Reviews for JUFA Hotel Salzburg

Review 1:Very nice Breakfast, you could not have better. This is not a 3 stars hotel for sure but the for the quality/price is well worth the money. The room are very basic but bed and bathroom are clean and comfortable. If you just want a place to sleep close to center at affordable price with a wonderful breakfast go straight for it. They propose also a buffet on evening at 9 EUR worth the money as well, unbeatable, this is ok and they keep they promise for the price. To resume, this normal hotel without pretention but fulfill their the expectation for the price paid and huge extra for the breakfast which was as complete as 4 stars Hotel

Review 2:The shower had only ice cold and boiling hot water, and you couldn't regulate the temperature no matter what you did.

Review 3:Good location, clean, friendly staff, a good deal for your money.

Review 4:WIFI was patchy in the rooms. Better downstairs, but still a little slow.

Review 5:Nice free breakfast buffet. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great location close to the Old Town and bus stops.

Review 6:The reception staff not too welcoming, also check in time of 4pm is ridiculous.

Review 7:The only thing good I have to say is the location was great, cleanliness was excellent.

Review 8:Too bad wifi is not available in the room and have to resign in to the wifi while in the lobby. Can't get wifi in the breakfast hall too even is on the same floor with the lobby

Review 9:I really the water pressure in my bathroom and the free breakfast is awesome.. Even thought is the same type of food, but the food are really good

Review 10:The location is excellent, in walking distance to e.g. the old town, Mönchsberg mountain and the famous castle there on top, Hohensalzburg. JUFA is at the end of the street called Josef-Preis-Allee in a seemingly calm surroundings. The room and the bed were better than I expected and there was absolutely no noise from inside nor outside the hotel during the night, offering for a good night sleep and rest. The staff was really friendly and helpful, the breakfast was decent and the dinner buffet offered very good value for around 10 EUR. The room price was also good value for money at just over 80 EUR for two nights. Overall, JUFA exceeded my expectations by far. I ordered late when the majority of suitable options was already booked, but found this offer on Booking.com

Review 11:Parking not allowed near the hotel, but there is a payment parking not so far (8euro per day)

Review 12:Breakfast was very good and quality/price, position were excellent. Also if you have child the accomodation is perfect.

Review 13:The Internet was poor only worked in lounge not in bedrooms

Review 14:Loved how close Jufa is to everything just walking distance. Fantastic views of alps and the fortress. Delicous breakfasts!

Review 15:we were in the rooms behind next to business rooms(401-412) the connection of internet was very poor and slow both days. Even the first day was a tecnical problem. The staff seemed to be very stressy, were trying to do all together to serve the coffees, the food,to make the check-in,payment.

Review 16:the breakfast was very nice and delicious! Also if you have a good-big breakfast you won't have to eat again only a dinner!!

Review 17:Internet service was poor and in the room (420 in our case) internet was not available.

Review 18:The room was always tidy, bfast was good and location was ok, in 15 min you'll be in the centre.

Review 19:During the three days I was there, the internet was not working. I asked and they only said that it was holiday and it wasn't possible to fix it. A big minus for this to the hotel.

Review 20:The room was clean and the hotel was in a quiet area (despite being near the centre). Also it was well connected by bus to the train station. The breakfast was great! nice and friendly staff, although check in could be a little faster.

Review 21:For the amount you pay you expect working wifi for one. The wifi is very unreliable, you are better off going to the train station. Check in 4pm. Dorm rooms, the door didn't lock, and one powerpoint for the whole room. Upstairs rooms crowded, showers need to be fiddled with.

Review 22:The staff are really helpful, the location is good and the free breakfast is great.

Review 23:Check in isn't until 4, which is fine but when we arrived back after exploring it was about 8 pm and we went to out room for the first time and it was FREEZING. The window had been left all the way open. In December. The heater was cranked all the way to 5, the max, and warm air slowly trickled out. It took all night to warm the room. I had to sleep in a sweater. The wifi also was nonexistent on the second floor.

Review 24:The JUFA is a great budget option with amazing views of the fortress. Take bus 5 or 25 from the main train station and it takes you right there. You can get on the cities hop on/hop off tour bus from the same bus stop you take for the train station. The rooms were a good size, comfortable beds, free wifi in the lobby, supposedly free wifi in the rooms but ours did not work at all.

Review 25:Thin walls, They claim that only towels left on the floor will be cleaned for the sake of the environment, but they change all of them every day regardless of where you leave them,

Review 26:Clean room, correct breakfast,

Review 27:There were two separate beds that could be joined but in this case there was a hole in between. This was not very comfy when sleeping. I expected to have one big bed in our room.

Review 28:Place where the hotel is situated is very good, close to the centre. Breakfast was fine.

Review 29:There was no wi-fi in the room, whereas in the description of the room in booling.com it was indicated the wifi service. Without further restrictions. Thats not a fair indication

Review 30:First of all price was high for this seasonoff time, secondly hotel blocked the room price amount im my card for twoo weks before of my arrival and at the same time I paid during the check in the same amount extra, that means I will loose until blocked money will be useful in my credit card again. This method of securing the booked rooms is not convenient.

Review 31:The Internet was very weak and unstable. Even if you signal that you do not wish your towels to be replaced by clean ones by hanging them (as opposed to leaving them on the ground), they disregard your choice and provide new ones. Completely unnecessary for a two-night stay.

Review 32:The staff was great, polite and helpful. The breakfast was decent - plenty of options for people who cannot eat bread.

Review 33:Parking space was very limited. Beds were not very comfortable.

Review 34:A family room was available, so we could sleep in the same room as our children. Very good breakfast. Nice personnel.

Review 35:Since it is a youth house it was very noisy till 10 PM. Friday through Sunday is best if youthful enthusiasm bothers you.

Review 36:Excellent breakfast and location. Very helpful staff.

Review 37:My partner and I had single beds each which wasn't so bad until we woke up to find the bed had bed bugs and my partner had been bitten all over, Other then that we couldn't really complain except there is a lot of young kids staying here aswel so it's very noisey 24/7

Review 38:Good location, breakfast included, room had everything we needed.

Review 39:Hard to find. Very little available to eat for dinner, you have to go into the town to get a proper meal.

Review 40:Spotlessly clean, great breakfast buffet. Helpful staff.

Review 41:The girls at the Reception Desk were very helpful, polite and efficient. Located right next to the old town though a bit far from the train station Excellent breakfast

Review 42:Ones we were rejected to have a super in restoran becouse of some event took place there. We have paid during check in for 3 days parking but at most time it was totaly full. Hotel didn't guarantee the parking place even if you paid for it

Review 43:Good breakfast

Review 44:shampoo bottle in the shower was empty and wireless wasn't working sometimes.

Review 45:breakfasts were awesome, and location was so near the old town, very helpful and cheerful personel.

Review 46:Wi-Fi limited in the room; almost of the time without net :( But at reception there is net (log in/password)

Review 47:1. Localization 2. Room facilities 3. Cleanliness 4. Variety in the Breakfast 5. Quiet

Review 48:The room was hot and had no a/c, so it was a rough nights sleep.

Review 49:This is a basic style hotel. The room was basic, with 2 lots of double bunks. The breakfast was good.

Review 50:No airconditioning and relative small parking lot (you might het unlucky and don't have a free parking place)

Review 51:The staff was really friendly and eager to help. Breakfast was great and the room was clean.

Review 52:The staff were not as friendly as they could have been. I also work at front desk job and think that they could have been friendlier. The Wi-Fi in the room didn't work more than half the time which was disappointing for us.

Review 53:The location and breakfast were very good and suited us.

Review 54:bed and room are small. a fridge and a kettle in room could be an added value for travelers.

Review 55:very well located walking distance to the old town and one can easily reach the main attractions. very good breakfast and staff.

Review 56:Room were rather small for the price. (Compared with Jufa Wien, which were spacious and for basically the same price). There was also no air-conditioning. The TV channels were limited to German programs only- no satellite TV, which was a little disappointing.

Review 57:Good location to the old city- walking distance. Quiet location. Breakfasts were ample and a good selection and variety.

Review 58:Wi-fi didn't work in bedroom, I had to go and sit in reception. Reception and all public areas were VERY hot with no A/C or other ventilation. Slow service at reception, not enough staff on duty. Car park too small and not possible to reserve space in advance - very confusing situation.

Review 59:Good location within walking distance to city centre. Comfortable room with nice bathroom. Good bed although duvet was much too heavy for high summer temperatures.

Review 60:WiFi reception was poor in some areas.

Review 61:Excellent location (15 minutes walk to city centre), reasonably priced parking, outdoor terrace with view to the castle.

Review 62:The room was the smallest room I have ever stayed in. The room was so small we had to take turns sitting on the bed just to get by each other.

Review 63:The location is excellent - a bit off the main tourist area, quiet, and with great access to transport and the main sites.

Review 64:Rooms were a bit crowded? But really it was fine, just what we expected.

Review 65:This was the best location I could imagine for our university group--in the city, but comfortably calm and with a great view. Nice staff, good rod, good food.

Review 66:Non existent Wifi. They make you pay for parking. Then there are no parking spaces. Forced to park next to rubbish bins and then blocked in for 3 hours I the morning while they try to find the owner of the car blocking mine. Very poor service!

Review 67:Great location just at the foot of the Fortress, old city and close to all the wonderful restaurants.

Review 68:i couldn't recommend this place, its a very basic hostel type hotel, sparce rooms which in my opinion are overpriced, breakfast very basic, not even a cup of tea on offer unless you like fruit in it!

Review 69:Location not bad short walk and your in the good part of the city

Review 70:The wifi was terrible, it did not work in the rooms and neither in the reception. When I asked the reception they gave the same standard reply that a technician is looking into it for 2 days. The cleanliness of the rooms was poor. The bathroom tiles were with mildew. Even the rooms had very bare furniture. The parking was awful with no place at all to park. The service supplies were making noise all through the early hours of the morning. AVOID THIS PLACE

Review 71:The location was within walking distance from the city centre

Review 72:Salzburg was more pricey than the German cities we had visited and the hotel more expensive. However, I reckon it was still very good value for Salzburg given the facilities, a very good buffet breakfast and the 'first come, first served parking on site' for 5 euros a night. The only down side for some might be that it wasn't in the town centre. But it was only a pleasant 10 minute walk and so not an issue for us.

Review 73:The rooms are quite small and plain with no airconditioning. The free wifi was a bit finicky, sometimes only one of us could get on at a time.

Review 74:The location was excellent, the staff helpful and breakfast very nice. The rooms, though small, were clean. We liked the outdoor patio area and seating area in the lobby.

Review 75:Room service, room area is very small , No cleaning on daily basis No internet service in the room Pillow of the bed is very bad The bed width is critical Always noisy in the corridor and lobby because of young and school groups. Breakfast has to be more upgraded

Review 76:Location is wonderfull, very nice view and Landscaping far from traffic, staff is helpfull except the manager is ediot One Algerian-under training staff is very helpfull

Review 77:Breakfast was good. The staff was friendly. Tye location is good enough: less than 20 minutes whithout hurry to the Opera and very close to the busstop to Hellbrunn, Zoo and Unterberg.

Review 78:The Wi Fi internet was as bad as useless.

Review 79:Excellent location, quiet , within walking distance from the old city. Friendly staff, good breakfast. Small room but very convenient furniture.

Review 80:Provide a bigger fan during hot season.

Review 81:The location is great. Only 10 minutes walk to the old town. Some bus stops can take us to the lake region and other important sights. The castle and supermarket is nearby. Close to a big grassland park and riverside.

Review 82:Even though this hotel has a large parking place, the parking lot was not enough due to many travellers.

Review 83:This hotel is located in the east side of the Salzburg. The location is quite close to see the city. It may take 10-15 min by walk to go to the Mozart Platz. All staffs were kind and the breakfast was also provided with good quality.

Review 84:I booked two single rooms on the Booking but I do not know why I am sent to the mix three-bed room. It was night when we reached there and we were waiting a long time to handle this. Finally they reback some money but I did not recevie it now after 7 days.

Review 85:The staff is friendly and the breakfast is good

Review 86:A little more attention could be paid to details: the safe didn't work, and couldn't get fixed. We had a problem with a light, and were basically told to solve it ourselves. Sweeping better the rooms on a daily basis would have been nice. We paid extra to have a late checkout on the last day, and got woken up anyway before we were ready (to the hotel's credit, we got reimbursed for this extra expense).

Review 87:The hotel was reasonably clean and efficient without frills. Hotels in Salzburg at this time are expensive, so we know that we were getting value for money. It was just beyond the city center, which was fine, and also I was quiet.

Review 88:Characterless hotel. Functional in the extreme! The twin room had two beds moved together to make it a 'double' and they still moved afterwards! Electricity run by card slot. TV channels not all available. Can't check in until 4pm.

Review 89:The location is ideal for sightseeing in Salzburg. Just 10 minute walk to the fortress. The immediate environs are a little run down and characterless. Could leave luggage. Car park (5 euros extra) useful. Wifi was good when we were there and is included. Breakfast was better than expected.

Review 90:The wifi wasn't consistent and we weren't able to access it from our room. There's no air conditioning or fans in the rooms which makes it extremely hot in summer.

Review 91:Breakfast was great, nice to have access to things like ping pong. Easy to get to old town.

Review 92:Breakfast tables were not cleaned in time and nobody was checking/refilling Staff not friendly They didn't have the 24hrs Salzburg card Internet connection could not be used from room

Review 93:Location walking distance to center

Review 94:I was very impressed, the location was perfect, within walking distance of the centre and all of the main attractions but at the same time it was spacious and quiet. The staff were very helpful at all times. The room was very comfortable and clean.I will definitely stay here if I come to Salzburg again.

Review 95:There is no cleaning services when we stayed there three days. Accessing wifi is hardly.

Review 96:Location is fine as 10-15 minis working to the town. Surrounding is quite for sleeping. Eating area is fine to accommodate the request.

Review 97:Wifi was very poor. We only managed intermittent connection.

Review 98:A short walk to the old town, with a very nice terrace with a great view of the old fort. The breakfast buffet was great and plenty of room in the dining area. Staff friendly and helpful. Great value for money. The area of the hotel was very quiet, but this may be because we were there out of the university term time. There is even a free to use table tennis table which was great on a rainy morning.

Review 99:Compact bedroom with ample room for two people for an overnight stay. About 400 yds from the cable car to the castle which was well worth a visit. Excellent range of choice for breakfast. Would use the hotel again.

Review 100:Some genius put a corrugated metal roof on the fire escape which ran right outside our room so we were kept awake by what sounded like an off key Caribbean steel drum band!

Review 101:Excellent location, clean and comfortable. Good breakfast

Review 102:People unpleasant, when you ask information you feel to disturb them; It is quite expansive like lots of things in Salzburg

Review 103:The breakfast and the localisation in the city, close to the center

Review 104:There are two parts separately - hostel and hotel. We were in the hotel´s part. I booked two rooms (we are family 2 adults and children), but our rooms were in the different floor. We had to change it. It was unpleasant, but people who travel together, want to have rooms near. There were very noisy children in the hostel´s part. All night they shouted and stopped at five o´clock in the morning. It was holiday, but we were very tired and they were very noisy.

Review 105:We know JUFA. We visited Veitsch or Spital. We recommend it for stay with family.

Review 106:There was no in-room phone in case you're travelling with others whom you wish to call between rooms or call the reception.

Review 107:cleverly designed room, suitable for family and disabled people. Very clean and quiet. Walking distance to city centre.

Review 108:Location parking (we got lucky when we arrived there was still one parking spot left...) Friendly staff room very basic for a hotelroom, not very cosy.

Review 109:room could have been a bit bigger or at least it would be great to have a possibility to open a window (it was really really stuffy in the room)

Review 110:very good location, good breakfast, nice place to stay

Review 111:Internet available in rooms only at times. Lots of school groups who knocked on doors at night time. Not a nice experience when travelling alone. My room was on the third floor and was always stuffy and too warm to stay in during the day.

Review 112:Great staff, ever so helpful. Fantastic location. Delicious choice of breakfast food. Very good choice of TV channels. Bright, welcoming decor.

Review 113:one of our amendments failed to be passed on so our group of twenty two students were not allocated enough rooms. Four of our group had to go in a dormitory and share facilities and the room with strangers including of the opposite sex, which was not what we expected.

Review 114:Excellent position, clean , bright

Review 115:There was not much we did not like. However, the layout of the breakfast area was confusing. We had to look everywhere just trying to find one thing.

Review 116:The cleanliness of the building was great. The staff was also super friendly.

Review 117:Avcording to booking.com it was a perfekt room for two adults and three children. When we arrived late at night it was a room for maximum three people. Shame on you booking.com.

Review 118:Close to old town. Clean fresh room. Nice staff.

Review 119:Shower was leaking, floor was wet within minutes. Rooms very hot in the morning. Can't reserve parking.

Review 120:Fast check in, great breakfast, beds were okay, warm showers with good water pressure.

Review 121:It is a basic hotel, but with spacious rooms.

Review 122:We are a family of 5 and this was a Great location with friendly staff. Rooms were spacious and comfortable.

Review 123:No refridgerator and wifi in the room. The bed was uncomfortable and small.

Review 124:Location was good. Its 10 minutes walk to the city center, and near bus station. Breakfast was good and rooms were clean.

Review 125:WiFi only works in the main lobby area.

Review 126:Helpful staff who can direct you to places of interest. They were able to give alternate bus routes to get us where we needed to go quicker. There is a laundry that guests can use at a small cost... Very helpful.

Review 127:Much too expensive for what it offers, rooms were not prepared, rooms and bathroom was not well cleaned, you can enter the room after 4pm and must leave till max 10am, pure breakfast

Review 128:Location

Review 129:Castle view from the room. 5 min walk to the center. Parking place (if not full) for 5€ per day. Ping-pong table & socker table on the basement.

Review 130:No air-conditioning means it can get quite hot in the rooms in summer

Review 131:The hostel is located only a short walk from old town, and there are multiple buses from the hauptbahnhof to close walking distance with luggage. We shared a private twin room, it was clean, there was linen, towels, soap in bathrooms, hair dryer and it was very reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 132:the place is a bit far from the center a bit not by much. the weather was hot and the room was not air conditioned. there was no internet in the room signal was too low. the beds were very uncomfortable. all in all a bad experience.

Review 133:the place had reasonable parking. and the staff was nice

Review 134:Nothing

Review 135:The location was awesome only a 10 minute stroll into old town. Hotel was great too, nice and clean, breakfast was good and the hotel is fairly quiet. Had a lovely stay.

Review 136:It has a dorm room feel and the free wireless only works in the lobby.

Review 137:If you are looking for luxury, this is not your place by, It was a fine hotel for a couple nights if you are just looking for a place to lay your head at night.

Review 138:Way overpriced, the decor of the place reminded me of an old person's retirement home. They haven't invested in decent Wi-FI, It doesn't work in your bedroom and it barely worked in the lobby/lounge. Took forever to load the most basic info. I booked a double bedroom for myself and my GF and was put into a 4 bed room with a bunk bed! I asked to be moved which they obliged no probs, but why put me in there without even mentioning it in the first place!). Also, if you are coming with your partner, don't expect a nice double bed. They only have single beds which slide together to create a double. That means two blankets and a gap that will open and swallow you up if you lie in the middle of the beds! :) The only saving grace is it's location - a five or 10 minute walk to the centre of town. Overall, not worth the 119 Euro I paid for one night; cheap rooms, no style and little to know Wi-Fi - look elsewhere.

Review 139:Decent location, only a 5 minute walk to the old town

The Fine Print

Please note that only rooms in the guesthouse (standard and family rooms) can be booked for youth groups. Rooms in the hotel (comfort rooms) are not available for youth groups.Only a limited amount of parking spaces are available. Parking spaces cannot be guaranteed.
