Reviews for Grand Hotel La Favorita
Review 1:The receptionist was very professional & friendly, we booked two rooms and we got an upgrade. The breakfast buffet was excellent, the head waiter was very friendly and professional. A great location too.
Review 2:The service, friendliness of staff and breakfast were outstanding. With Sorrento as our base, we enjoyed the close proximity of Pompeii and Naples and a beautiful drive along the Amalfi Coast. We loved the Italian decor of the hotel, and Luigi and the entire staff at breakfast (which was phenomenal) were incredibly helpful and pleasant. We loved that we could walk to all of the shops and restaurants in Sorrento. A perfect place to relax and enjoy the beautiful Amalfi Coast.
Review 3:The rooftop close during the winter.
Review 4:We loved the kindness of the staff and the quality of the breakfast. The atmosphere of the hotel and rooms is very relaxing.
Review 5:The staff was wonderful. From the front desk, to the restaurant staff everyone was helpful and accommodating. Our children felt welcome by the staff which is not always the case at European hotels.
Review 6:Nothing. Due to the beautiful tiled floors, some noise-sensitive guests have complained about noise/footsteps that could be heard from upper rooms; however, since we were on the top floor with the terrace and pool above us, that wasn't an issue. If you are one of them, you might want to bring earplugs.
Review 7:The hotel is practically right in the center of town, yet still on a very peaceful and quiet street. The sea view from the roof top terrace and the gardens with the lemon trees were beautiful. We were upgraded to a lovely room with a balcony and wonderful view-thank you Salvatore once again! (He was also helpful with restaurant suggestions and reservations) All staff were very polite and pleasant. Parking was 15 Euros per day, but well worth it. Wifi was strong. The open buffet breakfast and restaurant staff were also excellent..especially Mr.Luigi, the maitre d', was exceptional-such a charming and professional gentleman! These important details certainly make a difference in your experience. We had a wonderful stay and I would highly recommend this hotel.
Review 8:Nothing.
Review 9:Marvellous treat to stat here for 3 nights at the end of our stay in Italy. An oasis of calm in a very busy town. Very good food in the underutilised restaurant. Charming staff.
Review 10:Great location, walk to everything. Immaculately clean. Great room, beautiful patios and pool area. Friendly and efficient staff. Excellent breakfast buffet.
Review 11:There isn't anything that I don't like
Review 12:I have stayed in leading five star hotels all over Italy and Europe and La Favorita is my favourite hotel out of all of them. Of course I start with location Sorrento is my favourite place and Favorita is in a perfect location central but just far enough out to be peaceful, it has everything anyone could possibly want for a happy relaxed stay. The hotel is beautiful, traditional but not old fashioned, it is spotlessly clean you could eat off the floor, it is bright and cheerful with beautiful sea views and enchanting gardens and terraces. The rooms are gorgeous, even the cheapest rooms are beautiful. The breakfast which is normally included in the room rate is fantastic, the dining room bright and clean with beautifully laid tables, all the food is absolutely delicious, I don't even eat breakfast normally but when I stay there I eat three course breakfasts because it's too good. The staff in all the hotel are the most lovely people they are the kindest, most helpful, courteous of any hotel I have ever stayed in from the waiters to reception to cleaners to porters to management they are ALL so kind, helpful and cheerful always pleased to see you and want you to be happy, but what makes me love La Favorita above all other hotels is that I feel totally at ease and at home there. I have highly recommended this hotel to everyone I know because I know it will make them as happy as it makes me to stay there.
Review 13:Wifi was quite poor. Paying 15 euro per day for parking.
Review 14:The decor and overall feel was very Italian- which kept the stay authentic. The breakfast was great- lots of variety. Fantastic location. Real king bed and not 2 pushed together!
Review 15:Lacking ambience, but to be fair it was late October, so benefit of the doubt. Don't get a room at the front of the hotel as you will be woken up by a big old dog which constantly barks outside a house across the street. They let it out early morning till late night. It's a pain in the A.. why someone's not had a word is unbelievable really as it must affect anyone who unfortunately get a front facing room. ( by the way ours was a family room , so beware families ).
Review 16:Location fantastic 2 minutes from main square
Review 17:Nothing!
Review 18:Everything!! Location, service, decor, breakfast, you name it! We walked around and surveyed the other local hotels and by far this was the best.
Review 19:Because of beautiful tile floors we could hear other guests above us. But couldn't hear with earplugs and wasnt much of an issue
Review 20:Loved the beautiful large lounge/bar. Truly most beautiful one we have seen. Sax player was excellent. Loved location and ocen views from rooftop pool and bar. Room was spacious and loved the artisian tiles in room. Nice oasis.
Review 21:Wifi coverage did not reach my room. This is a problem which obviously has been around for a while, but management has chosen to ignore.
Review 22:Hotel is beautiful. a great five start for the money. Location the best for seeing Sorrento. Breakfast outstanding. Room spacious and gorgeous.
Review 23:The weather! We were unlucky to have torrential rain and thunderstorms.
Review 24:We were only there 24 hours for a wedding, but the hotel was smart and the location was lovely. The staff were helpful and friendly.
Review 25:Astoundingly beautiful hotel, lavish decor and extraordinary landscaped gardens. Incredible views from the pool deck and perfect breakfast. Extremely attentive staff with considerate manners.
Review 26:Shortage of sun beds
Review 27:Everything at this beautiful, tranquil centrally located hotel was first class. What an amazing way to start your holiday sipping complimentary chilled prosecco on the roof top terrace overlooking Sorrento and the sea.
Review 28:Would have prefered a room on the top floor for a better view but didn't spend that much time in our room so not a big deal.
Review 29:Our family especially liked the pool, the cleanliness of the property and the fabulous location.
Review 30:Our whole experience was amazing. I loved the location of the bedroom opening onto the garden. I couldn't fault our stay and will hopefully come back one day.
Review 31:Nothing all was perfect!
Review 32:The stuff were fantastic and so helpful, Thank you so much to Imma and giovanni who went out of their way and helped us with any request :) The location is perfect just in the middle of the town walking distance from shops, restaurants and attractions. The hotel is nice, peaceful, clean and the swimming pool at the roof top is lovely with a beautiful view.
Review 33:Cigarette smoking by the pool (it should be a designated smoking area) and quite annoying continuous log on to wi-fi.
Review 34:Kitchen, Restaurant and the whole team, especially maitre d'hotel, Mr. Luigi. Interior design and perfect location of the hotel. Nice swimming pool on the roof.
Review 35:WiFi was spotty at times
Review 36:It was a perfect stay. From the staff to the amenities and location, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better hotel in Sorrento.
Review 37:The service, location and facilities were amazing! The rooftop pool and views were breathtaking!! Great rooftop restaurant and bar. I would highly recommend this beautiful hotel!
Review 38:I'm gluten free and the restaurant staff were super helpful and remembered at breakfast from the night before and offered extra options. Hotel was just lovely.
Review 39:Beautiful hotel, rooftop pool overlooking Vesuvius and the coast. Couldn't be a more beautiful or a more convenient location. This hotel made our vacation. Could not have asked for more. food was excellent also. Staff attentive. Room with garden view was so comfortable. Perfect!!
Review 40:The pool area is breathtaking as is the entrance into the lobby area. From top to bottom, this place shows class and treats people from all different countries with great respect. I also have to mention how phenomenal the breakfast spread was!
Review 41:The room could have been cooler- that was truly our only complaint!
Review 42:The staff was very nice and helpful, the pool with an exquisite ocean view was beyond wonderful, and the welcome cocktail and daily breakfast were both great touches. The location was also perfect- easy access to everything we wanted to see!
Review 43:Nothing!!
Review 44:Loved the location, it was perfect, had an ocean facing room, hotel was spotless, Italian decor in the hotel was beautiful, surrounded by orange and lemon trees, staff were amazing, centrally located next to shops and restaurants.
Review 45:All the staff are exceptional. Nothing we asked for was too hard. Giovanni and Imma were outstanding with their help. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
Review 46:Poor quality towels, no evening turn down service, some noise from the ceramic floors throughout.
Review 47:Large deluxe room, nice balcony, great breakfast, intimate lunch on the roof, good food, helpful and friendly staff, good pool.
Review 48:No gym facilities of any kind; no ironing facilities in the room (they have one iron in the hotel you can go and use), no tea or coffee in the room and the mattresses are rock hard - clearly very old. No sea access
Review 49:Beautifully maintained in a very traditional Italian style. Very clean, pretty good location. Good food and service too
Review 50:Heard a bit of noise above us on the first night but did not experience any further disturbance the following two nights.
Review 51:The hotel itself is beautiful with lovely garden, roof terrace and pool and balcony in the room. The staff are friendly and helpful especially Imma on front desk. Breakfast was a real treat with a fantastic spread. Had room service for dinner one night and lunch once and the food was really good.
Review 52:The only downside was a slightly expensive G&T but in this hotel you can't complain!
Review 53:The breakfast was extremely good - huge variety with attentive staff. The pool was also lovely and relaxing, with a member of staff on hand to give out towels and help move sunbeds etc. We often dined at the restaurant on the roof which had impeccable food and again excellent staff. The location was super, minutes from the beach / marina / town / train station. We will be back!
Review 54:The location is ideal for visiting Sorrento The hotel is beautiful The rooftop pool and sunbathing area and bar are excellent with ample large comfortable sun beds
Review 55:The not so good A lack of general information about amenities and daily activities. For example, special deals in the restaurant or happy hour to draw people into the restaurant could have been sent by global email. The housekeeping was very late in the day, bathroom products not always replenished and bed linen unchanged over a four day stay - very poor for a five star hotel. It was odd that there was no complementary water or tea and coffee making facilities included in the rooms, which in fact were very costly. The wifi signal was tediously intermittent at ground level.
Review 56:The good From the moment you enter the main foyer you can see that the brand 'Grand' is not overstated. The hotel looks and feels period Italiano; it is immaculate and beautiful from its many chandeliers to tasteful artefacts. It appears like the hotel has had a complete makeover, but I can't verify this - it's condition is a testament to attention to detail in care and maintenance. The rooms are also comfortable with nice furnishings and alfresco' relieved into ceilings, which are attractively in keeping with the hotel decor. The included breakfast had a reasonable choice of hot and cold food. The hotel's most understated and under-utilised asset are its lush gardens with myriad colours and scented flowers and abundant fruit trees holding thousands, yes thousands of ripe oranges and lemons. I have never seen better tended hotel gardens, not even in Asia, which is a tribute the the gardener who has nurtured and propagated with love. The garden even attracts gorgeous songbirds that follow the gardener around to catch disturbed insects and grubs.
Review 57:Nothing really. There was a wedding on Saturday night and as we were on the third floor the music from the rooftop area was quite loud. However it did not go on late and therefore did not bother us at all but if you wanted an early night it would be a problem. Having to leave to go home was the worst part.
Review 58:Fantastic rooftop pool area with lovely views. We had a lovely large room with a balcony and view of the sea. The bathroom had a bath and separate shower. Breakfast had really good choices. The whole hotel is beautiful and really clean, I would love to go back.
Review 59:On our first day, there was no facility for the roof top terrace bar & restaurant staff to provide a bill nor to take payments. From second day onwards they took cash for drinks. Better for peace of mind to see a final bill each time and to have option to pay as you go. Wifi was poor in one inside room.
Review 60:We were a group of 10, family and friends, on our first time in Sorrento. We stayed for 4 nights to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday and our son's engagement. Fantastic views across the Bay of Naples. Staff throughout the hotel were absolutely excellent, friendly and could not do enough to make your stay more comfortable and enjoyable. Rooms were spot less. Breakfast, roof top terrace and pool were excellent. Had a great time on several nights on the roof top terrace, Saxophonist was brilliant!
Review 61:Great breakfast! We also loved going up to the rooftop for appetizers and drinks at sunset...what a beautiful view. Great location and entrails located.
Review 62:First class, charming hotel. Spotlessly clean room, wonderful breakfast. Rooftop pool and lounge with views of Mt Vesuvius. Easy walk to the port for day tripping around the Amalfi coast.
Review 63:The wifi wasn't as strong as it could have been, but it was perfectly workable for a vacation connection when we needed it.
Review 64:We traveled as 3 adults and five children under 12, and stayed here for four nights. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and fun. Our rooms were on a private hallway which enabled the children to move from room to room without issue. The rooms were very spacious and beautiful. The breakfast was extensive, satisfying even our most picky eaters. When a medical emergency required a quick trip to the hospital, the staff had a car waiting, a first aid kit ready, and plenty of well wishes upon our return. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!
Review 65:our room 101 was occasionally noisy in that we could hear the music from the bar in the evening, footsteps early in the morning and flushing water in the wall. Otherwise beautiful.
Review 66:everything about the hotel, perfect location
Review 67:Nothing
Review 68:The room was spacious with a balcony overlooking the garden. Spotlessly clean. Breakfast was included and staff were wonderful. Thank you to Luigi for his recommendations for outings.
Review 69:Everything was perfect! The hotel facilities are classy and elegant. The staff is professional and friendly. The location is close to the sea and the heart of Sorrento! We absolutely loved our stay and will come back again!
Review 70:15 euros a day for parking? OK, it´s a garage and someone will park and fetch your car every time...but still. 15 euros?
Review 71:The location and the friendly staff were excellent. An incredible experience. A stay that you will cherish for the rest of your life.
Review 72:Nothing to do with hotel!!! I did not enjoy the theft of my wallet and contents at Naples railway station
Review 73:Everything! Staff sympathetic and helpful with our personal difficulty during our stay
Review 74:This hotel was our favorite in Italy. When we arrived we were given a free room upgrade. Our room was beautiful, we had a balcony that overlooked the lemon tree garden (which at night is lit by lights). The breakfast spread they have in the morning is delicious and had the most variety of any other we had in Italy, they even have omelets made to order. We had a delicious dinner in their dining room, where Carmine helped us pick the best of everything from wine to dessert, it was divine. Overall, from the people who work there to the food, to the rooms, everything was perfect. When we go back this is where we will stay.
Review 75:We could not get WiFi in our room. The bed was hard.
Review 76:The location was great we could walked everywhere. The hotel was very clean and beautiful. The breakfast that was included was amazing. The front desk stall was very helpful and knowledge.
Review 77:A small annoyance was they recommended their own restaurant as a dinner spot
Review 78:We loved everything about this hotel, the staff were very helpful, rooms were great & the food exceptional. Also, the location was very convenient.
Review 79:Rooms need a major referb, noise transfer between rooms, you can hear everything as if there were no walls between the rooms.
Review 80:The view from the hotel room and the breakfast dining area, Free Car Park was also very convenient as we had a rental on this trip.
Review 81:Wifi strength was pretty spotty in our room, but it was free.
Review 82:Really enjoyed the location and friendliness of the staff at this hotel. They were very welcoming in answering our questions and helped make our stay in Sorrento very pleasant.
Review 83:Unfortunately the wifi was very poor but there was a computer room where you could access the internet. Also the swimming pool and rooftop restaurant was closed when we went, but it's just a good excuse to go back again in the summer!
Review 84:We stayed here for my cousins 30th birthday trip to Sorrento and it was amazing. The staff were very helpful and the bar, restaurant and outdoor spaces were beautiful. We had a lovely view from a room and there was lots of options at breakfast including made to order pancakes and omlettes
Review 85:the decor of the hotel was truly Italian. We felt that we were in a private villa. The grounds were magnificent, endless greenery and lemon trees. Exactly how we remembered Sorrento.
Review 86:Temp in room was too warm. Hotel had officially switched to winter heating & was centrally controlled. Shwr was V small for such a large bathroom. These were minor things tho and easily forgiven in such a pleasant environment.
Review 87:Hotel had 'wow' factor! First impressions supported by great staff, clean rooms and a great view. Breakfast was generous and varied. We there in autumn so sky bar & pool closed but roof terrace still lovely to enjoy. No crowds at this time of year. Very pretty gardens.
Review 88:The hotel was excellent in all aspects. Centrally located in Sorrento, beautiful room, high quality restaurant, very helpful staff and reasonable rate. We stayed there for three days and took tours of the Amalfi Coast and of Capri, arranged for us by the hotel staff. Overall an excellent experience and highly recommended.
Review 89:Superb accomodation situated close to the cobbled street of old town Sorrento. The hotel delivered against all our expectations from the well apointed balcony room with view of the lemon tree terrace to the great meals in the dinning room. Many good restaurants close by to cover all tastes. All the hotel staff were excellent and catered for all our needs including my wife's gluten free diet. As we visited in November roof top pool and bar were closed but this did not spoil the enjoyment.
Review 90:They turned the air conditioners off at end of October. Humidity was 88% and temp 70. Give guest the choice to use A/C.
Review 91:Excellent room and deck. Breakfast fabulous!
Review 92:The reception manager is not-pleasant guy with limited public relations skills. Reservation confirmation indicated that car parking is 15euro/day with no limitations to car model. Since we had a van they charged us 35euro! Room bathrooms smelled of sewerage all day. Our complaints were dismissed as "u r the first to complain about this". The hotel offered either much smaller and worse located replacement rooms OR perfume spraying. Poor WiFi reception in rooms and constantly disconnecting in all other hotel areas. Air-conditioner noisy and un-human-friendly - either freezing or non-ventilating at all. In general, the hotel seems new but its maintenance is not 5 stars.
Review 93:Rooms on the 1st flr spacious (but when balcony door is left open, morning traffic noise will awake u). Breakfast is 'very good' - not more. Location relative to main city activities is 'very good' but the bay view is blocked except from roof terrace. Most personnel is pleasant and competent.
Review 94:The staff were super helpful and charming. The atmosphere is very relaxed. The beds are very comfortable. Sitting on the roof terrace watching the sun set over the sea was a perfect way to end the day.
Review 95:Wifi was mainly good but sometimes intermittent but this is a very minor issue.
Review 96:We came here on our honeymoon and it really was a great hotel to stay at. Central location to all the action, staff were great and the cleanliness was exceptional.
Review 97:The room was beautiful and immaculate. The grounds were exquisite. We had only booked one night as a side trip from our stay in Rome but ended up staying a second night as the experience was so lovely. Cannot say enough about the quality of the hotel and the excellent staff.
Review 98:Bloodstained towels in room - nothing done about this by hotel staff beyond 'oh, I should tell the manager' Worse - the hotel called us up two days before our stay and tried to move us to a nearby, lesser quality hotel for the same price! (Despite us booking three months earlier!) They lied to us, telling us there were no rooms available when there were rooms still available to book (our theory is they were after higher rates - we got a good deal by booking early). This took THREE HOURS to sort out on the phone and ruined our stay elsewhere in the country, completely disrupted our plans. Merely trying to get them to stand by our booking was like pulling teeth and there wasn't the barest hint of an apology! (Also they tried to move us without Booking.com's knowledge - pretty shady!) AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Review 99:The tiling in the room was beautiful, and the location was very central to Sorrento. Sorrento itself was lovely.
Review 100:Loved the views from the rooftop pool out over the Mediterranean . Staff were friendly and very helpful. Fantastic position in historical area and woul definitely return.
Review 101:We felt the beds were a little hard. Personally I wouldn't take young children there.
Review 102:My Friend and our two twenty something daughters, took a last minute vacation to Sorrento, Italy. We chose the Grand Hotel La Favorita for its excellent price (we got a deal) and central location. Once we had arrived we discovered this central Sorrento hotel was exactly as described on-line. The rooms are clean, spacious, cool (air conditioned) with an excellent bathroom (twin room has twin sinks) we had a sunny terrace with a table, two chairs and two sun loungers, everything in impeccable Italian taste. Breakfast was superb, there was something for everyone's taste. The pool on the roof with a panoramic view of The Bay of Naples and Vesuvius is a perfect place to end the day relaxing after hectic sightseeing, along with cocktails in the roof bar as the sun goes down. I would recommend this hotel to all.
Review 103:Perfect location for the beach and town centre. Beautiful building. Effortless Italian style. All the staff were professional, polite, friendly, helpful, attentive, proud of their hotel, worked as a team and were happy in their positions. We had a fabulous time and cannot wait to get back!
Review 104:Wifi limitation of 500 MByte per week can be a problem, but .....
Review 105:Extremely good location. Very close to the beach boulevard with good bars, restaurant and to the other side, very close to Plaza del Duque which is a high level shopping centre. Pool , restaurant, breakfast, staff in the hotel are marvellous as well.
Review 106:Breakfast although plentiful was not not good quality, they had spam bacon! Rooms weren't cleaned properly. Product wasn't replaced in the bathroom. Internet connection was patchy.
Review 107:Roof top pool Location
Review 108:Everything about the hotel was great. The staff were extremely helpful and the whole place was a relaxed and lovely place to stay. We only had one night there in transit between holiday apartments, but it was a really relaxing comfortable night.
Review 109:That we could not stay longer!
Review 110:The hotel and rooms were beautiful and we'll appointed. The roof top pool and bar were spectacular. The staff were friendly, very helpful and exceeded our needs, particularly at the front desk.
Review 111:My cousin & I wanted to revisit the Amalfitana but couldn't find a Positano hotel with a pool that was not booked out. We won the jackpot with this one... everything was perfect. The pool, the rooms, the staff, the food, not to mention the cocktails on the terrazzo. Would highly recommend a visit!
Review 112:This is a superb hotel but no carpets and it is very loud. Had no issues the noice but only because I had to use ear plugs.
Review 113:Great hotel, location and fantastic rootop bar and pool
Review 114:Breakfast was adequate. would have liked a little more choice/options.
Review 115:Decor, Quality of finish throughout the hotel and in the roomst, friendliness of staff, roof top bar and terrace location,
Review 116:Although cheaper than other hotels of this caliber in the area, the area is still overpriced, such as paying for parking for day of your car, something that should be included as part of the service.
Review 117:Within walking distance to the center of Sorrento and harbor. Hotel is well done and complimented with plenty of garden space - especially for the restaurant and bar area, surrounded by plenty of lemon trees. Breakfast is well stocked and presented to satisfy all needs, the external little cooking area, which a cook prepares while you wait is a very nice touch! Rooftop pool is well kept and gives a nice view! All the grounds are kept very clean and staff are impeccable!
Review 118:We loved everything
Review 119:This hotel is absolutely amazing! It is very new, only 4 years old, and fabulously maintained. The staff was warm, friendly and helpful when we needed assistance. Breakfast was excellent with an omelet station and homemade jams included. The outdoor terrace on the second level is stunning with beautiful lemon and orange trees growing and all kinds of other gorgeous plants. Look for the orange and lemon tree that they fused together so it grows both types of fruit, pretty amazing. Also, visit the owners restaurant of the same name "La Favorita" it was one of our best and favorite meals on our one week Italy trip.
Review 120:Some items on the dinner menu were disappointing.
Review 121:The hotel was very well situated in Sorrento. Staff and facilities were excellent. Breakfast buffet fantastic.
Review 122:its a real 4+ star hotel
Review 123:perfect location, quiet, central and beautiful garden, nice building
Review 124:Nothing not to like
Review 125:Highly recommend high quality and superb through out our stay 10 out of 10
