Reviews for Hotel Fundador

Review 1:nothing really

Review 2:Just a few minutes walk from train station in a pleasant location. Short walk from city and bus station. Marvellous view from breakfast room. Reception staff so helpful

Review 3:We did not get our invoice in the evening when we paid the room and the next day the new receptionist forgot to give it to us and we forgot to ask about it.

Review 4:They gave us a room on the ninth floor which was spacious and quiet. The breakfast was decent but there were no fresh veggies and only two hard boiled eggs(we did get to them first, luckily). There was plenty of room in the garage for the car.

Review 5:The spectacular view from the Breakfast room on the 11th floor which takes in the whole of Guimararies. It was within walking distance of the old town, castle and palace.

Review 6:Elevator access was very slow, maybe due to the other elevator malfunction

Review 7:Location Big room Views Breakfast Bathroom Free indoor parking Free wifi

Review 8:the staff are always busy and can be more friendly, wifi will expire automatically after 16 hours then you have to get new password and so on- very annoying. the hotel is overall clean but somehow my room floor is not that clean as my kids' white sucks got black in 5 minutes.

Review 9:the breakfast, big room, modern facilities, next to train station, comfortable room.

Review 10:The hotel is moderate for Guimaraes, but was the same or higher than much nicer places where I stayed in Lisbon and the Alentejo. It's a bit shabby, but it is clean.

Review 11:The hotel is centrally located. Nice view from the room.

Review 12:Room fixtures and fittings a bit out of date and 'tired' Shower warm and powerful but poured a fine mist rather than a shower

Review 13:Good sized room. Very reasonable price. Great view from top floor restaurant. Plentiful free underground parking

Review 14:The décor in the hotel is very drab and dull. The breakfast, while adequate, was very mediocre.

Review 15:The hotel is within easy walking distance to the charming historical old town. Our arrival was greeted by a very helpful receptionist and we were given a large room.

Review 16:The showers are substandard. Unless you like to stand in a bathtub with a low pressure leaking shower head spraying you and the rest of the bathroom.

Review 17:Good size rooms. Free WiFi. Secured parking. I excellent dining at the restaurant across the road!

Review 18:A touch of wrong timing, the place had just been repainted with what must have been industrial paint.the smell of which was a bit overpowering.

Review 19:Easy to find, secure parking, price pleasant enough place.

Review 20:Parking was tight--small parking garage below hotel--thought it was functional. Hotel has good road access, but is several Km from the old town.

Review 21:Clean quiet rooms, good view.

Review 22:comfortable, spacious room, nice view from both room and breakfast room closeness/walking distance to charming old city centre excellent little restaurant on it's doorstep: Cantinho do Paula

Review 23:the windows were quite old so in cold weather there is some draft.

Review 24:location is great. from the top you have a view, and from the bar you have a round panoramic view. breakfast was not bad. room was quite spacious. staff very friendly.

Review 25:The braggadocio in the big black Audi who thought that parking his car across the entry to the basement lift was his god given right.

Review 26:Great views over the town, very professional helpful staff, secure basement car parking. Although the hotel is a decent walk from the town centre, the walk does take you through some interesting areas that epitomise urban decay in Portugal. Some would call this confronting or seedy but we found it very educational and it gave us the full picture rather than the rosy glow of the tourist veneer. Other than that, the hotel represented good value and was a comfortable place to rest our worn out feet.

Review 27:The location of the hotel, thervices provided and the readiness of the staff always to help, to give explanation how to find some place, what is interesting to be visited. I am very grateful to the staff for their perfect attitude to the visitors of the hotel. I shall be very happy if I have possibility to visit again the beautiful town Guimaraes and to stay in Hotel Fundador.

Review 28:Very stuffy, smelly hotel, maybe due to air conditioning. Around the air conditioning vent the wall and ceiling were stained black. Dirty toilet brush and large rip in linoleum on bathroomfloor.

Review 29:Quiet Average breakfast Nice views Close to train station

Review 30:- Very well localized: 3 minutes on foot from the rail station and less than 10 minutes on foot from the historic center; - The breakfast is good and is served at the highest floor of the building, with a fantastic view of the city; -Friendly and helpful staff. Thumbs up!

Review 31:Very basic cleanliness, the bathtub was quite rusty. The bed and the pillow were not comfortable. In the lower floors, both the corridors and the rooms, there is some smell of smoking. That is not the case for the upper floors. Quite noisy because of proximity to train station and to main road.

Review 32:Very nice view from the restaurant on the last floor, quite convenient location close to the train station.

Review 33:very little facilities

Review 34:Good location, clean and comfort room

Review 35:wonderful view and excellent breakfasts

Review 64:None

Review 65:Location is very good

Review 66:Excellent location, very good food, not expensive, very large and comfortable room and kind staffs

Review 67:No bar or lounge area. No pool. Very utilitarian. Horrible grey bathroom.

Review 68:Location near station and conférence centre.

Review 69:Staff

Review 70:Thoroughly enjoyed our time there!

Review 71:Curtains let light in, in the morning, even when fully drawn.

Review 72:Even at the end of April, it was very cold ( 12°C ) and rainy outside. Unfortunately, in the room was cold, too. We've turned the AC on in order to heat the room, but we've noticed that it became even colder. And the explanation we've got was that the AC had been set on summer time and can't be reset even if the weather didn't look like summer at all. So, we turned the AC off and put all the blankets on while sleeping. Meanwhile, in the reception hall, it was abnormally warm.

Review 73:The room was very large and had very big windows; for sure you've got a wonderful panorama over the old city when the weather is good enough.

Review 74:The bathroom was not very clean on arrival. There were some hair residues on the floor.

Review 75:Location, very near the historic center. Also, easy car parking on the surroundings.

Review 76:Difficult to shut the bathroom door.

Review 77:Good location. Centra heating. great views from our 6th floor room. Free parking - easy to access. Good breakfast. Value for money. Would stay there again

Review 78:nothing

Review 79:Excellent location and great view from our room and specially from the breakfast room. Friendly staff and very large and confortable room. Guimaraes is a very beautiful and pleasant city to visit.

Review 80:We had diner there one night and the man at the counter was unfriendly. And took ages to get our diner (just salads and sandwiches)

Review 81:Very nice hotel, with free parking and just 5 minutes away from the down town in a nice stroll.

Review 82:Some details such as the facade of the building and the wooden panels on the walls in the hallways look old and remember me of the communist era hotels, but these are only details.

Review 83:The hotel has an excellent location near the Guimaraes train station and about 10 minutes away from the city center. The area in which the hotel is located is also nice and not too steep. The room is quite big and has a breathtaking view over the city and its castle. The bathroom is nice and well equipped. The staff speaks English and it's very helpful. All in all I think it's great value for money.

Review 84:The hotel is very conveniently located closeby (100 m) the train station. It is the ideal solution for a visit to the town, as the historical centre is also very close to the hotel.

Review 85:Nothing major but felt the bar could do with something to create more of an atmosphere

Review 86:Value for money and spacious rooms. Underground parking, very easy to book

Review 87:The bathroom was a bit strange, like a hospital bathroom.

Review 88:The hotel is rather old fashioned but well maintained. Amazing view from the breakfast room on the top floor. The triple room was massive with a panoramic view of Guimaraes. Free underground parking.

Review 89:It is conveniently situated, close enough to the city center and closeto the access and exit routes. We were going to Porto airport the nextday and it took us roughly one hour to get there without stress. It iscomfortable and practical.

Review 90:For the money, there was nothing not to like.

Review 91:The hotel was excellently located and very good value for money. An ideal base from which to explore Guimarães, after a good breakfast in the 11th. floor restaurant, with its bird's eye views over the city.

Review 92:Not a criticism but it seemed like more of a business hotel than anything else and I'm not sure we'd stay there with young children for more than a couple of nights. Great for an overnight stay though.

Review 93:The views from the breakfast room were great, the room we were given was large, and it was very good value. My daughters both enjoyed the buffet breakfast served here and included in the overnight price much more than the table service breakfast we paid 11 euros per person for at a swanky hotel in Spain.

Review 94:Breakfast was a bit poor even for a 3*** hotel. Not much more to choosefrom apart cheese and ham. Only can fruit was available.

Review 95:Room's area was huge (at least for the one we stay) and the view wasalso nice.

Review 96:Excellent value for money: basic but complete service. Good location, 10min walk from the city center. Simple breakfast, with nice 360 view of the city/area. (11th floor)

Review 97:The equipment in the room was somewhat outdated and the bathroom lookedlike an original Formica, creation. The air conditioning was the worstaspect. Me and my other half were very ill after our second night withchest infection and the air conditioning was to blame. Also the room wasnot that clean which did not help with the bacteria issues. Thebreakfast was also disappointing with the cheapest of ingredients and nofresh fruit. The only fruit on offer was very cheap tinned stuff thatwas grainy.

Review 98:The location was good. The hotel was right next to the train station anda short walk from the town centre. Free wifi was also helpful.

Review 99:Room on 10 floor was noisy one night from a rowdy party in the bar on 11 floor hotel quitened them down

Review 100:Great location for old town (10 min walk) and rail station (3 mins).clean rooms good buffet breakfast , free wifi buffet on top floor and rooms on higher floors have amazing views .great for a cheap 3 star.

Review 101:7 min walk away from the lovely city centre of Guimaraes - European Capital of Culture 2012 - underground parking, quiet, clean, friendly personnel. Very good value for money

Review 102:a hotel for commercial people, that tries to be kind for tourists, cold atmosphere, not at all Portuguese every half day you need to ask a new password for Internet fully automised air conditioning : always unhealthy hot in the room the won't see me anymore

Review 103:only the lcoation could please me

Review 104:The facility in the hotel is great and it's very clean; the location isgreat, just 1 mins walk from the train station and 3 mins walk to thedowntown. It also provide the free breakfast. My friends and I enjoyedthe hotel very much.

Review 105:Excellent views. Convenient and secure free parking. Good price.Adequate facilities. Adequate breakfast. Free computer with internet inlobby for guests. Reception staff spoke English and were helpful.

Review 106:The free car park. The toilet. The quite and spacious room. The facilities.

Review 107:bar not being open till 7pm, so no where to get drinks or snacks if you opted to stay in hotel

Review 108:location

Review 109:noisy room

Review 110:the air condition was too noisy

Review 111:the location was very good, very close to the station and only a couple of minutes from the center

Review 112:localização preço/qualidade

Review 113:not enough shampoo
