Reviews for Oreti Village Resort

Review 1:It was a little pricey but well worth it.

Review 2:The view was spectacular, the room was spacious and comfortable, the kitchen has everything we needed and we loved the full sized fridge and dining table.

Review 3:Our main courses were a bit disappointing and lacked any wow factor. However, the waiter was lovely and the timing in the kitchen was perfect.

Review 4:I am a photographer so the views out over the lake were stunning. I thought the space was very generous. Loved the bush and deck overlooking the lake. Didn't get a chance to have a good look around as we arrived late in the day, but will go back again.

Review 5:No one could have a bad experience here.

Review 6:The views are second to none. We loved the accommodation so much, we decided a single night was not enough and returned for a further two nights. We stayed here for my 50th birthday and was I delighted to be there. All of the staff are outstanding. FABULOUS

Review 7:The view from the resort was stunning had everything that we needed it at the place plust it was so warm and it was spacious really made the trip worthwhile

Review 8:Fantastic place to stay. The breakfast basket was enough for two mornings so was very cheap. Lovely facilities and staff. The restaurant is nice with lovely food. Would love to go back again.

Review 9:Staff at the restaurant seems quite inexperienced; also not attentive enough

Review 10:The resort house is very clean and has everything you need. There is also a big balcony with a beautiful view overlooking the lake.

Review 11:Amazing staff, great food, lovely location. Spacious rooms, perfect for family. Would highly recommend this place for families. Warm accommodation.

Review 12:No free wifi was the only bad bit

Review 13:The room and view was stunning!! And was so comfortable, everything was amazing! Would recommend this accommodation to everyone!!

Review 14:It's about a 20 minute drive from shops etc and about a 40 minute drive from walking trails in Tongariro National Park. Not necessarily a bad thing but I'm not a confident driver on hills in the dark! Also, a bath tub would have been the icing on the cake!

Review 15:Amazing views from the balcony!!! Lovely set up of the unit with small kitchenette area with stove, fridge and dishwasher. Bedrooms were spacious and bed were almost too comfortable! Dinner at the on-site restaurant was delicious (remember to make a booking!).

Review 16:No hot water during evening, however hot showers available in the morning

Review 17:Awesome service and location - really enjoyed the peace and tranquillity. Beautiful meal, welcoming reception

Review 18:The restaurant was closed; and not available for breakfast which I was unaware of; as I had specifically looked for a place with restaurant. I was offered bacon and eggs to cook for myself; and advised I could visit a restaurant about a 10 minute drive away (which was beautiful and well worth it) for dinner; which was not ideal as it was a cold wet night. If i had been advised beforehand, I could have bought our own groceries which I would have preferred.

Review 19:Beautiful environment and setting. Really gorgeous.

Review 20:wifi was not good, plus we had to pay extra to use it - dropped out all the time. Room for improvement. You can have a holiday without wifi of course but if you are expecting it and trying to keep on top of work while you are away and its not reliable, then not good

Review 21:room size, comfy living space, lovely deck though weather was a bit cold to use, views over lake, handy to Whakapapa skiing

Review 22:Half of the 8 channels on the TV did not work, the internet only lasted 4 days and was slower than my 3G phone. No cleaning of apartments is included at all, there is a $25 cost for this each time it is done. You will be asked to empty the rubbish bins before we left, this left us dumfounded.

Review 23:Had a nice view.

Review 24:The pillows in the unit left everyone with sore necks and head aches as they were uncomfortable and not enough of. Also with the setting a fire place would have made it extremely amazing.

Review 25:We loved he view and the facility the unit was a good size and we had everything we needed. The venue for dinner was stunning and the food was amazing

Review 26:Room had someone else's belongings in it. Rain was deafening on the tin roof. Location was further from Taupo than we imagined due to coastal roads.

Review 27:Views were magnificent Evening meal was excellent with very friendly waiter

Review 28:A dinner bill was added on my room when I checked out,but none of us had dinner in the hotel. It didnt take much time,of course happy ending I dont need to pay for the dinner for sb I dont even know.

Review 29:Great view,comfortable room。

Review 30:Wifi is pretty rubbish, but who cares when the views are like they are!

Review 31:Views are stunning; The little bay below the resort is delightful (steep climb down) Exceedingly peaceful.

Review 32:A bit far from some of the activities we wanted to do in Taupo,Rotorua, and Waitomo Caves.

Review 33:Setting with nature, all types of birds singing and very active around our accomodation. Very quiet, away from people and traffic noises.

Review 34:We were really excited to spending a weekend at Oreti Village Resort so were quite perturbed when we were directed to the restaurant by a sign when we arrived to check in on arrive at 8pm. The attitude of the staff was less than casual, in fact we felt as if we were being a nuisance asking to check in. This feeling was exacerbated when we were asked to come to the restaurant to eat shortly as they wanted to close the restaurant. We were shocked at being charged to have the room service and resented being charged for wifi when the price of the accommodation was above average.

Review 35:We really loved the environment, pristine landscape and cute little pheasants running around cooing. Good restaurant and quality food and the apartment was spacious and well appointed although the disabled bathroom was unexpected.

Review 36:No DVD player No covered patio when it rains Small bed (queen is the max)

Review 37:The location The large space Quiet but probably only on week days, they hold weddings and parties on week ends, caution

Review 38:1. It is half an hour's drive to Taupo. 2. The facade of the apartment was not well maintained, giving it a very tired look. 3. You have to go down a flight of steps into the apartment. Not convenient if you have lots of luggage.

Review 39:The apartment has an excellent view of Lake Taupo

Review 40:Absolutely amazing views over the lake from the apartment, spacious and comfortable, everything we needed. Good food at restaurant on site with stunning lakeview as well. Away from trafficnoise and buzz, ideal if you're looking for a quiet place to stay.

Review 41:I didn't talk to the staff about wifi but saw in the guest folder that you had to pay. I think that free wifi should be standard, particularly at this end of the accommodation price spectrum. A very minor whinge though as everything else was excellent.

Review 42:What a fabulous setting. This, along with the excellent staff and a very good meal at the restaurant, will mean I will come back to this establishment again.

Review 43:Nothing.

Review 44:Staff were very helpful and friendly. Excellent facilities and beautiful views. Restaurant had excellent food and would recommend Oreti Village Resort to everyone who wants to get away from the hustle of urban life.

Review 45:No heating, due to the bank holiday, the restaurant was closed and there was no dinner or breakfast facilities, this meant a 15km each way trip to the nearest town for meals. The smoke alarm activated at 10-30pm for no apparent reason. On phoning the reception, no one replied and it was necessary to remove the detector and remove the battery. The cost of staying was overpriced for what was on offer at the "resort" the door lock was faulty and we had to leave our possessions unsecured when we went out to eat

Review 46:The view when it stopped raining

Review 47:The location was a bit further away than we thought from our activities, a little more planning was needed - but sooo nice to back to at the end of the day.

Review 48:The view was spectacular and made everything so peaceful. The surrounding bush was lovely. Great food at the restaurant. The unit was well equipped with everything and was spacious.

Review 49:Having a morning coffee on the balcony overlooking Lake Taupo was wonderful. After a tiring day the day before it was so refreshing to listen to the tuis in the morning. The living room and kitchen area were large and comfortable. I have already recommended the place to my relatives.

Review 50:Shame the indoor pool was cold. Would have been perfect if there was somewhere to have a hot soak. Need to invest in some new tennis rackets.

Review 51:The location right on the edge of Lake Taupo was stunning. We were lucky enough to have great weather and sunsets and sunrises were beautiful. Apartment was older but still stylish and really well maintained.

Review 52:Swimming pool not heated though indoor - unable to use - should be mad e clear that pool seasonal Playground - one metal swing - disappointed children Tennis court - poor equipment to borrow

Review 53:Amazing views Restaurant - excellent food and lovely ambience

Review 54:We had the top floor of one of the loft apartments. Heat pump was on when we arrived, view over the lake to Taupo's lights was great. Such a tranquil spot to just relax and listen to the Tui's.

Review 55:Starting to look a little dated and single beds could be more comfortable. Felt hurried at Restaurant for Saturday night dinner - only three tables including us and really felt by 9.30 pm they wanted us to leave. We only arrived at 7.30 pm!

Review 56:Beautiful view and setting. Nice apartment. Everything you need.

Review 57:The view from the apartment (Unit 20A) was fantastic. Asked for a candle on my dessert when I dined at the Restaurant to celebrate my birthday, it was done and on top of that, the 2 waitresses came and sang a birthday song for me.:)

Review 58:Was looking forward to the restaurant but was closed for two weeks and had to buy shopping at turungi too cook our food.

Review 59:The apartments are a great size for a family

Review 60:the whole atmosphare

Review 61:Lovely apartment, good location, wonderful views. Very spacious and very well equipped.

Review 62:Just love everything of this place, the view is fabulous! We do regret we only book for one night!

Review 63:Some of the equipment and kitchenware was a bit tired

Review 64:Fantastic location overlooking the lake with beautiful grounds.

Review 65:The setting and helpful staff.

Review 66:Amazing view. Excellent accommodation. Great restaurant with delicious food. Owners made every effort to give us an enjoyable weekend.

Review 67:Televisions are rubbish.

Review 68:Location was excellent and having a restaurant on site a big plus. Amazing views and quiet.

Review 69:Fabulous location. Peaceful, lovely views. Restaurant and bar onsite. Very comfortable accommodation.

Review 70:No smoke alarms, no extra rubbish bags

Review 71:Felt just like home in a wonderful location

Review 72:Beautiful view and surroundings Amazing food at the restaurant

Review 73:the room type and view are best.

Review 74:view over lake was stunning. In August, the electric blankets were awesome! Restaurant was fantastic Cozy.

Review 75:Beautiful view from balcony, very tranquil environment. All the luxury needed being away from home.

Review 76:Lights are not bright enough.

Review 77:Steps

Review 78:atmoshere

Review 79:Simply amazing. Would definitely stay there again, in fact, I am already planning my next visit :)

Review 80:Nothing

Review 81:Brilliant restaurant and facilities

Review 82:Beautiful view on the lake, extremely quiet, the restaurant and its exceptional red meat!!

Review 83:fittings etc. beginning to look a little tired

Review 84:Wonderful view, superbly equipped, very spacious, excellent value

Review 85:Everything about this place was great. Only wish we stayed longer.

Review 86:The view from the living room over the lake was lovely. The restaurant food was very tasty and the service was excellent.

Review 87:nothing

Review 88:apartment & view, peacefulness, kitchen with everything in it

Review 89:No free wifi

Review 90:Good location, quiet place

Review 91:Broken utilities in kitchen.

Review 92:The nature and friendly reception.

Review 93:outlook and setting high standard of facilities

Review 94:The receptionist was not nice and not welcoming.

Review 95:Nice view

Review 96:Restaurant a bit pricey and not open for lunch

Review 97:Breakfast on the sunny deck balcony with a view over the lake

Review 98:Quite a distance away from other places of interest

Review 99:The view of the lake was beautiful

Review 100:I choose Oreti over its competitors because of the onsite restaurant. When I arrived, I was told that the restaurant would not be open for dinner because of a wedding. There was also no breakfast option or anything more than the stale Nescafe in the apartment, so it was a 15-20 min drive just to have a coffee in the morning. Disappointing.

Review 101:The balcony overlooking the lake was very nice and the apartment was roomy.

Review 102:A little remote, you have to drive 10 min to the next shops, restaurants etc - but the setting is so lovely it's worth it

Review 103:Great location, directly on Lake Taupo, if you like it quiet

Review 104:It is a bit far from Taupo, nearly one hour drive or maybe more.

Review 105:Right on the lakeside, the view was astonishing from the balcony, we enjoyed sunrise there every day. The whole resort was pretty and quiet. Villas were far enough from each other, giving excellent privacy.

Review 106:The accommodation was excellent in every way and the views were amazing. There was everything you could wish for including a full kitchen, spacious eating area, laundry and ironing board etc. We would recommend Oreti Village Resort anytime and we will be back.

Review 107:Restaurant food was disappointing / average.

Review 108:Fantastic view over Lake Taupo and good place to overnight if travellingbetween Auckland & Wellington.

Review 109:Small problem with the shower drainage which we alerted staff to.

Review 110:Unsurpassed location/view of lake Taupo. Provision of free laundry service Restaurant and Bar facilities, service and quality.

Review 111:Facilities are basic and not luxury as advertised. Owners need to research what luxury today means. Look at something similar like o Reilly's mountain retreat, qld Australia.

Review 112:Amazing location,

Review 113:It was a bit charmless. The decor was very bland and this created a dour atmosphere. It was pricey. Not good value for money at $ 220 a night. It was virtually empty and off season. We expected better.

Review 114:Had good facilities with kitchen and laundry was spacious and a had a great view.

Review 115:The check in time was 2pm, but when we arrived was told may have to wait for another hour. This was due to cleaners not Available. Very disappointing. No discount was offered for late check in due to place not ready.

Review 116:Quiet place Staff quite friendly

Review 117:Loved the panoramic view over the Lake and the native birds in the bush surrounding the resort. Had a very memorable gourmet evening meal at the resort's restaurant. A very relaxing stay - we had to prize ourselves off the balcony to leave. Worth driving from Wellington for.

Review 118:The territoty of Oreti looks a bit abandoned. The walking path to thelake seems to be neglected for a long time ago. Not sure who owns thispart of the ground, but I guess that Oreti could invest some money toclean it up a bit and repair the stairs on the lakeshore. Also an old-fashioned crt-tv units in the appartments look a bit odd in comparisonwith the overall level of equipment.

Review 119:The appartments at Oreti are among the best we have tried during our 3weeks travel across nz. The facilities include everything you couldimagine like washing machine, dryer, etc. The views from the appartmentsover Taupo lake are fabulous Very close to Tongariro national park.

Review 120:decor aged and needed attention restaurant is misleading as adverts etc say open 630 till late but we discovered when we rang to say we would be late that there were no orders after 0800. because we rang we were able to stop in Taupo but were even later, if we hadnt rung we would have relied on 'open till late'

Review 121:quiet spacious staff very helpful and accomodating

Review 122:internet access is only via the one the on offer at the resort they provide 1/2 hour free after that its a tad expensive but really I guess one should be doing other things.

Review 123:stunning views , beautiful unit , plenty of room, made one feel like you were in a world of your own but with all the things you needs around you, a lucky find ended up staying three days it was just so nice didn't want to leave. lots of lovely places to visit in the area.

Review 124:Need to think more of guest by heating pool year round, need to upgrade swings/trampoline, put some nice large pot plants around tennis court/pool area & spend some money to up date outdoor tables/chairs before summer beside the tennis courts - go to rebel sport up date tennis rackets for summer holiday makers - some simple touches could make it a really special spot. Great service, bar, location, menu & restaurant facilities.

Review 125:Loved the whole feel, tennis courts, relaxed lovely location & views, lovely rooms and staff.

The Fine Print
