Reviews for Okinawa Resort
Review 1:In the cottage there are 2 single beds and 1 futon bed, which is uncomfortable if you are not used too. To go to the beach, the best is furuzamami beach, you have to walk for 15 mins, which is not so bad, or take a bus.
Review 2:Zamami is beautiful, the owners very kind and helpful. The resort is basic and not on the beach as most of the accomodations in Zamami, but i think one of the best options. Well, if you go in zamami you cant expect one of those 5 stars resorts. We stayed in the cottage with bathroom, anyway the shared bathroom is very clean.
Review 3:We stayed in the annex cottage, which has its own washroom and shared kitchen. There was also a nice rooftop patio area and free laundry. We loved staying here! The couple who run the resort are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable. It was a very convenient location - about a 15 minute walk to 2 beautiful beaches, a few minutes to a grocery store, and there are many restaurants within a few minutes too. You can rent bikes, snorkel gear, etc from the owners. Note that the internet signal didnt make it to our room, so we had to go to the shared kitchen for wifi, but we didnt really need much wifi while enjoying the island! We loved Zamami and the Okinawa Resort!
Review 4:Fantastic facilities. Wonderful owners. Really thought this place was out of the world, and I have stay at many beaches. Perhaps not the cheapest place to stay, but if you have 4 people and get one of the new bungalows, it'll be a good deal. Lots of bathrooms and showers in the rooms and outside. Full kitchen for use.
Review 5:My boyfriend and I decided to visit Kerama Islands last minute so we hadn't booked in advance. We found several guest houses - all full, so we used booking.com to book Okinawa resort. It was a bit of a disappointment from the beginning - they hadn't informed booking.com of another couple so the room we booked was unavailable and they tried to charge us more for another room. It was dealt with unprofessionally from the get go. The rooms were pretty average with a shared toilet. There was no one else there the entire 3 nights although everywhere else was full with a great vibe. No towels provided and the 'free wifi' didn't work at all. The rooms were over double the price of all other accommodation on the island without anything to show for it.
Review 6:It was clean and well located
Review 7:two beds and a tiny futon on the floor for a 3rd bed (quite not comfortable for the 3rd person) very expensive for what it is (seems all the hotels have the same price on the island) have to pay for everything extra (even a shower after checkout) outdoor activities are quite expensive too
Review 8:the owner came to pick us up at the ferry pier and explain everything about the place very nice people the new cottages are nice with also a rooftop to watch the sky/stars and outside showers and bath tube (missing outdoor lounge chairs and it would be perfect) the island is wonderful and perfect place for snorkeling
Review 9:This is a perfect spot to stay while enjoying Zamami Island. Located right in the middle of the mail village, this little resort was quiet, clean, and hosted by a beautiful couple.
Review 10:The island was surprisingly bigger than I expected. That' about it. You can't cook your own food I guess? But then again, I never asked about that, so maybe you can.
Review 11:The owning couple of the resort were just incredible. Incredibly nice and warm and funny. If you speak Japanese even better! But they do go out of their way to help you even if you speak zero Japanese.
Review 12:Everything! The location was perfect. Close to Zamami port and good restaurants. Our room was the largest we've had in Japan and the most comfortable. Cheap bike hire. And our host was the nicest man! He even knocked on our door to tell us there was a rainbow outside!
Review 13:The beds were not as comfy. The price is the typical Japanese high price for accommodations. During cooler months I would rather camp.
Review 14:This is a great spot to walk from the port, restaurants and the 2 main beaches. The couple who run it are very friendly and helpful. The wife speaks good English. The western style rooms are in a newer building. The shared bathroom and kitchen are new and very clean and easy to use and share. They will pick you up from the port and take you back for free. The breakfast is japanese style for ¥1000 but the tongtang cafe 1 block over offers western breakfast for about ¥600. Some rooms have multiple bunk beds for large groups or families. Kitchen has individual mini fridges for each room and lots of cooking equipment. Great way to save $ on food. Also has washers and dryers for very cheap. Laundry soap included. Bike, scuba, dive rentals all within walking distance or at motel.
Review 15:The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They picked us up and dropped us off at the port. Even though the bathroom and kitchen were shared they were always very clean. The kitchen was fully stocked with plenty of free cooking supplies (including cooking oil). The roof bathtub is a spectacular idea and a great way to relax after a long day at the beach.
Review 16:Idyllic island setting the hotel (and about everything else) is only 10 minutes walk from ferry port. Friendly owner made us feel very much at home in this relaxed island paradise.
Review 17:Owner was extremely friendly. We stayed in a Japanese style room, and there was only really room for sleeping. You don't spend much time in your room anyway. Breakfast is homemade and amazing. It cost extra and you have to tell them the day prior that you want breakfast, but do it.
Review 18:The owner was so kind!!! Very nice people. deliver me when I arrive and leave the hostel . Also I joined the snokelling and he swim with me and showed me a lot of fishes If not so, I will definitely miss a lot Share bathroom and shower but it's ok and clean. But the wifi reception in my room was poor. I guess another room would have better wifi reception. But it's good with no wifi sometimes so u can truly relax. I have to go outside my room to have wifi Breakfast is excellent Very nice place to stay and relax
Review 19:The owner didn't want to accept credit card, saying there is a bad connection with the center and requested to pay with cash. He didn't even want to try to check if the card would work or not. They take money if you want to take shower after check-out. The room had some strange odor.
Review 20:There are many dirt roads that make big bags tough, but that's not their fault.
Review 21:Friendliness and helpfulness in seeing the best of the island and finding good meals. It was very clean and when we asked for a toaster they brought one the next day. The air conditioning was awesome!
Review 22:remember that in Zamami nobody accepts or change foreign currency
Review 23:choosing between western style and japanese style .... we chose japanese one. we liked the atmosphere, the smell of homemade bread in the morning, the kindness and helpfulness of the owners, the great room with a large window .... we did whale watching and snorkeling with them. and above all ... dinner made from them (which must be booked a few days before) !!! must try !!! good and plentiful !!! ABSOLUTELY a place to test it also because the village of Zamami is a wonderful place. If we go back to japan definitely return to OKINAWA RESORT
Review 24:Shozo and his lovely wife were the perfect hosts - fiendly and energetic. Have the breakfast, it is delicious and the organic homemade bread, and the manta ray omelets are amazing. Whale watching was awesome.
Review 25:The roof and terraces are fantastic! Very helpful owners, with a 30 years knowledge of diving around the islands. Despite the name "resort" is actually a cozy not so big place.
Review 26:No complaints
Review 27:Good location in town. Fantastic breakfast provided (+$10 extra). Clean bathrooms. Good AC. Refrigerator provided for each room. Nice rooftop area for star gazing. Good location to beaches - little bit of a walk but not too far. We just wanted to snorkel so it was perfect. Our favorite snorkeling spot was Furuzamami Beach which was walkable from the hotel.
Review 28:The office is in one place, but some of the rooms are in another. They will drive you there, but not get you for breakfast. Nothing on the hotel, but you have to plan for an early dinner or else there are limited options. Zamami is an outdoor experience, so don't be surprised at bugs trying to get into your air conditioned room.
Review 29:Seriously, there are individual showers in the shared bathroom, but the real treat is showering on top of the roof seeing the sun go down. The breakfast is amazing. the herbal tea was fresh out of the owners' garden and the eggs from his chicken's, well, you know. Amazingly friendly couple run the place. A/C was powerful. We knew that our room had four beds and nothing else. Having been in hostels and such, they actually were larger than we expected. The kitchen was really clean so with some planning we could have made our suppers or other meals that we had to find, but the fridges are small, so you can't bring it all.
Review 30:Excellent owners. Very friendly and helpful. You can take trips with them, but it cost extra. We were a group of 5 just looking to relax, snorkel, and enjoy Zamami so we didn't go on any trips.
Review 31:The owner and hes wife were so nice. They helped us and answered our questions. Location is good to. Close to the harbour, store, foodplaces. The beaches were within 15 minutes with bike, that you can rent from them cheap. All you need you can rent there. :)
Review 32:Nothing really
Review 33:Nice informal pension style hotel
Review 34:Lovely couple. We're very polite and took their time to help us. Had bikes we rented for 800 yen and stayed in a traditional room with four ppl.
Review 35:Great place. The owners are extremely helpful. Will definitely go back.
Review 36:The apartments are small, but cosy and comfortable
Review 37:Very nice hosts, great breakfast and fantastic island
Review 38:Room quite small
Review 39:Staff extremely helpful and friendly, Very clean
Review 40:wi-fi didn't work
Review 41:sleeping in tatami room, free laudry machine, welcoming staff
Review 42:wifi never worked for room
Review 43:perfect sized room for a family of 4, great location
Review 44:wifi was not working in our room... also, the price was a bit too much for this standard.
Review 45:nice place with big rooms and super clean bathroom.
Review 46:We like the roof top, pantry and location. Everything was so clean and organised.
Review 47:Not told the rules around the place
Review 48:Poor to very poor breakfast
Review 49:nothing!
Review 50:The staff has been really kind with us, helping and providing us of all our needs!
Review 51:The landlord and landlady were very helpful and caring. Bicycle rental.
Review 52:The location, the infrastructure, ... but most of all, having a shower (and bath) on the roof of the building was amazing !
Review 53:Friendliness of owners, cleanness of the rooms, cooking facilities
Review 54:The selfmade fresh bread in the morning and the daily varying delicious breakfast in general was the best possible start into the day! The various activities which were offered by the really kind couple running the hotel made our stay a unforgettable trip! Snorkling with turtles and Clownfish, diving or fishing in the sea are some given examples!
Review 55:The bed was extremely hard. It was a thin futon on a box spring. I thought the western style room would have a regular mattress.
Review 56:Staff was friendly and breakfast was fantastic. Recommend the "cottage" due to in-suite bathroom and small refrigerator. A little difficult to get around the island so bring a bike but be prepared for hills!
Review 57:the owners and assistant were very warm and helpful, especially when the ferry was cancelled due to inclement weather. Also biking and snorkeling gear at a reasonable price, and an environmentally responsible attitude are big pluses. Water kettle, drying rack, and fan in the room were really convenient. Complementary tea and candies were also nice.
Review 58:Even though we were upgraded to a twin bedroom the bed was very hard and uncomfortable. In Japan it is normal to sleep on the floor but these beds are same as sleeping in the hard tatami floor. No towels provided (perhaps you can rent them separate)
Review 59:The staff is very friendly (translator girl and owner). They came to pick us up in the port when we were not even expecting it :) Location is also good. Close to port and steps away from a great traditional restaurant. We would consider staying there again depending on the price (cost vs benefit)
Review 60:We are stay in the other location about 5 min walk from Okinawa resort base. The problem is we have to go back to the reception to use Wifi or laundry service. And the shower room and toilet are at outdoors, so under sunshine it gets really hot and on raining days we need to use umbrella to get there. Also, there are 3 cabins(with private toilet but can stay up to 5 persons) and 3 twin rooms, you need to get up early or extremely late to avoid 'toilet traffic jam'. One night I found a centipede snaking on my bed which cause me insomnia all night...
Review 61:The price is good. And they have TV and fridge in the room, pretty convenient for storing milk and beverage. We were not lucky enough to book the cabin which had private shower room and toilet.
Review 62:we absolutely loved the upgrade to the cottage; the other cabin (where we stayed the first night) was only a two minute walk away from the main building but the cabins are extremely warm and not very cosy.
Review 63:friendship of the owners. Proximity to all convenient places and free shuttle bus to the beach. Home made breakfast
The Fine Print
