Reviews for The Docks Apartments

Review 1:Super minor. The exterior wall can be fixed. The owner is aware of it. But, I do not stare at exterior wall of where I stay on my vacation. Who cares, right?

Review 2:Here is my top 3. 1. Location & Weather 2. Facility 3. Price! The best vacation rental we have ever stayed with the price range. We went to Madeira for mostly surfing. So, it was natural for us to stay close where the surf are. This place is a bit far from Funchal. The drive is not bad; however. The Docks is close to 3 breaks. In fact, two of them is walking distance. The ocean is right in front of you. It is not sandy beach. But, beach seems to not exist in Madeira unless it's man made. Sunset is fantastic. You have a nice outside area to open wine and enjoy the time with love one. The facility is as good as Marriott time share in somewhere. But, the cost is so much less. Of course, it is located next to the fishing port. So, it is not fancy in any means. But, the village is very clean. The weather is always nice in this part of the island. A few surfer/hip star bars at the end of Paul do Mar, which is middle of nowhere, is very interesting. Everything inside of the apartment is well thought out. The owner must have traveled a lot. It is very neat and clean. The cleaning lady must have done excellent job. We will definitely come back here.

Review 3:Lack of washing machine

Review 4:Ample, clean and bright apartment with all inclusive facilities. Overseeing the fishing harbor and the Atlantic ocean from the window is magnificent

Review 5:Absolutely nothing.

Review 6:It is lovely to have the ocean so close by. It is very nice to be awakened every morning by the sound of the ocean waves. Beautiful view. Very clean, modern and beautiful apartment. Excellent value for money.

Review 7:Lovely apartment, but a washing machine would be useful if staying with a young family or for longer than 7 days.

Review 8:Great spot away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist area of Funchal.

Review 9:The apartment is beautifully designed and extremely well-equipped. Comfortable bedrooms and a fantastic shower. The views from the top floor apartment (no. 3) are wonderful. It was great to come back to after a day out, to open the windows wide to the sunshine and sound of the waves. Paul do Mar is currently undergoing renovation of the veradas, promenade and sea wall, but watching the workmen and especially the craftsmanship of the black and white mosaic work was an interesting part of the stay.

Review 10:Unfortunately the sea wall was being repaired during our stay which did mean an awful lot of noise during our stay. These were temporary works and I'm sure they will be over by now.

Review 11:Accommodation was excellent. Great welcome from the owner Louise and the housekeeper Lourdes who were both very attentive throughout our stay.

Review 12:Very comfortable apartment, well equipped and tastefully decorated. Really friendly and helpfull staff. It is worth to rent a car to explore the island and be able to go shopping. Not far away in Calheta is a market, pharmacy, bakery, restaurants .. so everything you need, and beautiful views all around.

Review 13:Nothing.

Review 14:We spent a wounderful week in Paul do Mar in The Docs appartments (Nov7th-Nov14th 2014) with my parents and my son (1,5 year). Thanks to Louise who sent me directions and instructions after I booked the room, so it was easy to get to the place. We had room no. 3 with 2 bedrooms at the 3rd floor which was perfect because of nicest views from all windows. Appartment location is just perfect: quiet village, mostly only locals around, the mountain walking path just around the corner and sea at arm's length. The appartment is cozy, new and decorated very nicely. The kitchen has everything necessary, beds are super comfortable, spacious wardrobes, stable wi-fi. I strongly recommend to stay here and want to come back. Paul do Mar is also a good place to start trips around the island and to come back after.

Review 15:Anyone who cant manage steep steps would struggle with the third floor apartment (two bedrooms)

Review 16:it felt like we were in a real Madeiran village not a holiday resort. The views were excellent, people very friendly. Eating out was very reasonable, with plenty of choice. You do need to hire a car though but this does allow you to see the rest of this beautiful island.

Review 17:For a longer stay, a washingmachine would be nice ...

Review 18:For our first stay in Madeira, we were delighted to stay at The Docks in Paul do Mar. Paul do Mar is a very nice and quiet place to stay, still with a "genuine" touch, far from the touristic invasion . The Docks is ideally located and the apartment is furnished with mordern equipments (wifi also !) and good taste ! Many thanks to the owner Louise for the advices received and the swift attention to our needs ! We recommend warmly this place !

Review 19:Very careful staff. Very comfortable apartments, there are little things that make you fell like in home. The location is not overcrowded of tourists. Threre are maps, a walking guide, a torch (for going through the tunnels on the routes) in the apartments. Very useful "Read It" document where you can find information about shops, restaurants, activity, etc.

Review 20:The noise from fisherman early in the morning, but this is their livelihood, so shouldn't really complain and did not really detract from the stay.

Review 21:The apartment was wonderfully appointed and comfortable. We were met and showed around, very friendly. Had a wonderful holiday and would thoroughly recommend the apartment to anyone who wants to get away to a quieter part of the Island.

Review 22:Location is top with a view over a small fishing harbour. Cool terrace to relax on.

Review 23:Nothing!

Review 24:Flawless appartments. Quiet village. Views. Kindness and professionalism of owner and staff. Great!!!

Review 25:Simply amazing - the owners designed this place with a focus to the smallest detail. Fantastic!!!

Review 26:Needed a washing machine

Review 27:Nice location, very clean and helpfull and friendly people

Review 28:The whole price of the stay had to be payed in advance which is always a bit alarming in these times of internet scams. Luckily everything was just perfect but I'm sure that this might scare off some of the potential clients.

Review 29:Really comfortable and well equipped apartment in a small village with real Madeiran feel. Owners very nice and helpful. We stayed in three different places in Madeira and this was definitely the best.

Review 30:The best apartment ever! I do recommend this place if you want to stayaway of the city life. There is everything you need to live youreveryday life in the apartments.

Review 31:The Docks Apartments in Paul de Mar was excellent residence for our holiday as it is located in western part of Madeira. The place and location facilitated levada walks from Ponta de Pargo to Calheta, as well as trips to Paul de Serra and Fanal far more better than trying to reach these destinations from Funchal. One improvement proposal would even improve access to central parts of western Madeira: if Rodoeste bus company would have timetables available at bus stops in Paul de Mar and furthermore - if Rodoeste website would have English versions of timetables available. I definitely do recommend The Docks Apartments especially for those renting a car on Madeira!

Review 32:Some frustration with connecting to the internet - took us about 1 hourto figure out the wireless system. It is a challenging drive from theeast part of the island to Paul do Mar, but I guess that's whatmakes it so peaceful - a fishing village with few visitors. Having towire the money ahead of time for full purchase price of the stay - thiswas a rather inconvenient hassle.

Review 33:We had a very nice comfortable large apartment to ourselves in Paul doMar. It was very peaceful, which was the idea to get away from thebustle of Funchal. The beds were large and comfortable. A veryinteresting steep mountain trail just behind the apt - good for astrenuous morning hike - beautiful views of Paul do Mar from the top.

Review 34:Everything about this new apartment was perfect. You can tell that agreat deal of thought and care has been taken into restoring this 100year-old building into 3 separate apartments (we stayed on the topfloor, which was superb). No detail has been overlooked. It is anextremely tasteful mix of modern design and the traditional and theexposed stone walls compliment the decor beautifully. Although Paul doMar offers very little in the way of nightlife, it was the perfect, peaceful location from which to explore the island - and is alsoperfectly located for beautiful sunsets. Situated right on the harbour,it was very close to the ocean, which can be seen from every window.Lovers of a good shower will not be disappointed, the kitchen was fullyequipped, sky tv was available as was an i-phone dock for listening tomusic whilst you relax in a beautiful apartment. The owners could nothave been more helpful and we loved it. We wouldn't usually wax solyrical about a place but this really does deserve it!

Review 35:There's internet in the apartment, but it works with a dongle and itwas very slow when I was there. Surfing the internet requires a bit ofpatience and streaming music or video is impossible.

Review 36:The Docks Apartments is situated at a beautiful location, with a daily'private' sunset. The apartment is spacious, well equipped andcomfortable.

Review 37:the size of the apartment very clean beautiful flat

Review 38:Fantastic apartment set-up in very peaceful and beautiful part of the island. Owners very welcoming and helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Review 39:Exceptionally friendly manager and staff. Beautifully equipped apartment and very comfortable. We had a fantastic stay.

Review 40:Everything perfect. Very nice British manager. Location directly at the sea, with a marvellous panorama on a strong surf.
