Reviews for Hotel Sorak Park

Review 1:Some rooms have been renovated. Ours had not been. The bathroom was old.

Review 2:The hotel is within the park so it has excellent proximity to the hiking trails, although it is still a drive to the main trail head. Our room had a wonderful view of the mountains. It is also close to a highly rated Italian restaurant, Matsu, which is just under 8 kms down the road toward Sokcho (accessible by car).

Review 3:Staff can't speak English. We asked for a recommendation to have dinner and they couldn't say anything. They were useless. Hotel is old, needs renovation urgently. Carpets are filthy to the extreme, bathroom disgusting, breakfast was cold when served, they couldn't understand I wanted hot milk with my coffee, the small shop selling biscuits and water (which you need for hiking) was always closed, the price was ridiculously expensive. If you can't get a room in Kensington Hotel (which is nearby and was the one I was hoping to go buy fully booked), don't go to Seorak hotel. It is horrendous and they charge like if they were the best hotel in the area. 240000 wons for one night in a triple bedroom.

Review 4:Location

Review 5:I must have misunderstanding about introduction of the room I made reservation . I made reservation For triple room I meant triple room not 3 beds in squeeze room for 3 peoples. The restroom was smallest I ever saw couldn't even close door. Something leaking all the time . My elder mother (90) went restroom at night she slip but luckily didn't hurt. Also was very dirty. I'll not recommend to anybody.

Review 6:The hotel has clearly seen better days and is in need of refurbishment. The pictures on the website did not match up to what we found. There were not enough staff but those that were there were helpful despite lacking any English. Most of the facilities seemed shut, including café, bar and restaurants except for breakfast. The american breakfast is not good value.

Review 7:Location was very good, close to the park but also close to the local village and there was a frequent free bus to the park. Our room was spacious and comfortable, albeit a little tired.

Review 8:Hotel used to be nice but is on the way down and maintenance lacking. Very few quests in hotel. Restaurant only open for breakfast. Area around hotel is like ghost town with two large closed hotels and very limited dining options.Long walk to bus stop.

Review 9:Short city bus ride to to Seoraksan National Park entrance and facilities. All rooms have view of mountains.

Review 10:nothing. perhaps, it is appropriate to say that the décor is very old. we don't really mind since the hotel is clean and comfortable. there is an ancient tube tv in our room. it worked fine though.

Review 11:good location being close to the seoraksan national park if you have a car. there are some shops and a convenience store close by. comfortable and clean room. our room with balcony is facing front. nice view of mountain.

Review 12:Staff is a problem: has a poor English, unpleasant, indifferent and uninterested (in guests needs); staff was smoking in the hotel while its prohibited to its guests and was drunk (a little bit) because they were working at local Korean party in the hotel (and probably its was a reason while breakfast was not at time next morning). The hotel is old and need some renovation; after 7PM there was no place to eat inside the hotel (restaurant was closed at 1PM), there was no place to buy a food. If U wanna coffee before 7AM - U have no chance to find it.

Review 13:Location, view from the room (especially from the 3rd floor and up), quality of breakfast (diversity of menu), sounds of nature, a lot of authentic cuisine in the nearest area

Review 14:No bad situations.

Review 15:Good place, not far from the park and temples, good service. Possibility to visit Sokcho city, Oseak mineral spring SPA, ocean places. Fresh air, pine threes.

Review 16:There was only breakfast and dinner available in hotel but food service available in the park. hotel is old but cheap. hotel is on the hill so it can be difficult for old people.

Review 17:there is bus to park every 20 mins. it takes 10 min by bus. to go to city for dinner will take 20 min by bus.

Review 18:it's in the middle of SeokCho and SeorakSan. It is too far walking from hotel to SeorakSan (around 2km), but it is too near taking a bus. Eerie, very quiet like a ghost town run down hotel

Review 19:Nice scenery from balcony Excellent TV Channels

Review 20:The hotel does not operate its restaurant for dinner and the nearby restarants are closed due to low season, except for one which does not look good. So we had instant cup noodle for dinner, which we bought from a grocery stall near the hotel.Staff can speak little English and is not so friendly. When we asked for vaccum cleaner to suck our vaccum package to compress our clothes, they simply said they did not have vaccum cleaner. They also wanted to charge for bottled water when we asked for 2 more bottles as we actually stayed there 2 nights. Thankfully, the receptionist decided to waive off the 3000 won. The sauna and casinos are closed. It looks like the place is going to be closed down. The two other hotels next to this were closed down. I hope they improved their marketing. Excellent view.

Review 21:We were surprised by the beautiful view of the mountain from our bedroom. Very comfortable bed and spacious room at such reasonable rate. Bus from Sokcho city reaches near the Hotel by special request. Access to the Cable car by the same bus from Sokcho only less than10 minutes away.

Review 22:No restaurant or bar available on premises. "Breakfast included" was not really an option.

Review 23:Convenient location near the park entrance. (15 min walk)

Review 24:Transport facilities not provided such as shuttle service, taxi by hotel & no other option except public transport.

Review 25:Very good view & old design of room, quiet.

Review 26:Didn't like that when we wanted to eat, we had to travel all the way to the mountain or ocean to get it. The nearby restaurants are very poor.

Review 27:Liked that it was so close to the mountain and the ocean wasn't that far away either. Nice middle point between the two. The beds were comfortable and rooms kept a nice temperature without any extra heating or cooling.

Review 28:Restaurants spa casino were closed

Review 29:The view from room was excellent. Its a prime location to visit seorak mountains. It was very peaceful outside hotel.

Review 30:The building is really outdated though. Carpets are stained, the shower curtains looked moldy, the bed was rock hard and springy. It just needs to be refurbished but there is no one staying there during the week on off season. We felt like we were the only ones staying at the hotel.

Review 31:Nice location just outside of park entrance and a seven-eleven convenience store. Some rooms have great mountain views. Staff were very nice.

Review 32:very old hotel. they need some remodeling. but the price will be increased. even very old building, it is O.K.

Review 33:satisfied in compared with price. very calm ( may not so good for young poeple) locaton is also good for climbing Mt.

Review 34:The faculties were dated. It needs investment and renovation. It had definitely seen better days

Review 35:The view and location was amazing. It felt like the shining. And I liked that. The property was nice and I was able to see countless stars in Korea up the hill a bit

Review 36:Too old hotel. Need to be renovated almost everything.

Review 37:Location.

Review 38:carpet in the room

Review 39:good view

Review 40:Very old rooms, not very clean. Copy of American mountain resort style - inappropriate for Korea.

Review 41:Excellent location

Review 42:High slope way to the hotel entrance

Review 43:Upgraded room to Sweet room

Review 44:Restaurant, casino, sauna, cafe, souvenir store didn't work. Front desk guy couldn't speak english at all

Review 45:Good location. Great view.

Review 46:hotel was old and dirty. we found alot of hair from previous guest in the bath and in the room

Review 47:staff was helpful and friendly

Review 48:Easy to find, comfortable.

Review 49:The bed is v comfortable.Room is big.The bus stop is just nearby, can go to Sorak National park or go down to Sokcho for meal easily.Value for money.

Review 50:Hotel is old. Stain on the carpet.

Review 51:Walk 20mins to park entrance. bus 40 mins to city. Not very good location.

Review 52:Good view.

Review 53:this hotel must have been very good 20 years ago .But it is time to deep overhaul .

Review 54:the location

Review 55:Hotel needs a renovation badly. Very expensive rates for such a run down hotel.

Review 56:It's quite old and there some spots on the carpet, price is quite expensive

Review 57:Nice location, view, room is clean

Review 58:Hotel needs renovation in general

Review 59:Helpful desk front...tried their best. Beautiful view at the terrace

Review 60:Breakfast

Review 61:price (about 150,000won(150dollars) a day, is too high) television (is too small) air conditioner (is too small to cool off the triple room)

Review 62:wifi

Review 63:The hotel is dated and in need of refurbishment. Restaurants were closed and ATM out of order. Breakfast very expensive so we didnt try. Main worry was electrical safety. Sockets sometimes didnt work and my daughter was buzzing to the touch when listening with earphones to phone when plugged in to socket!

Review 64:Good location near local shops and park entrance. Big rooms.

Review 65:A lot of the advertised hotel facilities (e.g. laundry, sauna) were unavailable, perhaps due to our visit being a bit off-season.

Review 66:A charming, though perhaps slightly dated establishment. Very helpful staff, most could be communicated with in English, and the view of the mountains from our top-floor balcony was beautiful. Frequent bus connections to the national park from right in front of the hotel.

Review 67:The hotel is very old and a little tired and worn. Most of the hotelamenities were closed, no bar, no coffee shop, the restaurant was onlyopen for breakfast. No in room internet, Wi-Fi only on the first floor.

Review 68:The location was close to Sorak National Park, Our rooms had anice balcony,

Review 69:Beds were very hard Rooms need refurbishing Hotel seemed old and run down Off season, most services were closed

Review 70:Close proximity to park Excellent view Reasonable price

Review 71:more clean in bath room

Review 72:not so much expected cuz I had already read about this hotel. It is very old hotel But I am satisfied with this hotel in compared with the price, I will visit it again later.

Review 73:This is a ghost town! Everyone stays on the coast and catches the bus 20mins for $1. Absolutely no where to eat dinner except the 7 11. All the hotels facilities are closed - except the restaurant which is only open during the day.

Review 74:Handy location to the national park. Nice toothbrushes. Spacey room with fab view.

Review 75:Super quiet and seems like no other guests except 10 of us.

Review 76:Staff was very helpful. He suggested places we should visit and converse our request to our driver since the driver does not speak other languages except Korean.

Review 77:Although many facilities are listed on the site for reservation but none is available (No Sauna, No special food menu of seafood, No room service, dirty carpets, Old bathrooms,....)

Review 78:Not much

Review 79:We requested to keep the luggages at hotel after check out. But the hotel staff didn't take care our luggages and just left them in the hotel lobby.

Review 80:It's near Soark Park and convenience

Review 81:Wifi only available in the lobby, one song was played repeatedly for the first two days of our stay, the rooms are in need of serious renovation, not great TV reception (incidental as this was not a major requirement).

Review 82:Staff were very helpful, location for Seoraksan National Park is excellent but you really need a car to see more of the area. We needed to modify our stay and they said that everything would be taken care of by Booking.com.

Review 83:everything was old all restaurants in the hotel were closed the air conditioner was too loud and somehow too strong

Review 84:the shape of the building atmosphere of the foyer view from the balcony

Review 85:Sorry the rooms where really dirty. The first room was so dirty we didget a free upgrade. Airco smells and was really dirty so as the restof the room. The upgrade room was big but also dirty. Lot of spots on the carpet. dirty showers en beds. But not so bad as the first room so we kept this one. No internet in the rooms as written on the website (by cable). Sorry cant advice this hotel.

Review 86:Checking out. We where happy we to changed hotel.

Review 87:the other surrounding abandon hotels made the area feel like a ghost town, as oppose to an isolated & exclusive location. and the locals need to turn of the silly road lights at night, so people could at least enjoy the stars.

Review 88:It was cavernously empty and most of the amenities were closed probably because it was out of season.

Review 89:A large, comfortable room with balcony and amazing views of the mountains which were within walking distance.

Review 90:They need major renovation. Paint is peeling, there was a leak in bathroom floor, flooring need updated.

Review 91:Hotel is very old and poor lighting. Not friendly sales person at convenience store. Unable to communicate in English at all.

Review 92:Everything

Review 93:None

Review 94:nil

Review 95:The hotel is bit old but still very beautiful and luxury. Comfortable bedding and nice view.

Review 96:The hotel and its facilities are outdated by about two decades.
