Reviews for Boutique Hotel Sterrenberg

Review 1:Great position to visit the park and the foundation. Excellent restaurant, especially for dinner. Very nice winter cozy atmosphere over Christmas holidays.

Review 2:My only comment would be that the decor is a bit contrived and trying to be "boutique" but falls short. Our room view was also of a cemetery! On the upside, it was quiet and puts life in perspective ;)

Review 3:The food is excellent and the hotel itself is very comfortable.

Review 4:Heater stopped at night. Noise from wind through the windows.

Review 5:Convenient location to visit the national park. Facilities - swimming pool, sauna, steam bath, etc. Smell of woods everywhere.

Review 6:Excellent food, supeerbly presented. Very well situated for Kroller-Moller. Very useful and helpful phone information on transport options when booking.

Review 7:Perfectly located close to the Veluwe National Park. A small hotel with the facilities I'd expect from a larger hotel group: indoor heated pool; sauna; steam room and GREAT restaurant.

Review 8:1. Small print: sauna facilities only included in room charge when booked directly via the hotel 2. Weak forced ventilation in room, no on/off switch 3. Floors very noisy, loud movement of room occupants above us 4. Conference room in same corridoor as bedroom, was noisy at times, especially when people take phone calls in the corridoor

Review 9:Friendly staf; very responsive to special diet requirements Quite surroundings Good Wifi Nice menu, good cook

Review 10:The location, facilities, room, staff, dinner and breakfast... Everything was splendid. The staff were extremely kind, and their services were meticulous. Moreover, we were offered personalised service with regards to our inquiry of the origin of a cheese on the breakfast table. We really enjoyed our stay.

Review 11:Nothing at all.

Review 12:A gem of a hotel llocation quietly in the green, just a 500 meters walk from the western entrance to the national park Hoge Veluwe. Warm welcoming atmosphere, cosy lounge, top rated restaurant with a tasting menu (recommended). The sleep is devine too, especially when you wake up to birdsong and getting in the mood for a great day outdoors.

Review 13:All was fine (just a detail : need to always re-connect to wifi can be somewhat annoying)

Review 14:Truly wonderful total-package : great location (next to the park), comfortable room, professional staff and outstanding restaurant

Review 15:The only thing that was problematic was that the Wifi kept cutting off.

Review 16:The room was comfortable, clean and the staff was very helpful. Breakfasts were terrific as was the dinner we had here. The location was great, too.

Review 17:We booked a room with garden view..the "garden" is actually a graveyard view..which is a bit unexpected. Besides, the sauna was not working!!! also no staff around so i cannot find somebody to ask.

Review 18:Bed was very comfortable, room was big and spacious. Restaurant was excellent! we had a 4 course meal and a bottle of wine..really enjoyed it. The hotel is nicely decorated and cozy as well. Love the fire place.

Review 19:Nothing.

Review 20:What a great place to stay and relax. Very comfortable and beautifully decorated hotel. Excellent breakfast and dinner in the restaurant. Great sauna and swimming pool. Perfect location to visit the Veluwe Park. Friendly staff.

Review 21:The 2015 summer was a good year for wasps. Had to be careful outside even with all the insect traps set out for them.

Review 22:Breakfast was sumptious. Location next to entrance to Park Hoge Veluwe and Museum Kröller-Müller is ideal.

Review 23:Very comfortable hotel within half-mile of entrance to Hoge Veluwe national park (borrow free bicycle at entrance to ride within the park, e.g. to Kroller-Muller Museum). Superb fixed-price dinner, and lavish breakfast for the price. Friendly helpful staff.

Review 24:Facilities are good but could be better for a 4 stars hotel (wellness center) No air conditioning in the room (only possible to decrease the temperature from 5 degrees so when it s 35 outside, it is problematic.

Review 25:Staff is extremely welcoming and helpful. Location is great Good care of sustainbility in their policy and practices

Review 26:The swimming pool was not really clean. For a junior suite, I would expect at least a small refrigerator. Size of the junior suite was the size of regular room of other hotels.

Review 27:location, stuff, and food!

Review 28:There is literally nothing I can fault

Review 29:The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, food was lovely, rooms comfortable and well designed. One of the best hotels I've staid in.

Review 30:Overpriced for junior suite, and there is no way the ground floor suite was 37m2 as advertised. Would be very surprised if it is anything over 20m2. There is also no thermostat in the room so you have to fiddle around the radiator knob to get the right temperature for the room - resulting in a hot or cold room until we got it right. Surely not something that should be when you pay 170 euros per night. I never had this issue in much cheaper hotels I stayed in. No coffee or tea in the room.

Review 31:Excellent service from hotel staff, and very friendly. Good value breakfast, if not too exciting. Excellent restaurant for dinner, but very far from cheap. Great location. Flexible with times, i.e. for breakfast and check out.

Review 32:Wish we would have spent more time here

Review 33:Greeted at the door with asparagus soup and whole stay was wonderful. We had perfect weather to enjoy the park and museum. However with bad weather lots to do within the hotel.

Review 34:none.

Review 35:I was planning to book a hostel in amsterdam ( a single bed in 10 man dorm) and it cost more than what this hotel. So i planned to come here since I planned to visit hoge velewe the next day. The whole trip is really good and i really enjoy staying in.

Review 36:High design hotel in great location for De Hoge Veluwe NP. Helpful staff, excellent breakfast, top-quality dinner. Otterlo is a charming & friendly little town. In the park, hop on a free white bike to tour the park and visit the art museum.

Review 37:The food at the restaurant was fantastic and the staff did a great job at meeting our very difficult wishes (I am gluten-free, my girlfriend does not eat meat and fish) and did it all with a genuine smile. Furthermore the location is fantastic, next door to Park Hoge Veluwe and nearby other beautiful nature where we had a great run while spotting deer. Great to afterwards be able to jump into the pool and enjoy the sauna.

Review 38:Standard rooms little disappointing; not as cosy as deluxe. Not all staff friendly. Bit aloof.

Review 39:Location is great. Beautiful surroundings. Atmosphere in hotel great. Library and fireplace in particular.

Review 40:We expected better coffee given the restaurant was so lovely

Review 41:Staff were all attentive and friendly. Location by Hoge Veluwe National Park is perfect. Dinner at the onsite restaurant, Timber, was well worth the money.

Review 42:We loved the comfy bed and modern decor (and colours) throughout the hotel, the decent breakfasts, the relaxing pool and spa, and the friendly staff. There was tea and coffee on tap in the library throughout the day, a warming fire in the snug by the bar and gorgeous modern furnishings and textiles throughout the hotel. We had bad weather some of the time, but when we needed to go to the bus stop in the middle of a hail storm the receptionist kindly arranged (to our surprise) for one of her colleagues to take us in their van instead. This hotel is only 10-15 minutes walk from the entry to the Hoge Veluwe national park and the setting was perfect.

Review 43:The hotel is modern and has been nicely decorated with a funny twist. Guests are welcomed with soup that shows the quality of the kitchen. The food is truly excellent. The forest is within walking distance. We will return again soon!

Review 44:Wellness facilities are present but not that cosy to hang around.

Review 45:Excellent dinner, friendly staff, excellent bed, nice interior design. Very close to the entrance of the Hoge Veluwe park.

Review 46:The Pool and Sauna-Space is a bit small. It's no real Wellness-Hotel, but if you want to spend one ore two hours in the Sauna or the Steam-Bath it's good.

Review 47:Very beautiful hotel with a young and fresh style. The best ist the dinner: it's expensive but completely worth it. Even the vegetarian menu is delicious and surprising. It was Wellness for mouth and stomach :-) And not to forget: The Kröller-Müller Museum and the National Park are good for visit.

Review 48:Everything was good really. Staff could be a little more attentive but that's a minor point. Wifi didn't always work.

Review 49:Beautifully decorated hotel, very nice swimming pool and small but nice wellness area wich we had totaly for ourselves, awsome! Free coffee and tea in the library, flexible with requests on the menu, close to park Te hoge veluwe, free parking, bathtub, fair prices, nice pillows and good bathroom facilities.

Review 50:I don't like the T-Mobile hotspot wifi. It doesn't work properly. Hotels just need to provide in good working, free wifi. I wouldn't go to this hotel for business because of this.

Review 51:Friendly staff, good facilities, good food, the value for money is very good.

Review 52:I'm allergic for house dust mite. This is hardly ever a problem in hotels as they are normally kept cleaner than you do your house. However, in this hotel I needed to use medication.

Review 53:Lovely hotel and surroundings. Great food!!

Review 54:The gym was really small. WiFi connection was quite poor in the room.

Review 55:Perfect setting. Nice and cosy lobby area and bar. Good and fresh breakfast. A very good boutique hotel overall! With regards to facilities : Nice pool, nice sauna area (small saunas for maximum 2 people but they are not really busy so you can really enjoy a private facility), a ridiculous gym (you can't really have a work out there unless running or rowing is your workout). Amazingly clean hotel. Room was spotless. We were staying in a cozy room and it was just fine. It is not too small and had a good bathroom. For 2 people with small luggage it was just fine.

Review 56:Absolutely everything. The comfort of the bed, the breakfats buffet, the facilities: sauna, pool, infra-red sauna..; everything was clean and perfect, the staff was helpful and freindly. and our dinner at restaurant TIMBER at the hotel was delicious.

Review 57:We didn't have dinner as it all looked a bit fancy for us and we only needed a light snack but the breakfast was exceptionally good. With our room window open it smelled of rich autumn countryside.

Review 58:Beautiful hotel near Hoge Veluwe entrance. Staff was charming & gracious with all my questions. Breakfast was very delicious, especially the bread! Highly recommend it!

Review 59:Only downside is the interior decoration that makes of this hotel a funny joke rather than a high quality place to stay.

Review 60:this hotel is perfectly located. Staff is gentle and attentive. Great swimming pool and spa. Our room was small but the bed was perfect. The quality of the food served is excellent. Only downside is the interior decoration that makes of this hotel a funny joke rather than a high quality place to stay.

Review 61:On first evening we had the main course. I had quail. Very nice flavor of the veggies but I was still hungry when I was done. Flavor, ambiance and service were very good, just a dish that was too little.

Review 62:Decor, pleasant personel, area, Well kept building, good bike, very helpful reception people, free wifi, welcoming environment. Excellent breakfast.

Review 63:That I had to leave.

Review 64:I was pleasantly suprised to find the hotel and small town of Otterlo so much a part of the lush Veluwe environment, very peaceful healing.

Review 65:The location of the hotel is superb. Right in front of the Hoge Veluwe National Park and the Kröller-Müller Museum. Breakfast is rich, the rooms are compfortable. We liked it.

Review 66:Found the duvet(?) too hot to sleep with at night. Would have preferred a sheet and a blanket...just a different lifestyle than we are used to.

Review 67:Also, in passing, I believe there is a spelling error, on the last line of your menu, or wine list. the word "advice" should read "advise". I know you are striving to be perfect !!!

Review 68:Otterlo is a charming truly Dutch village minutes down the road from the De Houg Veluwe National Park. This is a lovely spa hotel that is just on the edge of the village, even closer to the park entrance, with an open green space in front. Very quiet, modern, tasteful and clean, delicious breakfast! and beautiful outdoor seating - I especially loved the fresh sunflowers! Our room with a balcony was beautiful. The famous must see Kroller-Muller Van Gogh museum (and Picasso, Seurat, Rodin, Bourdelle, Giacometti, Marta Pan +++) is inside the park and only 5 minutes by car or 15 minutes by bike (free inside the entrance). Great restaurant in the hotel for dinner plus there are a few good restaurants walking distance up the road that appeared to very popular locally. As a Canadian/Dutch I also really appreciated the beautiful monument next door dedicated to our Canadian soldiers - some of whom are buried here. We rented a car - easy parking - but I also noticed a number of bus stops within easy walking distance.

Review 69:The dinner .It was expensive. The waitress kept us waiting a long time before taking the order. The food took a very long time to come and the main course of fish was indelible .We left it.The waitress was indifferent to my complaint. We then left without ordering dessert as we had been sitting in the restaurant for over 2 hours. We did not receive any discount on the bill.

Review 70:The room was very warm at night with no proper ventilation system. For the high price of the room we would have expected the bathroom amenities to have included fresh soaps every day and a bathrobe for the spa/swimming area.

Review 71:Great location to the Hoge Veluwe national park.Breakfast and dinner were delicious and the staff were attentive and helpful.

Review 72:Room a bit small, everything just fits Sometimes wifi dropped

Review 73:Stylish hotel and rooms Great breakfast Very good on site restaurant comfortable beds Locked bike storage

Review 74:The room is a tad too small, and the "boutique" tag is not really fitting.

Review 75:Staff were very helpful with our late arrival. The swimming pool is quite nice.

Review 76:No fans, no air-conditioning, no rack on which to place our suitcases, no secure screen door or screens on windows to enable us to get cool, fresh air during the hot nights, no ventilation. Broken lift when given rooms on floor 3 with heavy suitcases for travelling a long time unfortunate.

Review 77:Atmosphere, watching the chefs at their work in the kitchen, Breakfasts included generous portions, delicious selection of breads. Knowledgable staff for assistance with menu. Lovely range of outdoor, comfortable seating. Books available to read. Games also available.

Review 78:Nothing

Review 79:The hotel was excellent in every way, comfortable, unusual rooms, library with games and hot drinks, lovely pool and fitness facilities with plenty towels. Marvellous breakfast, friendly helpful staff. Excellent value for money.
