Review 1：The layout of the hotel is odd. Super convenient and closest place to the Okuyashiroizutama Shrine. The room walls are very thin and was kept awake by young kids drinking and laughing next door till 2am.
Review 2：The food wasn't that great. The building was smelly (frying smells in the diningroom and cigarette smoke in the staircase). The room was cramped. I couldn't even close the door of the toilet in my room. My knees wouldn't allow it. The futon was uncomfortable. There is nothing much else to do than visit the Shrine. It was too expensive for the service.

Review 5：Very friendly and helpful staff. The ryokan has a foot bath and onsen on site which was lovely after a day of hiking. Large comfortable room with everything you need. It's right at the end of the Main Street to the stairs for the temple and an easy 10 min walk from the station. Fridge is also in the room. Recommended!

Review 9：A super good experience with Tsuruya Ryokan... perfect location and unbeatable value for money for the half board option! Thanks to the magic spring, my legs are still good after climbing 2736 stairs up and down (to the Shrine). Love Kotohira and miss Tsuruya Ryokan!
