Reviews for Hotel Villa Cipressi

Review 1:The hydronic heating in the room was working when we arrived and was lovely but stopped working afterwards and we had 2 freezing nights with essentially no heating despite reassurances from the staff that the heating was working

Review 2:Great location, lovely grounds

Review 3:Hotel Cipressi is a top-quality hotel in every aspect. We loved the historic building, lovely gardens, and magical lake views. Every staff member was friendly and helpful (Davide especially so!) First-class dinner and breakfast.

Review 4:modest breakfast

Review 5:located at the lake- terrific view and very nice garden- tourist were coming in to pay and se the gardens while we could enjoy them anytime; historical villa, central location - walking distance from all cafes and restaurants; very picturesque little town

Review 6:Abysmal wifi - essentially unusable. Bit of a trek from the train and ferry. The annex only has stairs.

Review 7:Beautiful views, excellent food, helpful staff.

Review 8:Very expensive for a 3 star hotel. Breakfast could be a little bit better for the money that is paid. You have to park in the public across the road at 20 euro per day. The nearby hotels had deals.

Review 9:Beautiful Hotel and gardens. Really professional and helpful staff. Fantastic views. Attended a beautiful wedding in the hotel and would thoroughly recommend anyone hosting their big day there.

Review 10:We have stayed here two different times and honestly cannot think of anything that we do not like!

Review 11:Although the rooms could use a little lift, they are clean and the grounds and gardens are magnificent! A room with a lake view is a must! The staff are so friendly!! The walk to the boat/ferry is so beautiful and picturesque!

Review 12:The comfort and quality of our room was below the standard you'd expect for the price paid. We had the lowest category available at 170€ per night for s double.

Review 13:The Front Desk was really helpful & knowledgable.

Review 14:Everything was terrific.

Review 15:After arriving late, the amazing Davide welcomed us in an incredibly warm manner and couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The hotel is itself incredible, with an amazing garden and even more amazing view from our bedroom window of the lake. The staff helped with everything from cheaper tours to dinner recommendations. Be sure to visit the gardens and say hello to Davide, he will be most helpful.

Review 16:Our room didn't have AC so we had to sleep with windows open. Felt a little unsafe. Also, our room wasn't great for two people. But, we got a low priced room.

Review 17:Grounds were lovely, staff were extremely friendly, breakfast was good and location was great.

Review 18:Facinating Villa and Location with overwhelming garden. clean quiet and comfortable.Good breakfast. Especially to mention is the friendly and lways helpful staff at reception - Tatjana and Davide - we will come back for suree.

Review 19:Missing aircondition , barfridge and coffee or tea arrangement in room are lacking . Coffee with breakfeast not great. No pool or private beach for hotel.

Review 20:The view and location was supurb, the front off house and reception very helpfull and friendly.

Review 21:We are there on some very hot days and there was no air conditioning. Just a cooling fan (like a mini swamp cooler) that didn't really cool at all. Some rooms had ceiling fans but we didn't have one. The rooms need to be updated.

Review 22:The location is absolutely beautiful. The staff went out of their way to be helpful, and we appreciated all they did.

Review 23:The interior of the rooms look like a motel 6. We had to pity the guests who were informed there was no solution to their lack of air conditioning until Monday (it was Saturday). It was 90 degrees ...

Review 24:The front desk staff are friendly, helpful, and speak excellent English (we were especially impressed by the night desk person whose name escapes me--she arranged dinner reservations for us, helped us navigate an early departure, and gave us info re a festival). And the air conditioning worked like a champ!

Review 25:a little distance from the train station if you have many luggages/traveling with a baby like us but You can easily get a taxi for $10 flat rate (if you travel light, the walk should be pretty easy and you can enjoy the views along the way

Review 26:-amazing views & beautiful gardens -wide selection for breakfast - receptionists were very warm, helpful & friendly - the hotel/villa is old but this is what make this place so charming, I guarantee you'll have a unique experience - location is good, walking distance to restaurants/shops in town

Review 27:Nothing at all.

Review 28:Stunning view, beautiful property with a gorgeous garden. Didn't have the chance to try the restaurant, but our booking included breakfast and we loved it.

Review 29:The hotel was a very comfortable and romantic place to stay on Lake Como. The beds are firm (which I prefer), the staff was extremely helpful and friendly, and the breakfast was very good. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay.

Review 30:No real bad experiences, just an old building so the room was a little small, we asked and payed for a lake view and got a side window to look out, I was expecting a front window, but I guess I got a view of the lake, all be it limited.

Review 31:Location and staff were very good.

Review 32:Our room, facing street/mountains, was damp and cold, and it took 2 days of asking for them to turn the heat on--but then it was either on or off, no climate control. People we spoke to in rooms with lake view did not have this issue. It's also a long hike from the train or ferry if you have big suitcases.

Review 33:The gardens were lovely and the daytime receptionist was quite helpful and friendly.

Review 34:Our room on the second morning was infested with Ants they were all over out clothes, bed etc.

Review 35:The location of the Hotel was superb, with amazing views of the Lake.

Review 36:Nothing!

Review 37:The Villa Cipressi hotel was amazing! The hotel gardens are awesome, and even better than some of the surrounding villas where you were charged for entrance. The hotel staff were very friendly and greeted us every time we passed by. They also made lots of great recommendations for the area. Tip: request room 207 when booking, it has the best balcony view!

Review 38:Tea making facilities in the room would have been very welcome.

Review 39:The views from the garden and hotel are beautiful. Davide on the reception desk was very friendly, polite and helpful and an asset to the running of the hotel.

Review 40:We had a corner room with a great view of the lake. The breakfast had a good selection. The location of the hotel was close to everything! The staff was exceptional and helpful!

Review 41:Nothing. We hope to return next year.

Review 42:Historic building. Beautiful views and gardens. Beside the Villa Monestero. We arrived just in time for the 5 course Easter lunch - wonderful!

Review 43:Lack of Common space. WiFi only worked in a very small area of the hotel. Could upgrade beds

Review 44:Fantastic setting. Beutilful building and Garden. Helpfully staff. Good restaurant.

Review 45:Breakfast room. There was a group staying at the villa and the breakfast room was crowded and noisy. After a quiet night it was a bit of a shock to have such a noisy breakfast.

Review 46:We enjoyed every moment of our time in the Villa Cipressi. Our room had a lake view which was wonderful. Very comfortable bed and a good size bathroom. Will definitely stay here again.

Review 47:The room was a little old, but was clean, no wifi in room.

Review 48:The villa has a very lovely garden, and excellent view of the lake. The front desk is very friendly and the breakfast was fantastic.

Review 49:No screens in the windows and mosquitos. They did have a nice overhead fan so we were able to shut the windows. In the heat of summer this could be difficult. We were there Oct 1.

Review 50:Hotel Villa Cipressi, has an amazing view from the gardens. Perfect place to sit and sip wine, nice breakfast.

Review 51:Our room (20) had a lovely view but was a short distance from a day care facility which was very noisy. Also got loud noises from night revelers. An arduous walk to the ferry dock and train station.

Review 52:Beautiful old villa in magnificent lakeside location with lovely garden. Short relatively flat walk to church and village square. Superb consistently good cuisine with attentive professional service.

Review 53:Softness of pillows

Review 54:Ideal location with spectacular views of Lake Como. Ideal place to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. Good base for exploring the local area,

Review 55:The rooms are large but a little bit old fashioned

Review 56:The hotel has a lovely grand feel to it, set in beautiful gardens. The staff were really helpful and made our stay very enjoyable.

Review 57:This hotel is a former villa itself adjusted to a great garden, and also adjusted another large villa, Monastello which you can visit. View from the room is superb. Restaurant is nice, too. Vesitalian menu available.

Review 58:Perfect central location. Very strong customer service. Basic but lovely breakfast, and you're well looked after over breadfast time. Clean, airy rooms with either a Lake or main square view. Would definitely recommend if you want a no-fuss traditional Italian break.

Review 59:No negative comments.

Review 60:Location was perfect and close to everything, town centre, restaurants, boat transport. The Hotel's gardens were magnificent, set along the shore line of the lake.

Review 61:Door lock is still with the convention metal key system in which is very cumbersome to carry and you can easily forget to lock your room.

Review 62:Hotel staff are so friendly and helpful, they tried to speak English. Location has a excellent view of the lake and temperature even in summer seems to be very comfortable.

Review 63:Parking is a little tricky, 20 Euros for 24 hours in multi storeybut there is free unrestricted parking about 200 metres from thehotel as you head out of town. We were lucky enough to find a spacemost evenings.

Review 64:The staff were super friendly, they seemed genuinely keen to ensure wehad the best experience in the hotel and the town. If they recommendedsomething, they would check the next day that we had been happy withtheir suggestions. The gardens are great fun to explore, the views arebreath taking, breakfast very enjoyable. Restaurant food excellent.Would be very happy to visit again !

Review 65:We booked Hotel Villa Cipressi expecting a relatively nice small hotel. I can quite honestly say this is one the best hotels we have stayed in. The facilities are clean and comfortable but its the views and garden that make this place special. Just a couple of minutes walk from Varenna's centre this has its own gardens which lead down to the waters edge and provide areas of seclusion that you can get lost in all afternoon. I would recommend this to all travelers going through the area.

Review 66:The parking garage was very nice and was convenient. Pricing at 20 euro per night was a bit high

Review 67:Tatiana was exceptional. Very responsive before the trip and extremely attentive and helpful when we were there. The restaurant was amazing !! One if the best meals I've had The view of the lake and convenience to restaurants and the ferry exceptional

Review 68:Nothing important to mention!

Review 69:Varenna is heaven on earth...and Villa Cipressi is my dream place! My husband and I were staying there with our family and friends and its where we had our wedding reception.
