Reviews for Kringsjå Hotel

Review 1:Breakfast was poor.

Review 2:Simple and clean. They have 2 kitchens for guest use and a nearby supermarket, which makes dinners easy. Otherwise the village is small and with few restaurants. They offer free kayaks to use in the fiord. A very enjoyable experience!!

Review 3:The staff was exceptionally helpful, and did all they could to help and assist my elderly parents. It is a basic hotel but for the price the facilities are fine and the view incredible.

Review 4:Amazing views from hotel and overall it is quite and cozy. And of course, nature around hotel is magnificent. Hotel is also close to the pier from where boats to bergen starts and you have a time to grab breakfast before 4 hours ride.

Review 5:The place was wonderful, my balcony overlooked the town and beautiful fjord, the staff person was friendly and exceptionally helpful, and the breakfasts were great. I felt very lucky and thought I had made a great choice about where to stay. It was also nice to have a guest kitchen when I cooked one of the nights. The guests were friendly too.

Review 6:As in so many Norwegian hotels, insufficient shelf space in bathroom (none). People travel with a bag that they need to delve into for toothbrush etc and women for much, much more. Showering flooded bathroom.

Review 7:Balcony, view, friendly staff, location in village.

Review 8:WiFi signal is not in the same quality in every parts of the hotel.

Review 9:Helpful and kind staff made a free upgrade to a room with balcony on the third floor. Free parking is available.

Review 10:Friendliness and helpfulness of staff. Availability of guest kitchen and laundry. The location is amazing and the views are stunning. It was quiet and unpretentious.

Review 11:Balestrand is a quaint village and much better to stay in than Flam. This girl is family operated and close to the village. Fantastic cute of the fjord's from our room.

Review 12:This was a lovely, spacious, low key place to stay. It was something between a hotel and a hostel. The location could not be more beautiful. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Hotel was comfortable and clean.

Review 13:Location, spacious.

Review 14:Perfect location. I had nice fjord view from my room. I travelled here with my wife and parents. If you want to experience norway fjord experience then this is the best hotel for stay. Since Balestrand is very small place you will not find many hotels to eat and this hotel has kitchen which was very convinient for us. Very friendly reception and feels like home to you. I would love to go back here.

Review 15:The shower is a bit small, but not a big deal.

Review 16:Location and views were awesome, staff was friendly and helpful, and available for our late check-in at 11pm

Review 17:Very Poor soundproofing - heard showers, toilets and neighbours. No elevator so if on 3rd floor lots of stairs to climb with luggage. Old decor & mixed furniture akin to an old folks home. Breakfast offering poor.

Review 18:Great view, with balcony. Balestrand is a place to break your journey - but very quiet.

Review 19:No wifi signal in room. Seemed like a lot of money for a basic and room but it's Norwegian prices! Good location and fantastic views.

Review 20:The hotel had vacancies so they gave us a balcony room even though we paid just the cheaper option, with no view. Wonderful staff. Staying at this hotel also gives half price entry to the aquarium.

Review 21:Having dinner on our balcony with view of the bay below. Easy 5 min walk from the port. Plenty of public areas in the hotel. Pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff.

Review 22:There is nothing I disliked about this hotel or the employees.

Review 23:I highly recommend this lovely place, with breathtaking views. I had read it was a hostel and one needed to rent sheets. The desk clerk advised us that changes had been made, which created an ideal place to stay. The view from the balcony off our room was so picturesque; the small town and the water and mountains made it ideal. This was the only place we stayed in our 2 weeks in Scandinavia which had room darkening curtains! Much appreciated in the land of lots of daylight in the summer! The desk clerk was extremely helpful in recommending a place to eat and giving us an understanding of the options to visit the stave church in Vik. I only wish I'd had more time to stay there with the small town feel and a few places to visit. If you're in Balestrand, this is definitely the place to stay.

Review 24:Small towels, uncomfortable pillows. No hair dryer unless asked for. Trying to get from Hostel to Hotel rating, not quite there yet.

Review 25:Gorgeous view. Very friendly, welcoming and helpful host.

Review 26:The breakfast has a low variety, but it is enough.

Review 27:When we were there, the staff was 1 person. However, he was able to help us with everything. Our room had a wonderful view to the fjord. There are some facilities as a kitchen where you can heat your food. It is a simple but honest hotel, very charming and good positioned.

Review 28:Confusion about the name of the hotel/hostel. Has there been a recent change?

Review 29:The young man at the desk cheerfully carried our 2 bags up to the third floor since there was no elevator, would not accept a tip, and continued to help any way he could. Hotel graciously allowed us to wait in the hotel for the late boat to Bergen.

Review 30:This is really more of a hostel than a hotel. The breakfast is not up to much and it was the only place we stayed in Norway which failed to provide gluten free bread even though this was mentioned in the booking

Review 31:The location is great

Review 32:Loved the facilities available to us (TV lounge, dining deck, game room), the view, the friendless staff, and the marvelous location in fantastic Balestrand.

Review 33:Walking up stairs, but then the view from our balcony made it worth it!

Review 34:Staff went out of their way to identify an alternative route home, and then drove miles to pick us up when we did not make the last Sunday evening ferry home from the town across the fjord! The view from our balcony was superb, breakfasts were very good, but I can't say enough about how we were treated by Magnar and Skanke!! They really went the extra mile for us!

Review 35:Very small shower area.

Review 36:Excellant view from the room. Helpful staff at reception, they brought us a cot for the baby at no extra charge. Breakfast is served early so you can go out for the day.

Review 37:It's actually a hostel with some hotels room. Room was not preapred when we first got the key, then they re-prepared it, but still was a hostel room, not more then thtat. But price was a hotel price.

Review 38:Poor wifi

Review 39:Just a really quaint hotel for the money. Beautiful view from my room, helpful staff. I liked it because it wasn't one of the big tourist hotels. Nice breakfast.

Review 40:The location is excellent. Balestrand is a small village and the hotel/hostel is close to the waterfront dock as well as the restaurants and markets. The Kringsja is more of a deluxe hostel than hotel. No in-room TV but you don't go to Balestrand to watch TV. The common area does have a nice large flat screen TV and a computer. Wi-fi access not the greatest in the room but worked fine in common areas. Wonderful view from our balcony. Room was very clean yet basic, nice private bathrooom but bring your own soaps etc, they did provide towels. Some blackout curtains would be nice, as the sun was extremely bright at a very early hour in the summer. Breakfast was very basic but it was lovely to eat on the balcony and enjoy the view. Recommend eating at Pilgrim Restaurant - Arthur and Bjork are wonderful hosts and food was delicious.

Review 41:Tiny bathroom. Beds not the most comfortable. However this is also a hostel and in that category one of the very best. As a hotel, still very good as well.

Review 42:Gorgeous views. Friendly staff. Atmosphere was delightful. Made us feel like family.

Review 43:The location is central to Balestrand with easy walking to everything. Good information about hiking by the hotel staff.

Review 44:too expensive for a B&B.

Review 45:The view from room was superb. The staff were excellent. very conveniently located near the balestrand strand.

Review 46:The staff was accommodating and friendly

Review 47:Not much choice at breakfast.

Review 48:Perfect location, helpful friendly staff, great view from window, comfy bed!!

Review 49:Staff was very welcoming and helpful.

Review 50:More of a hostel than a hotel, and not very clear about that from the website.

Review 51:Good value, friendly staff

Review 52:Nice, comfy hotel with a hostel feel just a short walk from the ferry terminal. Clean, comfortable room. Beautiful balcony view of the water!

Review 53:Towels were rather small.

Review 54:It was clean, quiet, great breakfast, view from common area balcony & our room balcony. Staff courteous & helpful.

Review 55:Amazing breakfast buffet

Review 56:Likainen vanha rakennus

Review 57:Sijainti ja sijainti

Review 58:The friendly staff.

Review 59:Wi-Fi was very poor with no connectivity most of the times.

Review 60:Great location with beautiful views. Breakfast was good.

Review 61:Pay the extra little bit for a balcony overlooking the fjord. well worth it!! Great breakfast every morning

Review 62:Relaxed atmosphere Beautiful views Staff helpful Not pretentious

Review 63:Gentleman working front desk extremely helpful.

Review 64:Location. Breakfast. Clean bedding.
