Reviews for Dragsvik Fjordhotel
Review 1:It's quite far from the town and ferry landing. They actuallycharged us for a ride to their property. Evidently, they onlywant travelers with cars...those like us, afoot, are notparticularly welcome.
Review 2:The manager/waiter was wonderful, knowledgeable, etc.
Review 3:If you plan in advance the trip, the location could be perfect. In our case we did so many stops before arrival to Dragvik that it looked hard to reach from flåm. We needed to take 2 ferrys to get there, but the weather and the view was perfect and enjoyable. Breakfast is very complete and the staff is friendly and supportive.
Review 4:Ballestrand is 9 kms away and a bit hard to get to without a car - there is a bus that requires good timing.
Review 5:The setting is fantastic and is very serene. The breakfasts were excellent and the owners were very pleasant. Lots of opportunity for outdoor activities.
Review 6:The location is a bit remote, so if you don't have a car one needs to use the bus, which does not run often.
Review 7:The views from the hotel are spectacular. The owners/operators were very pleasant and helpful.
Review 8:First, the setting is beautiful, right on the Fjord. The lounge and eating are is very comfortable and allows you to enjoy the spectacular view. The staff was very courteous. Nice location to hike, which we did. The drive to Forde is a must, unforgettable scenary.
Review 9:Nothing!
Review 10:This property was amazing! We initially tried to stay in Balestrand, and I'm so glad we didn't. This hotel is just perfect. One of the best hotels we've stayed at. And the staff is WONDERFUL!!
Review 11:Just a stone's throw from a ferry (150 metres). 10 minutes drive from Balestrand (make sure you have a reservation at Ciderhuset). Hiking tracks starting from the hotel. Remember this is a simple place good for a short stay during your fjord's journey.
Review 12:This is a small hotel with a friendly intimate ambience. Stunning views from all windows, friendly helpful staff and great food. We would stay there again!
Review 13:Nice freindly staff. Just at the ferry boat. Nice spacious room for family with a bed for a child in the same room. This is how it should be for parents.
Review 14:Nothing.
Review 15:Staff are quite kind. Fjord view from room is beautiful. There are many walking/hiking course around hotel. Easy to take a ferry. Laundry services also useful.
Review 16:if you don't have a car, you have use the bus or taxi transport to the Balestrand. Staff were somewhat shorthanded our first night. When everyone arrives at the dinning room at 7PM, and only one real waitress, things can get interesting. And a crying baby didn't help.
Review 17:The views from the room and dinning room were fantastic. Could get some clothing washed but the drier did take a LONG time to dry.
Review 18:Everything was fine, but you should be aware that the hotel is right off the road and a ten-minute drive to Balestrand (mostly a one-lane road).
Review 19:This is a backpackers and "hutters" hotel. Comfortable with awe-inspiring views of the Sognefjorden. The breakfast was good. If you want something from the bar, you do need to call the staff, as it is small.
Review 20:The spectacular view!!, better than that in nearby and famous Balestrand. The incredible drive on nearby Hwy 13 up a vertical mile over a dozen hairpin turns and the voews from each.
Review 21:Gorgeous location, we felt like we were in a fairy tale. Best service we've ever had from very a nice family running the hotel. Our room was almost unbelievably big and comfortable and all of the food was delicious and very reasonable prices, especially considering it is Norway. Every detail was great.
Review 22:The location is great if you are looking for quiet, and drop dead gorgeous views. The location is challenging if you are not driving, or if you are looking for other things around the hotel to do, as it is pretty isolated.
Review 23:The owners and staff are clearly very proud of the property and take great pride in keeping it well-maintained. The meals were wonderful, the staff was very accommodating. It was lovely.
Review 24:Location location location! LOVED staying at the Dragsvik hotel. The staff are really friendly, the hotel has all the amenities you would expect, the views are amazing, the setting is peaceful and the fresh mountain air is a joy. What more could one want?
Review 25:Our stay at the Dragsvik Fjordhotel was lovely. It is spotlessly clean, the hosts do everything in their power to maximize your stay. Our evening meals in the beautiful hotel dining room were delicious, and relaxing in the lounge area with such breathtaking views left me speechless.
Review 26:Wi-Fi a little temperamental, but standard in the places we stayed in Norway. Have to drive or get a bus to Balestrand (only 10 min journey though).
Review 27:Very friendly staff. Room was spacious and included kitchen facilities. Great view from the room and the restaurant.
Review 28:Small room n very small bathroom n shower n bed Wifi didn't work in our room but did in some parts of stairwell or restaurant . Deer burger was very nice .
Review 29:Location beautiful Staff friendly
Review 30:The room was very hot (sun side of the hotel) - only managed a couple of hours sleep. No air-con but to be fair I didn't ask for a fan or anything else that might help.
Review 31:The quiet, relaxed atmosphere and of course the view.
Review 32:Room was not really serviced for our second night. The meal on the second night was only moderate-we were the only people eating there.
Review 33:Views were wonderful. Staff friendly if rather inexperienced.
Review 34:Breakfast very good, dinners also quite good... not gourmet but real solid Norweigen cooking.
Review 35:Very good service, nice people, clean, fine accommodations.
Review 36:The WIFI was not working always properly, especially on the evenings . A router in each room will help
Review 37:Everything. The place was wonderfully located, near the fjords, the stunning view from our rooms, the personel(i especially mention Ross but all the others were great) that made our stay unforgettable
Review 38:High priced dinner, but that is to be expected in Norway.
Review 39:We were given a choice of rooms, and we opted for the larger one with an attached living area. Views from dining room and our room were spectacular. We took a drive on the local roads and were enchanted with the valleys and homes along the fjord.
Review 40:Nothing
Review 41:Apart from the excellent location, the host is a very energetic, ever smiling and helpful person. The rooms are tastefully decorated, clean and spacious.
Review 42:The WiFi is poor in most areas; dinner stops being served at 9, but they made an effort to make some sandwiches for us after that
Review 43:The view; breakfast was good; very nice relaxing areas to enjoy a complementary coffee or tea
Review 44:Location - a beautiful spot right on the fjord and only 4 miles from Balestrand; fantastic views from the restaurant; helpful staff; quiet spot with walks right from the hotel
Review 45:The room was very small and there is no enough space to put luggage on. Shower and toilet is in the same space. At times; it is used a toilet; at times, it is used a shower room. We had two-night reservation for this hotel; however, could not stay more than one day, despite all fees has been paid. The hotel charge is too expensive. This hotel is not recommended to others.
Review 46:The view from a guest room is good.
Review 47:The children's beds were very hard.
Review 48:Right on the fjord side, great views from our room and from the hotel dining room. We enjoyed the woodland trails and the little summer house. Could not have been more convenient for the ferry.
Review 49:I wished it were closer to Balestrand. Since we had a car we were able to drive but without a car you would have to wait for the bus.
Review 50:The staff were very responsive. Allowed us to check in early and also nab an early breakfast before the ferry left! They also followed through on mailing back a computer we had left in our room. Mucho gracias!
Review 51:Really nice location and friendly staff: since it was low season, they gave us a big suite with balcon instead of the double room we booked for the same price!
Review 52:As with everything in Norway it was quite expensive.
Review 53:It's setting is amazing, with views of the fjord on both sides. Breakfast was included and was really good. We could also pay a small fee and make a packed lunch from the breakfast buffet, The rooms were very spacious and comfortable.
Review 54:Nothing not to like :)
Review 55:We loved the view of the fjord and mountains. We loved the good coffee in the very comfortable lounge area. We really like the owners who made you feel welcome and took a pride in making us feel welcome
Review 56:The staff was not friendly, the building is old, not properly maintained and definitely not clean. We found leftovers from previous guests in our room... Breakfast is quite abundant but very low quality food; meats and cheese taste like the worst "value" goods from the cheapest supermarket. At last, and I can't stress this enough, the place was filthy!
Review 57:Excellent small family-run hotel by the fjord. Spacious and very clean room with a nice bathroom and very nice view from all sides. The breakfast was nice and one could take a basket of food and/or coffee for a picnic. We also had dinner in the hotel restaurant and it was also very nice, especially the dessert.
Review 58:Sound insulation is not so good. Can clearly hear the guests in rooms below talking into the night while trying to sleep. Breakfast is a little late beginning for those needing to catch a Fjord cruise in Balestrand.
Review 59:Beautiful scenery, quiet location - you don't even hear the ferries. Helpful staff when we needed some ice for an injury. Breakfast good. Lovely big room, with separate sitting area. Free wifi in all areas.
Review 60:Nothing in particular. Perhaps that we did not spend more nights! The place if family driven and some of the staff were (probably) young family members without the professional experience one finds in larger tourist hotels. But this is not a problem at all.
Review 61:Small, friendly and nice place with a good atmosphere. Positive staff. Easy to find and great views.
Review 62:The only thing is that you should check with the hotel about the pickup before arrival. We spent another 75 kr/person for a round trip.
Review 63:This is a quite hotel seating in a peninsula and about 9 km away from the Balstrand downtown. It is nice for couple honeymoon. We rented a bike and took a round-trip tour between the hotel and the Balstrand downtown. We got a close touch with Fjord. It is an amazing experience that we ever had.
Review 64:We arrived late and the manager was kind enough to arrange a lovely dinner for us. It was nice chatting with other guests in the garden and the lounge. This location is perfect.
Review 65:the walls are thin, could hear guest snoring in next room, dinner was not great, fish was frozen and not well prepared suggest eating somewhere else
Review 66:the view packed breakfast sandwich
Review 67:When I booked, I did not know we had to take a bus to the hotel. The mail address was Balestrand, so we assumed that it was located there. However, it turned out to be the right thing for us.
Review 68:Location. It was beautiful. We needed the relaxation and rest. This location was an unexpected diamond.
Review 69:Our family of four (including two teenagers) stayed for four days. The setting was beautiful, the accommodations clean and pleasant, the staff very nice, hardworking and helpful. We not only recommend it but hope to get back again ourselves.
Review 70:Limited menu and little information from the staff, who didn't seem too sure of what was available at times. They were otherwise very friendly and as helpful as they could be.
Review 71:Nice atmosphere with excellent views of the fjord nearby. Interesting walks to the waterfront.
Review 72:Views from Bedroom and from Dining Room of the Sogn Fjord; very handy for ferry; liked the helpful booklet with ideas of where to go including travel times we drove to Nigardsbreen Glacier and got up close to the blue ice a must see before it shrinks back like other locations eg, Brikasdal where I got up close 35 years ago when by lake now sad to see
Review 73:We liked everything but internet could be a little better
Review 74:Great, extremely helpful staff who went out of their way to help us with a sick baby. Amazing view from any room. The hotel itself has a lot of character
Review 75:- staff could have been a bit more attentive, e.g. we watched the football jointly with other people but there was no one at the bar or at all in the hotel/reception where you could order any drinks - you can hear your neighbours in the rooms
Review 76:- quiet and chilling place - we were happy that we stayed at the Fjordhotel and not in Balestrand - there is also a small beach close to the hotel where you can go swimming - Dinner: ok but not excellent - good Wlan - very good breakfast - beautiful view on the fjord
Review 77:- Broucher need to update at least quarterly to provide more acurate information. - Better to have shutter to Balestrand.
Review 78:- Staff is really friendly and helpful, they treated guest like family member. - Good breakfast. - Perfect view from room and can see Fjrod. - Staff is helpful.
Review 79:Only be able to spend one night there.
Review 80:The location was superb and the staff and facilities were equally good. Enjoyed the location on the shores of the Sognefjorden peaceful and picturesque.
Review 81:Everything
