Reviews for Hotel Centraal
Review 1:Staff were pretty surley (although the Dutch in general set a pretty high standard for amiability-would have ranked them as normal in the UK!). Public areas of hotel in dire need of an upgrade.
Review 2:Room had a proper double bed-not two singles pushed together. Room was a good size and much nicer than the manky reception area and hall ways that you have to pass through to get to it.
Review 3:I couldn't sleep, the mattress was old, very used and full of holes. Also the bottom sheet was not a normal sheet, it was a mattress cover. We asked about it, and the woman told us that it was normal and it was de same in every bed. But for me it is not normal, mattress cover is rough and it's very unpleasant to sleep on it. Old shower, the door didn't close well and the bathroom was flooded. Noisy fridge, we had to turn it off. For standard rooms: bad value for money
Review 4:Nice breakfast with many choices. Good location.
Review 5:the room was bright, clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was generous and unhurried this hotel deserves ten out of ten
Review 6:Rang up to say we were going to be late, gentleman at reception stayed up just for us and was very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was very good, lots of choice and good quality, thank you!
Review 7:Nothing. This isn't really a dislike but a caution. The stairs in all Dutch property are very steep with narrow treads. Okay if you are used to ships like me but you need to be careful if you are not. If the ladies are wearing some fancy foot ware be extra careful when you are coming down the stairs.
Review 8:The hotel was just great, traditional Dutch building with just the right amount of modern features. The hotel is in a great location, 5 mins walk from the railway station, 10 mins walk from the harbour, which was good for us as we were catching a tender to take us to an offshore radio station anchored 3 miles out to sea. The hotel is on the edge of town but next to a canal and inner harbour but only 2 or 3 mins walk from the start of a sight for sore eyes. Streets full of canals, bridges, tree-lines streets and tree-lined canals with bridges opening regularly to let boats pass along the canals. Lots of great places to eat and good pubs. There are lots of shops in Harlingen too. The Hotel bar is also a good place to gave a drink. The hotel has brilliant friendly staff especially Chris who is the owner with a good sense of humour. The hotel provides a hearty breakfast with a good selection of eggs, bacon, cereals, fresh and cut fruit, yoghurts, cheese, cold meats, fruit and ordinary breads, vegetables, juices, teas and coffees. Our room was on the top floor with a double aspect window. It was a decent size with a comfortable bed with en-suite facilities. We will stay there again. Harlingen is a lovely city. The weekend we were there it had a fisherman's festival with street vendors, a fair and live music until 3am, the place was just buzzing with people eating, drinking and dancing, laughing and generally having a great time. All this and not one bit of trouble and only a small, very discreet and good humoured police presence.
Review 9:Updating the room would make it even more appealing...remove the rose border and "canopy" over bed and add crisp white linens
Review 10:Location is excellent. The room was very clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable and we had adequate linens and amenities. A full breakfast included. All in all a great value.
Review 11:smoking rooms
Review 12:Staff were eager to make our visit comfortable. Breakfast buffet had abundant choices and food was of excellent quality.
Review 13:The breakfast was amazing, the position as well
Review 14:Room was pretty small.
Review 15:Friendly staff. Close to shops and restaurants, Albert Heijn supermarket, Harlingen Haven station and ferry terminal.
Review 16:Kerkklok achter hotel
Review 17:Kamer achterkant erg veel lawaai vanaf steeg
Review 18:Staf, schoon, laagdrempelig
Review 19:The bed mattress is too soft and sinks in the middle cause too old.
Review 20:The Friesland wonderful landscape and beautiful villages.
Review 21:Nice big room with a big bathroom.
Review 22:nothing
Review 23:First time in Harlingen and really appreciate this location almost in down town. Nice staff indeed and you feel like at home. Tot ziens
Review 24:breakfast was good, the bed was good
Review 25:There is no elevator because it's a protected building. The stairs are steep and narrow, but the staff did offer to help with luggage. The comforter on the bed was not the type with a removable cover, so I'm always concerned about the cleanliness. Hairdryers are not provided in the rooms, but can be requested at reception.
Review 26:The hotel is located close to the shopping/restaurant/harbor, but not so close as to be bothered by noise or crowds. On-street parking was readily available at 2.50 euros per day in a meter. Food in the restaurant is good. A fan was provided which helped since it was very warm. Staff was present during normal business hours.
Review 27:The walls appeare to be "wooden", you can here other people around you.Agree with really narrow and steep steps.
Review 28:Nice setting and good location, clean rooms and surroundings, great breakfast
Review 29:Superb nice hotel with good rooms, friendly staff and great atmosphere. Super Breakfast in such a good environment can it be better? Easy to park outside, walking distance to everything so we can really recommend this hotel.
Review 30:We loved hotel Centraal. But, we were very unhappy with Booking.com! I was looking at options based on US $ and Hotel Centraal was listed as $105. When I checked out I found out it was actually 85 Euros and that is WAY more than $105!! You need to update your math abilities. Great location---we could walk everywhere.
Review 31:Steep stairs to first and second floors and no lifts so not suitable for elderly people. Extensive breakfast, but if you have breakfast after 9.00am then cooked food is over-cooked.
Review 32:Excellent room - newly decorated, clean and spacious. Good value for money. Good location with parking in the street outside at a cost of 2 Euros per day.
Review 33:Quirky bedroom with nautical theme but if you have mobility problems mention them when booking as the 2 flights of stairs are very steep and winding. Breakfast was very good.
Review 34:Very friendly service, excellent breakfast and very comfortable rooms. It is right i the cetnre of Harlingen with easy access to port, shops and easy access routes.
Review 35:curtains in our room were dusty
Review 36:nice rooms, good breakfast

Review 38:Harlingen is worth of visiting!
Review 39:i liked everything about it and the staff are friendly
Review 40:The water is really soft, so take a good shower at home as you may want to avoid use of soap. Not the fault of the hotel, but good to know.
Review 41:No water in the toilet, just in the room.
Review 42:Wifi in rooms, air condicioner in rooms, big rooms
Review 43:no dislikes
Review 44:Central location in easy reach of local bars and cafes
Review 45:friendly service, and nice relaxing atmosphere
Review 46:Clean, friendly and well appointed. Good breakfast
Review 47:Nice clean breakfast room. Helpful staff
Review 48:Clean and pleasent.Easy to walk to our Grandchildrens home.Parking a bit of a problem.
Review 49:Bathroom was small. Could hear other people staying in adjacent rooms quite easily. Room decoration very outdated.
