Review 8：Beautiful hotel with a great view. We had one of the "villa" rooms, meaning that we had one whole floor of a free standing building to ourselves. Very spacious, and since we chose the 2nd floor we also had a very high roof giving the room lots of charm. Breakfast and dinner was included in the price so we had our doubt's about it, especially when they tried to upsell us from the Japanese restaurant to the reservations only French one. Having traveled half around the world from Europe it felt silly to pay extra for a European restaurant so we chose the Japanese one. It turned out to be absolutely excellent! The style drew inspiration from western fine dining with some molecular gastronomy twists such a foams and whatnot, but with definitely Japanese flavors and fresh local ingredients. A few choices on the menu, such as the foie gras, and the drinks entailed a small extra cost, but with food this good included, the price suddenly did not seem so high at all. One thing that must also be stressed is how accommodating the staff was. They were very friendly and helpful and took initiative to get us in contact with an English speaking guide. This turned out great, we certainly would not have had such a great trek through the extraordinary forests of Yakushima without him. On the whole one of the best experiences we have ever had.
