Reviews for Martin's Brugge

Review 1:Wifi was terrible in the room and we had loud music in the halls playing over the sound system at 06:00..not a happy wife..

Review 2:Very good location! Close to everything and good service!

Review 3:The Car Park was full so we couldn't get in, so had to park in a public Car Park about 5 minutes walk away. As it happens the public Car Park was much cheaper (about 9 Euros per day).

Review 4:The location of the hotel is excellent for visiting historic Bruges. The staff were very helpful and attentive. Breakfast was very good if a little pricey but cheaper if you book the night before. Overall though the hotel was good value.

Review 5:Parking at the hotel costs 25 euro a night which is 4 times more expensive than the car park 5 mins walk away

Review 6:Excellent location with underground parking

Review 7:Being charged double until the money clears?!

Review 8:I booked this between a mini cruise for my parents at Christmas. They loved it. Plan on returning next year. They've not moaned so it must have been good!

Review 9:My safe didn't work. The rooms were not as expected/pictured: it was sufficient for our needs and clean but the room was quite dark, slightly dungey and in need of some further renovations (not a modern, bright room as pictured). I travelled with my parents who stayed in an adjacent room and had

Review 10:As expected, the location is excellent - right behind the Belfry. You are walking distance to everything. The staff was helpful.

Review 11:I thought I was booking a modern, trendy hotel as that was the impression I got from the website. I booked for New Year months ahead and spent quite some time picking my hotel. I thought this hotel was central( which it was) and quite cool and modern. If I had wanted scant faculties and a tiny room I would have picked a budget hotel. The first room I was given was on a floor that was being decorated. I came out of the lift into floor in which all the walls were very shabby and had bits of poly filler in all the walls, as though it were half way through renovation. The room I was allocated was appalling, an old, unfashionable, tired room, like something out of the 1970s. It had old mustardy brown wall and old , browny patterned bed linen and carpets. It was tiny. It was horrible. I was near to tears and said I could not stay in it. One of the cleaners told me to ask for s room beginning with the number 7 as this wing was renovated. I did so, as they were nearly sold out it was difficult but they gave me one. This room was decorated in normal, modern style; white walls , dark plain carpet and the bathroom was modern and white. It was acceptable but still very far from what I was expecting for over 100 a night. It was very small and had no tea and coffee making facilities. I have never, ever stated in a hotel with no tea making faculties. We went down to the restaurant in the morning and asked if we could get a cup of tea, they said no, you have to buy one from the bar. Each morning they got someone to open the bar and gave us a mug of hot water a tiny plastic carton of milk and a tea bag in a paper wrapper- for this we were charged 3 euro fifty! I feel that had I booked a budget hotel like ibis I would have had more ( like tea and coffee)for a lot less. I was very, very disappointed and it dampened what was supposed to be a celebratory weekend.

Review 12:The location was fantastic.

Review 13:On the ground floor, front northwest corner, the odour of drains spoiled our break somewhat. Reported and given a discount by way of free parking but the room did have a drainage problem.

Review 14:The location and general ambience were very good

Review 15:I was allocated Room 159 on the third floor. It was the furthest room from all the hotel facilities. No windows as such. Only sky lights. View was of rooftops.

Review 16:Brilliant staff. Great location. Good facilities.

Review 17:I paid for a double bed and got 2 singles pushed together with 2 single duvets no facilities in room to make a hot drink room very small not impressed at all the breakfast was ok Same food each day not that great not the best hotel I've stayed in for the price view was a brick wall

Review 18:Not much

Review 19:Rooms (especially bathrooms) are dated. Water from the shower flows onto the bathroom floor and we ended up towel-drying the floor. Room was very noisy and it took us 20mins to checkout. Not worth a 'Very good' rating

Review 20:great location and really easy to find. Close to busses and walking distance to everything

Review 21:The breakfast is too expensive despite the early booking discount. A family of 4 made it an expensive option

Review 22:The location is great and having access to parking was great, although funding the hotel and parking were difficult.

Review 23:The hotel was renovated so there were no carpets and the walls were not properly painted with a lot of dust in the corridors. Quite small room

Review 24:Hotel located at the city centre Clean room

Review 25:Actually there was nothing I didn't like about. This hotel.

Review 26:Staff are very polite and friendly. In the old town of Brugge, very good location. Room was a good size and all facilities were perfect. Room was very clean.

Review 27:The breakfast is pricey and we did not eat at the hotel for this reason. There are several options outside.

Review 28:Just around the corner from the market. Excellent location. Staff are friendly and helpful. Great value for money.

Review 29:I have no reason to complain, but the checkout may be time consuming on a busy morning: We saw people waiting for around 30 miss to pay the bill at the end of their stay

Review 30:It's impossible not to like the hotel. It's located right in the heart of the old town 100 meters from the Belfry. The room was cozy, the service impeccable, the staff professional and friendly, and the breakfast offers a nice selection for all tastes.

Review 31:The location of this property is excellent! It's only takes less than 2 mins walk to the square and nearby plenty of restaurants. Most of the landmarks close to the hotel and it might only takes 10-15 mins to the furthest.

Review 32:Small, minimalistic room, but for €80 definitively ok. No further amenities. And toilet not clean upon arrival.

Review 33:Perfect location, directly at the back of the Belfort. Parking garage. Good value for money. Polite staff.

Review 34:It was really hot in the room which stopped us sleeping. Even though it's been a mild December, the room was still very warm. We had no heating on and could not switch on air con for some reason. We had to keep window open, which meant we could hear street outside all night.

Review 35:Location was perfect, right in the Centre. Reception staff were brilliant. Sound-proofed windows (when closed) even though overlooking street.

Review 36:The room was small and dreary with only 5 coat hangers and according tothe receptionist this is all you are allowed.

Review 37:The hotel is right in the heart of the Brugge and therefore veryconvenient for site seeing.

Review 38:The lobby and breakfast room look nice but the rest of the place seemed like a hotel in search of some love. A bit shabby--corridors are being redone which will be nice. Bathroom leaks badly and needs a new hose and shower head. Plus, the whole of the hotel is dark, dark, dark. Brighten it up!

Review 39:The location is great--right off the square. The staff was very friendly and helpful and breakfast was good. Potential is enormous for a really nice hotel.

Review 40:We didnt realise how far from the sea it was (our fault !) Courtesy bus finished quite early (?)

Review 41:Courtesy bus into town every day Catering, facilities and accommodation First Class Staff all very friendly & helpful

Review 42:Martin's is in the heart of Brugges, right next to the main square. The hotel was really clean & perfect for our 2 night stay. The rooms are small but very comfortable.

Review 43:Nothing really to complain about

Review 44:We really loved this hotel. It was right next to the main square/Belfry in Bruges, which if you haven't been, is lovely walking town. So being in the center of the city made getting almost anywhere pretty convenient. Clean rooms, friendly staff, pleasant feeling all around.

Review 45:I strongly discourage anyone to book this hotel in the next weeks (and maybe even months) as there are renovations taking place, and the hotel had initially booked us a room where we woke up at 8am to the loud sounds of construction above. When I notified reception the woman initially shrugged and said 'yes, we have a lot of construction going on in the coming weeks' - and it was only when I absolutely insisted that she gave us a different room away from the noises. I presume some other unfortunate traveller ended up in the room we initially had, as the hotel didn't seem to care that construction affects guests. I think this says a lot about a hotel's ethos; at least shut the wing where construction is taking place. Don't risk it, it would have significantly affected our holiday if we hadn't managed to get a different room!

Review 46:The breakfast was fantastic, and the location could not have been better.

Review 47:25 euros for parking is far too expensive and adds to the overall cost of the stay. Also failure to pre-book breakfast results in an extra 5 euro charge per person. Could really not rationalise any such charge.

Review 48:Reception staff were pretty inept. Took about 20 mins to check-in only to be told the room wasn't ready (at 2.30 pm), then told to leave the bags in luggage room and it would be open.... Went there and it was locked so had to go back to reception and queue again. Finally at 3.30 we got into our room - well sort of as the reception staff had given us the wrong key...so back down to reception again to queue! Average service, average room although I must say housekeeping staff were fantastic - thorough and friendly

Review 49:Location

Review 50:1. Renovation (banging grinding operating of tools) started at 8am and hotel staff said it's normal. 2. Some staff did not seem polite at all. When we arrived to check in (we were the only guests waiting), there were 4 female staff at the front desk most busy chatting. Most did not even acknowledge us and it took quite a few seconds for one of them to do so. Also, a male staff in his 30's with short black / dark brown hair seen around the front desk area often never seem to have manners not even look at guests in the eyes let alone greeting / smile. 3. When we checked out it was busy checkout time in the morning at the front desk there was a queue waiting but there was only one staff. 4. Room sound proving not good. 5. We asked for a quiet room but was given one next to lifts and storage room where cleaning staff needed to use frequently early in the morning. 6. Bathroom basin drain seemed to to be cloaking up very easily.

Review 51:If I had to find a fault it would be that there was no complimentary tea/coffee available in the room.

Review 52:We thought the hotel and staff were excellent. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was luxurious. We also enjoyed the breakfast.

Review 53:Although the rooms were smaller than expected they were perfectly adequate for a weekend break. The hotel is PERFECTLY SITUATED for a 10 min walk from the station and right in the centre of town but not a noisy part of town. highly recommend for a weekend break, and the bar prices were reasonable too!

Review 54:Just thought the garage parking was quite expensive but so convenient especially when it rains non stop. No issues just that. very happy.

Review 55:Helpful staff fantastic location cleaning staff very helpful garage facilities excellent but rather expensive everything at hand. Good restaurant/ bar

Review 56:Second visit, We were put in a room adjacent to the hotel, this rooms was quite noisy and we had to walk through the courtyard to exit the hotel. preferred room on first visit.

Review 57:Great location, clean rooms, good service

Review 58:We travelled by car and booked this hotel as it has a car park! We opted for a local car park as the hotel charge €25 per day. The local car park was €8 a day. Local car park is 100 metres away and well worth the walk. The hotel is being refurbished and smells of paint. A temporary inconvenience I'm sure.

Review 59:The location of the hotel us absolutely fantastic. Right behind the belfry and main square. Very clean too.

Review 60:Took longer than we had hoped to actually get into our room - 4.30 rather than 3pm check in time despite dropping luggage off and checking in at 11am. Need more staff on desk at check out time.

Review 61:Fantastic location - very central and close to everything Breakfast definitely worth the 12 euros cost (prebook the day before or pay 17 euros on the day)

Review 62:I think the hotel rooms must be more looked after better. On the bedding we found hear and in the bathroom too.

Review 63:What we did like in the hotel was breakfast

Review 64:no facilities to change if you leave your bags in the luggage place, same if you walk to the hotel on check-in and your room is not available then you could be left in wet clothes if it is raining

Review 65:Excellent location - 30 seconds walk from nearly anywhere Value for money- really good price for a good hotel Staff accommodating - as they could be - wanted early check-in but couldn't get it

Review 66:Overall temperature of hotel was on the hot side. Bar prices a bit expensive.

Review 67:Rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast buffet very good. Location great for exploring Brugge on foot.

Review 68:We had a problem with a clog of hair down the shower drain which flooded the bathroom however once reported was quickly taken care of.

Review 69:The location was amazing. Breakfast was perfect loads of choice even for fussy eaters. Staff very friendly and lock up for holding suitcases was a god send

Review 70:Security deposit on check in of €200 that i wasn't made aware of. Bar doesn't open until evening

Review 71:Locations was excellent with all restaurants, bars and tourist attractions less than 5 minutes away. Staff friendly and breakfast gorgeous although a little expensive.

Review 72:There was no heat in our room and so we had to move. They were renovating the halls and the cleaning staff was having problems getting the rooms cleaned on time.

Review 73:Staff was a bit overwhelmed at times, but very nice. The location is terrific and everyone was helpful and enthusiastic.

Review 74:Our first night was spent in the most awful room in the attic with steep steps to get into the room with no warning of the steps and no safety precautions to stop you falling down the stairs from the room. Also the water taps in the bath didn't work properly, and the beds were right up against the slanting roof so we both hit our heads on the roof when getting out of bed. We requested a reduction in our bill for our first night in this awful room but were told this wasn't possible as we booked on-line? Poor service we thought.

Review 75:Great location

Review 76:The room was a little like a sauna and the air con didn't really want to play ball. Also, be prepared for ALOT of brown!

Review 77:Fantastic location!! Literally a hop skip and jump from the Markt. Friendly staff and an overall pleasant atmosphere.

Review 78:NO restaurant, no availability for beverage during the day (Tea, Coffee, Soft drinks) until the bar opened (evening) no facilities in room for same. Lounge area sparse, poor

Review 79:Excellent staff, good location

Review 80:Room was a bit small. Bar was very quiet most of the days.

Review 81:Great location in the lovely town center of Brugge. Around the corner from main square, bars and restaurants.

Review 82:Parking was very narrow. On one occasion our car was blocked by a staff member and we had to wait to be able to leave.

Review 83:Great location. Could see the belfry from the bedroom window.

Review 84:I had visited Bruges on day trips, but fell in love totally for 4 days. The hotel was in a brilliant central location. Perfect pillows, and great breakfast. Walking distance of everything. The reception staff marked our tourist map to take in lots of things that were free, not just the 'tourist' things. Wonderful place and the people of Bruges were lovely too.

Review 85:They take a €50 euro holding fee along side your booking fee, however on our occasion they took more than double this amount which when I spoke to reception staff they could not confirm actually how much they had taken from my bank account. It was very confusing and it wasn't explained to us when we checked in so it was lucky I had the extra money in my account.

Review 86:Great location. Comfortable room :)

Review 87:The rooms are very small for the price paid and are noisy. The rooms by the street are very noisy from the traffic outside, also the bed and floor vibrates when the city bus drives by.

Review 88:The hotel is very convenient to the center.

Review 89:The paint was unfinished in the corridors. The handle by the bath was almost coming off and no tea or coffee facilities in the room.

Review 90:The location is dead center you can't fault it. Although I now know it wouldn't matter where you stay it's all really accessible.

Review 91:no tea and coffee facilities in room. After arriving in one evening when the bar was still open, the barman refused to make us tea, even though he still had people in the bar drinking. This was very poor considering we had not tea/coffee facilities in room

Review 92:the location was ideal and very central

Review 93:Our rooms weren't ready on our arrival (60 minutes after their check-in time) The staff were unhelpful, one guy was in fact very rude and they appeared very ill-trained. They suggested drinks in the bar (at our expense) until rooms were ready for us. This was nearly 5pm, 2 hours after check in time. We were then informed on check out 2 days later, that we would be charged for late check out if we did not vacate our rooms on time!!

Review 94:The location is excellent, very central. The bar area is nice, and our room was lovely, modern furnishings but with lovely old beams.

Review 95:Ideal central location for exploring on foot. On site parking available (restricted number of places). Staff approachable and efficient. (Problem with a blocked sink fixed within the hour).

Review 96:It had no tea/coffee facilities, the cleaning wasn't top.

Review 97:The location couldn't be better. The employees were really nice. The room was big and the bed was comfortable.

Review 98:Towels and sheets could be changed more frequently. For double room - more closet space needed.

Review 99:Location is perfect! Only 1 min to the main square, to the restaurants and the supermarket. Very good breakfast! Fresh orange juice :-)

Review 100:thought the car parking was a bit expensive. A small bottle of water from the fridge was 3 euros, and we do like tea/coffee making facilities in the room but there weren't any

Review 101:location was great

Review 102:Nothing to mention...

Review 103:We had our wedding anniversary that weekend, they were lovely to put a lovely card, chocolate and roses in our room and they have given most cosy room and view at the hotel. Everything was wonderful.

Review 104:Ground floor room noisy. Bathroom poorly heated.

Review 105:Excellent breakfast buffet. Appreciated the freshly squeezed orange juice. Very comfy bed. Good sized well equipped bathroom.

Review 106:A member of our party unfortunately mislaid his passport and left without it, when he realised this he contacted the hotel who couldn't / wouldn't help in anyway to deliver the passport to the airport.....we will not use this hotel in the future. We also booked 4 double rooms and one triple room with you, can you explain why the triple room rate did not include breakfast when the double rooms were inclusive of breakfast.

Review 107:We had a great stay at the Martin's hotel. The staff is friendly, everything is well taken care of. Foremost the hotel has a perfect location within the historical centre of Brugge

Review 108:we would have liked tea making facilities and a room with a proper window so we could see out. the staff at were without exception very kind and helpful

Review 109:the position of the hotel is excellent so close to lovely shops, lovely sites and good restaurants and bars, very close to the Wall of Beer where you can sit outside by the canal and enjoy a lager

Review 110:The room could do with better sound-proofing as we were woken up several times by guests in adjacent rooms.

Review 111:Beautiful hotel, great location, very pleasant staff and a warm welcome.

Review 112:We didn't stay for longer.

Review 113:The staff were so nice, we had a large 4x4 too big for their carpark and they directed us to a larger carpark and drew a map! Hotel room had view of Castle and was lovely and clean Aswell as cosy. The location couldn't have been better behind the belfort less than two mins to center square, chocokate shops 30 seconds away!!! Didn't eat the breakfast but smelt it! Wish we did have it though. We are already planning to come back! Thanks all staff at Martins!

Review 114:Just around the corner from the Brugge Belfry Tower, Historium, an Market. Close to the Train Station...made for a relaxed stress-free visit. The room was small, but certainly adequate and comfortable and nicely appointed - good to have a bar fridge . staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Review 115:There was a long wait to check in. When we checked out they failed to give us a token to get out of the car park and this delayed our departure. As we had a ferry to catch we were not happy. The ceiling is very low in the car park and we caught and damaged our tailgate on it. The rooms were very dark and tired.

Review 116:Nothing!

Review 117:This hotel is in the perfect location! It is just steps from the square and just steps from the beautiful canals right behind the hotel. It was very convenient to be able to drop by our room without it taking too much time out of our day. Our room was bigger than expected, with a beautiful window view of the unique Belgium buildings. The AC worked wonderfully and the shower pressure was great.

Review 118:The hotel was in a great, convenient location. Beautiful inside and out, we walked in and it even smelled wonderful without being overpowering. Our room was clean, quiet and very comfortable! Staff was very helpful!

Review 119:The staff was not very helpful. We were with another couple and had a shared car and the staff went on to charge the two couple a parking ticket without even asking if they have a car. Also, around the area the waffle places were just no proper Belgian chocolate wafles which was quite a disappointment.

Review 120:The location is the city centre.

Review 121:Having to pay to use hotel car park, this should be free to hotel clients.

Review 122:Great location close to tourist sites. Brilliant breakfast. Comfortable bed and pillows.

Review 123:Room size was extremely small, with some 300mm on either side of bed to move around the room. Room was dark, and not in good order. Looked out onto brick wall. Booking through "Booking.com" does seem to ensure you get a lower standard room.

Review 124:The noise in my room from outside from about 6.15 was not good at all. The rooms we were in seemed to be on the side of the hotel and not as good as i think the other rooms presumably were

Review 125:Location. Staff. Entrance. Facilities. Decorations.

Review 126:We booked this hotel as they advertise that they have parking but their car park was already full when we arrived and they seem surprised that we hoped to park there. Got directions to a nearby public car park which was superb, secure and a fraction of the price of the hotel car park.

Review 127:Central location and easy to find.

Review 128:The location and price was excellent. My older son was with me and we were able to split the beds to sleep separately. Great bathroom! Helpful staff.

Review 129:We loved the location, and the underground parking, it meant that we could park the car in a secure location and not worry about it for the 2 days. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the beds were very comfortable and the shower was magnificent.

Review 130:accomodation and meal price are high. Also you have to make rezervation for breakfast to be having discount I never ever heart about that anywhere

Review 131:location has an advantage

Review 132:On checking out, the taxi which you had booked for 11-00 am turned up 10 minutes late.

Review 133:Comfortable quiet room. Pleasant courteous staff. Excellent breakfasts. Perfectly located for sight-seeing.

Review 134:Nothing

Review 135:The hotel breakfast was really excellent with a wonderful selection of food. It is much better value for money than any of the restaurants nearby.
