Reviews for Airport Hotel Sydney
Review 1:Location. Nothing around the hotel but then our purpose of stay was only to tide through an 18 hour flight transit so that didn't really matter.
Review 2:Simple, clean and very comfortable room. Appears newly renovated. On site restaurant Harry's Grill serves great tasting and absolutely great value meals e.g generous 300g steak and large serving of salad for AUD10.00!! Similar great value generous size breakfast.
Review 3:rooms too small Air conditioner didnt work very good and was kept up all night with noise from other rooms Also in morning because of stone floor outside you were woken up by bags being dragged and also everyone knocking and talking Paper thin walls
Review 4:breakfast was cheap and yumm
Review 5:It's very noisy, right next to a busy road.. Not much to do, if your there more than one night..
Review 6:Very close to airport.. Ideal for a one night stop..
Review 7:Rooms very very small. Road noisy. Bed uncomfortable. Slide door for toilet where your knees prevented door closing. Bugs walk under the door into the room as rooms are in a courtyard Shuttle cost per person higher than a taxi but taxi ordering is hit and miss as reception not cooperative. Hostel accommodation really.
Review 8:The taxi ride from the Domestic Airport was $30 - the shuttles were no longer running when my flight got in. No elevator. If you have heavy luggage you are going to have to carry it up the stairs.
Review 9:The price
Review 10:1. I travel extensively and this is the first hotel which did not provide a facility for hanging-up clothes!! Also an Iron and ironing board had to be collected from reception. 2. There is no-one on duty at night. As a consequence the taxi I had booked was unable to contact me at 04.00 as pre-arranged. In an addition what would happen in an emergency, e.g. fire, medical conditions, etc. 3. Noise from outside traffic 4. Scruffy appearnce from outside hotel - not particularly welcoming
Review 11:1. The location 2. The restaurant - excellent food, friendly service and good prices 3. The cleanliness of the room 4. The assistance of the female receptionist 5. No response from my internet request to both Booking.com and the hotel for an early check-in due to a long-haul flight from New York. Advised on arrival, however, that this could be arranged with an additional payment of AUD$40.000.
Review 12:Bedroom right on a busy road, no sound insulation from room above which restricted sleep, ceilings are very tall but the wastepipe from the room above was noisy as it was exposed.
Review 13:Good location, the airport shuttle was cheap, the room although small was nicely decorated.
Review 14:Awkward parking on busy streets for getting dropped off. Still quite expensive for a small room. It would have been better if the cost of the airport shuttle had been included in the cost of the room.
Review 15:Friendly staff, restaurant onsite with good prices, comfortable bed and good shower, proximity to airport.
Review 16:My room was a single and had a separate bathroom though no door on it. I saw into other rooms, and noticed the toilet and shower were actually in the bedroom. Personally I would find that unacceptable especially if travelling with someone else.
Review 17:Close to airport and station
Review 18:There were bed bugs. The room is probably the most cramped room I have ever slept in. It was also the nosiest room I have ever had, (recently back from Mumbai and it was mush noisier in Sydney hotel).
Review 19:Basic, but clean and ideal for what we wanted - close to airport and very good value. The café onsite is a huge bonus, not having to go elsewhere for a quick breakfast.
Review 20:Booked a four night stay initially for my husband only so that he could visit with his daughter for Christmas, this was upgraded to three nights as a double room as I was able to join him the day after Christmas. My husband contacted me a few hours after checking in to state that he felt very unsafe and did not believe it was suitable accommodation for respectable people. He secured alternative accommodation at a cheaper rate in an upper class motel overlooking the Sydney airport in a deluxe queen room. The check in staff at Airport Hotel Sydney were very rude, there was mould in the shower, half eaten sweets left in the refrigerator, fake window, no view to the outside and the most troubling of all was that the smoke detector was taped up. I have utilized Booking.com numerous times in Australia and throughout the UK and Ireland and have never had any issues with the representation of the motels. I would appreciate assistance from Booking.com in obtaining return of our monies spent on the three nights not stayed at this very unsafe and misrepresented motel. Thankyou
Review 21:Single room: Too small room size with no cloth hangers & robes. Too small table with just 1 ottoman. It's open toilet - there's no partition between bed and toilet!
Review 22:Price
Review 23:We could hear vehicles driving by while trying to get some sleep. Our room was located near the street. Would love to go back as long as our room will be in an area where it is quiet and we couldn't hear any vehicles.
Review 24:Food at the restaurant was great. Staff was accommodating. Place was clean. Liked that we were able to use a computer and was able to print our airline tickets with no hassle. Internet connection in our room was good.
Review 25:You really need to check the shower drains- revolting hair and chunky, yukky stuff under the drain which is visible- put me off the shower- probably an accumulation of previous stayers of the last couple of weeks- room 203
Review 26:Comfy bed, fairly quiet considering location!
Review 27:Bathroom very small, shower pressure too high - it was painful Room was like a sauna
Review 28:Staff very friendly and helpful. Restaurant good value for money, steak cooked to perfection!
Review 29:The bed itself had a very bad smell emanating from it. We reported this to the front desk when we left. They were very apologetic.
Review 30:The staff were very friendly and professional. The room was fine, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom clean. The restaurant was very good, both quantity and quality of food, and service.
Review 31:Hotel restaurant staff was very sweet. I recommend staying there if you are first arriving or leaving from Sydney. It's a good home base close to the airport.
Review 32:A meeting was in progress in the foyer area outside our room when we arrived which we found quite inappropriate. We had travelled some distance and looked forward to relaxing in our room as we had a 3am start the next morning. The members of the meeting were quite loud and the meeting went on for quite some time. We found this very inappropriate - surely they could have found a more suitable spot? The air con unit was not working very well needs checking.
Review 33:Location to airport
Review 34:Wifi could've been a bit faster.
Review 35:I was very impressed by the receptionist. He was very friendly and helpful at all times. The rooms were comfortable and spacious. Easy to get to the airport by shuttle or public transport in walking distance. Free wifi in the room.
Review 36:Bathroom shower was broken and didn't slide. The cleanliness wasn't great (cobwebs, mould). Very loud room as we were next to the road
Review 37:Was close to the airport, the restaurant attached was good for a dinner meal ($10 dinner meals) and the shuttle service to and from the airport.
Review 38:tiny guest room. noisy- I heard noises from the hallway, the courtyard , and my next room -woken up at mid-night by laud conversations from outside . no door between the toilet and the bed a bit disgusting. staff were nice .
Review 39:It was so cramped I could not move and the toilet door cannot close if you sit on the toilet. It's ridiculously planned out and cant fit more than 1 person. The shower was not clean there was dirt on the tiles and floor. The carpets were not clean and had stains on them. The walls are paper thin so the person next door having a conversation on her mobile at midnight ensured we got no sleep which was the reason we booked close to the airport. Horrible night
Review 40:Close to airport
Review 41:The electronic key card didn't work very well and I was afraid I would be stuck outside my room after the staff left the desk for the evening. The outside of the building made me fell like the hotel was a little "less desirable" than I would have liked, but the inside made up for it. I was surprised that the hotel wasn't closer to the airport given the name - my bad for not checking more thoroughly.
Review 42:They had a shuttle for the airport. The inside was much better than it appeared on the outside. There was a reasonably priced restaurant on the premises.
Review 43:I had booked 2 rooms , one for friends travelling oseas with us and they had to cancel on the morning of the day we were due to arrive at hotel. Too late to get even a partial refund on a fully paid room booking.
Review 44:Value for money and fast transport to international airport. Very quiet room with all of the facilities required for an overnight stay and an early flight.
Review 45:There was no clear sign for reception , no assistance when I knocked on the door , so I assumed it was not open at 7 olclock when I arrived. Because of this I had to find other accomodation
Review 46:The restaurant on the premises was very handy and offered excellent value for money. It was also very easy to arrange a taxi to the airport as they had a direct taxi line phone service.
Review 47:Lots of road noise. I couldn't get a wifi signal in my room.
Review 48:Friendly staff. The shuttle bus to the airport was good value. Good sized TV in the room.
Review 49:Rather noisy as room close to the restaurant - last time room was a good size at the back away from the highway and very quiet. Initial room that was allocated this time was lovely but the window faced on to Princes Highway and too much traffic noise!!
Review 50:Close proximity to where I needed to go. Comfortable, small room and good for one person as no where to put suitcase and bag.
Review 51:Very convenient for my trip to Sydney. the receptionist was extremely pleasant. As I booked out early, she was the only staff member I had contact with.
Review 52:First impressions are not good. The property is on the corner of a very busy junction. But is was clean and quite quiet once inside.
Review 53:Friendly staff and a clean room. Not far from airport, though shuttle only available after 5.15 pm to hotel. Cheap and cheerful restaurant
Review 54:The wifi did not work very well. It's quite expensive for a basic hotel.
Review 55:The hotel is basic but clean, with everything needed. It is quite close to the airport (possible to take a direct bus to get there).
Review 56:Unfortunately restaurant was closed by the time I arrived- so no dinner. Had to eat a packet of chips from the vending machine....room was terribly noisy from passing traffic and from guests luggage on the pavers....rooms not insulated, so could hear conversations from neighbouring rooms. Blind didn't fit the window, so had blinding light entering room all night also. A/C didn't work. Would not recommend, and will not be staying again
Review 57:.
Review 58:It was disconcerting having the description of the room as having an ensuite, whereas what it actually had was a combined bathroom/bedroom. That being said, the facilities were new and clean and serviced me well for a one night stay over.
Review 59:It met my needs of a bed for the night and for the deal price I paid was fair. I would not have wanted to pay more than I did however. The room was clean and facilities new.
Review 60:- no lift, only stairs (2nd level) - bed not great, but ok - shower was not in a seperate bathroom
Review 61:- clean & tidy rooms - airport transfer was well organized - free internet + printer + wifi
Review 62:- no parking space - thin walls, I heard the couple next to is fighting ALL NIGHT - room was upstairs and I stated that I had a 2 month old baby, (which they didn't view until I checked in) so was hard to get his pram and our luggage up, although reception was very nice and offered to lend a helping hand.
Review 63:- affordable - great location - clean - easy check in and check out - no bond
Review 64:A lot of traffic noise being situated on a x-roads with heavy traffic. Queen room was more a double.
Review 65:Convenient for airport with shuttle bus and also the restaurant onsite was extremely good value with friendly staff. Very clean room.
Review 66:the hotel from the outside looks awful and is on a very busy corner. Reception staff grumpy. No lift.
Review 67:close to the airport, reasonable price by comparison to larger airport hotels, clean and modern renovated room, free wifi, airconditioning
Review 68:Lack of a refrigerator in the room, the lack of privacy for two people in a room (the shower and toilet would be in full sight of anyone else in the room, while WiFi was free it seems to cut in and out.
Review 69:Friendliness of the staff, easy to find and parking is free but a little distance from the hotel.
Review 70:poor sound insulation between rooms - could hear all our neighbours' doings!
Review 71:helpful staff. close to a station to travel into city. close to airport [$8 per person on shuttle]. clean. shops/café close by.
Review 72:Dirty, dingy, absolutely nothing in area to do. Don't stay here unless all you want to do is sleep in a cramped cell-like room. Bathroom had hairs on wall by hairdryer from previous visitor...
Review 73:Close to airport - nothing else good.
Review 74:The sink is too small. The toilet is too exposed. Should at least have a curtain to separate the toilet (& sink) from the rest of the room.
Review 75:The restaurant
Review 76:room feels like a prison cell (shoe box), no windows and no atmosphere
Review 77:Quiet and clean, oke for one night. Friendly staff and good coffee/breakfast lounge (value for money)
Review 78:First room had a broken shower door Next room bathroom smelt terrible of urine room 203 and was too noisy to sleep from the traffic
Review 79:Price was reasonable
Review 80:Room was very small, with practically no shelving in the bathroom for personal items.
Review 81:Very nice room, recently remodeled. My suggestion would be to add towel racks and shelving to the bathroom. Restaurant was very good, and had great service.
Review 82:This is not so much a hotel as a boarding house requiring a deep clean. There is no lift so beware of booking this hotel with heavy cases. It is located right on a very busy road & has no public lobby/lounge area. Poor wifi despite advert saying "available in all rooms". Pay a little bit more for a much better alternative would be my advice.
Review 83:The female receptionist and the service she provided is the only positive thing I can say about this hotel!
Review 84:Outside looked more love a warehouse than a hotel inside it had been built inside out with a communal area with seating which although quaint wasn't very practical as you could hear anyone sitting in the courtyard
Review 85:Close to airort
Review 86:Noise,noise,noise.any room on the Princess highway side is unbearably noisy 24/7 as the windows are thin & there is no noise insulation. Sleep only happened with headphones on!
Review 87:Conveniently situated to the airport
Review 88:The 'facilities',that is a shower and a lavatory, were IN the room. Practical but somewhat unnerving. Bed was uncomfortable. Also the Hotel is isolated - no restaurants, shops or pubs for miles around. Although the Hotel is called the Airport Hotel,it is a converted pub without a licence, in the vicinity of the airport.
Review 89:Location of the room as not only busy road traffic which was advised at time of booking there was also considerable thoroughfare traffic of people going in/out of hotel all different hours and the additional noise that this caused.
Review 90:It was value for money The staff were very helpful and friendly The restaurant was OK
Review 91:Toilet, Shower Booth, Bed are in the same space. And the most unbearable thing is the stinks provably from drainage holes of toilet and shower. Walls are thin and it makes it noisy.
Review 92:Very noisy in all the rooms we had booked. Nobody slept a wink. Probably would best suit backpackers rather than business travellers. The photos on the web look much nicer than the reality!
Review 93:The staff were friendly and helpful and the location is convenient to the airport.
Review 94:The Shower/Toilet was so small youcould not sit on the toilet and close the door. Pipes in the ceiling were exposed and noisy. Really bad would not recommend to anyone
Review 95:Not having a fridge in the room was very annoying having travelled so far and no where to put food and drinks, we went and asked for some ice and they were not very forthcoming. We eventually got a small cup of ice . Ridiculous??
Review 96:Getting into our room was quick and easy, room was pleasant.Nice and clean?
Review 97:We arrived around midnight after flying to Sydney from Vanuatu. We were prepaid over Internet and upon arrival were told to sign a form which stated we would be charged up to $200 if we smoked in the room. We are non smokers and have never been asked to sign a paper saying we would NOT SMOKE. Of course upon inspection of the room found that there were no windows which would open IF a person did smoke. The next morning we requested the manager, who was attending the Reception to inspect our room and sign on this form we had not smoked in the unit. Rudely, he finally sent a cleaner to inspect the unit and she confirmed there was no smoking smell. I also asked him to inspect the BROKEN fittings. 1. Shower screen 2. Toilet door which would not close to give privacy while using toilet and shower. 3. Broken, cheap side units whose drawers would not close. He would not inspect this damage which was in the unit when we arrived. The units have been built inside an old hotel and certainly do not give even the MINIMUM space required to call the unit a typical motel unit. NO TOWEL RAILS made it impossible to dry the towels overnight. No wardrobe for hanging clothes were two more inadequate features.
Review 98:Absolutely nothing. Extremely disappointing. Would discourage anyone from staying there and wasting their money
Review 99:No lift to take large suitcases up stairs. No cot available for baby so I hired one which was delivered to the hotel yet the staff were oblivious as to where it was or that it had even arrived. Quote "I don't even know what one looks like". Unhelpful.
Review 100:Close to the airport
Review 101:I don't like being charged before I stay the night. The desk clerk would not change my credit card choice. I would not come back because of this.
Review 102:Clean
Review 103:ROOM VERY SMALL NEEDS FRIDGE. also rooms are not sound proof.
Review 104:FOOD AT HARRYS GRILL EXCELLENT SECURITY AT THE HOTEL VERY GOOD CAMERAS EVERYWHERE. GOOD TRANSPORT OPTIONS AROUND THE AREA.
Review 105:So close to the highway our room was 3 or 4 m from the traffic - so we could not open the window ( didn't try).
Review 106:The staff , the adjoining restaurant was good snd the staff there very charming and attentive .
Review 107:The whole place staff unhelpful and rude, room filthy, one towel for bathing, cleaning hands from toilet an cleaning face they won't give you a hand towel even when asked unhygenic worst ever place stayed in all my travels
Review 108:Nothing it was very displeasing
Review 109:Very poor sound-proofing indeed. We were kept awake for a number of hours by the adjacent room's TV. The walls are terribly thin. Noise from above also.
Review 110:Modern and very clean room. Good shower & toilet area. Friendly staff. Good cafe attached for breakfast, which was excellent. Handy for the airports. Close (2 km), to the trains into Sydney Central train station.
Review 111:Although transportation to and from the airport was not provided by the hotel, it's location was perfect to take the train into Sydney to see highlights such as the Opera House and Darling Harbour even on a short layover there. Staff was extremely helpful in making that all hapoen.
Review 112:Please improve your service at front desk. Also please install hush windows or have them double glazed to help reduce traffic noise. That was really bad
Review 113:The noise from the next door was too loud. When thy use a shower, it sounds like water cascade in my entire room. My room smelled bad. There was no refrigerator.
Review 114:The room had a modern feeling, clean & crispy bed was nice. The shower had a really strong water pressure and hot temperature, I really loved it. Nice and close to the airport.
Review 115:No lift so too difficult for older people to get to and from 2nd floor with heavy bags. We had an internal room with no window to the outside - a bit claustrophobic but the advantage was that noise from busy roads was minimal
Review 116:Very clean and no smell of cleaning chemicals. Facilities for printing out boarding passes. Fantastic restaurant. Excellent shuttle service to airport.
Review 117:It's so bloody noisy. Room overlooking a main cross roads, no double glazing. Very little sleep. Arrived at 9pm - restaurant just closed, couldn't even get a drink!,
Review 118:It is a bit of a rabbit warren to find your way around. Expensivetrip from airport by taxi. Take the train and get off at the stationnear there.
Review 119:It has everything you needed for a very cheap price. Room was tiny witha single bed but this is all that I needed. The restaurant food wasexcellent and cheap. Bangers and mash onion gravy. Cheesy garlic breadand mineral water under $18 bucks. Can't beat that! Book the shuttlebus to airport.
Review 120:Glad I had read that the toilet is IN the room, not separated by a wall or that would have been a bit confronting. Having said that, this is a clean, functional room for spending a few hours before a flight. It is not meant to be a holiday resort and you have payed a lot less than many other places- take a photo, have a laugh then enjoy the spare $$ on your holiday.
Review 121:So close to the airport you could see it- 5 -10 minute taxi ride in no traffic. Also only a few minutes walk from a train station. This is the ideal place for travelers who wish to be close to the airport and not pay a fortune. The room was very small but clean, tidy and functional and you can go to sleep knowing you are just a few minutes away from checking in. It is also very accessible by train to the city so you can spend some time there before coming back to get ready for your flight. The staff were very friendly and helpful, helping with my bag and booking me a taxi for my very early morning flight. There is a courtesy bus but it obviously was not running at 3am.
Review 122:I didn't get very much sleep due road traffic being constanly noisy all night. Room was adequate although a little on the cramped side of comfortable.
Review 123:The staff were excellent. Helpful, polite and professional. Bed was comfortable.
Review 124:Older hotel, although nicely refurbished. Room was small but comfortable. We are glad we asked for a room facing the courtyard, as a room on the street side would have been very busy.
Review 125:Close to airport & has a regular shuttle service. Nice restaurant on site, & it was good for both breakfast & dinner.
Review 126:We knew it was likely to be noisy, and it was. The traffic starts on the highway very early. Not suitable if you can't handle traffic noise.
Review 127:Clean. Good bed, bathroom. Basic tea making facilities.
Review 128:Airport Hotel is over rated. This hotel should only be rated as 2 stars hotel. The hotel is not well maintained. Room is small as well as the bathroom. The walls are thin, you can hear people talking in the next room. The window is next to a street,i suggest to bring an earplug if you are a light sleeper. There is no ref in the room.
Review 129:Airport Hotel is close to Sydney Airport. It's convenient only for an overnight stay to catch the flight on the next day.
Review 130:The traffic more so the trucks that pass in the night as it's located on a main road. I stayed in a room on the main road and was very noisy.
Review 131:For somewhere to stay for a stopover it was a nice place. Clean and tidy rooms, comfortable beds and clean linen. Modern facilities and overall you get what you pay for.
Review 132:The friendliness of the Receptionist. My plane came in late, and it was close to 11:30pm. I rang and she waited till I arrived; fixed everything, inc the shuttle for the next day; and even took my luggage to my allotted room. I really appreciated this after a very long flight.
Review 133:When we first arrived, I truly thought this would be a seedy hotel. A very small reception which needs an update and the room was very small. But it was just fine for an overnight transit. Very close to the Arncliffe Train Station but also close supermarket. We enjoyed a walk around the neighbourhood.
Review 134:It was close to the airport with very easy shuttle service. The restaurant was very good value for money and efficient. Nice to have a little court yard to sit in if needed and the room was very small, so we used it. The staff were accommodating for us when we had previously requested a slightly early check in if possible.
