Reviews for Imperial Hotel Tramontano

Review 1:The hardwood floors were very dusty, not cleaned proper.

Review 2:the location was great, near everything. Staff was very helpful. The decor was view was fantastic.

Review 3:A lovely old building with a beautiful matue garden and grounds.Excellent location 5 minutes walk to the old town and Grand Harbour. Public rooms were very grand and traditional, with friendly staff.

Review 4:some staff were fabulous but others were more interested in the older single american women than us! Breakfast was pretty poor really. Adequate but basic. Tinned fruit! Really?

Review 5:the location

Review 6:Only negative was when we asked to exchange a 20 euro bill for some smaller bills. We were turned down by the man at the front desk even though the drawer was open and we could plainly see plenty of smaller bills in the drawer. Certainly didn't match the rest of the service we received and seemed so unnecessary.

Review 7:We loved the large room, the view, the location, the breakfast and the pool cafe!

Review 8:We had a sea view from the room but it was only a small window, would of preferred a sea view with a balcony to sit and enjoy the view. Restaurant didn't have much choice so we didn't eat in the hotel.

Review 9:The see view was stunning. The accommodation was ideal for 3 people. Breakfast was excellent. Short train ride to Pompei

Review 10:nothing comes to mind

Review 11:The Staff is Fantastic and the old class charm of the hotel is wonderful. Breakfast was fabulous and locations was so perfect for getting to town or the port to catch the boat to Capri.

Review 12:Bedroom was up a small narrow stairway from living room. Neither the bellman or we wanted to lift our heavy bags up the stairs so we left them in the living room. Not having a room in the West Wing were Keats, Byron, James Fenmore Cooper & other talented and famous people stayed.

Review 13:Location, grounds & sea view of Gulf of Naples & Mount Vesuvius

Review 14:The hotel has no ice machines. you either pay for room service or go to the "grumpy" bartender to obtain ice. The breakfast is very good except for the undercooked scrambled eggs and the overcooked fried eggs.

Review 15:The water view and the balcony

Review 16:The hotel is a little tired. The breakfast was not very good with the 'hot' buffet including cold tomatoes, mushrooms and vegetables (not sure why these were provided at breakfast?) Swimming pool extremely cold

Review 17:The central location of the hotel made the town centre of Sorrento easily accessible. The view of the Bay of Naples from our room was second to none; it was an absolute pleasure to sit on the balcony and oversee the bay with Mt Versuvius in the distance

Review 18:When booking not told that the beach would be closed from the day before our stay and this somewhat spoilt our honeymoon.

Review 19:Large room, welcoming, clean Staff speaking English always helpful

Review 20:Low ceiling in room so I could not stand straight in certain parts of the room, matrass was sunken in which resulted in back sores during the day, toilet did not flush well, room was dusty with old furniture.

Review 21:Beautiful and quiet location, great views from the balconies and friendly, helpful staff.

Review 22:Bed and pillows too hard - uncomfortable. Undrinkable coffee at breakfast. Too many staff at breakfast bustling around. Kick and scream into the modern world and introduce and auto bean to cup coffee m/c

Review 23:Great central location. Beautiful interiors and gardens. Pleasant bar overlooking the bay. lots of nice seating areas to relax in.

Review 24:The room was small and tired, the bed uncomfortable.

Review 25:The staff was exceptional and the proximity to both the ocean and the heart of the city was perfect.

Review 26:A bit noisy, weak isolation between rooms, breakfast same every day, no sauna. A bit expensive for the offer. Except location it is nothing to justify the price.

Review 27:Location, friendly and helpful reception, nice view, parking at property, nice breakfast

Review 28:Nothing

Review 29:Location close to center city. Great staff that were extremely helpful. Room was clean and very spacious. We were upgraded to a sea view room!!

Review 30:Great location right in the heart of the city. Beautiful gardens, lovely pool, great breakfast. Acceses to the beach by elevator is very much apprecieated. Guestrooms are well appointed, large and quite welcoming. The views are stunning!

Review 31:Can't think of anything. Even if there was something, it was over-shadowed by the sheer elegance and picturesque views of the bay of Sorrento.

Review 32:The view from the balcony was picturesque ... post card stuff !! The hotel had a vibe of grandeur and old style hotels. Very comfortable and ticked all the boxes of the ideal accommodation in Sorrento.

Review 33:Everyone there was wonderful! By the end of our 2 week stay they treated us like Family, we went to Capri and returned for our final night at Tramontano, they gave us the biggest suite in the Hotel for the same price as a regular room, Grazie Mille miei Amici!

Review 34:The rooms need updating. A good paint job would be a start. Very firm beds but my husband liked them. Just a little dated for the money spent.

Review 35:Great location beautiful pool And views. Property is beautiful. Nice breakfast .

Review 36:Staff was very cold and not welcoming at all. We arrived and were told nothing about the area, facilities etc. for this amount of money i would expect a slightly more engaging and interested staff. Garden view room had a view of the parking lot, not the garden

Review 37:Location was amazing!

Review 38:There is a guy in the reception area (night shift)that is openly hostile to guests.Does not belong in the hotel business!

Review 39:Excellent location.We had a great view(room 109)

Review 40:The location was beautiful and easy access to the beach was really great. The service was top notch and they really go out of their way to make you feel like a special guest. I would be happy to return there, though next time I will plan a longer stay!

Review 41:Our room wasn't very clean, the cleaning didn't wash floors for at least 3 days while we stayed, there was a lot of dust on the floor. The reception wasn't very polite when they heard about the room cleanliness. The breakfast is in our point of view one of the poorest we have seen at 4 star hotels in Italy. No fresh juices, even orange! Poached eggs were overboiled and had too much vinegar.

Review 42:Excellent location with the best view in Sorrento.

Review 43:The breakfast was really poor. Tinned fruit. un ripe fresh fruit. Cold poached eggs. No muesli/little choice of breakfast cereal. No full fat milk. Very little hot food choice. Some surly staff. Being charged for parking which was cramped and we often had to wait for our car to be made available. The pool was very small and near the main road so noisy and not very private.

Review 44:Most of the staff were very friendly and very professional and helpful. The location was excellent. The room cleaning was excellent.

Review 45:The staff were so friendly and helpful at all times. They took time to listen to any questions we had and also made us feel very welcome and not just another guest. The location was also perfect, right by the historic streets of Sorrento.

Review 46:Facilities limited Pool closed at 6pm Attention to detail was below expectations for a hotel of this supposed standing Some staff attitude was less than friendly of proactive - mainly management

Review 47:Location

Review 48:Wifi only worked in various places. Not in our room, for example.

Review 49:Location to downtown Sorrento. Keep in mind we had a two day weatherdelay that messed up our totally fully paid reservation at Hotel Amintaand that was totally lost. I got busy in a hurry and found HotelTramontono on Booking.com since Aminta was booked. Thank goodness itworked out well. Want to stay there again.

Review 50:The staff wasn't always as nice as they could have been especially at the front desk.

Review 51:The view! Our rooms were clean and comfortable, the bathroom was spotless, the breakfast was delicious and served overlooking the Bay - the hotel is beautiful and the location is amazing. I will never forget the view I had from our deck at the Tramontano!

Review 52:We were delighted to be given a free upgrade to a beautiful room with a sea view. The staff were extremely welcoming. We were especially pleased that the hotel sent to our home address some items we'd life behind in the room.

Review 53:Very dated decor. Overly expensive. Inconsistent information between room and services (pool opening times incorrect, information on the cost of the beach also incorrect).

Review 54:Friendly staff. Great location. Great breakfast. Lovely to have an aperitif overlooking the sea.

Review 55:It is so humid in Sorrento this time of year, our aircondioning didn't work very well, clothing always seemed wet.

Review 56:Location and staff, very accommodating , was concerned about fiumicino airport because of construction and changing terminals, the staff did the check. In for us, which cut down on the stress.thank you

Review 57:The only thing we didn't like was the breakfast. Sometimes no bacon, sometimes no egg, never the full works. The fruit was tinned and mostly gone by 9am. The tea was weak and cold.

Review 58:We loved the hotel overall. We were on our honey moon and they put us into a fabulous suite. Lovely large balcony. Particularly liked the stylish decor - not a tacky item in sight!

Review 59:No gym and the bed is very hard.

Review 60:Staff were very accommodating and during breakfast, went above and beyond catering to my coeliac needs. Hotel is in a perfect location close to the streets and beach. Very clean hotel.

Review 61:Elevator access to the beach (really!) Absolutely central Terrace (50m above the port) with a top view on the gulf of Naples and the Vesuvio Drinks served in style by Don Alfonso

Review 62:The A/C dos not work well. It was HOT and the rooms were uncomfortable stuffy. The pool and beach area close way too early. 6PM for the pool, 6:30 for the beach.

Review 63:The rooms were nice, the common areas of the hotel were gorgeous. Nice, helpful staff (especially front desk, dining area, and the elevator operator). We travelled with our three boys ages 7-12. They were treated well. Breakfast is absolutely awesome!

Review 64:Beds a very hard but then this is common in Italy.

Review 65:The hotel is so central to everything. Easy walk to main Piazza, Seaside village of Marina Grande close by and we'll worth a visit for lunch. Nothing negative at all.

Review 66:I didn't like the luck of reply to my emails which I have send.

Review 67:we had the most amazing sunset and scenery from our sea side view and I proposed to my then girlfriend.

Review 68:The staff at breakfast were pretty rude, same people, all 4 days, pretty rude. The staff at the desk were nicer but not very helpful at all, especially the concierge. When compared to the staff at the Hilton Sorrento, there was a world of difference. WIFI is not reliable and kept turning off. Because of the age of the building, the bathrooms are old with old plumbing, but very clean.

Review 69:The location is perfect, right on the water in the middle of historic Sorrento, and within walking distance to everything. An old charming building, good size rooms and a lovely terrace overlooking the Mediterranean. We stayed 4 nights.

Review 70:The hotel's decor is a little dated but the staff and situation more than make up for this.

Review 71:The staff were all delightful. The terrace bar enjoys a fabulous view. The hotel restuarant's food was delicious and good value compared with others of a similar class.

Review 72:We loved everything and hope to return in the near future! The location, view and facilities are spectacular! The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating.

Review 73:The staff - attention to detail and nothing too much trouble. Breathtaking location - best sea view ever. Great restaurant experience - we just loved everything about this beautiful place.

Review 74:Nothing I didn't like. I guess a Spa would be nice but who has time when there is so much to explore on the Amalfi Coast.

Review 75:I loved to walk on my balcony and soak in the view. It was a perfect location, near to centre with plenty of shops and restaurants but in a quiet street. Only a short walk to the little fishing village and ferry to Capri or Naples.

Review 76:Felt in a bit of a sixties/seventies time warp. In need of a makeover and need to ditch the very dated piped music.

Review 77:Location excellent, within minutes of all restaurants/bars, train station and ferries. In addition extremely peaceful with sea on one side and gardens on the other contributed to excellent sleep.

Review 78:Bed was too hard for our liking but friend's room had a fantastic bed.

Review 79:Fantastic view from ocean view rooms. Breakfast quality & service is excellent.

Review 80:1. Wifi intermittent and no access by the pool. It keeps logging you out so that can be frustrating. 2. Bathrooms are fine and functional but dated. 3. Canned fruit as part of the breakfast is not what you'd expect from a 4/5* hotel 4. Only 1 iron that you had to borrow (and return very quickly) and no ironing boards. Bizarre.

Review 81:1. Fantastic views 2. Fantastic staff 3. Great location 4. Lovely bar 5. Excellent sized room

Review 82:A minor complaint for such a wonderful hotel, but the Wi-Fi was a pain. Spotty reception at best and continuously needed to log in. My suggestion - drop the electronic devices and enjoy the view!

Review 83:Beautiful and spacious hotel with magnificent views across the Bay of Naples to Vesuvius. Our room had seating and large bath downstairs with loft bedroom up, as well as two small balconies. Staff was genuinely friendly and helpful.

Review 84:We were arriving from Naples by train and the hotel was an easy 10 minute walk with a suitcase on wheels.A beautiful location with superb views across the bay. Could not be any nearer to the sea. The hotel has it's own lift to take you down to the beach ! Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean and also nice and quiet. Breakfast was lovely, plenty of choice and all very tasty, served in a room with huge panoramic windows overlooking the bay. The location was super only a quick walk around the corner and you were in the pretty streets of Sorrento with a huge choice of shops, bars and restaurants. we ate out each night at a different place and could not fault the food on quality or price. Would like to go back to sorrento again and would definitely choose this hotel again

Review 85:Some music noise from nearby restaurants but this was hardly obtrusive and finished relatively early.

Review 86:We booked a Superior Double with sea view. We were given Room 210 which has a separate lounge, bedroom with large double bed and a good-sized bathroom with shower over the bath. Lounge and bedroom both had double doors opening out onto a narrow balcony with a table and chairs, and each room had a flat-screen TV. The view out over the Bay of Naples was superb, although it did not quite extend round to the Marina Piccolo. The room was pleasantly cool at all times and the air conditioning was unobtrusive. Slippers are provided if you don't wish to walk on the attractively tiled floor. We had dinner in the Belvedere restaurant one evening - the food was excellent and fairly good value for Sorrento. Service was friendly and relaxed, and as a bonus we were treated to a superb firework display for a nearby wedding. Breakfast was well stocked although the hot selection was limited. Drinks are also available on the terrace or in the pleasant poolside garden. Location is close to the centre, the lift to Marina Piccolo and the ferries is just round the corner and Marina Grande is a pleasant walk away.

Review 87:I liked it.

Review 88:On the water, beautiful garden, movie star looking front desk staff, close to try city square but far enough away for some peace and quite, stunning bar and with a great view. All staff were pleasant and made sure our stay was good. Old school and wonderful.

Review 89:Poor seleciton of creals at the breakfast.

Review 90:Good location - close to the city centre close to the beach and port. Very stylish hotel, with sea view. Hotel has quite big green garden at the front. All staff is very helpfull and friendly.

Review 91:Small room, small and not well equipped bathroom. Housekeeping service is poor. Doesn't worth 380 Euro per night

Review 92:Location is amazing. Public areas are very nice. Garden is beautiful. Free Internet. Breakfast is nice.

Review 93:Breakfast poor selection. Waiter every morning insisted on giving us only enough water for 3/4 cups of tea/coffee though we were a party of 5. No ironing board so how can you do the ironing , even though there was never an iron available when requested. No information provided on things to do in the local area.Rooms and communal areas had a horrible smell of lemon disinfectant. Poor lighting in bedrooms.

Review 94:Fantastic views. Nice gardens.

Review 95:We stayed with our travel companions in two rooms forthe same price. Our room was a quarter of the size our companions room!!

Review 96:The hotel was very nice in a great location. The breakfast was very very good.

Review 97:The extra set of stairs to get to the bedroom. The bedroom had a window could easily be converted to allow access with a balcony which would open up a spectacular view.

Review 98:Staff were terrific. Great Location.

Review 99:Big room but you forgot to put any furniture in it. Old -fashioned bathroom - walk-in shower needed. Bath too narrow to shower comfortably

Review 100:Housekeeping excellent. Bed very comfortable Stunning views Terrace bar

Review 101:The reception staff were stiff and unhelpful- the manager supervisingbreakfast was rude and arrogant- the air conditioning was not veryefficient and seemed cheap- not in my opinion 4 star -3 perhaps-

Review 102:The area was handy for access to the centre - the pool was good- therooms were clean if a bit small - the bed was modern ?

Review 103:Personal attention and effort by all staff to help and make our stay as good as possible. Very frustration wi fi having toog in every time you wanted to use it even if your phone goes to standby but a small point in an excellent stay.

Review 104:The original room was too small however this was immediately rectified and the room we spent our week in was lovely with no size issues what so ever.

Review 105:We would like to to thank all the staff at the Tramontano Hotel for making it such a fabulous stay. The breakfast was amazing with lovely pastries, fruit, cereal, bacon, sausages, eggs etc..... fit for a king! The hotel rooms were clean and comfortable and serviced daily. The beds were big and spacious a definite plus. We loved 'Spanky' the hotel Manager..... a west highland terrier...... he made a great Boss. The views over the sea were incredible ad made for a lovely nightcap each evening.

Review 106:Nothing, everything was top notch.

Review 107:Fantastic views from restaurant and all public rooms. Super pool in lovely gardens. Beautiful period bedrooms with decor to fit with history of hotel. Staff couldn't do enough for us, their English was excellent and they could answer all our questions.

Review 108:Room not very clean (dust on magazines, TV, desk, floor) - The floor could do with a bit of sweep up. This was rather surprising for such a high standard and beautiful hotel. Very thin walls so could hear neighbours from other room and from the corridor.

Review 109:Sea view from the room - The best spot in Sorrento! amazing view of the Vesuve. Private terrace Location - perfect both for the beach and city centre Beautiful hotel building and gardens

Review 110:Nothing to criticise about this Hotel

Review 111:Beautiful buildings and gardens. beautiful interiors and rooms with views to die for. Nice friendly staff. the hotel is perfectly placed on the clifftop and just away from the hustle and bustle. Fantastic breakfast.

Review 112:There was nothing really significant to mention... I would have appreciated a more ambitious bar at the hotel with some suggestions about local wines from Campagna.

Review 113:The location, the terrace overlooking the gulf at the pool, good restaurant at the pool an the overall attention of the staff are only the main highlights

Review 114:Wifi was not impossible but not very good, especially by uk standards but everything else made up for this.

Review 115:I loved the hotel, super service, spotlessly clean pool, good loungers, blissful sea views, great location. So many places you can visit from Sorrento too. Can easily walk to town, lift to the beach or harbour and boat to Capri and Naples.

Review 116:Wifi was unreliable and did not work at poolside or in the breakfast room. The hotel is very dated and old - it needs updating. Definitely VERY over-priced. We had a very large dog outside our window (at a private residence) who liked to bark early in the morning and throughout the day. Quite annoying. Be sure if you stay here to ask to be far away from the big, black dog that barks all day. They will know what you'e talking about (and if they don't they're not being honest).

Review 117:Location was great. Breakfast was fine. The pool was very nice as well.

Review 118:The one downside was the small swimming pool and the rather regimented approach to issuing towels with some guests arriving at 9am to claim towels and loungers and then disappearing until the afternoon.

Review 119:Attentive service from the minute we walked in, yet without being intrusive. Really felt that staff wanted to help make our stay comfortable and enjoyable.

Review 120:Didn't find front desk staff overly friendly; barely smiled! Breakfast was ok

Review 121:Location, beauty of building and outdoor overhang

Review 122:Beautiful location and beautiful facility! Highly recommend.

Review 123:Breakfast room and the breakfast was great

Review 124:Location, private lift to the beach. Mostly the staff, Vitto and Rosanne were always helpful and make the trip for us.

Review 125:Location was excellent and staff very pleasant and helpful

Review 126:Very friendly and accommodating staff, great location for everything in Sorrento

Review 127:No water or fruit in room which was top end expensive,

Review 128:Great location friendly attentive staff great views across the bay.

Review 129:Looking out at the sea. The swimming was great.

Review 130:In room wi-fi was very erratic.

Review 131:The staff at the hotel was excellent

Review 132:Wonderful, luxurious old hotel in best location in Sorrento!

The Fine Print
