Reviews for Hotel Royalty Puebla

Review 1:Very, very noisy. Had to request hot water to be turned on in room twice. Telephones in rooms, but no phone service. Internet service spotty and poor connections.

Review 2:Staff nice

Review 3:Noise of the nightclub above us. We stayed in the hotel on two occasions. First time our room was very good but a week later we stayed for one night and the room was tiny with barely room for our bags and ourselves. It should really only have been sold as a single room not a double. The shower flooded the whole bathroom making it very slippy and dangerous.

Review 4:Great location on the Zocalo. Room was clean. We stayed in the hotel on two occasions. The first time our room was great (not so the second time.)

Review 5:Our room location was on the 3rd floor facing the street that had excessive noise. We did not get a good nights rest.

Review 6:Location of hotel across from Zocalo.

Review 7:The local radio station decided to broadcast live from the zocalo to commemorate Constitution Day -- beginning at 5:30 am on Sunday. The night manager was totally ineffectual at handling my complaint about the noise.

Review 8:My balcony room overlooked the zocalo and gave me an excellent view of the holiday activities going on below. The street was generally quiet by midnight, as was the hotel itself. The day manager, who is bi-lingual, was friendly, professional and supportive.

Review 9:The wifi did not work in my room and there was no hairdryer.

Review 10:The breakfast buffet was excellent and I had a room with a small balcony directly overlooking the zocalo (major square).

Review 11:The inside room smelled of sewer gas due to the open drain in the bathroom floor. (Covering the drain with a wet towel solved this problem.) The shower has no shower curtain so the floor of the bathroom becomes wet after each shower. The restaurant confused our order and brought the wrong food and wasn't very happy to change it. (The restaurant uses the scatter system of service where a captain takes the order and whichever waiter is around serves it and takes care of the table: this creates a lack of responsibility and complaints are difficult to correct.) Valet parking only.

Review 12:The location of this hotel is wonderful, right on the zocalo. Some of the employees were very solicitous.

Review 13:our rooms were dingy....had 2 windows but both looked onto airshafts......bathroom sink had no stopper so if you dropped anything it would go straight down the drain.....strong sewer smell.....blocked the shower and sink drains to stop it.

Review 14:Location was right in the center of the action with the beautiful Zocalo across the street.

Review 15:We upgraded to a room with Windows, not what we expected for the price we paid. The room smelled of sewer from the shower vents, beds very uncomfortable, room needed a lot of updating. The were doing construction to the building but we had no warning, very noisy. Breakfast just OK.

Review 16:Good location.

Review 17:"free" breakfast? Minimal choices, crowded tables with outside groups and insufficient staff to attend properly to restaurant clients. Do you like to beg for more watery coffee. Poor quality of food and its presentation.

Review 18:location

Review 19:At night drunks making a lot of noise in the Zocalo, we slept only a couple hours. Other than that was very very good.

Review 20:Menu on weekends is very good, a lot to choose from.

Review 21:The zoccolo is a great draw but remember that with that proximity comes a lot of noise. A gentleman brought us the tv remote but the tv cable didn't work so what was the point?

Review 22:The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and te rooms were very cute but old (as is everything in Puebla). Big pluses- great water pressure and water and ice in the hallway. The rooms are also huge- though we hardly needed three beds for the two of us.

Review 23:slightly noisy but bearable

Review 24:good location especially at 5-6 Jan with all celebrations happening

Review 25:Poor WiFi

Review 26:Location and excellent service

Review 27:Antiquated rooms.

Review 28:Loved the location.

Review 29:Noisy outside.

Review 30:Location

Review 31:Noise in the early morning

Review 32:Staff and location

Review 33:Excellent value. Excellent location.

Review 34:ask ignored.

Review 35:bathroom was fair big, clean.

Review 36:The staff and the location were awesome!!!

Review 37:The beds are not comfortable at all, too hard.

Review 38:I love having access to shops, restaurants, and other places of interest within walking distance

Review 39:The rooms, the service, the food, the location, hospitality and you have everthing you need at a walking distance!

Review 40:No business center if you do not have your own laptop/tablet to use.

Review 41:Located on the Zocalo (main square) with french doors and a small balcony! Beautiful architecture

Review 42:What was there NOT to like. I could not stay longer?

Review 43:Location....location....location, as they say. What could be more lovely than balconies on the zocolo?! I was a bit concerned about noise because my friend and I were booking a weekend..and the Monday was Cinco de Mayo. NO problem whatsoever. I'd stay here once again because I want to be able to walk out my door at anytime and experience Puebla. Oh, one more thing: the Royalty has a terrific breakfast. Great Place and reasonable rates

Review 44:When we checked in around 3pm and were shown to our room, it still hadn't been cleaned and was a real mess, which wasn't the greatest first impression! Thankfully everything after that was perfect :)

Review 45:The outstanding location right in the Zócalo..our room had fantastic views of the square and cathedral. The room was very simple but spacious and had everything we needed. The included breakfast was nice and quite varied, with eggs, sausages, chilaquiles, pancakes, fruit etc. All in all, really good value and ideally located for exploring Puebla: the tourist office is just a few doors down while the cathedral is right across the square.

Review 46:The bed. which was the worse I've ever slept on. It was like a hard box. The indifference of some of the staff was evident. The wifi is intermittent and unpredictable. .

Review 47:Being on the zocalo. The historic style of the hotel. The breakfast which is included. Eating and drinking on the plaza, watching Puebla pass by.

Review 48:Nothing.

Review 49:The location was excellent, right on the zocalo and we had a room with a perfect view. The staff was pleasant, and the breakfast nice too. I would definitely stay here again if and when I return to Puebla.

Review 50:Explained above.

Review 51:The location was terrific but the hotel is in need of renovation. The breafast was excellent but the beds were not very comfortable and the bedspreads were worn. If you want a qiuet room request a back room. We had a junior suite facing the zocolo. It was a beautiful very but very noisy.

Review 52:Nothing I can think of.

Review 53:Great location, right at the Zocalo. Walking distance to markets, crafts, restaurants, and off course the cathedral. Great for taking the tour buses. Wonderful facilities, the hotel restaurant offered a good variety and food was tasty. Loved the fresh fruit. The fellow at the front desk was courteous and very helpful in arranging my shuttle trip back to the Mexico City airport. I would have been lost otherwise. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Review 54:terrible wifi signal, always cutting out, staff rude and unhelpful, terrible service in restaurant

Review 55:spacious rooms, nice view, free bottled water, lots of hot water for showering

Review 56:No AC . some noise from kitchen extractor fans

Review 57:Great location , nice restaurant, great w/end buffet b/fast ! The outside terrace great to Chill out and watch the world go by .

Review 58:Cool weather till arounbd 10am was only problem :-)

Review 59:Beautiful hotel and the view from our suites, worth the extra money from regular room, was breath taking....central square and church. The staff was very professional!! And met our every need, 2nd time going there and will return. We come up from our vacation in Acapulco for a couple days....coolness is ok, we're from Michigan, USA Dean Houghton Lake,MI deanwal @ a o l. co m

Review 60:The balcony door has a gap an inch wide when closed which lets in noise and on one occasion at 5:30 in the morning let in an incredibly foul stench from a cistern truck parked in front that was emptying a septic tank. This lasted for 1/2 hour.

Review 61:Good included breakfast, size of the room, the view (if you stay at the front of the building) is wonderful.

Review 62:The $$$ amount was a lot higher than quoted. If my circumstances weredifferent I would have left because of this and found another hotel offthe central path at a better price. But because I traveled alone, I madethe decision to stay. Puebla made up for this fault

Review 63:Location was great, right in the Zocolo. I have traveled in Mex alot butthis Zocolo was very much alive and active all night long. Do not stayin a room facing the front because cars, horns, music and active youtheverywhere. My suggesting because of the elevator not working stay onthe ground floor.

Review 64:The price of such a good location is a very very noisy room. From 5.30am when the outdoor services start until after midnight. Bring earplugs. Some staff were very indifferent. It wasn't nearly as friendly as places I have stayed before. At times they were quite rude I thought. I couldn't put my finger on it but they seemed an unhappy bunch on the whole, which filters down to customers perhaps. Refurb going on so quite a bit of banging and drilling next to my room during my stay, which was frustrating at times. It is a gorgeous building but in need of some refurb and a clean up so I guess this has to happen sometime.

Review 65:Amazing location overlooking the Zocala right in the heart of town.

Review 66:There are many stairs. There was only one outlet in the room.

Review 67:The location was perfect-right on the zocolo! The staff was very helpful. The value for money can't be beat! Clean, comfortable, safe. I will return.

Review 68:Very noisy at night . The room is a little bit dark and old.

Review 69:Good location at central plaza. Friendly and helpful staff. Fast check -in and check-out.

Review 70:The elevator did not work while we were there. We had to climb threelong flights of stairs several times that day, and had to carry up ourheavy luggage as well, and did not receive any help from the staff withour luggage. One time when we went to use the shower, there was no hotwater for 25 minutes.

Review 71:The room does not have a refrigerator. The elevator was not working (apparently it has been so for quite some time). So, if you are older, ask them if they have fixed the elevator or get a room at the first floor. Finally, the room we got had its windows to the main square so the amount of noise was huge. Car noise started quite early in the morning, then the cathedral's bells (about 8 different sizes) start their calls, each bangs 10 times and then comes the other until each one makes its voice heard. And this cycle repeats about 4 times every 15 minutes. If you have a light sleep, try to get rooms to the back, although when I asked this, I was told that those to the back are smaller. Perhaps the hotel should build an extra protection to the windows to attenuate considerably the incoming noise.

Review 72:The room was spacious and the hotel is well located. Very easy to get a taxi, near to interesting touristic sites. Good places near the hotel to eat, shop and to buy water and soft drinks. The breakfast was good (buffet stile).

Review 73:There was construction in the hotel and it was really, really loud and went on from morning to early evening. If there are loud guests on your floor, you can hear everything. Super noisy.

Review 74:The room was big and spacious. The bathroom was super clean. I believe it was recently remodeled. The breakfast that is included in price is a great deal and way better than the typical Continental breakfast that most hotels include.

Review 75:There was a lot of construction going on in the hotel itself - the elevator wasn't working and there were piles of stuff shoved into a corner - not too esthetically pleasing.

Review 76:They gave us a junior suite for the same price as a double room. The room was spacious and clean, but it was at the front of the hotel and noisy.

Review 77:Price too high for the confort. The elevator was not working we had toclimb 3 flight of stares to our room No air condition. No queen or kingsize beds.

Review 78:Located in the Center next to historical buildings.

Review 79:Sometimes at night is a bit noisy but livable.

Review 80:It is very close to everything in the downtown area. Within walking distance from the centre bus connections, service very good and ladies working in the rooms very thorough as well as a friendly front desk. Understand my broken Spanish quite well Enjoying my stay.

Review 81:I do like everything about Hotel Royalty, the location by the Zocalo of Puebla and it is a so alive Hotel the portal is always a great experience, to eat, have a glass of wine and listen to the music. I do like the staff it is always helpful and friendly and everything I need it is a few steps from the Hotel .

Review 82:The elevator was out-of-order but it was being repaired when we left but madevit difficult to reach our third floor room.

Review 83:The location was perfect for visiting Puebla and making an easy side trip to Cholula. The staff was excellent in responding to special requests and providing travel information.

Review 84:"In room" internet access was more "in the doorway to the room" or in external lounges. TV had limited channels, and very few in English.

Review 85:Location was great, and rooms overlooking the Zokalo are worth it. Staff are friendly, and the hotel bar/restaurant has a nice aspect on the main square.

Review 86:Noisy on weekends because f the music blaring from the Zocalo

Review 87:Location is terrific, right in front of the Zocalo. But it gets very noisy on weekends with the music. The room was big and the bathroom was big--great value for the money

Review 88:Bell boy was useless. Had to call front desk for the tv remote. Wifi access didn't work in the room. Could hear other guests through the walls.

Review 89:Nice breakfast.

Review 90:Location - there was an ongoing teachers strike in the zocalo, they hadamplified sound and were constantly making speeches or playing music, including late at night. Lots of traffic noise. I sought out thislocation because I stayed here many years and loved it, but the noiseand traffic have gotten much worse. Hotel has valet parking, 17 peso anhour, but free from 9 pm to 8 am. Multiple time the street was closed sowe had to use other parking, but the valet did pick it up from theparking we had to use and move it to theirs.

Review 91:Location - on the zocalo, right across from the cathedral, beautifularea. The room had 2 small balconies and was very large. Wi-fi workedmuch better than expected, based on previous reviews.

Review 92:Front rooms on zocolo are good because natural light, a good look out to the city's activities; bad because of traffic and city noise. Generous breakfast included with room.

Review 93:I was given a room on the top floor and without windows outside, unfortunately I suffer from bouts of claustrofobia and I had to request a different room. Also, the wi-fi internet in the bedroom wasnt very good.

Review 94:I stay at this hotel every time I go to Puebla because of the fantastic view out of the balcony on to the Zocalo and Cathedral.

Review 95:A real negative, however, is Arnesto, who manned the reception desk on Saturday. He was not helpful with our questions, not friendly almost to the point of being rude. He needs to go!

Review 96:The location is superb. Our room overlooked the zocalo which was IDEAL! There was not too much street noise as we had feared. Our only complaint is that the lighting in the rooms needs to be doubled!! The hotel staff accommodated our requests fairly quickly. We received outstanding service from the restaurant manager, Victor Hugo. He is an employee par excellence! Breakfast are quite nice and the restaurant has good food at fair prices. Miguel, who I believe is the senior staff person at the desk, is marvelous, helpful, kind, etc.

Review 97:When we arrived we were placed in a triple room overlooking the Zocalo.Everything was great until we went to bed and tried to sleep. On Sundaynight the noise from the street was insufferable. The staff onlyrelocated us after we applied pressure; then we were given a large, renovated double room on the top floor, by the light well - lesscharacter but newly renovated, more comfortable and quiet. Otherwise, the hotel was good value for money, becoming in need of a facelift insome of the rooms and public areas, and in a great location, especiallyfor night owls..

Review 98:Hotel Royalty, made my trip so comfortable, I went to Puebla to visit my family, so I enjoy them during the day and then I can rest and eat out at the portal, listening to music and enjoying myself. The rooms are very clean, the staff very attentive and helpful, the beds are comfortable, and the location is the best, I was able to do all what I planned to do, safely. The front desk personal always got me a safe taxi and I enjoy my visit at 100% For further trips to Puebla, Mexico I always will choose Hotel Royalty!!!!! I totally recommend this hotel to anybody who wants a great hotel for a very fare rate.

Review 99:The bed was extremely hard and it was noisy due to the window facing the Zocalo. Also, the food is not very good for the price. Only the boufet was good otherwise it was cold and bad.

Review 100:The Hotel Staff was great. I found that that everything was at arms lengths, from tours restaurants and historical sights. Also, the room was clean.

Review 101:Light sleepers may not get sleep. If your room is near the Zocalo thereis a lot of noise everyday early and late. Very few tv chanels.

Review 102:Great complmentary breakfast and clean rooms! Great service andlocation.

Review 103:Picking up trash in zocalo at 3am. But worth the noise for the view

Review 104:Room with balcony facing zocalo (costs more but worth it)

Review 105:Cleanness of the bathroom

Review 106:Best location in Puebla View from the balcony Breakfast Value for money

Review 107:A lot of sound , you can't sleep

Review 108:No elevator.

Review 109:The closeness of the hotel to Zocalo, and all the activities near by The rooms are large and well appointted. Nice free breakfast.

Review 110:Amazing view from the junior suite.

Review 111:wait to get the car from parking place

Review 112:great location easy to get to great rooms,

Review 113:the hospitality of the staff, and restaurant staff too. they were very kind. everything was excellent!

Review 114:Noisy from traffic , renovation hotel smell Paint

Review 115:Noise, unfriendly staff

Review 116:large rooms, at the Zocalo

Review 117:Location.

Review 118:Location is very good.

Review 119:Location! Balcony overlooking Zocalo. Breakfast options. Spacious room

Review 120:The wifi hardly ever worked, that was a problem.
