Reviews for Cape Trib Beach House
Review 1:We stayed in St Crispin cabin and would highly recommend that room as it looks out towards the beach through the rainforest, it was also more private than the others. Rooms were basic- comfortable and clean. We only stayed one night and wanted to stay longer, we will be back.
Review 2:Our morning wander along the beach was magical - we walked amongst 20 odd baby black tip sharks swimming in the shallows, weaving through the mangrove tree roots. If you are seeking a pure, simple and natural connection to the world on a spiritual level this is the place to be.
Review 3:Advertised as free internet - but no free WIFI - have to pay Extremely noisy at night with a lot of frogs/other animals making noise at night - rainy night
Review 4:Good buffet xmas lunch with delicious fish Location ok Room size good
Review 5:Wifi access was expensive.
Review 6:Right on the beach with cabins tucked into the rainforest. Cabins were basic but clean and had fans and air conditioning. Staff friendly and helpful. The restaurant produced good food at quite reasonable prices. Nice mix of people using the resort too.
Review 7:Cabins were not private and also not at all secure. Fly-screens fell off. Also it's a long long walk to the kitchen area if your cabin is near the bar. The 'queen' bed was just 2 singles pushed together.
Review 8:Delightful staff. Lovely beach and rainforest setting.
Review 9:Staying at the beach house was the best decision for us! We heared the waves when laying in bed and the beach was just a couple of meters walking. The place is in the heart of the rainforest and a perfect location for doing a snorkeling trip from here. Last but now least the staff was super friendly and flexible, they made us feel very welcome and the food in yhe restaurant was also great!
Review 10:The accommodation is really only a notch or two above youth hostel level, mattress with springs coming through, basic furniture etc and very dark inside if the sun isn't shining although none of this matters if you buy into the whole rainforest experience. It's just you should not be expecting luxury! The best huts, ie the three singles and eight semis they have are the closest to the beach but also the closest to the bar restaurant. It seemed some sort of small party went on in the bar until 2am and then all the bottles got tipped into the bins! This may sound negative but overall we still enjoyed our visit
Review 11:The Beach House is without doubt located in an extraordinary area and is literally yards from the amazing beach that is Cape Trib. Staff are friendly and helpful and the restaurant and bar facility is pretty good, we had some good meals and pricing was fair. The tours the hotel organised for us were outstanding. I call the Beach House a hotel but it is a series if accommodation huts with a seperate reception hut and an open air covered bar restaurant.
Review 12:Grocery market was located quite far from the beach house. Poor pet dog (perhaps hungry) was found roaming on the beach.
Review 13:Beautiful location amidst rainforest. Various activities available.
Review 14:The room was very basic, dark inside, only one beside locker, the bed was small and very poor mattress. There was no wifi in the room, only in the bar and it was expensive.
Review 15:The staff were very nice and it was good to stay in the middle of the forest. The food was also good.
Review 16:Music noise from the cafe, smell of cigarettes from neighbouring cabin. Would you consider making all cabins smoke free?
Review 17:Being so close to the beautiful beach and being surrounded by rainforest.
Review 18:Our dark lifeless dingy room definately not value for money. Very expensive backpackers lodgings. Only it wasn't a backpackers resort.
Review 19:Closeness to the beach
Review 20:Rooms could do with an update. Lack of any telephone reception was a surprise but got used to it.
Review 21:Location was excellent, very tranquil and relaxing. Having Paddletrek right there was a bonus. Beach was perfect and living under the forest canopy was very special. Bar and restaurant very handy and food was good with a wide range of choices.
Review 22:This is a great place to get away from it, in a private cabin, just rest, relax, and read books. Although the cabins are not flash, they are adequately comfortable, food at bistro was reasonably priced, seafood was fresh, portions generous. The bar staff, friendly and attentive.
Review 23:I didn't realise the property was off a dirt road - my little Suzuki swift didn't handle it too well!
Review 24:The staff were excellent and went out of their way to make sure we had a pleasant stay.
Review 25:Nothing. Some people might find a problem with the card only policy for accommodation and cash only at the bar and restaurant. Luckily we had enough cash. I'm sure you can charge it if you don't.
Review 26:Amazing location. Great restaurant and bar area. Nice pool. Self catering kitchen is an excellent facility. Fantastic to be in the rainforest.
Review 27:Room was a little overpriced for what we wanted with not a lot of value for a family. Bar staff were rolling cigarettes and we had to ask to pay at breakfast.
Review 28:Location.
Review 29:Being bit too close to bistro... Could hear music and people at night and morning. Would've been nicer to be in a cabin a little further back. although it was conveniently close to beach
Review 30:Sunrise, awesome staff, being out of range, close to nature, relaxing!, being able to totally bloke light out of rooms!
Review 31:awesome location in the Daintree although some may not like how far it is from everything else. a few feet from the beach, did a few tours through them and enjoyed them.
Review 32:Nothing I didn't like. The Ribbon cabin was fine. As expected in an off the beaten track location. The price was quite high though for what was essentially a slightly upgraded backpacker experience. Other booking.com places we booked were better priced with much better rooms. It's not that I wanted a better room in that location, it would be inappropriate but the price should reflect this.
Review 33:Forrest location great. Bar staff very friendly and food well prepared
Review 34:Nothing! Everything was great!!!
Review 35:Everything! Place was the perfect getaway. We were happily surprised by the amazing food on offer and loved the proximity to the beach.
Review 36:The cabins didn't close completely so we couldn't shut out the noise from the loud birds in the morning who woke our 4 mo son at 5am
Review 37:Amazing location, and surprisingly good food.
Review 38:No cell phone connexion passed the Daintree River. It's not a problem as long as you are aware of it!
Review 39:The location far from everything and in front of a fantastic beach where sunrise is amazing The bungalow in the middle of the forest The mix of people (from young backpackers to fit retired people) The friendliness of the staff (especially Matt)
Review 40:We didn't like that we only had 3 nights here. We should have stayed longer. It was total relaxation in a unique environment
Review 41:Hotel was awesome , so relaxing and well thought out. We were upgraded to a beachfront cabin as upon check in we found ourselves next to a young family , and wanted a " quiet stay ". The staff couldn't have been more obliging. Food was very good , especially breakfasts. great atmosphere throughout the whole place , created by the friendly staff.
Review 42:Rooms are basic and could do with a spruce up and a few repairs but were large and comfortable enough for that not to bother us. This place is much more about being in the rainforest and the beach. If I was to be finicky, the way they made coffee was a disappointment (but not unexpected).
Review 43:Great location, very peaceful, bar on the beach is lovely and evenings around the fire on the beach was fabulous. Can't imagine being able to stay anywhere else that could blend with the environment like this place does - it's pretty special.
Review 44:Fabulous location with its own stretch of beach & the food was wonderful. In the restaurant Josh was great, very helpful, friendly & obliging, I would hire him immediately! Rooms are clean & basic, no frills but everything you need.
Review 45:We went on an organised jungle night walk that cost us $90:00 which was absolutely awful. The guide Jordan was rude and inconsiderate and showed us three spiders. We saw more night creatures on the Beach House property.
Review 46:The beauty and ambience of the location.
Review 47:Room was in a poor state of repair. No handle on bathroom door. Shutters were broken next to bathroom. Fly screens were dirty/ dusty, even allowing for the fact that you are in the rainforest, other venues were better maintained in the area.
Review 48:Staff extremely pleasant and polite. Excellent. Location was excellent.
Review 49:Everything gorgeous about this place is LOCATION and the beach. The place is magical. The staff is very friendly. The place is not luxurious, but it is highly functional. The smooth sandy beach is very close to the cottages.
Review 50:Have stayed here on 3 separate occasions, once with a friend, family and then my girlfriend. Has never disappointed. Location is fantastic, relaxed and secluded. Food is always high quality.
Review 51:Need more shelves in bathroom. Have more plastered walls & some pictures rather than so much wood.
Review 52:Very helpful, friendly staff especially Paula, Elgin & Natalie. Stunning setting. Love the new coloured lights lighting up the rainforest at night, bonfire on beach, new doona covers.
Review 53:the swimming pool was a bit boring,
Review 54:Good size park, very friendly staff. Good restaurant. Nicely set up for nature lovers in the middel of the jungle. Right near the beach.
Review 55:A few improvements to the room would have helped i,e. Repairs to the bedside table and a small shelf or table in the room would improved it. But the bed was great.
Review 56:The location was fantastic. Absolutely true that the reef meets the rainforest.
Review 57:Shared kitchen sink was often dirty. Kitchen too small for number of people, needs a second sink. Needs more larger saucepans and forks. Some gas burners didn't work on stoves. Staff couldn't help with my query about birdwatching tours.
Review 58:The location was fabulous. I loved how the cabins were nestled amongst the rainforest, and had direct access to the beach. Restaurant and pool were great.
Review 59:The hot water in shower ran only intermittently for a few burning hot seconds at a time. There was only one bed lamp. A termite truck parked beside our cabin and caused obnoxious fumes to contaminate the air. Paid for Wifi only worked for a few minutes. Food mediocre. At $250.00 a night for a luxury cabin this was very poor value for money.
Review 60:Location on beach was excellent.
Review 61:We couldn't get wifi, not a problem for me but a concern for others! The price of $180 a night was a bit of a shook, I thought we had booked a special booking .com price but no.
Review 62:It was beautiful to be nestled in the rain forest in simple accomadation, a great Australian tropical experience if you have only a couple of days.
Review 63:The setting is amazing, the beach beautiful - didn't want to leave. Restaurant is beachside, relaxed with a great vibe with family friendly food. Accommodation is basic but very comfortable, clean and you really can't beat sleeping in your own little cabin in the middle of a rain forest.
Review 64:The room was very basic. The light was very bright and we did not have a lamp on the night table. The refrigerator was very loud so we had to turn it off. This was a pitty because it was not as romantic as it could be.
Review 65:Very quiet, great location in the middle if the rainforest and next to the beach
Review 66:loud ugly music in the restaurant at lunchtime. The location could have some chillout tunes or something tropical even. Rubbish to burn for recreational night fire was on a pile under a tree near the entry to the beach. Put it in a basket! Prettify the restaurant a bit. Some flowers or something. When it rains you can't rely on the scenery.
Review 67:location on the beach jungle around the cabins
Review 68:No Ice at the bar for drinks Charged $8 for a glass of wine when the whole bottle costs $3 Advertized BBQ, no BBQ facilities Backpacker menu at restaurant Cost didnt include breakfast Rain on the tin roof was loud and noisy
Review 69:Comfy bed Staff were helpful
Review 70:The room was NOT how it had been portrayed - way too small & No cooking facilities.
Review 71:Location was perfect, next to beachfront. Permanent staff were very helpful.
Review 72:the music and noise of people getting on the piss going til 3:30am on the second night in the restaurant/bar area - ordinarily I wouldn't have any issue with this but when it's right next to some of your cabins probably best to give it a rest about 10-11pm
Review 73:location of the cabin 20m from the beach
Review 74:A real shame.. This place could have been okay but looks like its been left in the hands of kids to run. Needs a lot of maintenance and better facilities for the price
Review 75:The location is amazing being in amongst the ancient rainforest
Review 76:Not much, it rained at night and the cabins are economy but comfy and great for this area of the rainforest. They have double bed and 2 singles (the girls said their beds were hard, they have tin on the base). There is a large enough deck with table and chairs. Coin laundry was $4.00 a wash and $4.00 to use dryer.
Review 77:Loved the location. my husband and I shared with our teen daughter and friend. Was a tight fit however it was ok. We found it economical and the kids really liked the campfire on the beach, some backpackers played the uke and sang, another couple played guitar and it was really a great night under the stars right on the beach which is just off the main dining/bar area so you can wonder around on the beachfront. We didn't swim in the beach due to stingers. Food was great, not hot breakfasts on offer everyday, best to ask & there are other eateries (whet). There is a lot to see and do on the Daintree River, such as croc tours, swimming upstream in lovely (but Stoney) waterholes & visiting rainforest areas and wildlife parks. We saw the Cassawary bird in the Port Douglass Wildlife park but that's another story.
Review 78:Quite possibly this is a younger person's place. The weather made have exaggerated this, but the restaurant was at best, basic. The pool area was uninviting. Still, the stay was great!
Review 79:The cyclone threatened, our chance at experiencing the Barrier Reef was cancelled, and the rain came down, but our stay at Cape Trib Beach House was one of a kind. The atmosphere of a rustic shack in a rainforest on the edge of the beach was perfect. And when the sun returned next morning, alone on the beach with our plastic chairs sitting in the ocean, our coffee was one of those perfect moments. Truly a memory.
Review 80:Real value for money here. Pictures do not do this cosy hostel justice. Friendly staff, awesome pool, table tennis, darts, pool table, outdoor bbq and the most well equipped and clean kitchen I have seen. Location is central as well.
Review 81:Some lazy staff members; didn't want to make any campfire, because there was no wood in the forest!!!! Not. even possible to book for 1 person on the same day for the guided night walk. We only stayed for 1 night, so were quite disappointed.
Review 82:The locatio, location and again location.
Review 83:Would have liked to have stayed longer!
Review 84:Amazingly friendly service! Matt was very accomodating and pleasant at check in and the rest of the staff very relaxed and welcoming too!
Review 85:The beach is just 2 minutes away from the cabin.Unmatchable location, beautiful and exotic beach, very friendly staff. The food is surprisingly good, and room is surprisingly clean and comfortable given the remoteness of the location.
Review 86:Our booking was stuffed up and the only reason we chose this place was for the beach front cottage- which had been double booked. We later found out the people who got the room we booked had walked in that day and got it. However- we were given a free bottle of wine and dinner as an apology. The rooms feel a bit like prison cells, they are very dated and a bit grubby. So if you want 5 star dont go here. IBut if you are like me and my hubby you will make the most of it and appreciate the location
Review 87:Staff were super friendly and tried their best to look after us during our stay,
Review 88:The shared bed camp style accommodation.
Review 89:The location was spectacular! The rooms were rustic and open to the environment as much and or as little as the guest wants..
Review 90:Rooms were dark and dingy, & unfortunately unclean. Expected a much nicer room for the price.
Review 91:Location is excellent for the closeness to the beach.
Review 92:The decor and facilities in the rooms were quite outdated and not appropriate for the cost. You are paying for the location and not much else. Nothing else about the place stood out as being particularly good or bad.
Review 93:The location was lovely with access to the beach very close to the rooms. The bar/bistro looked like a nice place to eat, although we did not try it.
Review 94:Needs Wi Fi in the bar area! only available outside reception St Crispins Cabins could do with a spruce up for the price you pay
Review 95:Staff were great made us feel like family location! location! location! 60 steps to the beach and in the rainforest Nightly beach fire Meals and the Bar No phone reception -- GREAT
Review 96:Water being turned off in the morning when people wanted to shower.
Review 97:Closeness to beach was amazing while still in the rainforest. Restaurant provided nice meals. Office staff were excellent.
Review 98:Our cabin was a bit basic.
Review 99:The location is stunning. The atmosphere very laid back and chilled. Friendly staff everywhere. Its remote and peaceful with amazing access to the great beach.
Review 100:Lack of sleep due to creatures inside - toilet was broken and had dripping water all night. Food was at best fair pub quality and had run out of some of the menu. St Crispin cabins although ideally located, we in need of an update. For $200 a night, We expected a lot more.
Review 101:We had 2 of the St Crispin cabins - ideally located within 20 metres of the beach. The sunrise was awesome on Cape Trib beach.
Review 102:Long walk from car to cabin with luggage, limited choice of meals, 2 options were sold out leaving items selection. Communal dining area looking tired could do with a spruce up.
Review 103:Bonfire pit on the beach, birds
Review 104:price was for cabin that sleeps 4 so as we were only 2 we paid double what others did. We didn't know this before booking and our expections based on price were then not met.
Review 105:location, staff
Review 106:Car parking away from cabins inconvenient for baggage and those of us with sore knees. Wifi only available outside(literally) of reception, with no table to work from.
Review 107:Close to the beach for walks and swims. Large communal kitchen or meals available in dining room/bar. Helpful staff for arranging excursions.
Review 108:Fridge was v useful but a little cruddy!....
Review 109:Location,location,location. Beautiful, unique spot... Nice meals at "one of a kind" jungle bistro Beautiful beach and rainforest. Fabulous restaurant nearby.. We just keep coming back! Staff generally very sweet and helpful.
Review 110:We could hear our next neighbours a bit and we could smell the smoke from their cigarettes.
Review 111:The private beach front and rainforest surroundings. It was nice to have the option of cooking our own food or ordering from the restaurant.
Review 112:The beachside bungalow, which turned out to be a tacky four guestroom shack made from plywood. A noisy refrigerator spoiled our night's sleep.
Review 113:The rain forest location close to the wonderful beach.
Review 114:The place really needs a fresh up badly! Everything is worn out!
Review 115:Nice surroundings!
Review 116:Big hill to carry luggage up and down
Review 117:Location location location
Review 118:Expensive for the room.
Review 119:Just next to the beach so amazing location.
Review 120:Room tiny, old wooden hut with tin windows, no comfort whatsoever, it can hardly be advertized as a hostel. Worst stay I can remember.
Review 121:Location only
Review 122:Location was amazing!
Review 123:Mattress very poor quality
Review 124:Location great food perfect and friendly staff
Review 125:Bathroom felt old & worn out, limited dinner time (2hrs).
Review 126:Liked the location
Review 127:No social activities
Review 128:Great location
Review 129:Room small dirty mouldy.Restaurant food poor.Over priced in all aspects of the resort.
Review 130:Location great Staff friendly
Review 131:Nothing
Review 132:Beautiful beach
Review 133:overhead shading clothes need a good clean
Review 134:location , and that care has been taken of the rainforest so that much birdlife was obvious to hear
Review 135:Peace and quiet
Review 136:chilled out management style. great location. awesome forest and beach.
