we enquired if there iron would be provided.

Review 5:The place doesn't have any staff that can watch over the place all the time. Don't leave any valuables.

Review 6:Our group was 3 families with 4 little kids. This place was perfect because the kids were able to play around together without disturbing other guests. The view of the river by the window was great, too.

Review 7:Wi fi access to more people could have been given, showers and blinds for the windows need some tending - pls look into it.

Review 8:Location offers stroll by the river, good views of the river and the boats passing by, good food nearby. Service is warm and helpful, no extra frills in terms of breakfast and housekeeping - but that's how homestays are.

Review 9:There's lots of ants near the pantry area. Also, lots of mosquitoes in the house. Got stung while sleeping.

Review 10:Spacious, quiet location. Good view as it's beside the river. Walking distance to Jonker street and also to most attractions.

Review 11:Road leading to house is too narrow - need to walk out Instead of van coming to you. The space outside the house is public property. Be prepared for strangers using the premises outside. Pillows are too soft for some. Be prepared for smell from the nearby river.

Review 12:Very helpful owner with great recommendations for great cuisine! Tasteful decorations - homely feel - enough space for 14 persons with 5 uniquely decorated rooms. Reasonably fast wifi, very clean premises. Close proximity to many attractions.

Review 13:The wifi in the bedroom is quite slow.

Review 14:i had good time to spend at D'brug. The owner was nice, the decoration is exactly what I see on photo. I will be back here one day in future.

Review 15:-the front door doesnt have curtains and people from outside can see straight through. -the wifi can be used by only one device? -the TV broke

Review 16:-the bedrooms are nice and cozy -the facilities are complete

Review 17:Parking up the one lane cul-de-sac is difficult with other cars / motorbikes blocking the way. Can't get into the lane several times and need to wait for a parking space at the nearby public car park.

Review 18:Self-contained town house beside the river that provides a different holiday experience than the established hotel chains.

Review 19:We have to look on the free parking nearest the area, no basic television channel.

Review 20:Excellent environment, good outdoor scenery & interior design. Really suggested for 10 group member.

Review 21:Need to walk a bit from jonker street.

Review 22:We got ourselves the 3 bedrooms (at the 2nd level) for 10 of us. Nicely deco rooms with attached bathroom at all rooms. Great for group. Quiet surrounding but yet next to the river. Overall was a great stay and we will recommend to other friends too.

Review 23:Happy with the homestay, enjoy with my family

Review 24:Parking is an issue

Review 25:Don't have the car parking

Review 26:All the facility

Review 27:Have a lot of mosquito

Review 28:Really convenient for you go to town or jonker street

Review 29:Not much not to like, except maybe parking could be better, but that's nitpicking.

Review 30:Pretty much everything.

Review 31:Not a big deal but would have been nice if spare toilet rolls were available.

Review 32:Large, comfortable and clean house, great for my group of friends. Location was near Jonker Street though it was slightly hard to find (especially while driving). Kudos to the staff who spotted us looking for the house and called me :)

Review 33:One thing was annoying, although partly our fault: we're used to check out being 12 am, it turned out to be 11. The cleaning personal showed up at 1045 and sort of threw us out! The whole experience would've been so much more pleasant if they gave us 15 min to pack up in peace!

Review 34:Fantastic location! Beautiful house, right by the river! I wanna buy that place and move there! Loved it!

Review 35:I don't like the hotel there are a lot of ants! It is very annoying. The ants get into our bags when we realised. Although the interior design is beautiful, but when you are travel with children, you need to be extra careful, because the glass lamp are very fragile and it's everywhere. (Just to add-on, maybe we are "luckily", the night of we staying, there is a river performance, last about 20-30 min. It's noisy.)

Review 36:I like the view of the hotel, it is exactly facing the river of Melaka. And the interior design is beautiful.

Review 37:Parking of car. Needed to park in the street. Noise if upstairs residents are noisy, and ours were Insufficient privacy from the upstairs apartment. The stairwell is not walled

Review 38:Being close to the historic parts of Melaka and eateries Being on the waterfront The accommodation is nicely decorated

Review 39:Nothing in particular!

Review 40:This is probably one of the most amazingly beautiful home stay which I had stayed till date. I chanced upon the D'Brug Home Stay through www.booking.com when I was in the midst of sourcing for suitable accommodation for my annual family retreat. The owner of the D'Brug Home Stay, Keong, is extremely helpful in assisting me with all my queries a month before our trip to Melaka. Keong takes more than merely the extra miles to help us in our booking, but he even gone to the extent of giving us a surprise by buying us a big birthday cake and 3 boxes of local delights on our day of arrival. D'Brug Home Stay looks exactly the same in pictures and the cleanliness of the home stay is superb. A big thumbs up to the D'Brug Home Stay and Keong for his wam hospitality.

Review 41:Located at the end of a small alley, parking (if more than one car) might be an issue especially during busy work days.

Review 42:Great interior decor, great view out of the master bedroom.. the bean bags in the living area makes for a great hang out place..

Review 43:The owner of the house was very friendly & very accommodating.. The house itself has this WoW factor that its definitely value for money.. beautifully decorated in a modern concept & it suits well for families with young children.. the view of the river is fantastic! provide basic necessities like boilers (coffee/tea sachets), plenty of chilled mineral water (very useful for hot climate in Malacca), microwave oven, fridge, cutleries n plates (including for kids too!) and basic toiletries.. location wise, its near to most tourist attraction spots, shopping area & food/beverage area if you're driving.. will definitely return to D'Brug Homestay in the coming months..!!! -5* for D'Brug Homestay-
