Review 1：exercise room still needs some attention. Needs AC, tv, small towels to wipe down equipment after use, hot tub that works.

Review 2：comfortable beds, good AC, nice clean pool, good quality restaurant with attentive staff, reasonable prices. Great location, close walk to everything we wanted to see.

Review 3：Don't get discouraged by the less than enthusiastic reception staff. They've been around a while! Bellhops are nice, though! Don't forget to return the remote control when you check out!

Review 9：AC unit in room was missing knob to control high/low setting. Only ran on very cold. Dining room does not serve fresh milk/cream for coffee; only packets of powdered creamer. One would expect better from a restaurant like this. Rooms for two had only one hand/face towel, which is not very sanitary. Only one small roll of toilet paper in room for two. No spare roll.

Review 12：Good location: it's close to the center and not too close to the seaport so its "aromas" don't reach the hotel. There's a decent pool.

Review 28：I chose this hotel because it offered free internet access through ethernet in bedrooms and I needed the Internet during the night (because of time difference with my country). We were given a bedroom with no ethernet plug, and the WiFi in the bedroom didn't work. They promised to let me switch rooms the next day. The next day, after spending more than 3 hours in the reception during the night (to go online), the personnel told me that they might not be able to switch me after all. So I yelled a little, and three hours later I got a new room with an ethernet plug. I wasn't able to go out and enjoy Veracruz until 2 pm though because of all this...

Review 29：Very clean. Location is great! Some staff are great and helpful... (Others are obviously not happy to be there and rude.)

Review 30：Our room had no toilet paper or water. They refused to provide us with any. They said we could go to the Oxxo, if it was still open (it was after 11pm), in a dingy dangerous area). They were smirking and smug as they refused us even the most basic human decency. I wrote management an e-mail to complain, and naturally they never responded. Folks, avoid this dump LIKE THE PLAGUE -- the single worst laziest ugliest meanest least responsive most unpleasant staff I have ever encountered in twenty years as a travel journalist, with over 80 countries and 1000 hotels under my belt. STAY AWAY!!!

Review 31：Nothing. An absolutely abominable place, perhaps the worst hotel I've ever had the misfortune to get stuck in.

Review 32：Although the website warned you would be charged for the first night if you did not show, we arrived one hour after check-in started and my credit card had already been charged as if we had no-showed! This was extremely frustrating because it is a US card that charges a foreign conversion fee. I had not intended to use it to pay, just to hold the room!

Review 33：The hotel was well located for exploring the historic center of Veracruz, though not very convenient for the beach. It was clean and comfortable. Parking is free.

Review 35：For everyone, but especially the solo traveller, Hotel Baluarte is a great choice because of the location, as it is close to the Malecon, the zocolo and the boulevard along the water. It is kept in very good shape.

Review 36：Very well located. You can walk to the sea front and also to the Zocalo. At the same time, away from hustle and bustle of city centre. The restaurant is good and there is room service! What more do you want?

Review 37：Clean & comfortable, great location just a few blocks from the malecon & zocalo. Nice (small) rooftop pool. The staff was friendly & accomodating. Was a family-friendly place, we saw many business-type travelers & Mexican families on vacation. I did not see any other obvious foreigners there & am not sure if English is spoken (we speak Spanish fluently so this was never an issue for us but may be for other people). I would definitely stay there again.
