Reviews for Parador Margarita
Review 1:Nothing, it was all truly perfect.
Review 2:Location, location, location. Very close to the center of everything! The room was clean and very comfortable. The staff needs an honorable mention to say the least. We were going on a very early morning tour and were going to miss the breakfast, so the staff packed us a lunch with two bottles of water in place of our breakfast. When we woke up at 5AM, the lunches were ready and were very delicious. They truly made our stay very pleasurable. We will stay here again when we return in the future to San Cristóbal.
Review 3:The location is great. The staff was very friendly. Breakfast was good. overall we highly recommend this hotel if you plan to stay in San Cristobal!
Review 4:Wished there was a kettle in the room for making tea or coffee to stave off the mountain chill.
Review 5:Beautiful rooms. Peaceful location. Stunning views. Amazing shower.
Review 6:The protests on the street, this has nothing to do with the hotel....I just wanted to get it off my chest.
Review 7:I liked the staff most of all but the location was my favorite. After eating tons of yummy food all day, walking a couple of blocks to the hotel everyday made it perfect.
Review 8:Nothing
Review 9:Everything was perfect! The room is clean, spacious and nice. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was included and freshly made (you could choose fresh made eggs or quesadillas and got fresh fruits with bread & jam & coffee). We were leaving very early in the morning and even had a breakfast doggy bag included. The courtyard is very nice and you can sit there and have a snack & beer if you like. We also booked our tours from the hotel directly and enjoyed them.
Review 10:Front desk service excellent. Helpful, kind, extending themselves with patience (there was a political strike, unannounced, that day which blocked passage off the mtn on all 3 roads to airport.hotel worked w us tirelessly so we could make our flight home.
Review 11:Breakfast on the second day was poor service we asked for hot water several times and were ignored to be fare it was busy but we felt ignored. On the first day when it was very quiet as we were late in breakfast service was excellent. I would recommend but go to breakfast after the big rush!!!!!
Review 12:Location was 5 minutes from town beautiful setting. Room was very clean and comfortable. Reception staff very helpful
Review 13:Breakfast could be better. Staff were lovely but quite a small choice of what to have.
Review 14:Lovely place to stay in San Cristobel with a nice garden. Close enough to the main square and easy walking distance to all the sights. Friendly staff.
Review 15:Everything was excellent, the staff we're very helpful and nice. The room was big and comfortable. We really enjoyed this hotel and recommen it.
Review 16:I missed some carpets on the floor. That was pretty cold.
Review 17:Great beds, very quiet, easy walk to the centre, spacious room, nice staff, view from upstairs, good wifi reception in the room, warm water
Review 18:Cons A 15 minute walk to the Central Square so you need to take a taxi wherever you go…30 pesos each way. And you can’t just pop back to your hotel if you forgot something. Restaurant is only open for breakfast so you have to go out to eat for lunch and dinner. But that wasn’t a problem though it might have been in the rainy season
Review 19:Pros A well kept and well decorated 2 story property with a Spanish Colonial feel. On a quiet street A beautiful Open courtyard where you can relax, read, or work at patio tables. Electrical outlets everywhere so you can plug in your laptop. No need to hang out in your room. Good speedy internet in rooms and in courtyard. Limited neighborhood shopping and a few restaurants around the corner if you need cheese, fruits or snacks. A small bar near the lobby that opens in the afternoon till 10:30 pm where you can hang out and meet friends. Laundry nearby if you need to have your clothes washed. Breakfast was 50 pesos per person (or included depending on your booking) with a nice patio or inside restaurant on the 2nd floor.
Review 20:Beautiful hotel, great staff! I enjoyed a lot. They have many tours to ofer , the central places are just 5 minutes walking. And the breakfast is delicious!!
Review 21:You can't open your window at night without being fully exposed to the corridors.
Review 22:Great location, nice atmosphere and surrounding with well kept garden. Free inside parking.
Review 23:A large courtyard setting with rooms and facilities on three sides of the green area. Felt welcomed and well looked after. Great location, easy walking to restaurants, bars, tour operators and the town centre. We read previous reviews and asked for an upstairs room and it was perfect for us.
Review 24:The hotel is located 3 blocks from the main square, which is about a 5 min walk. It has a wonderful garden to relax a bit after walking around in San Cristobal for a full day. It's also quiet as there is no restaurants or clubs right by it, which we found good as it helped us to relax. There is a restaurant where a breakfast is offered, but the only thing we ever tried was the orange juice, that was excellent, the rest looked good but we never had time in the morning as we usually left at 6am for tour.
Review 25:Beds!! Mattress was very stiff and we didn't rest as we want it after Walking all day. Maybe adding a mattress pad will help ;)
Review 26:Really nice little hotel, love the courtyard area and garage parking is BIG plus since there's not a lot of parking around and your car is secure. Relaxing views fron the second floor bedrooms, you walk a good 4 to 5 blocks to get to main tourist attractions wich is close enough to be where everything happens and far enough to be away from the noise.
Review 27:Bar closing at 10pm. Breakfast is not that good. Staff not very helpful and welcoming. Dark room smelling of painting.
Review 28:Value for money. Close to the centre. Nice courtyard.
Review 29:most of the staff cannot speak English . Not a huge problem but at times in that quality hotel I think some knowledge would be good .
Review 30:The overall design , large room size , fantastic bed and furnished well . A well run hotel ! Good losction .
Review 31:No heating or cooling in rooms (although we did wonder if there was underfloor heating in bathroom & wardrobe area) so don't know what it would be like if it was really cold. Had to close bathroom door to keep room warm.
Review 32:Hotel staff were very friendly, especially night staff when we arrived at midnight. Big rooms with lovely timber doors & furniture. 2 blocks to pedestrian mall & resturants. Laundry in same block.
Review 33:All. Good.
Review 34:A great location with everything we needed including a laundry just up the road. The staff were great and a fellow spoke English which we have found rare so far on our trip. Great shower.
Review 35:The only thing we would recommend would be to start a fire in the lounge on cool days. The lounge looked very inviting, but it was cool and the bartender was wearing a coat - not very inviting. Otherwise a very pleasant stay.
Review 36:Hotel Parador Margarita is a charming oasis in the middle of this very busy city. From the lovely garden as you enter the hotel, to the open courtyard with fountain, stout stone stairways, charming rooms with unique stained glass windows in each. The breakfast room had beautiful light in the morning and the ground floor bar glowed red at night. It was cool during our visit and they provided us with a portable heater that was adequate to heat the room a bit. Breakfast was very good and the girls at breakfast were very nice. Great views from the upper floor.
Review 37:The bar was not open every evening.
Review 38:The rooms are spacious and clean, the beds are comfortable. Breakfast is decent, à la carte and maybe not enough food for some, but just fine in our opinion.
Review 39:Be careful which room you choose. The upstairs rooms are lighter and nicer.
Review 40:The parador is a quiet, clean and comfortable place to stay, only a short wall from the centre of San Cristobal. The staff were friendly and helpful, our room was large and had everything we needed. The bar was very useful for a cup of tea or cold beer after a long day out and the view of the mountains was beautiful. Excellent breakfast included and excellent link with local tour company to arrange sightseeing trips.
Review 41:Rooms were large, staff was efficient and the place is absolutely lovely. It's about a 4-block walk to the Zocalo, or main plaza, which was a bit farther than expected.
Review 42:We really loved the staff, we speak no Spanish and they help us with all our needs. The room was large and very comfortable. We used the garden courtyard to read and drink wine after exploring the city. We like that it wasn't on a busy street but close to everything. We enjoy our stay very much. Review 43:Sewage gas problem second day in could not be fixed during our stay. At the same time we lost hot water. Staff worked on both issues, but unresolved. We were allowed shower access last day in a different room.
Review 44:We had a lovely room with a great view. Staff was conscientious and friendly and room was spotless. Breakfast very good.
Review 45:The hotel is a bit overpriced. Nothing to complain about it but, objectively, it does not offer anything astonishing.
Review 46:- The place was just what we were looking for: a clean, quiet, comfortable, (pretty) and very central accommodation. The bedrooms have everything we needed. - We were very impressed by the kindness of a young guy who helped us park the car in the garage. - The small café/bar is very nice and has good prices (compared to some central restaurants)
Review 47:nothing stood out as irritating
Review 48:Location, very close to the centre of town. Breakfast was very good Very quiet. Rooms very comfortable, Alejandro behind the desk, very helpful.
Review 49:Spotty WiFi in room. Some reviewers complained about cold rooms, but space heaters are readily available from front desk staff. Just ask.
Review 50:Nice building with beautiful courtyard. Good breakfast. Spacious rooms. Good location 5 mins walking to center. Friendly staff.
Review 51:Not much to dislike here.
Review 52:Staff was very accommodating. Was a bonus that one of the staff spoke fluent English and was very helpful. The hotel was located just a few blocks from the main hub, therefore able to walk wherever we wanted to go. Was cool during our stay therefore thankful a heater was provided.
Review 53:I liked that the hotel has a little inside garden. It's quit, the rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. It just has everything you need. We arrived in this hotel early, around 7 am, because we took the nightbus from Huatulco. The normal check-in time was 12 am but thankfully, they let us in earlier.
Review 54:There was WIFI only near the office. Our king bed had a hard mattress. I suggest they place a fluffy mattress cover to make the bed a bit softer.
Review 55:The hotel was comfortable and cozy with a nice view especially at night. It was walking distance to the center of town, maybe 4 blocks.
Review 56:it gets very cold at night (which is not the hotels fault). but between the door and the wall there was a 2 cm gap. The beds are a bit hard, not too confy.
Review 57:This hotel is just "wow". Incredible green courtyard. Tasty breakfasts that can be taken on the sunny terrace. Big clean rooms. It is located in a nice, quiet road, a 1 minute walk away from the pedestrian street.
Review 58:A bit cold in the nightl There are cheaper options but this place gives good value for money
Review 59:The rooms are very clean The bed is huge and comfortable Good room facilities
Review 60:The hotel was great. Very much like a boutiqe hotel. The staff was realy nice especially the night guy who was the only man in all san cristobal that knows english
Review 61:Wifi reception in the rooms was low.
Review 62:The hotel is stylish, comfortable has a nice garden and patio. It is located in the historic center which but not on the main street so it is close to everything but still quite. The rooms were spacious clean and beautiful and the room had a safe which is always important when traveling. The staff was very helpful and some of them knew english which was a nice change as a lot of places dont. There was also free parking garage.
Review 63:Excellent staff who were very helpful in making our stay the best possible. Clean well appointed rooms, comfortable bed, hot shower. Nice full breakfast included in our rate. Only a few blocks to the main square yet very quiet with a beautiful courtyard to relax. Laundry close by.

Review 73:Buen servicio, delicious breakfast included. Beautiful gardens and centrally located. We would use it again!
Review 74:Little problem with wood smell.
Review 75:Verry good hotel. The staff really do theor best. Beautiful garden. We used it a lot . Recomendef hotel. .

Review 100:It was a very relaxing environment in a beautiful old building.
Review 101:no a/c...a little bit cold :-(
Review 102:Staff Shower Decor Location Value Breakfast
Review 103:Lovely hotel, hacienda style, in a beautiful setting. Close, easy walk to everything. Breakfast was made to order. Gated, secure garage.
Review 104:The reception wasn't friendly!
Review 105:The courtyard and back lawn, the breakfast was good, the rooms were comfortable!
Review 106:the wi-fi didn't work so good, the stuff (except one) didn't know English.
Review 107:amazing hotel, great location. great service. very clean room and bathroom.
Review 108:No really a dislike but something to be aware of. Our room was downstairs and so shaded from the sun all day. As the rooms are not heated and are designed to keep you cool there was no way to dry anything. The upstairs rooms looked as if they got some sun and the balconies could be used to dry things. The windows downstairs opened in a way that meant they could not be locked open just a little. If they were open at all the room could be entered through the window. We like a bit of air circulation at night so we left the door on latch instead. Sounds a bit insecure or unprivate but actually worked very well and was very secure. It was relatively warm in San Cristobal when we were there and we were very comfortable in our room but if it had been cold the bathroom would have been cold.
Review 109:Central location but very quiet and peaceful inside. Rooms are round a beautiful courtyard. Very secure. Nice views from the upstairs balcony. An easy safe walk to the pedestrianised centre of San Cristobal were all the night life and shops/restaurants etc are. Parking for cars on site and 100 yards away (secure) if on-site full. Large comfortable rooms. Nice breakfast room with outdoor section and good breakfast. With Spanish you can negotiate some flexibility over breakfast choice - eg nice fruit platter with yoghurt instead of hot dish. Reception staff spoke some English and everyone was very obliging. The day we left (17 April) they opened a small bar. Looked like this would be a very nice addition to the facilities. Wifi worked well in the courtyard (not the rooms we had). If you are hiring a car make sure you have a detailed map of the area. The roads in San Cristobal are very narrow and on a one way system. When you get to the hotel one of you has to get out to alert reception and get the parking door opened. Expect to go round the block while this happens as the street is quite busy. (I guess you could phone ahead if your mobile works.) Google maps are good and Google street view shows the hotel.
Review 110:Stayed 6 nights and happy we chose to stay here. Great staff, service, and location. Comfortable, and clean rooms surround garden patios. Very quiet. We are vegan and the breakfast staff prepared delicious vegetables for us every morning, and they remembered our preferences too! Highly recommended and we will return whenever in San Cristobal.
Review 111:... but our personal stay (3 nights) was not so enjoying: although we booked this hotel 4 months in advance, we were assigned to the lowest qualtiy room, with practically no natural light coming through the window, and no wifi connection at all. As we complained we were harshly reminded, that there is not other room available. From the staff's remarks we concluded as we booked via booking.com we were not entitled to a better room - but on the homepage there was no distinction between cheaper or better rooms visible. Hence our marking is beelow average!
Review 112:Generally speaking this hotel is a good one: cntral location, quiet, clean, very nice patio, rooms roomy, albeit only moderately equipped - as all rooms seem to be of similar size and furniture, the hotel deserves a good mark ...
Review 113:Some of the nice furniture was awkwardly placed in our room.
Review 114:Very lovely rooms opened to a courtyard or garden. Cedar closets and 24/7 hot water in large bathrooms added to the pleasure of our stay. We had a beautiful stained glass window in our room. Definitely a great value for the money!
Review 115:Room was a bit dark, but it was no problem for us
Review 116:Breakfast on the beautiful terrace Staff was really friendly, welcoming, patient and helpful Beautiful patio Very quiet location
