Reviews for Mangapapa Hotel

Review 1:Nothing not to like

Review 2:The building has been renovated and is fabulous. The grounds are amazing and the accommodation (Macon Suite) was gorgeous and very comfortable. The recent work has taken a hotel in a perfect spot and made it a truly special experience. Well worth coming back to, as we did, for a second visit. The manager and staff were wonderful and the breakfast and dinners glorious. Local vineyards and places of interest were marvellous. Visit Te Mata and be amazed.

Review 3:The grounds are quite beautiful. The staff are very welcoming and helpful from the Irish cook who does A*** breakfasts to the man from Oamaru who give us excellent tips for our trip on the South East Island..

Review 4:The only thing we found that was a fault to a degree was that we were the only couple on our 1 night stay and were not offered an upgrade.

Review 5:The rooms were fantastic, have history. The grounds and gardens are lovely, as a bnb couldn't fault anything. Our host for the night was a great source of information all and all 10 out of 10

Review 6:Extensive and beautiful gardens surround the hotel. The staff bent over backwards to ensure our every need was met. Food was delicious - the hotel grows many of its own vegetables, and have their own hens for eggs and meat.

Review 7:There was a staff problem and the restaurant was closed. We thought we were dining there the night we arrived and had no notification of this problem. Fortunately it was eventually explained to us and the new manager offered us free breakfasts in the morning. He also explained what had happened and said the new chefs were due to arrive very soon.

Review 8:We liked the grand old home and the rooms were cosy. The garden setting is lovely and being central to all of Hawkes Bay but still in the country is good. We would have liked to experience the open fire and dinner but we did get directed to a Vineyard restaurant which we enjoyed very much.

Review 9:What can I say but WOW! Our weekend was absolutely perfect, the degustation was to die for as were the beautiful surroundings. Our needs were so beautifully anticipated and with so much warmth. Thank you so much for making us feel so special.

Review 10:Was a fabulous place to stay, Nick & Clair were both so helpful & friendly. Nothing was too much bother. The room was beautiful, can't speak highly enough of it.

Review 11:Restaurant restricted to degustation dinner menu

Review 12:Beautiful setting Quiet and very luxurious Friendly helpful staff Convenient to other places in Hawke's Bay "it's just amazing" Why would you stay elsewhere when Mangapapa offers so much? We loved it so much we have been twice in the last month and are booked to go again in a couple of weeks

Review 23:Welcoming staff came out to meet us by name on arrival. Then took us toour luxuriously appointed room. The hotel is a beatiful historicbuilding with some good art items. The gourmet 9 course meal was superb.Would go again and recommend to anyone.

Review 24:General inefficiency and inflexibility e.g. wrong information given about Wifi, rooms cleaned late, very few hangers in cupboard, meal with eight people and refusal to divert from limited written menu to provide cheese (because it wasn't on the menu). Small details which prevent the hotel being "very good" or "excellent"
