Reviews for Jonker Boutique Hotel

Review 1:No lift, stairs very steep. We were on the top floor. It was an effort to get to the top, but well worth it.

Review 2:Staff were brilliant, location, ambiance, an old building lovingly cared for. The room was large and comfortable.

Review 3:The tap water is not clean, brownish colour which is not clear water. Cleanliness of the room and toilet need to be improved. Lots of pest in the room.

Review 4:The location is extremely good.

Review 5:Toilet safety, the bathtub is build too high and even with a step to narrow the distance , it has no grab bar to enter and leave the slippery bathtub and the step is wet and could easily caused a bad fall. The shower screen is shaky and could easily dismount . Danger awaiting to happen ! It's basic to provide a safe showering facilities.

Review 6:For the location and price I think it's a fair deal however basic things like toilet safety and cleanliness are important .

Review 7:Can't think of anything.

Review 8:Beautiful historic building. Near the temples and restaurants but away from the craziness of the Main Street. Comfortable, clean, quiet room.

Review 9:The staff are always in good mood, attentive and eager to help me in everything. Without hesitation they had lent me an adapter, showed me directions to great spots in the city and they gave me a good exchange rate for my dollars. Of course the location of the hotel is just perfect.

Review 10:could not take a hot shower as the heater was broken, and the bed was very hard. for the price I paid (roughly RM 270/night) I would have expected better.

Review 11:convenient location, clean room, free onsite parking, friendly english-speaking staff, complimentary welcome drink

Review 12:There is no lift. It's fine with me but that just mean i can't bring elderly to stay there. The stairwell is a bit narrow and part of it has no handrail. It'll be dangerous for older people.

Review 13:Location. It's got a private carpark even though it's right in Jonker Walk. I didn't know (I didn't ask..) and because it's a one way road, I made a few turn but couldn't find the right way towards it. So i just parked elsewhere and walked to the hotel. The bed and pillow is super comfortable. Room design is chic and very clean.

Review 14:The hotel is in the center of activitiy in Melacca - yonker street, artist shops are at a short walk away. You can find everything there. The hotel has a colonial feel to it and rooms are spacious, clean and with everything you need for your stay. The sights are are all within 15 minutes from the hotel. Staff realy makes you feel welcome.

Review 15:No smoking room but can smell smoke from earlier stayed even after clean up ! Room 101

Review 16:Location, clean and friendly staff. Price may bit expensive maybe because of location. Free parking

Review 17:The hotel is convenient to a wide variety of good restaurants and to all the historic sites. The staff were helpful and maintained the room impeccably. The rooms have old world charm with modern convenience.

Review 18:By asking for the taxi the old night porter didn't understand us, so we asked the next morning and everything was fine

Review 19:Good location in walking distance to the main heritage Road , fancy mix of modern and heritage room design,

Review 20:for the price we pay, we would have appreciate a complementary breakfast.

Review 21:the location was just perfect!a mere 5m away from jonker street! and the welcome drink was awesome too! haha..

Review 22:The room lighting was a bit dim (which was a problem for my mother who has poor vision) and some of the lights were fused. Part of th steps leading up don't have a railing. Which iw again a problem for old people.

Review 23:The bathroom was really nice. Spacious, well designed and very well lit. The staff were very helpful. The room was very spacious too and the beds were clean and very comfortable.

Review 24:Breakfast not available but this's not a problem as you can find many places to have a coffee near the hotel

Review 25:Great position of the hotel, great staff and room very spacious.

Review 26:Didn't like how unsound-proofed the rooms are. Can literally hear foot steps of guests from the above room throughout the day and night. Coming from a light sleeper, it kills!

Review 27:Love the convenience of hotel being located right at the start of jonker street as well as the weekend night market. Can nvr go hungry

Review 28:Excellent location with Jonker street just downstairs. Simple facilities but good enough, staff were all friendly and very helpful. Will definitely book again.

Review 29:Should have breakfast as an option. Hotel should consider putting in a lift especially for older people.

Review 30:Good location on Jonker Street. Rooms are good size and clean.

Review 31:Be aware that there is no lift, but staff assist with getting luggage to/from rooms.

Review 32:Staff and location were excellent. Staff assisted with inquiries on restaurants and activities, providing helpful information. They also addressed some room concerns promptly to resolve minor issues.

Review 33:Smelly in common areas. I got a allergic crisis. Very weak wifi. Thereis no receptionists working early in the morning in case you need anyhelp. I had problems in booking a taxi at 7:00am. Suggestion: use theapp GrabTaxi

Review 34:Bathroom and bedroom comfortable and clean. Good location. After 10:30pmthe street gets quiet. Good amenities. Nice staff.

Review 35:Seriously I cannot spot anything for me to dislike or complaint.

Review 36:This my third time staying at Jonker Boutique. Beside no lift everything is great. Location is great. Alot fun during everning time. The night market and lot of local delights.

Review 37:The lobby is very basic, but the excellent rooms make up very well for it. Breakfast is not included; you will find plenty options down the street.

Review 38:The rooms are really beautiful and the bathroom is stunning (family room #105). It's right on Jonker street, a nice walk to the city center. Highly recommended!

Review 39:Didn't dislike anything.. But the boutique hotel is near the karaoke stage so you get live music till abt 10.40pm on weekends. I enjoyed it but some might find it noisy..

Review 40:Just at end of jonker street.. Right where all the activities and shops are.. Room has high ceiling. The premier deluxe room is big and spacious.

Review 41:If you don't like noise this will be far too noisy for you, i liked hearing all the fun in the streets!

Review 42:I loved staying here, gorgeous room, great bathroom, very clean, helpful and friendly staff, brilliant location right in the centre of things.

Review 43:Informed by friendly hotel staff to keep toilet cover open so as to press switch from within the toilet bowl to flush toilet... apparently its normal for them =_=".... under bed not swept or cleaned for months.

Review 44:located right smack middle of Jonker street. friendly staff.

Review 45:We had a great stay. The hotel was in excellent location and the room was ready on time, cleaned on time and the staff were friendly and helpful. Would surely visit again if i am in malaka.

Review 46:During the weekends, the location would become a bustling place and there was complimentary "Kara-OK singing" from Jonker street until 1030pm. Bustling place.

Review 47:New hotel with modern design and good location. Complimentary upgrade was offered and comfortable room size.

Review 48:I went with my friends where we did booked the suite which could accommodate 4 adults..the location of the hotel is very convenient as we can just walk by to all places such as jonker street, the famous food shops and etc

Review 49:Had to keep climbing the stairs which was quite tiring. Aircon was not cold.

Review 50:Very clean and comfortable hotel. Gives a homely feel. Big and spacious toilet. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Location was good

Review 51:Nothing

Review 52:Beautiful and good-sized room. Perfect location to explore the town and the weekend street-market. Staff were excellent; friendly and efficient.

Review 53:Very central. In the process of being refurbished. Comfortable and clean with very helpful staff who made good suggestions about where to eat, what to see, where to shop etc. No in room safe in my room so staff put my passport in the office safe. A bit hard to find - don't look for the street address - it's actually at the end of Jonker Street (near the bandstand).

Review 54:I thought that the accommodation was expensive for the room and facilities. I was told that because it was school holidays the rate was higher than the norm - On entering our non-smoking room it smelt of cigarettes; so we were moved up one more flight of stairs to another room - which was considerably nicer in presentation. The stairs are quite steep - There is so much to do in Malacca - it is a wonderful and interesting place to visit which is a positive because staying behind in the Hotel's café; foyer; or, in the hotel room is not, necessarily, a relaxing option. Commuting in Malacca is easy so staying in Jonker Street is not a necessity. I was expecting something special and was disappointed.

Review 55:Location at Jonker Street is convenient. Staff were kind

Review 56:The wifi was pants. Like really pants.

Review 57:The bed was comfortable. The shower was hot (and one of those rainfall types). The staff were very very helpful; they got me a bus ticket to KL and arranged for me to taken to the bus station at the price that I was expecting (I.e. No extortionate tourist mark up). A lot of thought has gone into the design and aesthetic of the hotel.

Review 58:Nothing.

Review 59:Terrific location in the centre of Chinatown right on Jonkers St. Only a 10 min walk to Malacca old centre around the Clock tower. The spacious rooms and very good facilities , plus the friendliness and help from all the staff.

Review 60:I stayed at 10th of Feb, booking.com deducted the payment from my bank account at 7th of Feb, but the receptionist swiped my card and charged the room fees again while I checked in *it was not the room's deposit, it was totally same prices with my room's fee* that meant there was only 1 room per night but I paid for twice!!!! But luckily they returned it to me after 2 weeks. I shown my Malaysian ID while checking in but the receptionist wanted me to show my passport as well, what about if I didn't bring my passport along?

Review 61:The inclusion of breakfast would have been good although there are many cafés nearby

Review 62:Location is excellent for walking around the historic centre. Staff were so friendly and helpful especially the two young ladies on the reception desk.

Review 63:No lift, but a man carried my suites case upto my room, so it was ok.

Review 64:I left my iPhone charger at a hotel where I had stayed before, then a staff helped to make a phone call to get it back, furthermore, a stuff get me new cheap one so that I kept using my phone soon.

Review 65:The rooms had a modern feel and furniture/ finishing. The exterior and lobby still maintained the old world feel. We were pleasantly surprised by the rooms. It had all the prerequisite amenities and very comfortable.

Review 66:I didn't have any bad experience at this hotel. Some people might be concerned about the music generated from the concerts in Jonker's street on the weekends disturbing the peace.

Review 67:The staff was very friendly and proactive in their service. The staff is very service oriented. I wasn't expecting the welcome drink or the complementary travel guide. They took the initiative to carry my luggage to my room while I waited for the check in time, so when 2 pm came, all I needed to do was to pay the bill and take the key card. The room was simple but well kept. The lack of complementary breakfast was not a big loss as Jonkers street is full of traditional food that more than makes up for it. There is a foot massage parlour just next to the hotel. Perfect for a relaxing time after a long day of walking.

Review 68:Rooms are due for a makeover. Our toilet had a permanent dead lizard on the wall (I think it's remains have fossilized)

Review 69:Location is amazing for Jonker fooooooood

Review 70:No bath stopper but we improvised

Review 71:Helpful staff Excellent location made walking to all major sights easy. Comfortable colonial location, super shower and bathroom with bath

Review 72:WIFI speed has to increase during afternoon and at night. realised its pretty slow during both period. more English channels on the television would be better

Review 73:Very clean hotel Excellent service Bed was huge! so my friends and I won't have to squeeze.

Review 74:I think need to paint some parts, as some paint already torn down in the room. Toilet window frame a bit old look..

Review 75:Private parking provided. Its so convenient that we do not need to drive out from the busy and happening Jonker Street. Its just in front of the Jonker Street's stage. Soundproof good too as their singing is loud and luckily our room facing to the car park area and we can check on our car. The car park area will be lock from 1am to 7am, its safer and sleep tight through the night.

Review 76:The mattress is slightly too hard for our liking. The noise from another room's toilet is obvious, especially when the other party is filling up the bathtub.

Review 77:Location is excellent, close to the heart of action i.e night market, good food, peranakan shops

Review 78:Calling it a Boutique Hotel is in MY OPINION using Poetic Licence but it is a clean nice basic hotel in a good location with good Wifi and what we wanted,

Review 79:Location is great been at the end of Jonker street but you are definitely paying for location, its a nice basic hotel with good Wifi in a great location,

Review 80:At end of Jonker Street; hailing teksi can be difficult (but you can always ask reception to call when you're checking out) Beddings too hard and pillows too soft

Review 81:Close proximity to Jonker Street Clean rooms Great people Fuss-free check-in and check-outs Close to kopitiam (coffee shop), cafe and the local confectioneries.

Review 82:It was raining cats and dogs... more like a thunderstorm.. my husband & i were going for a wedding dinner. We understand that cars can't drive in as jonker street is blocked out for the night market during weekend. However, I felt that the staff on duty could have helped a little more by getting us a confirmed taxi instead of telling us to pick up an umbrella and wait at the coffee shop nearby. We waited for a long time and there wasn't any taxi. Thank God for the kind uncle at the coffee shop who got his niece to drive us to the venue for the wedding dinner instead :)

Review 83:Great location as it is right smack on jonker street - easy to get food and it's great to stay here over the weekend :)

Review 84:Walls are thin. I can hear the footsteps every time someone walks across the corridor. Gets a bit creepy at night.

Review 85:The location. It is centrally located. All sights and must-eats are all within walking distance. The malls are around 15 mins of walking.

Review 86:Think everyone mentioned this b4 - the stairs.... no joke - but I guess its an old building. Not really suitable for those with difficulties walking or elderly who dont manage stairs well.

Review 87:Great location! Right where the action is - Jonker Street market (weekends) and close to all the shops where u can shop for snacks, curios and great stuff. U can happily shop then go back to hotel, drop yr stuff n shop again. Comfortable bed and felt welcomed, good reception staff!

Review 88:Convenient walking distance to all attractions, and only five mins walk from bus stop at casa. Pleased we stayed in more authentic historical area. No view or pool but there was plenty to see from the moment you stepped outside the lobby. Rooms nicely decorated and lovely bathroom but walls starting to show signs of wear and noisy aircon but those were small probs really. Price shd have included breakfast but didn't, and I had booked a twin and got a double but they corrected that immediately. Had a great stay in Melaka. Wd recommend this hotel over a concrete high rise definitely.

Review 89:If you are driving, finding this place may be a hassle.

Review 90:A good place to stay if you want to enjoy the Jonger Place especially in the evening. A must place to visit especially over the weekend. Many things to see and to buy.

Review 91:difficult to get supper late night.

Review 92:The room was great. easy access to everywhere provided you have own transport. walking distance to several places.

Review 93:The light of the room is too dark

Review 94:Staff is friendly and polite. Just a few steps to jonker street and about 15 mins walk to dataran Pahlawan shopping mall

Review 95:Would have appreciated a bit more local tourist info at reception. Lots of charm, but not cheap considering no elevator. However, the charm wins out!

Review 96:Vibrant Jonkers Street frontage, blissfully quiet at back of hotel, lovely 'colonial' feel in rooms, beautiful bathrooms and quality toiletries. .

Review 97:It wasn't a long staying in the hotel,. But I descoverd what was amazing in melaka The hotel in a good location to visit all places and the hotel was perfect too,. The smile of the reseption was the good view for me I recommend this hotel so much

Review 98:climbing 4 flights of stairs to the 3 floor - no railings along staircase to hold on to. Not recommended for elderly or those with knee problem.

Review 99:Love the bed and room decor. The bathroom is fantastic - choice of shower, bathtub and rain shower. Easy to control the water temperature and mode. The free wifi access in room and lobby was good.

Review 100:No lifts to rooms on the upper floors. However the comfortable rooms more than compensate for it.

Review 101:Very friendly and helpful staff. Love the room we were in - family room with 2 queen size beds.

Review 102:Wifi connection isn't that strong in the room and location was abit hard to find but once you know where is it it's actually all good..

Review 103:The size of the room, the welcome drink and The Sun newspaper outside our door in the morning !

Review 104:-mattress quite stiff -poor sound proofing -a bit pricey as package not with breakfast, also no other facilities provided, price is for room only

Review 105:-easy access to jonker street -very clean -welcome drink at counter -nice room decoration -big TV -private parking -friendly staff

Review 106:Great location, you can walk anywhere. Large, clean and comfortable rooms. Very friendly and helpful staff. Even though there was a problem with our credit card and they couldn't get pre-authorisation to hold an amount of money so as to secure the reservation, they still kept us the room. Best choice in Melaka!!! Great value for money!

Review 107:The wifi is not so good. It was OK for us only for half of the time we stayed.

Review 108:The location is great, just at the end of Jonker Street. So within walking distance to nearly any POI. The staffs are very friendly. The facilities are adequate.

Review 109:Not soundproof.

Review 110:Clean and spacious room, located at jonker walk, private parking available, thoughtful staffs who quicken the make up of the room to allow us to have the room earlier while seeing us waiting at the hotel lobby.

Review 111:The outdoor KTV can be a nuisance

Review 112:Friendly staff! Cannot ask for a better location! ---Lots of great local and western restaurants, pubs and bars within walking distance ---Night market right at the door step! ---Historical sites less than a mile away!

Review 113:Not being able to have breakfast.... Many coffee shoos and restaurants do not open until 11 or 12, Jonker Boutique hotel should at least have a breakfast facility .

Review 114:Very friendly staff... Large and comfortable room.... Do book a deluxe or superior room.. I did see some smaller rooms. The deluxe and superior ones are large.... have A ceiling fans and air con , both very welcome in the very hit months. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The wifi is slow and fell out at times however, it us available and it is free. Hotel rather unappealing from outside, don't be put off though, it is pleasant once you go into foyer. Pity no restaurant or coffee shop as breakfast difficult to find, there is a coffee shop next door however, not a great choice of food.

Review 115:The air con was a little noisy so being a light sleeper, I didn't sleep that well. Was meant to be a non smoking room but could smell smoke from the room - either from previous guest smoking in the bathroom or other guests smoking in their room and the smell travelling to our room.

Review 116:Great location, retro fit out. Everything is within walking distance. Even though it's near the Jonker Walk stage, you can't hear the karaoke singing from our room. Staff was friendly and helpful too!

Review 117:no lift.

Review 118:everything.

Review 119:Great location + Friendly staffs + Cozy room. Definitely will come back again.

Review 120:Good position, easy to reach places of interested. In Sunday evening its a bit noisy, but would not last late.

Review 121:Climbing up the stairs

Review 122:The warm friendly staff

Review 123:The bed is too hard

Review 124:Super good location

Review 125:The staff were friendly and helpful. The room layout was unusual but nice and quaint.

Review 126:Very friendly

Review 127:Wifi too weak

Review 128:The bath tub in the bathroom, near to jonker street, convenience

Review 129:Brilliant location, comfortable and very accommodating staff.

Review 130:Auto upgrade my room, not bad.

Review 131:No negatives!

Review 132:Great location, fantastic and very helpful staff! Charming place. The shower was so good!
