Review 7：Do not make the same mistake as I did and book a room in this hotel. The rooms on the website are quite different than what you find. When I entered the room, I felt like I have just entered a time machine and was in the 70's once again. I closed the door and opened once again just to make sure I was not dreaming. I was enjoying my trip so far but since I checked-in, I almost lost all my will to live. The corridors and the rooms are smelly and our bathtub was not clean. I was supposed to make sweet love to my wife that night but the mood was just depressing. Breakfast, basically the most incomplete I have ever experienced. I had a second breakfast downtown, as soon as I checked out. In conclusion, next time I go to Viana, I will spend a little more and book a decent room at Axis.

Review 9：No bad experiences, just observations. A Mini Bar/fridge in the room would have been really appreciated. No chairs to sit on Balcony. Staffing of the GF Bar could well result in more usage. Whilst the breakfasts were adequate, some daily variation would have been welcome, plus some really cold milk rather than lukewarm for cereals.

Review 10：Just far enough from town centre for quietness but close enough for easy walking access to restaurants & shops. Easy Parking. Room spotless with super view over river. Lovely bathroom with superb shower. Staff polite, very helpful & always had a smiling greeting, We enjoyed our stay.

Reception staff were lovely and immediately gave us swimming towels for the pool as it was an extremely hot day. Fantastic to have plenty of parking outside your hotel, breakfast was adequate and we really enjoyed our stay at Viana do Castello

Review 23：The noise! All through the night we could hear everything from above, below and the sides. Not to mention the trains running past and cars on the cobbled road outside. Add to this the uncomfortable, lumpy beds and this is really not the place to get a good nights sleep!

I guess this is only because these guests were given a room on the 3rd floor: entirely new and modern. We didn't get this lucky (4th floor), and a stinky room with stinky '70s (!) moquette & curtains, old sheets and a yellow-stained blanket was what we were given. Oh, and we paid €1.50 for a mini bottle of water.
