Reviews for Amarela Resort

Review 1:I like the overall ambiance of the place, it's slightly secluded and quiet. The homey and Filipino theme appealed to me a lot. The have a library, a mini art gallery and garden where they get their fresh produce. The rooms are nicely done and clean. Despite having one restaurant, there are good food choices worth a few days of stay. Staff are very accommodating and helpful. I was able to arrange a beach dinner for my girls on the last night.

Review 2:The service was slightly slow in the evening but there were a lot of customers at the restaurant. The breakfast was good but nothing out of the ordinary.

Review 3:Loved the view from the room, with bougainvillea all over our terrasse it was gorgeous. The pool was also very nice and the whole hotel was very laid back and not crowded at all vs what I expected. The staff was nice too very polite and smiley, helping as much as possible. They also arranged a van for us to drive us to tagbilaran for free. Also really enjoyed the ping-pong area, nice moments spent there!

Review 4:Our standard room was really dark with rather old furniture. Staff (eypecially in the restaurant) are not well trained and asked us for the room number about 3 times during every meal The food was nothing special and did not fulfill our expectations (almost as if no trained cook is preparing it)

Review 5:The pool and the garden are nice

Review 6:Overall is good. The location is a little remote.

Review 7:The service, the people and the view is very good. The queen bed room is a little small for 2 people.

Review 8:Stocks in the bar and the wine list could be better.

Review 9:Peace, beach, staff and the fact that you can get to the main resort easily ( especially if you have a motorbike)

Review 10:We did not like the staff at the reception and at the restaurant ! Not professional as we expected from other reviews.

Review 11:The location is perfect , peacefull place to relax

Review 12:- Easy to hear noise from next room, because of the locked door which was connected the two rooms.

Review 13:- Beach - Food in hotel's restaurant - Staff discretion and friendliness - Hotel's architecture and interior design

Review 14:I didnot enjoy the balcony due to machinery noise from the kitchen all day long, because amarela suitroom was just above the kitchen.

Review 15:Beautiful building and environment. Wooden furniture. Lovely ocean and garden view. Tropical flowers in the garden. White beach with powdery soft sand.

Review 16:Noise from children staying there particularly from the pool first thing in the morning

Review 17:Very secluded but only ax short taxi ride to Alona with its bars and restaurants

Review 18:Here's what some might consider cons: Amarela is a 5-minute taxi ride away from "the action" i.e. Alona Beach, which has the majority of the island's hotels and restaurants. However Alona has a well-deserved reputation for being noisy at night, so I consider the distance a plus. Also, private beach in front of Amarela isn't good for swimming because it's shallow for a long way out. That's common at other beaches, too, and Amarela does provide free kayaks for guests to use.

Review 19:We've stayed at a number of locally owned tropical resorts and Amarela is by far our favorite. Positives: terrific location, gorgeous well-kept grounds, quiet and efficient air conditioning in our room, clean infinity pool and above all the staff. They were all so welcoming and friendly -- and that didn't change once in the week we stayed there. We ate daily in the hotel restaurant and always tried the Filipino specialties. Really, really good food! Seafood in particular was superb. (Also, try the local rum on the rocks. $1 a shot and so smooth.) Can't recommend Amarela highly enough. We considered it good value for the $.

Review 20:A bit pricey for Philippines. Also, the hotel restaurant should get a new chef. Overall, though, I would recommend the hotel to anyone.

Review 21:Loved the hotel. View is amazing. Private beach area, regularly cleaned. Lots of activities can be arranged for you by the front desk. Clean rooms. Wifi everywhere round the hotel. Pool is small, but the pool area is pretty and relaxing.

Review 22:Swimming pool is quite small for the size of the hotel.

Review 23:Staff is very kind. Restaurant food is very good. Library with books and DVDs to borrow. Acces to the beach and free kajak

Review 24:Amarela's rates are a bit higher if compared with other hotels of the same standard rating.

Review 25:I love the sense of privacy one gets at the resort-- there are only 20+ rooms, so guests always get the best service from hotel staff; the resort also has its own private beach and pool. All dishes we tried at the resto were very good, of good serving size, and reasonably priced. Best of all, local art and culture have been incorporated in all the design details of the hotel. Will definitely come back and refer to friends!

Review 26:Restaurant can get warm since not air conditioned and since open air, can easily attract flies and insects to dining area. Walkway steps down to pool and beach area has many sharp and uneven rocks for a pathway that can hurt feet especially for kids. Beach itself gets easily dirty with moss and debris but is constantly being cleaned by staff alsom

Review 27:Service was excellent. Rooms spacious and very clean and since got 2 rooms one corner and another beside, had great views of pool and seaside. Infinity pool well kept, and sized just right especially for families with kids and has private walkway down to own private fine, white sand beach proximity well planned. Hammocks, chairs, boats and other snorkeling items provided. Food at restaurant although a bit pricey was very tasty and good variety offered. Decor all over has great charm and character and invites one to relax and explore the house and grounds around. Overall will return and recommend highly.

Review 28:Remotely located private resort located amazingly beautiful beach.

Review 29:Very expensive for a quality pretty basic. small swimming pool, restaurant not very good, and far from all (at least 3 km from everything)

Review 30:exotic and charming hotel , very relaxing and clean pool

Review 31:None!

Review 32:The staff are accomodating. The place was well maintained as well as the ambiance is comforting.

Review 33:Beds weren't that comfy and they were so small!

Review 34:Close to the beach, quiet, great food.

Review 35:Very friendly staff. Spacious rooms. Great location.

Review 36:We would like to have a small supermarket close.

Review 37:The garden, buildings and beach. All the treewood details and feeling of perfection.

Review 38:Beautiful place. Very nicely decorated, good food, great staff, and just gorgeous surroundings!

Review 39:Comfortable beach area, cosy room and tasty restaurant

Review 40:Prices of hotel food is bit expensive respective to out

Review 41:Personel is great

Review 42:I liked that it made you feel at home while on holiday. The staff was incredible! And the hotel it self soooooo beautiful. Loved it a lot!!!

Review 43:The whole staff in the hotel, reception, restaurant ... is very friendly, helpful and adorable and thoughtful. The beach location is wonderful for snorkeling, you can see so many things. And when the tide is rising you can enjoy swimming. Really nice DVD collection!! Definitely, our best spot for holidays in Philippines.

Review 44:I think the food there can be better if improved.

Review 45:Facilities there are very good, especially when you focus on details. And also the staff there are so kind and effective, to my surprise, it's deserved to be the best hotel I have been to in Fillipine, not because how big it is or how advanced the facilities are, but stay there is one of my best experience.

Review 46:Waiting 4 hours to get my room even though it was available... but it is the policy, deposit authorization on my account without even asking, credit card terminal not working so had to go all the way to Alona beach to get some cash, very slow service, very disappointing room vs the pictures (very dark, need to be refreshed), far from Alona beach, not a smile or any attention when leaving...

Review 47:Beach, pool, location, free use of snorkeling equipment and kayak, rather quiet place

Review 48:Nothing to Complain!

Review 49:Very nice Pool and Beach. Clean And comfortable rooms. Good trained staff. Free Airport Transfer. Very nice resort with beautiful garden. Excellent breakfast and good wifi in the Restaurant. Would definetly come Again.

Review 50:Food is good and not pricey but not the best we had in the area..

Review 51:The hotel is beautiful, inside and out, everything to the little details. The staff is always available - 24hr, warm, welcoming, helpful and knowledgable! Best white beach in the area, white blinding sand with clear water. Peaceful and mind setting ...

Review 52:Nothing-it was an amazing experience!

Review 53:I loved that this beautiful resort was owned and run by Boholanos andnot any of the Europeans that have seemed to have bought up much ofPanglao and Bohol & are ruining the local scene. You can go to any4-star resort anywhere and they all look the same. Amarela is dedicatedto preserving and honoring local culture through their tasteful andimpeccable designs, use of antiques and pieces of vintage Boholanohomes. As someone with family from Bohol, it really captures the magicand beauty of this unique island. The service was great and the roomsimpeccably beautiful and clean! We'll be back again!

Review 54:Collection of DVDs is old Magazine in the room was old

Review 55:The room- very nice layout, comfortable Bed was comfortable Shower outside the bathroom Delicious food The pool Friendly staff

Review 56:Nothing

Review 57:Very nice and quiet place, ideal for families with children and for relaxing. Staff is very friendly, taking care for all your needs. Facilities are nice and clean (checked on daily basis) with beach towels provided. Resort has private beach with sun beds for your use and exclusive swimming pool, mostly appreciated in the evening hours. If you need anything non-standard (e.g. wedding preparations in our case) everything was prepared in time and according to our needs. I definitely suggest this resort for vacation.

Review 58:The road to Amarela Resort. Too bumpy.

Review 59:I like the staff.A very big thank you to Marlou,Bryan, chef and front desk staff.Very helpful and polite. Will try their best to fulfill all your requirements. Wonderful people. A relaxing place for family with young children.

Review 60:Far from everywhere, A daily shuttle service to Alona beach or Tagbiliran would be nice

Review 61:Beautiful gardens, peaceful, small and personal, Rooms not huge but immaculate and comfortable Balcony with sea views DVD, good WiFi Lovely, friendly staff Nice beach

Review 62:Good hotel made from local craftsmanship. Excellent staff. Meals good quality and not expensive. Nice location beside the beach.Better than Alona Beach which is crowded with bars and noisy.

Review 63:Its hard to write anything negative here, hmm maybe they didnt have my favorite beer?

Review 64:It was incredibly quiet and peaceful there, no traffic or other distracting sounds, it is somewhat secluded. If you want to get out and experience activity or attractions, its very easy with their friendly and safe car service. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was good. The resort location and layout is very nice. I will definitely go back

Review 65:It's a little expensive for shuttle van to Alona beach.

Review 66:Everything is comfortable. Free pickup service when we chek-in and check-out. Natural and beautiful view. Food is nice.

Review 67:The bars on the public beach nearby are a bit noisy on weekend nights.

Review 68:A lovely resort, which felt like home. Beautiful grounds, nice pool and beach. Excellent and friendly staff. Wish I could have stayed longer.

Review 69:It will be good when Panglao's extensive road rebuilding programme is complete. Hardly the hotel's fault though!

Review 70:We chose Amarela as we liked the traditional look of the place. It proved to be a beautifully converted former holiday home, with many original features still in place, exuding an air of culture from times gone by. We had booked the Amarela Suite for five nights, which suited the four of us just fine. Although the hotel is not on the main drag, we spent our time between the beach (NB: water pretty shallow and seaweedy, but good fine sand) and the nice swimming pool, when not on trips arranged by the hotel (Countryside, Panglao and Bay Cruise). We found the food a bit hit and miss, but by the end of our stay we had worked out what to order, the kids loved their ube and mango shakes, and on our final night we shared a terrific one kilo steamed crab with coconut chili sauce. Recognising that this was the off-season, and the hotel was not too busy, we nevertheless were impressed by the friendly and efficient staff attitude in all departments throughout our stay.

Review 71:We liked everything. If you want to have vacation of your dream, go to Amarela. Perfect staff, room, food, beach, excursions, hotel design. Perfect climate. There were storms on Bohol, and sunny here. We thought of travelling further, but remained in Amarela. Unforgettable. Salamat po, that means thank you in Sebua n.

Review 72:It's a simple and small family run hotel and everything was just perfect - the beach side location is amazing, the staff super attentive, the rooms clean and comfortable.

Review 73:everything was fabulous!better than amorita because you have the beachfront private, shade with coconut trees where you can have a relaxing moment and most of all budget friendly

Review 74:A bit costly. The "private" beach of the hotel rather small. Left and right is public and therefore not clean (trash). Careful with some shells offered on the beach, they are prohibited to bring out of philippines.

Review 75:Perfect location, nice pool and beach. Very quiet area. Amazing staff. Good food.

Review 76:The hotel and the facilities are very very nice and we enjoyed it a lot, as well as the tranquility and the overall look and feel of the hotel. The breakfast was also excellent and there is nothing to complain at all.

Review 77:We stayed here only two nights, and unfortunately had not enough time to enjoy all the this beautiful hotel has to offer.

Review 78:The nice and cozy family owned hotel, authentic designer interior. Very nice lobby with the library and huge collection of DVDs for rental. Nice private beach, hammocks, cool pool. Very convenient to stay if you wont to go on tours in the island. Friendly staff. Excellent restaurant.

Review 79:The room is too simple and too small for the price we pay. Value for money index is low.

Review 80:Everything is just ok, but nothing extraordinary.

Review 81:Best stuff ever, beautiful design, Best Food, Great location, quiet

Review 82:Exelent hotel in wonderful island. Very helpful staff, very nice garden, very testy eat. We need to come back!

Review 91:service staff cleanliness food
