Reviews for Pensao O Laranjeira
Review 1:My room was not very sound-proofed.
Review 2:Great location. Easy 5 minute walk from train station and to waterfront. Very friendly family runs the property which is decorated with antiques, family history, and interesting painted wall features. Great view from my balcony to the castle on the hill. Good breakfast.
Review 3:No bad experience but would be nice if breakfast was supplied.
Review 4:Well situated. Good value and extremely clean. Large room. Lovely bsthroom, comfy bed. Quiet location.
Review 5:the shower could be cleaned properly a bit more often. There were signs of water at the ceiling.

Review 7:Nothing
Review 8:Everything - short walk from the railway station, plenty of eating places nearby (including the downstairs restaurant and enough to see and do over the three days and two nights we were in Viana do Castelo. Plenty of info on what to see and do on our arrival - all within walking distance or a short funicular ride away.
Review 9:Kind of noisy since it is an old house but well outweighed by the friendly service!
Review 10:Family business so a warm welcome. We lived it here! Go eat in the restaurant as well: very good food.
Review 11:No elevator and a lot of steps yo climb, no parking nearby Very very noisy!! No sound proofing at all!! We could hear our neighbors breath!! Not snore!!
Review 12:Location
Review 13:The mattress in our room ("Filigrana") was a too hard for our ageing backs.
Review 14:The personnel in this family-run pensão were extremely friendly. The breakfast and restaurant are excellent. The decoration is very tasteful.
Review 15:The B&B is charming and Helena and the staff are very welcoming. The room was clean and pretty, and had a small balcony overlooking the street. Liked it so much we stayed an extra night.
Review 16:Helena took time to welcome us and give us information about the city as well as the fascinating history of her family. Although the rooms were in the central part of the old city, it was quiet and had the added advantage of their restaurant downstairs. The food was excellent.
Review 17:It is such a a beautiful quaint hotel in a lovely setting. The rooms are updated - very clean and just lovely. We were very comfortable and felt very welcomed. We ate breakfast there which was included. The restaurant had fresh flowers, fruit, cheese, pastries, coffee and fresh squuezed orange juice. We had to check out but the lunch and dinner menus looked varied and delicious. Maria Eugenia took care of us during our stay and did an excellent job!
Review 18:Breakfast was fantastic. We ate dinner as well, which also super nice! Location is absolutely city centre. Easy access to anywhere. Room was stylish with cool interiors and very clean!
Review 19:Nothing :-)
Review 20:Very good location in the center. Very nice and helpfull staff. It is family hotel and you can meet 4 generations there (including the youngest 5months girl :-) ) It is possible to park for free in large parking, it is cca 10 minutes walk from the hotel, the staff gave us the map.
Review 21:Very basic interior, seems older and very small room. Parking is difficult near the pensao.
Review 22:Nice location and what you get for the price is absolutely okay. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Review 23:Leaving
Review 24:Great hospitality and if you want to eat 'real' Portugese food the the family resaurant is a must. The newly renovated rooms are stylishly quirky and if you are very lucky, you might just get a cuddle with baby Maria.
Review 25:Our room was slightly on the small side, not much room to walk behind the bed. Saying that..we had first dibs and we choose it for the lovely outside space that came with this room: a terrace with tables & chairs.
Review 26:It's a family run business and the owners were lovely, personable and friendly! The decor is homely with a cool & trendy touch. We had airco in the room, which was a blessing and a lovely outside area/terrace with tables & chairs too. Location could not be better!
Review 27:The condensate from the air conditioner dribbled on to the floor creating a puddle.
Review 28:Comfortable room in a traditional family run pensao with emerald green-tiled facade, balcony and view of Santa Luzia church on the hill. Convenient location adjacent to the pedestrian area. Good instructions provided to access cheap secure parking a few blocks away.Great pastry shop across the road and a good dinner served in the downstairs restaurant. A light and simple breakfast was provided.
Review 29:1st floor rear room was very small but opened onto a spacious bacony. 2nd floor rear rooms the best.
Review 30:Great location and service.Staff friendly and attentive.Wifi service was lacking but I was assured it was to be fixed. Good value and the best pasties just accross the road..!
Review 31:This place was gorgeous. Fresh, spotless, comfortable. We stayed in two different rooms over three nights. It was really lovely. I couldn't fault it.
Review 32:It is possible to drop off close to this hotel. Free safe parking can be found not too far away. Very comfortable room, though a bit small. We arrived soaked and the owner took our clothes and dried them in the tumble dryer for us.
Review 33:design concept of the pensao and rooms (had one with terrace with view of the cathedral on the hill), rich breakfast was served in own awarded restaurant, location at heart of the city yet quite rooms
Review 34:Antic bathroom... Very old heating system Two solutions : freeze or accept a high level of noise. The site give a possibility to park nearby for 4€/day. We payed 19€?. we do not recommend this pension in winter.
Review 35:Well located in the town center. Parking entrance is very close to the pension. Good breakfast!
Review 36:uncomfortable and small bed for two, in portugal only small, thin bed linen is usual, very much street noise and noisy air condition
Review 37:Very friendly staff, familiary, very good restaurant for dinner
Review 38:Room a bit small and a few minutes walk to car park but they were very helpful in giving us map to find it.
Review 39:Lovely, helpful lady who spoke excellent English. Good location in town and easy walk to most facilities. Breakfast included and had our meals in the hotel and the food was very reasonable and delicious.
Review 40:We loved our stay in the Pensano. Great town and an excellent base for travellers in the North West and the nearby beaches. Every room has a creative design. Spotless clean. And the restaurant downstairs is a highlight with superb food.
Review 41:very very small room with no window to the outside, just one window to the inside hallway and very loud. You could hear everyone coming in and going out all night. Breakfast was a lot of carbs and sugar. I saw some rooms were much bigger and with window to the outside, and they all cost the same price. It looks like if you reserve in advance they give you their worse room.
Review 42:clean, excellent location
Review 43:To be objective we must say that the room was rather small and the walls were rather thin, was no problem for us, but could be for some sensitive persons :)
Review 44:Very nice, friendly and helpful family running the hotel and the restaurant downstairs. Recently renovated, modern and clean room. Good breakfast with outstanding coffee, which gave a good mood and boost for the whole day and (which is very rare to get in hotels). However, absolute highlight was the restaurant downstairs, we were 4th time in Portugal and this was one of the best dining experiences we have enjoyed (and it was the case all three evening we were eating there :))!
Review 45:More tha fulfilled our expectations.
Review 46:Location, welcome, comfort and ease of use. Nice breakfast included. Good value. Family residence converted to small pension, Still run by the family who are very welcoming and helpful.

Review 59:None
Review 60:Great hostess Restaurant worth a visit
Review 61:Everything, thank you!
Review 62:Very friendly staff, pleasant and beautiful decorated rooms, good breakfast and located right in the center
Review 63:Internet didn't work in the room, so we went to wifi spot outside of the room.
Review 64:Very clean and convenient hotel with kind staffs.
Review 65:Very friendly & welcoming, nice room in an interesting old building with excellent restaurant downstairs.
Review 66:Parking the car was a bit tricky but what to expect in the city center...
Review 67:Well located in the center, nice and clean house.
Review 68:Small rooms. As a couple, we travel light with only carry on luggage. If you have 2 full sized suitcases you will be struggling to move freely around the room. We were stepping over ours.
Review 69:The apartments are located right in the middle of town so all attractions are walking distance. We booked a room with a terrace and Im glad we did as the rooms are small, the terrace made it feel a little bigger plus it had a great view of the church on the hill. If you have a car, the parking station is only 500 metres from the apartments and Helena provides you with a map of how to get there.
Review 70:Not faultbif hotrl, just a travejer tip: Parking not easy. Park in garage parking nearby
Review 71:Smack in town (warning: if driving forget about finding street parking nearby! Go to a parking garage) Fab clean and modern rooms. Ours had a balcony. Breakfast was simple but generous and good. She makes the quince jam herself and its delicious. Location perfect for walking all if the town. Great value.
Review 72:Room was small but very well laid out, nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. Downstairs is the restaurant and it's truly outstanding. Breakfast (included in room pricing) was served to us in the downstairs dining room and was ample and excellent.
Review 73:Our suggestion to give clients a card and map to the parking garage willmake things easier.
Review 74:Ellen's charming welcome and personal interest. We loved staying ina truly family-run operation. Father's hosting manner at dinner madeus feel so special, and the regional specialities were delicious.
Review 75:our room was very small and more for one person than for a couple. no space left. Bathroom was good .
Review 76:we could not try the restaurant but i guess it is a very good address to have diner.
Review 77:Nice hotel in the middle of the town. Very friendly staff. We slept the first night on the frontside and after a noisy night (students celebrating end of season) the staff offered us (without our request) a room on the backside. Wonderful restaurant on the groundfloor.
Review 78:Great value, I highly recommend. Very central, all new and right at thecenter, a couple of minutes to everywhere. Woman who ran the place spokefluent English, she very nice and helpful - at check-in, gave me a citymap and suggested places to see (the map is better than what is beinggiven at the Turismo). Breakfast included (coffee/tea, break, spread, diced fresh fruits, sliced cheese) served at the restaurant onground floor (also ran by the same woman). The restaurant was very goodtoo (tried it for dinner once). The room I got was very well-lit and hasa terrace overlooking the hill with Sta Luzia Church on top. Room is onthe small side, a bit cramped but they were creative with the space, managed to put in a closet. Bathroom very clean and the shower easy toget to. One of two places I stayed in Portugal where the bathtowel rodis by the shower, as it should.
Review 79:We liked everything!
Review 80:The family who own and operate it were smiling, friendly, super-simpatico. The decoration is a combination of old and new -- family photographs adorn the walls and our room was modern, colorful, tasteful and comfortable. The breakfast was ample, and generous -- big pots of coffee and milk, (refillable) plus fruit, bread, butter, jam, cheese, cakes. Located in the old, historic part of Viana, one can walk all over town from there.
Review 81:Nothing. Fabulous location in a beautiful town.
Review 82:Lovely room, clean and well decorated. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely restaurant below.
