Reviews for Hotel de Magneet
Review 1:Could be noisy as room was on ground floor next to the street.
Review 2:Great location near the harbour - good place to start an evening walk and explore the town. Easy walk to the station. There was a place to lock the bike up off the street. Shower was great - plenty of room and hot water
Review 3:croissants / pastries ran out pretty fast at breakfast! very poor access for anyone in a wheelchair - not helped by the road next door (which had the on-street access to the outside rooms) being utterly dug up. steps from outside rooms to hotel / breakfast very steep
Review 4:the owners were wonderful - nothing was too much trouble (even fixed our lap-top's wi-fi connection!).
Review 5:Relaxed but efficient with helpful staff. Appreciated the tea/coffee making facilities in our room. Good location-easy walking to all areas of town.
Review 6:Located an easy walk from the railway station, steamtram museum, harbour and eating places. Our family room (room 24) was perfect for our needs. Good choice of items at breakfast. Rob and Yvonne are very pleasant and helpful and Rob knows lots of historical and local information.
Review 7:We loved this hotel. We got it at the last minute literally and the girls who worked there were the best....very helpful and friendly. Nothing to not like great room great breakfast great service!
Review 8:Internet was very flaky in the apartment we rented at the top of the building.
Review 9:Great buffet breakfast. The owner had written a self-guided walking tour of Hoorn. he printed an English version especially for us. We used it the next day to explore the beautiful town. Excellent tour!
Review 10:The location is easy to get in and out of by car, parking across the street in a lot. Very convenient walking into town to see all the beautiful architecture and canals. Breakfast was delicious, and the staff amazing.
Review 11:Nothing!
Review 12:Very friendly and helpful welcome - even though we made a mistake with our booking it wasn't made into a problem. Great location near town centre and old port. Would happily recommend.
Review 13:Nothing
Review 14:Good hotel, very conveniently situated in the pretty town of Hoorn. It is run by a pleasant young couple. Our room was a good size with a nice bathroom with bath and shower, one of several in a small courtyard. There were little tables and chairs outside if the weather was warm. Breakfast was fine. Lots to see in the area and plenty of places to eat in the town. Parking for 10 cars I think in private area over the road. That was full one night but there is free public parking about 250 metres away.
Review 15:Friendly staff, comfortable room, good breakfast and the location near the waterfront was great. The owner was friendly and very knowledgeable about the history of this wonderful town. Eating along the waterfront was perfect.
Review 16:No real double bed, mattresses too hard. Of course very small room as so often in Holland. We regretted there was no dinner option on the premises.
Review 17:Friendly, helpful managers. We got a quiet room with no stairs to reach it, through the back garden. Pleasant terrace surrounded by camellias but lacking privacy. Good breakfast. Private parking.
Review 18:This is an excellent small hotel with great character within easy walking distance of good restaurants. Very hospitable owners who really care about their property. It was an excellent choice for us.
Review 19:the warm friendly welcome ,attentive service, advice what to see, food, relaxed atmosphere location The Magneet was easy to find ,parking close by,very comfortable beds ,and very quiet at night.Lovely walk round the harbour before set evening meal, nicely presented ,great value for money
Review 20:We had a lower cottage room with a little courtyard to the rear. We were able to park our motorcycle right at the secure back door. Too tight for anything wider than a fat boy. The room had everything needed. Was very clean and comfy. Staff are amazing. Food great. Close to harbour and everything else. Was very happy here and would go back.
Review 21:There was a short walk to the car park but this part of the town was built before cars were invented,so its no great surprise that the buildings are not totally focused on housing cars.
Review 22:Very convenient location, close to all the town's attractions and facilities and just far enough away to be very peaceful. The staff could not have been more helpful.
Review 23:Nothing.
Review 24:Good sized clean room. Separate access. Comfy bed. Quiet. Excellent location close to harbour and restaurants. Private parking. Very good value for money

Review 58:N/a.
Review 59:Close to town centre & everything is walking distance. Owners very friendly & helpfull. Good good. Enjoyed the stay - thanks. Yoki
Review 60:The Coffee could be better, but, perhaps i am too pretentious in that case!
Review 61:went there because the 1/2 Maraton-Run. Nice Event. Nice Hotel. Very helpfull Staff...
Review 62:There was nothing we did not like.
Review 63:The owners and staff made us feel important to them and enabled us to enjoy our time so much in their hotel. It was very clean and comfortable and the meals were delicious. The location of the hotel could not be bettered for both the town and the harbour areas. All in all the hotel offers everything a guest expects and more!!
Review 64:The staff was friendly and helpful, gave my wife and I excellent directions and helped us find what we were looking for in Hoorn. Easy transit to Amsterdam via the intercity train.
Review 65:The furnishing of the rooms was a bit outdated although everything worked well
Review 66:Friendliness of the owners, outstanding breakfast, very good position, free wifi and perfect organisation and place to store our own bicycles; very spacious rooms
Review 67:The quiet room in the nice little houses with garden and flowers. Excellent breakfast! Good travel tips from the friendly staff! Parking facility, and close to the town center.
Review 68:Having to leave so soon !
Review 69:The staff were genuinely very welcoming. Gave lots of good advice on the local area, resturants, attractions, cycle routes, town firs etc etc. Mixed nationalities and several returning customers.
Review 70:As always we were welcomed and looked after very well indeed, I am looking for ward to our next trip so we can meet the new addition to the family!
Review 71:Breakfasts excellent but not really geared up for evening meals
Review 72:Position on edge of lovely town & beside the inland sea. Perfect cycling country. Friendly staff & good facilities.
Review 73:It is close to the harbor and you can find some good restaurant there. You can use terrace too in front of the room. Room is clean and the bathroom is renovated.
Review 74:I think this is one of the nicest hotel I have ever stayed. Good breakfast, clean rooms, good location, nice city. And the very warm welcome from Rob and Yvonne, the owners.
Review 75:Access to the rooms was down an external staircase and through an open courtyard which could be uncomfortable in rainy conditions. Occasional vehicles and guests entering through an adjacent street entrance, were somewhat disturbing during the night.
Review 76:The hotel is managed by a family and the welcome was good and quite personal. First impressions were good. Our room was comfortable with a good bathroom and nice canal view across the street. We did not use any facilities, except breakfast which was quite good.
Review 77:- There was quite a contrast between the nicely designed living room (good couch, flat tv, dvd player...) and the bare bedrooms.- The stairs were steep and a bit tricky for very small kids. You have to be careful.
Review 78:+ Fantastic welcome by a very helpful, friendly and kind staff, especially with our kids.+ Apartment was very well furnished with fully functional kitchen (we cooked there our own dinners) and comfortable. + Great breakfast. + Perfect location to visit the town as well as tour around North Holland.
Review 79:It was easy to walk there from the town centre, but tricky to find when driving, even when we'd been there a few days. That's down to Hoorn's one-way system rather than the hotel itself, though.
Review 80:- The layout, with independent rooms around a safe, quiet courtyard. No stairs/lifts/corridors to contend with, so ideal for anyone with mobility restrictions (& also handy for smokers - easy to pop outside!). - The breakfasts were great: lots to choose from, freshly prepared & plentiful even on days when the hotel was very full. - The staff were friendly & helpful, attending promptly to a small problem we reported. - Free wifi worked well & the free car park just across the road was a real bonus.
Review 81:Room was located at the rear of the hotel in a seperate building. Not a significant problem - just be aware
Review 82:Good location close to the harbour. Hoorn is a lovely town. Staff were friendly. Room was a good size and bathroom facilities were good. "Free" WiFi.
Review 83:Our stay at hotel de Magneet was lovely and the manager was so helpful to everyone and couldn't do enough for us. It is in a great place close to harbour and centre. We would stay there agan.
Review 84:A small independent hotel, ideal for a short break in the historicharbour town of Hoorn.Only a short journey by train from Amsterdam yet a world away from the hustle and bustle. It takes approx 10-15 minutes to slowly walk from Hoorn Station or catch bus #14. There is no suitable bus service back to the station. It is a 5 minute walk to the lovely harbour area. Breakfast was good, as was the little courtyard area adjacent to the rooms.
Review 85:A little old fashioned.
Review 86:Comfortable. Hotel is made up of houses joined together. Excellent situation close to Hoorn's traditional harbour brimming with traditional boats, historic buildings and a large choice of good restaurants. Useful free parking.
Review 87:Bit of a walk to/from railway station. Bus service circuitous.
Review 88:Pleasant room. Good breakfast. Manager and his wife very helpful providing information and even driving us to Hoorn station when no taxi available.
Review 89:This is a lovely small inn with easy driving access and free parking (look for the Hotel de Magneet parking sign across the street and just down from the hotel then park behind other buildings). We had a room off the beautiful patio. Everything is spotless, the bathroom is very up-to-date, the young couple running the inn are helpful and charming and the breakfast was very good and was served in a pretty dining room. The location is great - just out of the hub-bub of the city center but within a few minutes walking to the old harbor and the center. This is not a large or luxurious hotel but a well-run and very comfortable inn that is a very good value. We would definitely stay here again.
Review 90:I would consider this accommodation as more a 5 star hostel than a traditional hotel. The rooms, while spotlessly clean were pretty basic. The downstairs bedrooms were very dark and while our bedroom was in the attic and bright, it could only be accessed from a side door which was on a different street to the main entrance to the building. The stairs to the bedroom were unbelievably steep and certainly not for the faint hearted. For breakfast, it was necessary to go back out onto the street, walk around the corner and access the building from another street. We arrvied about 10.15pm on a Saturday night and the hotel bar was closed since 10. On the Sunday, Rob told us that the hotel would be closed after breakfast as this was their only day off. We had elderly people with us and had hoped that they could sit and relax in the hotel bar during the day and watch the Euro matches, but this was not an option.
Review 91:Rob the owner was very helpful and polite. He was extremely pleasant and made the visit enjoyable. The bedrooms and bathrooms were spotlessly clean and the continental breakfast was very good and served in a very nice dining room. The location of the hotel was excellent and there was a very nice courtyard garden which was sunny and welcoming. Suitable for young couples who intend being out and about all day and simply need a place to 'crash' at night.
Review 92:This should be called a hostel not a hotel. The premises closes at 10.00pm every night and all day Sunday so the only access we had was to our bedrooms. A group of 6 of us including a 90 year old and 84 year old travelled together. When we arrived Saturday evening at 10.30pm there was nowhere for us to sit and chat as the hotel was closed. The only option was to go to our bedrooms or walk approx 500 metres to a local bar for a drink or cup of tea. Hotel facilities usually include a lounge where people can sit and chat. After breakfast on Sunday the hotel closed again until breakfast on Monday so there was nowhere to sit and chat again. We didn't see this information on booking.com site. We were advised that it was on their own site.
Review 93:The staff were friendly and helpful, the bedrooms were very clean.
Review 94:Location was excellent; staff were friendly, welcoming and accommodating; the room was clean and modern, and spacious!!, considering we were in the Netherlands and in a family room with 4 beds. Would highly recommend Hotel de Magneet and would love to stay there again!
Review 95:There is a steep metal staircase which is outside that you need to taketo get to your room. The staff was helpful getting our luggage to ourroom. The room was small.
Review 96:It is a sweet family run hotel with excellant service. Outside of ourroom was a small patio set in a small garden complete with a fish pond. The location is good.. It was a nice walk along cobbelstone streets tothe habour and the shopping area. The town was very pretty. It remindedme of Brugge without the tourist.
Review 97:We only stayed one night and would have loved to have stayed longer!
Review 98:The place is lovely and in a great town. We were very comfortable, feltsafe, enjoyed the breakfast and the ease of the location.
Review 99:The owner / manager was very friendly / welcoming. He spoke very good English. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was better than most hotels I stayed in - a help-yourself buffet! The bathroom had excellent fittings and little luxury touches... My favourite hotel out of the whole trip (beating 8 others).
Review 100:Very comfortable room. Breakfast was very good. Good location.
Review 101:The owners, location, rooms, service. A great place and great people
Review 102:A bit too dark in my room, and very small bathroom. Sparse
