Review 1：The beds were very hard and the pillows a little lumpy

Review 2：We only wanted a one night stay close to the beach which is excellent> Position staff and restaurants great.

Review 3：You have to pay separately for lounger and umbrella on the beach, 3.50 euros. Hotel should arrange a deal for a week.

Review 4：Reception omitted to tell us that you can gain access from hotel to beach via room key which is a real bonus, instead of claiming the loungers with a towel! No complaints re hotel. The whole deal is value for money - a couple of days in Calheta is enough. Good rum museum.

Review 11：Every evening there was a loud volume music from the pool area until 22:30, it's quite noisy even with closed windows. One day there was no water in the hotel for more than 12 hours!! We come back from hiking at 17:00 and wanted to take a shower but there was no water. We decided to go to the beach and hoped that meanwhile the problem will be solved. We came back to the hotel at 20:00 and in the pool showers were water but at the room there was no water. We called the reception and they told us that their colleague is trying to fix a problem in the hotel. We've waited until 22:00 and had to take a shower in the douche of the sauna!! The water come back only the next morning!! The next day we had a leak from the head of the douche in our shower. The day after that the cleaner didn't refilled the shower gel. The last night we had a huge cockroach in the bathroom. All the small things were fixed almost immediately but all of these together were very uncomfortable and unpleasant. We told about it to receptionist and get a dinner as a compensation.

Review 12：The hotel situated on a nice sandy beach. The room was spacious with nice balcony and a view to the ocean. The parking of the hotel is fee but 100 meters from the hotel you can find a free parking zone. Fast stuff respond to problems- every time that we had a problem and notified the reception about it, few minutes later a professional was sent to the room to fix a problem.

Review 14：This hotel was set behind a lovely sandy beach and near a nice marina. The hotel also had a supermarket righ Oppersit the entrance. Wi Fi could have been free as this is normal these days but overal we managed. Parking is free just 100 yards away so know need to pay for parking if your smart. Staff were great and we had breakfast every morning with lots of choices. Evening buffet was amazing with also great choices.we went for the flower show in the capital and that two was amazing.

Review 15：There are transfer services from Calheta to Funchal and other places managed by hotel but no staff at reception told us about it. If we knew it, we wouldn't drive ourselves. Car park is not free and costs €6.50 per night at Pingo dice supermarket car park. Safe in room/apartment is not free. Dinner is not impressive. I would expect to see more kitchen facilities.

Review 16：Breakfast is fantastic. Couldn't be better than this. There's a Pingo doce supermarket downstairs which is really good. Inside/outside pool and gym is free. Entertainment programmes at lobby each night is really nice specially live music.

Review 17：Poor breakfast for the size of hotel, wi-fi only at reception which costs 5 EUR for 6 hours and is of VERY poor quality, very load karaoke parties on Fridays and Saturdays just outside the hotel (even though we have asked for a quite room in advance)

Review 35：- Wifi didn't work all the time and was unstable, but speedy when ok. They need to update the router I think. - Cochroaches in one room and a not-working AC, had to move to another room. But staff was very helpful and we got one room for free after that mess- so good and courageous handling of problems. - soom rooms to not have a window to the outside, sometimes just to the hallway. Try not to book a room on the mountain-side.

Review 36：Staff was very helpful and tried to solve all the problems. English /German knowledge reasonable good. Location is really superb directly with its own beach. 30 mins from Funchal main city, good access to northern parts of the island.

Review 37：The view promised was at the left and at the right but stuck in the middle was the main Calheta hotel. We were in an annex accessed across a bridge over a road above a busy supermarket. Not quite the peace we had in mind!

Review 38：We went for the beach and the promised wide panoramic views of the Atlantic. The beach was nice, swimming good in safe bay. At breakfast there were lots of choices and the hotel was very clean and eco-friendly.

Review 39：The mini bar fridge in our room did not chill sufficiently. We brought this to the attention of staff to try and rectify it in the future.

Review 41：The mix up with my booking whereby my request for a shower only room(due to my impaired mobility) was not received with my booking.Consequently I had to be accommodated in the self-catering apartments.There was a horrible smell in the bathroom & despite getting one ofthe cleaning staff to scrub the porus surface around the toilet bowlwith bleach this most unpleasant odour persisted. I was forced to go& buy scented cleaning agents to try & keep myself from beingnauseated every time I went into the apartment. This really was a shameas the hotel part of the premises was so absolutely clean. The lack ofany decent wine at the poolside bar - all that was available was thehouse wine & it was awful. There was a very poor choice of food atthe poolside bar & it was pretty expensive.

Review 43：During check in we got another room type then the one we booked. This room type was at the other side of the street with only a bad sea view. After making a complaint, the staff at the reception immediately excused themselves stating there was made 'a mistake': the room type we booked was not available due to a double booking. From that moment on, they did there best to come with a satisfying solution and they were friendly. But nevertheless: their first intention simply was to cheat on us. They didn't mention the problem proactively but were just hoping that we would not make a complaint about it...

Review 44：We booked a suite with the pictures on internet as reference, expecting a terrace with sunbeds with the room. This was not the case, it was a normal balcony - just a little bit bigger than the balcony with a normal doubleroom. The nice staff in the reception informed us that the pictures shown on internet was for the owners terrace.
