Reviews for Hotel Diego de Mazariegos

Review 1:If I was being picky, the room was a little dark, even with all the lights on. It was difficult not to get water all over the bathroom floor when showering.

Review 2:Perfect location, beautiful property with quiet courtyard in the middle, nice bedroom & bathroom. We arrived very late at night but it wasn't a problem to check in. San Cristobal is an excellent place to spend some time, our favourite place in our 3 weeks in Mexico.

Review 3:Toilet valve kept flowing and service men didn't have replacement parts. They kept coming and "fixing" each time we repoorted it.

Review 4:Very good restaurant in place

Review 5:the room are bit tiny, no breakfast included in the price . some staff members are not very nice and dont speake english , they dont even try to understand ...

Review 6:location , decor of the hotel

Review 7:The only downside is that the hotel is a bit noisy but it is a noisy city so I dont think other places would do better.

Review 8:This is a lovely property in a wonderful location close to everything downtown San Cristobal has to offer.

Review 9:The main rooms are built around an exceptionally beautiful quadrangle. The rooms themselves are large with one's own patio in the rear. It's worth having the fireplace lit every evening.

Review 10:the wifi at times in the room was a bit spotty. To upload any larger filesI had to leave the room and go into the central court yard area

Review 11:Great stay , I met a friend from Oaxaca in San Cristóbal and we both felt very comfortable at this hotel. The location couldn't be better. The room was also quiet , and away from the street noise and though there is a bar / restaurant on the corner, we never heard the loud music in our room. Plenty of hot water at all hours. Would return to this hotel.

Review 12:The showers are not good - no water pressure. The hotel's excellent location does come at a price - my room was next to a busy street, and it was very noisy all the time. I slept restlessly both nights.

Review 13:The hotel was wonderful - I arrived in San Cristóbal very early in the morning and the staff were kind enough to allow me to enjoy immediate access to my room. All the staff members were so friendly. Not all speak English but there was usually someone who could, when my limited Spanish failed me. Tip: make sure you go to the bakery right near the hotel, on Calle Diego Mazariegos - the best almond croissant and pan au chocolate I've ever had!

Review 14:I was a little disappointed since we arrived, at the lobby they sent us to another location (an extension of the hotel?), when we got the this lobby, the staff didn't seem too bright. Had to repeat my reservation names, and other information more than 3 times! The rooms were super cold, no heating nothing. I read some reviews talking about a fire place, well my room didn't have one. The bathroom was really cold too, so kind of hard to take a shower. Noisy rooms Poor wifi in rooms Definitely too expensive for the service.

Review 15:Location Decoration

Review 16:Noise Islation of the rooms is very bad and the hotel staff do not care to keep quiet people around the walking area front the bedrooms ( luggage mens, children, noisy guests

Review 17:the location: close to all main restaurant and shop

Review 18:Our first room, located to the parking lot (no secured door, everybody could walk in) had a plumbing problem. After two nights we got. A pleasant room.

Review 19:The central location, the colonial style of the building

Review 20:Bad service: we had to change our room on our second day without knowing it earlier. The staff was quite unfriendly when explaining this.

Review 21:Location, room, fireplace in the room

Review 22:The rooms are quite dark, with cold stone floors, but great for sleeping. There was a noisy roadwork just outside my window, starting around 7 in the morning...

Review 23:Very comfortable beds, with proper blankets as it gets very cold during the nights! Clean rooms.

Review 24:The only bad thing is that if your neighbors speak a little loud you can hear everything.

Review 25:Hotel is pretty and clean, comfortable, walking distance to everything (san cristobal is all about walking). The staff is very nice, helpful, they get everything for you from tours and taxis, restaurant suggestions, etc.

Review 26:Breakfast buffet was very ordinary . Room although lovely was on street front and noisy at night.

Review 27:Great location in historic centre .Wonderful large room with high ceilings ,fireplace and spa (we were upgraded from room we had booked)

Review 28:The price is a bit too high in my opinion, and the internet didnt work it our room

Review 29:Very nice and comfortable, The room was quite cozy and warm, which is a huge bonus on a chilly night

Review 30:We were two adults and two children in the bed, we had only two towels, I asked for more and they never sent it to the room.

Review 31:Facilities and food are excellent.

Review 32:Breakfast is not included

Review 33:Decor is amazing. Rooms are a bit cold, but once inside the bed is fine. The rooms have a chimney which is a plus. The Staff was very kind. They organize tours around San Cristobal de las Casas. everything was excellent.

Review 34:The rooms are all inside a big aquarium which makes the feeling a little wierd. Very poor wifi in rooms. We heard other guests complaining about it too. Heating up the rooms costs mony wich is wierd cause thats an a basic humanitarian need when its cold.

Review 35:Great location. Beutifull entrance.

Review 36:Reception staff not exactly friendly (although we are independent so didnt need them) but the man in their car park was fantastic and really helpful giving us directions!

Review 37:Located right in the middle of San Cristobal and had good, free, off street parking which we needed. Room was a good size with a big bed and rustic features so felt cozy.

Review 38:All was good. Room so quiet.

Review 39:Very nice accommodation. Next to the centre.

Review 40:Location terrific. Walking distance to Zocalo, shops, restaurants. Beds very comfortable. Bathroom well appointed.

Review 41:Excellent location, in the heart of the city. Very good attention from the staff.

Review 42:Poor breakfast

Review 43:Beautiful place! Spacious bad room , excellent location

Review 44:VERY CLEAN AND STAFF VERY FRIENDLY...LOVED THE BAR INSIDE THE HOTEL

Review 45:Worn out towels Staff acting more like a travel agency than hotel staff

Review 46:Location Rooms & Atmosphere Balcony

Review 47:They did not have flan. Missed that.

Review 48:It is close to center, easy to get to, lovely people. Have always enjoyed staying ther. Have for many years.

Review 49:I lost my bankcard whilst there and the staff were extremely helpful in helping me deal with it.

Review 50:Very Noisy

Review 51:Location and architecture of building

Review 52:internet was slow... that is all.

Review 53:Location and how cozy the hotel is

Review 54:The beds are stone hard!

Review 55:Great hotel, really close to the centro

Review 56:The Hotel staff was very accomodating and the facility quite nice

Review 57:Nothing bad to say!

Review 58:The room was TOO COLD

Review 59:Location

Review 60:The hotel could get quite noisy.

Review 61:The room was very spacious and had a nice balcony. There is also a lovely main courtyard.

Review 62:It is amazing how the staff at this reputable hotel can be so ignorant and unfriendly, or should I say uninterested in trying to answer simple questions. We stayed here 2 years ago and had forgotten the poor staff! It is still the same! Next time we will make sure not to go here again! The bathroom is a 2 star excuse! Shower DRIPS, 2(!) threadbare towels, if we would have fired up the wood burning stove we would have filled the room with smoke since the stove was not sealed!! No other heating available so you have to freeze in March!

Review 63:Location cannot be better. Very nice patio for a beer in the afternoon. The guy selling trinkets in the lobby is very nice and an asset to this place!

Review 64:This hotel met all our expectations.

Review 65:Friendly and helpful staff. Some spoke a little English which helped our Spanglish :-) Our king bed was very comfortable and the room was large with a wonderful in room charcoal heater. Breakfast was great at the hotel restaurant!

Review 66:The power went out the early morning I had to leave. No telephone or Internet. I asked the guard for a flash light. He didn't have one. I had to pack in the dark. Then when I needed help hailing a taxi, no one was at the front. I had to let myself out and find my own cab. I won't come back. It is too high a price to pay for these accommodations.

Review 67:The major problem of the room we got was the noise: non stop day and night (we were in the Hacienda part, in the room 107, that gives directly on the street 1 de Marzo). The room was tiny and not at all of the level of a 4 stars hotel. The "King size" bed was about 1m40. When we asked to changed, we were told "King size" was only on availability and that the hotel was fully booked (our booking was for a room with King size bed thought). The next morning we were allowed to change, for a room (as noisy and as small but) with a king size bed. I believe you would be more comfy asking to have a room on the inside of the building.

Review 68:The central location would be good, if there was a good isolation/insonorisation system. The bathroom is new and clean.

Review 69:Although breakfast at restaurant was great, I would not recommend eating any other meals there. Our dinner was very ordinary (as with many hotels)

Review 70:Cosy, comfortable beds, delicious breakfast, nice hot shower with good water pressure, great location. Beautiful old building close to everything.

Review 71:Staff were very helpful and friendly. Rooms were very clean, adequate size, charming little balcony, good bathroom, excellent shower, beds a little hard though clean and warm. Hotel overall charming, immaculate, and quiet despite being on a city street. Interior courtyard lovely, Exquisite stone basins filled with white and purple chrysanthemum flowers.

Review 72:The room safe froze on us. But they got it reopened and fixed in 3 hours on a Saturday evening. Not their fault, and a good response.

Review 73:We were at the hotel for four days. It was quiet in the off-season. The hotel itself is meticulously maintained, clean and *beautiful*. The rooms vast and gently heated (it's otherwise pretty cold at nights) and twice we had them stoke and light the Chimenee fire in the evening. Very comfortable.

Review 74:Breakfast is good, but the restaurant in general is not good. Use the restaurants in the city center instead.

Review 75:The hotel is located very close to the center of the city. The rooms is big and rustic.

Review 76:the breakfast was good but san cristobal has lots of other cheap and good breakfast locations to check out.

Review 77:everything was great, the stuff, the rooms. the hotel was realy beautiful. we came for our honeymoon and got our moneys worth :-)

Review 78:The Diego de Mazariegos is perfectly located one block from the zocolo which make it close enough to be near anything in town but just far enough from late night noise. The hotel itself is a beautifully appointed hacienda: a central courtyard with the rooms all off the cloisters along the perimeter. The rooms themselves have modern amenities like cable and Internet, but wood burning fireplaces and separate sink basins outside the bathroom added to the old world charm. the staff, while not terrific with English, were charming in their attempts to help in any way possible. One of the clerks even looked up all my transportation options, unasked, to help me get to my next destination more easily. I would stay here again if ever I find myself in the area in the future.

Review 79:The hotel is divided into two buildings. The bar is in one building and the restaurant is in another. The bar is a sports bar and lacks ambience.

Review 80:The hotel has a very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is built in traditional colonial style with a courtyard and large modern comfortable rooms that keep with this style. The restaurant serves excellent food. The hotel is well located only a block from the main plaza. It is quiet and peaceful.

Review 81:Room 315 is right beside the ventilation system which made a rather loud vibrating noise all night. Staff were kind enough to reduce the fans at night after we asked. Some street noise on the weekend. But the room itself was great.

Review 82:The hotel building is beautiful with its old style and inner courtyard with fountain and flowers. Rooms were spacious and very comfortable. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Review 83:physically beautiful building in the colonial style

Review 84:The internet connection in the room was very weak.

Review 85:It was very quiet and relaxing.

Review 86:The room was large and spacious. The bed was fantastic. The bathroom was perfect. The location couldn't have been better.

Review 87:parking was awkard. no hotel parking, but only hunt on the streets

Review 88:beautifully appointed small hotel in the center of town

Review 89:Not good wi-fi connection. Not a good value for the money.
