Reviews for Albergaria Margarida Da Praca

Review 1:Everything is fine but I think breakfast at 7 euros per head is expensive in Portugal. We had it at local bakery for the same price for the 3 of us.

Review 2:Stylish and cosy room painted in bright colors. Big enough for three. Good shower and heating. Friendly staff who allowed a late checkout because of the race we took part in.

Review 3:The staff in this family-run hotel are exceptionally friendly and helpful. They leant us a sun-shade for the beach, and made us a cup of tea when we came back mid-afternoon when they were not supposed to be open. Their lunch was exceptional for quality and value.

Review 4:The smell of cleaning products was too intense in the room. The location is noisy for sleeping.

Review 5:The mattress was extremely comfortable. The room and overall decoration was very pretty. The personnel were extremely friendly.

Review 6:The bed was very, very uncomfortable and very noisy - every time we turned over it creaked and it felt like the base was going to break.

Review 7:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very cute and the breakfast was nice although limited to cold items. The room we had was quiet but quite small for a double. It is in a very good location for the main area of Viana. The décor is nice throughout the hotel and they have clearly added personal and quirky touches. Good shower. It was very reasonably priced.

Review 8:Decor a little on the tatty side in some bedrooms i.e. bathroom peeling paint. You wouldn't choose this place for the "mod cons" or for a luxury experience but more for the general relaxed and friendly ambiance.

Review 9:Super friendly/helpful staff, amazing breakfasts with personal touch, very hospitable in general.Nice chill out area on the roof terrace with great views over the river, Quirky decor in the reception/dining room.

Review 10:Reception provides you with a piece of paper with a daily code to get into your room after hours. May want to photograph in case you lose it. Regret not having the breakfast :)

Review 11:It's a real bonus if you can get a room with a river view. The rooms are clean and have a bit of an old world character with a nice colour palate. If you can't get a room with a view the rooftop access is great.

Review 12:Very nice and clean place. So near to the river. Really great room. Very good place to stay in Viana do Castello. Unfortunately we had problems with WiFi, they had some technical problem, so WiFi were only available on ground floor. Besides this, it's very good place. Staff were helpfull and perfectly spoke English.

Review 13:Margarita, the receptionist, was so sweet and helpful. It was definitely worth paying the E10 extra for the top floor Bounilla Room. Breakfast was a delicious spread. Loved the unusual, colorful decor all about.

Review 14:Nice decor. Good healthy breakfast. Reception closes by 10:00 pm. But they were carefull enough to call us and provide instruction on how to checkin after hours. Everything went very well.

Review 15:The walls seem to be a bit thin, since the gentleman next door started a phone conversation (6 o'clock in the morning) using the speaker of the phone and I could even hear the lady with whom he was talking.

Review 16:Almost everything was perfect! Cosy room and hotel, friendly staff, very nice breakfast.

Review 17:General cleanliness was good but some stains on carpet and bed linen. No TV facility in lounge on 3rd floor.

Review 18:Friendly/helpful staff. Terrace area on 3rd floor. Plenty of fresh, clean towels and supply of toiletries.

Review 19:Very kind and helpful staff; warm atmosphere; colourful interior - stylistically confident; beautiful view to the river; located right in the center of viana; excellent breakfast and restaurant with homemade food. One can really feel at home here!

Review 20:Close to everthing. Nice place to stay in.

Review 42:Wi-fi poor in room

Review 43:Good value for money and homely

Review 44:Didn't realise breakfast was available and went out to find it.

Review 45:Staff were very helpful. Garage for motorbikes under the Hotel

Review 46:Very cute place. Right on the water. At the edge of the historic center, easy access to everything.

Review 47:Rooms could benefit from a little updating/redecorating, especially the bathrooms. Would like tea/coffee making facilities in room.

Review 48:Lovely breakfast, friendly, informative and helpful staff. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Perfect location in centre of town.

Review 49:Nothing!

Review 50:most comfortable bed I had in Portugal. room was small but adorable staff was so friendly and fun location can't be beat but be careful, you will drive by it 4 times because the sign says hotel restaurante in big vertical letters but Margarida in teeny tiny letters you can't read from the street. Just know it is about half a block to the north of Hotel Jardim.

Review 51:the bath room could be repainted...easy maintenance and that would give the hotel/room an even better impression

Review 52:friendly staff, very central and well located, nicely decorated rooms

Review 53:Would have been great if the more casual Italian restaurant had been open in the evening

Review 54:A wonderful experience to stay in this beautiful old palace. It was comfortable and relaxing and enjoyed the old world charm. Staff were attentive and looked after us very well

Review 55:A lovely hotel with bright colours and an elevator. Close to the river and the main street of Viana. Hotel is at a roundabout, so a little traffic. Staff Spoke very well english and were friendly. The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the train station.

Review 56:I'm very into small boutique hotels where good taste and attention to details matters and this is what Albergaria Margarida Da Praca exactly is....loved the smell of it,the special names of fruit and flowers given to the rooms...and the home made breakfast!!!

Review 57:The internet didn't work the first day of our stay, but it got fixed.

Review 58:Really nice hotel, beautiful decorated and nice helpful staff. The breakfast was amacing - dont miss out on that!

Review 59:A lovely hotel with a great location. The rooms are very comfortable with good quality sheets and towels. Decor throughout the hotel is great. Very friendly and helpfully staff. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go.

Review 60:The design is superb! The location is excelent, in the heart of the city, super friendly staff, gorgeous riverside view, marvelous breaskfast with homemade food! Friendly price! The best choice to stay in Viana do Castelo.

Review 61:cold room even with small heater, breadcrumbs on the floor, lock of the room was messy, you can hear all your neighbours, bad value for money,

Review 62:the city, staff is very nice,

Review 63:The shower in the bathroom was kid of old and too narrow.

Review 64:Location was perfect and room was comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. A good value for money.

Review 65:Would I recommed your hotel to others? Yes, but I would caution them --check out the room first. My wife chose the room, but I could only shakemy head upon seeing it. Oh, oh, the decorators have taken over, and baddecoras at that. Who paints a relatively small space with dark colours?Makes the space seem only smaller. Secondly, what is the bathroom sink?Very trendy, indeed, but where does one put one's razor and toiletries? In the bidet?. Not very convenient, to say the least. The lighting: dim.The dark walls combined with the dim lights made the place spooky. Oneof your personnel brought us a little extra light for which we thankyou. Finally, no luggage racks. Why? I could go on.

Review 66:1. Personnel were very friendly and helpful. We asked for a few extras, and they appeared on the spot pronto. Thanks.

Review 67:The hotel has terrible service. In our stay there was only one person to attend the reception, check in, check out, preparing breakfast, serving, remove dishes from the tables. Impossible! The cost-benefit analysis is not adequate. Do not return to this hotel.

Review 68:Only the location.

Review 69:The TV didn't work and there wasn't anywhere to hang clothes. The room got very hot at night even though it was a rather cool and wet night. The whole place felt quite cramped, the rooms seemed quite close together.

Review 70:The hotel was reasonable enough for the price paid and the staff were friendly. The rooms were named after flowers, we had a double which was fairly small with a reasonably sized bathroom. The breakfast was reasonable and the location was central within walking distance of the train station.

Review 71:The air conditioning wasn't working so we had to keep the windows openall night - which was extremely noisy with traffic and partying outside. The restaurant was closed for refurbishment, there was no fridge or safein the room, and we were served meat for breakfast despite noting thatwe were vegetarians on booking.com.

Review 72:I thought the location was excellent. The decor in the room was alsovery romantic and the bed was comfortable.

Review 73:Hotel was not very soundproofed and you were able to hear a lot of street noise and noise from other rooms. Our room was also not ready when we arrived (after check in time), which is a bit of a disappointment after taking the train and walking in the rain.

Review 74:Location was great, bed was very comfortable.

Review 75:Was located in fantastic place, very close to the main strip as well as the waterfront and ferrydock. Staff was very helpful. Room was a little too pink for my taste but spacious, nicely furnished and fairly soundproof. There is internet on a laptop in the checkin area. Did not have any food at their restaurant so cannot comment on that aspect. Overall, very good value place.

Review 76:The hotel has extra charm and touches that make it much more individualthan others. It has a nice terrace with views of the harbour and alounge The staff are extra helpful.

Review 77:Again for the price and the charm we have no complaint. Unless you are familiar with the area call first to get clear directions.

Review 78:Finding this charming boutique hotel was the only problem. Once we got there we were warmly welcomed. The hotel owner gave us great tips about the area. Breakfast was very good. The hotel is playfully colored and has attention to detail that is very inviting and restful. We felt the value was excellent. There is easy parking in a city garage across the street.

Review 79:We stayed in a very bright pink room which was sparsely furnished andhad a very small television mounted high up in the corner of the room. The bathroom was just adequate- no hairdryer. I felt as if we werestaying in a youth hostel. We also had trouble finding the hotel becausethe signage isn't visible from the road.

Review 80:Location and friendly staff

Review 81:It is on a main road which could be a problem for some visitors although it is not too busy and we couldn't really hear much traffic.

Review 82:Lovely brightly coloured boutique hotel with excellent friendly staff and amazing food and homemade biscuits. Rooms were cleans and bright and good value for money. Location is easy walking distance to the town and water front and the local beach can easily be reached by boat (5 minutes away).

Review 83:Everything was clean, but i don't like that kinda showers: pure pinted concrete under my feet.

Review 84:Clean room, full-white bed-sheets! The location is awesome! We had a really great time there. :) It's next to the riverbank, main road, but it wasn't noisy at all!

Review 85:Old TV No fridge No hairdresser

Review 86:Decoration Comfy bed

Review 87:Had to go outside the bedroom to get wi-fi. Tatty bathroom. Couldn't pull curtains back.

Review 88:Friendly staff, good breakfast.

Review 89:Our room was a bit noisy.

Review 90:Staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was really excellent.

Review 91:We had one of the green rooms and it was very dark and a little noisy

Review 92:central position of the hotel, nice staff

Review 93:basic bedroom

Review 94:friendly staff

Review 95:Bathrooms looking a bit tired.

Review 96:Location. Colour scheme. Very friendly staff. Different decor/layout.

Review 97:Small toilet

Review 98:Location at Center of Viana do Castelo Nice room and service

Review 99:Aircon did not work

Review 100:Nice design, nice staff, nice breakfast, great location for both the beach and the city
