Reviews for Huys van Steyns

Review 1:Beautiful rooms, wonderful staff! We have stayed in about 70 hotels in Europe the past 3 years (mostly 3 and 4 star) and this is our favorite. We have not found a better combination of quality facilities, service and hospitality anywhere.

Review 2:The owners are very service oriented and help out with whatever request I have. I come to the Tongeren antique market often and always stay here or their sister property, Hotel Caelus, if rooms are available. Both properties are very comfortable and have large rooms available.

Review 3:Insonorisation could be better.

Review 4:Everything except the sound-proofing. We met both brothers and found them extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are large and well-equipped. We all had a good night's sleep. Breakfast was just fine. And what a lovely house!

Review 5:The breakfast fry was nice but small quantities, could have eaten double that amount and I'm not overweight! Charge for off street parking.

Review 6:Old style interior, overall style was very nice

Review 7:I didn't enjoy paying extra for parking. But without the option the car would have been a problem.

Review 8:Lovely little hotel. Excellent friendly owner. This is the oldest city in Belgium. Very quirky and well off the normal tourist beat. The hotel itself is the former home of a shoe tycoon and hasn't been messed about a lot. I really enjoyed the stay. Just don't expect room service or an on-site restaurant.

Review 9:Very nice unique Hotel, very comfortable and welcoming. We had two rooms both of which were spacious with nice en-suites. Nice Breakfast served in a lovely breakfast room.

Review 10:The hospitality of the staff, the sweet location and the delicious breakfast were all top shelf! Lawrence had great restaurant advise as well...thanks again!

Review 11:Nothing, it was all perfect!

Review 12:The hotel was beautiful and the rooms are all gorgeously decorated and spacious. the staff are all really friendly and helpful and made the whole stay easy and enjoyable.

Review 13:After a 2 minutes walk from the train station, we had the most welcoming check-in with all information we needed to know about what to visit in Tongeren and how to get there. The restaurant recommendation Brasserie Bazilik is a must in Tongeren (thank you for the recommendation). The staff is so professional and welcoming, the hotel is so cozy, full of history and quiet (in the city center yet in a quiet location) and we feel luxuriously at home. We will definitely be back but for a longer period.

Review 14:My bathroom did.not have a complete wall( up to the ceiling ) so if i went to the toilet the smells could very well go into the room. Thats the reasons why toilets are Always encapsulated. The way rhe bathroom is deaigned they could encapsulate the toilet so shame on the designer. His Sxxx doesnt smell?

Review 15:Hotel ambiance. Staff.

Review 16:Vrey comfortable and tastefully modernised mansion in the centre of Tongeren, a very pleasant town in the east of Belgium. The owners were very welcoming and extremely helpful, providing lots of local information. Delicious breakfast to start the day. Thoroughly recommended.

Review 17:No door and just a standing wall separating the bathroom from the bedroom makes for very little privacy.

Review 18:Friendly staff, good breakfast and beautiful furnishings.

Review 19:Bath only separated from bed by wall with no ceiling or door.

Review 20:Nicely renovated historic building. Gracious host. On site parking. 5 minute walk to center of town and antique market.

Review 21:Breakfast is €15 per head and ok if you eat loads otherwise expensive option.

Review 22:Atmosphere Helpful staff - with excellent English Large stylish room with coffee making machine. Comfortable bed. Quiet location yet very near centre. Parking on site off the road (small charge) Wifi fairly decent.

Review 23:Nothing.

Review 24:This is a very new hotel in an old historical building. When we arrived we were met by the owner Laurence who came out to greet us after we had parked our car. His local knowledge and helpful advice was really appreciated. The decor in the hotel is fabulous. Our room and bathroom were spacious and really lovely. There is a small lounge with drinks available on an honesty system, and there are coffee machines in the rooms. The breakfast was served to us at our table; bread and croissants and a cold selection of cheese, salmon, meats etc, and we were offered egg and bacon as well. The location is excellent in a central location very close to the Sunday antiques market for which Tongeren is famous.

Review 25:Comparatively expensive (and with parking charged extra).

Review 26:Very elegant historic house, beautifully restored. Very friendly and helpful proprietor. Excellent location and with off-street parking.
