Reviews for Sokcho Esher House Pension

Review 1:Nothing. Was absolutely perfect.

Review 2:The hostess was wonderfully kind and extremely helpful. Gave a list of great restaurants and went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable. The room and building were very clean, spacious and very comfortable. Location was perfect, 5 mins from the beach and about 10 min walk to restaurants.

Review 3:Toilet is big but with no acilities to put your towel etc. Toilet bowl is by the shower place with no curtain so each time you have to dry it up after bath.

Review 4:Hana looks after us who is most helpful and friendly. Speaks very good English.

Review 5:Only small gripes - Was on the pricier side - Chanting music that comes on with the toilet light (and cannot be selectively turned off). This is weird every time someone uses the toilet. - No proper heating in cold weather (needs to be centrally adjusted)

Review 6:- Hana was very helpful - Room was huge - Breakfast brought to room

Review 7:They sprayed something on the blanket and it was bit strong scent

Review 8:The owner was so kind and friendly. Excellent location and clean place. The breakfast was so delicious! We would love to go back and spend time there. Thank you!

Review 9:The host, Hana, and her family made us feel very special. Very friendly and hospitable people, always ready to give advice on places to visit, restaurants to go to etc. There was a choice of homemade european or korean breakfast delivered to the doorstep in the morning by the host The place is very close to the sandy beach, and within short walk to the excellent coffee cafe and to the famous fish market. It is easy to reach from the bus station, and Hana sent us detailed instructions with the address in korean to show to the driver. Really enjoyed our stay there!

Review 10:It is better to visit this part of Korea if you're travelling with others. This is because it's a quite area and there isn't much for a solo explorer.

Review 11:Good view of the sunrise over the sea.

Review 12:very friendly & helpful staff/owner and great location (proximity to the ocean (couple of minutes by foot)plus view of the ocean from balcony). Quiet location (until they'll start construction at the big hotel planned across the street sometime during the next couple of years) because it is a little south of the busy city center. Only about 15 minutes walking distance across a little hill to the next little fishing town with lots of traditional fresh fish restaurants. Only about 10 min. walk up the hill to main road where the bus to Seroksan stops. All in all very recommendable, though it seems a bit pricey with about 80$ for 2 people. The breakfast is fine (1piece of toast, jam,1 egg & a little fruit), but the amount will have you hungry again quickly.

Review 13:I love my host, Hana who is very warm and ensured that I was well taken care of. Location wise, the pension is located near the beach and within walkable distance to other cafes and places to eat:))

Review 14:The owner's daughter was very polite and care about the guests, from before your arrival and after you left. She liaised with me before my arrival and provided careful direction to the hotel. She also helped me set the GPS, which was in Korean, of the car to my next stop. The breakfast, western style was really great, delicious and sufficient to fill my stomach. Everything was excellent here. You can also watch the sunrise within 2 minutes walk to the beach. Will stay again in my next stay here.

Review 15:The owner (Hana & Sister) are very kind and helpful. Excellent service!! The location is good closed to Seorak San & Sokcho Beach. I'm enjoy the lent bike service:)) Really made our stay comfortable and memorable. And the breakfast great too

Review 16:Nothing.

Review 17:Close to Seoraksan National Park and Sokcho Beach. Close to places to eat. Away from touristy area. Wonderful hostess. Really made our stay comfortable and memorable. Best place to stay in the area!

Review 18:Beds were firm, but just because we weren't accustomed to it, not a deal breaker at all

Review 19:Close to Seoraksan Natl Park, Hana's directions were really easy to follow. (She was extremely helpful and friendly in every way) Short walk to the fish market with restaurants and convenience stores. We used the kitchen constantly and it's very well set up. We were in one of the top floor rooms-awesome. Gorgeous views and nice space. Jacuzzi tub was a plus. Would go back in a heartbeat. Beach sunsets were a block away. Breakfast was great too

Review 20:Garbage segregation is required to be done by guests. WiFi was slow Need more breakfast options Need gas-based cooking facility

Review 21:Room ambiance was great and cozy. Room condition was exactly as shown in the photographs Location was great. Staff was extremely nice, cooperative and paid the greatest attention to the smallest requests.

Review 22:The owner Hana is so kind and had a unique friendly and helping attitude. Long before (6 months!) our arrival she had mailed us verry usefull tourist information about Sokcho. She was very helpful with everything. The room (for four) was nice and had a balcony with nice view at the town and the Sea. Hana made so nice delicious korean breakfast every morning. We even lent bikes for free to go to town. Directly on the beach is there a little restaurant who serves fresh fish. The beach wan't crowdy at all, as we expected in middle of July. It was easy to get to Sokcho by bus from Seoul - and easy to get to Busan from Sokcho also by bus. Be aware that there also in Sokcho is two different buss stations. We hope we someday can get back.

Review 23:The location is excellent as it is right across the street from a great beach. Food and other activities, including Seoraksan are a short and cheap taxi ride away. Hana and her family were nothing short of amazing. The service was impeccable. They made us breakfast each morning and were there to greet us every time we got off the elevator to make sure we were comfortable. There was a small kitchen in the room as well as a dining table, which added to the comfort value. I would definitely recommend Esher House to anyone staying in Sokcho. The service and location are definitely worth the cost.

Review 24:The view was fantastic and the staff was so nice like a family. We only stay two nights but when we needed any help the staff was here to help us. We had a great time in this place. And the room was so big. Thanks for everything and see you!

Review 54:Our Host was incredible. The top floor suite was incredible. It was the highlight of our honeymoon!

Review 55:Hana is such a great host who's very thoughtful and sweet, speaks also perfect English (which's not very common in Korea :)). The room is huge, face the Sokcho beach,we had a great time in Sokcho, and will recommend our friends to stay here.

Review 56:Esher House Pension: An enjoyable experience when visiting Sochko and Seoraksan Mountain We had a very good experience in Esher House Pension, very well located in front of the beach, at 5 mn walking from the bus stop to the centre of the town, at 5 mn by taxi from the Bus Station,.. A good place to enjoy both the sea side with the harbour and fish restaurants and the wonderful Seoraksan Mountain. The hotel is new, rooms are very spatious, clean, and you can even cook in the room. Hana is a very kind, helpfull and careful hostess.

Review 57:The balcony is adjoining the next room - so if you have noisy neighbours (like we did), then you can get disturbed if they are too loud.

Review 58:Excellent location, just off the beach with sea facing rooms. Very clean and the owner Hana is extremely helpful and speaks good English (very rare in this area). Wifi is fast. Would recommend.

Review 59:We enjoyed very much our stay in Esher pension. All is perfect. Hana the owner, is very welcoming, the room very quiet is very large and confortable, we have a terrasse in front of the sea. The beach is 50 meters from the pension . the restaurtants are very near . A good place to visit the area in bus (the bus stop is 5mn walking)

Review 60:Toilet glass doors were very heavy, making it rather difficult to get out after a shower.

Review 61:Great spacious apartment with great view. Hana, the owner, was very helpful too. Wish we spent more days there.

Review 62:This is a very nice hotel. Very comfortable and clean. Hana is a very warmth host who speaks good English and recommends places to eat and visit. Booked a family room on the 6th level that comes with a sea view and jacuzzi overlooking the sea. There are 3 room like this in this hotel. Nice experience that we won't forget. Highly recommended.

Review 63:It's a bit far from everything, if that bothers you. For me, it was a bonus.

Review 64:Hana, the manager? owner? of Esher House was an absolute dear. She really seemed to care that I was having a good time, and even gave me a map and guidebook for Sokcho. Also, the free breakfast was delicious~

Review 65:I made the reservation with great expectation from the photos shown on the booking.com site. But we were very much disappointed with the room with neither a nice deck nor the ocean view. 150$ was way too expensive for the room.

Review 66:Hana was very kind and considerate. She recommended a nice and reasonable place to eat.

Review 67:The room I stayed a little bit creepy because of the dark wooden furniture and curtains. The bus stop is way too far. L

Review 68:I sincerely have to give credit to Hana, the pension house owner for her excellent services. 25 of us arrived very late and she patiently assist all of us into each rooms we booked. She even wrote down the newly made room number for us because none of us can read the room tag in korean. Her breakfast was superb. She even allow my nephew to stay in the room til late because he was sick. Her father ferries my niece and sister-in-law to a supermarket to buy food. Excellent family. Excellent services. The room was big and all room has different design with kitchenette.

Review 69:Some taxi drivers did not no how to go there.

Review 70:The pension house owner Hana was very friendly and helpful and she spoke good English. The room was big, comfortable and exactly what the photos have shown. Hana even cooks our breakfasts. We are very happy with our stay and highly recommend to anyone going to Sokcho.

Review 71:Nothing. This is not a negative point, but it seems taxi drivers don't know the pension's location. Remember to print out the address in korean so that you want have problems!

Review 72:The owner, Hana, is very kind and she also speaks good english. We arrived in Sokcho at late night and she even cooked noodles for us. We stayed only one night and we didn't have the time to enjoy the sea and the beach close by. The location is very quite, 10 min by walk to the express bus terminal. If you plan to hike in Seoraksan national park, the bus number 7 is stopping 5 minutes by walk from the pension and drives you directly (in 15-20 minutes) to the entrance of the park for 1200 won.

Review 73:The pension owner is very nice and helpful. Besides of the well-equipped facilities, the pension also provided wonderful breakfast. Many restaurants and a large supermarket "emart" nearby. Will definitely stay at this pension again next time when we visit Sokcho.

Review 79:The owner, Hana, was extremely friendly and helpful. She even upgraded our room to a deluxe one without additional charge. Apartment was well appointed and had a great view of the east sea.

Review 80:The location was great and the staff was excellent. On arrival my wifewanted to have a particular fish dish to eat. Instead of telling uswhere to go, one of the staff took us to a restaurant that had the dish.Yes, the fish was excellent!

Review 81:A little removed from town, uncomfortable bed and pillows, noises, and hints of sand in bed and room. Because this is a small hotel, there are not any amenities on site. (But a play yard with minimal equipment is across the street.)

Review 82:Kind pension owner, who gave us an upgraded room. Room had many extras including a personal hot tub (for an extra fee), a projector and pull down screen for watching movies as well as a small flat screen TV by the bed. There was a loft above the queen sized bed where children could sleep. Very close to beach, nice views from balcony, modern and clean kitchen and bath. Breakfast served in room at time you desire. (Set menu - Korean foods).

Review 83:A little inaccessible to the main city area, but if a retreat is what you want, that's good. I didn't like the breakfast - pass on it.

Review 84:I liked that the hosts were really friendly (so are most people in Sokcho). The place was tucked at the end of the beach so there weren't a lot of people, which is a good thing. This is a decent place if you just want to use Sokcho as a base to Mt. Seoraksan or the beach.

Review 85:The pension owner is very kind and helpful. The room is very big and equiped with wonderful facilities. The Pension is located near to the beach and have a beautiful sea view.
