Reviews for Casa de los Suenos
Review 1:This is a "jewel" of a small hotel that exudes warmth, charm, and class. I consider this one of the last and great small hotels that I've encountered in many years of travel. Each room has a different, unique decor. I recommend a room with a sea view. Bravo!
Review 2:The walk to and from the restaurant may be difficult for some seniors and the disabled.
Review 3:Friendly, intimate location. Everyone did their utmost to make us feel comfortable. The rooms were uniquely decorated. The fresh coffee outside our door in the morning was a nice touch!
Review 4:This place is incredible!! The staff are absolutely amazing and so friendly. The owner (who is present on site at times) is very hands on and really understands what service is. I've don't have enough in my vocab to demonstrate how amazing this place is. The owner has spent the money in all the right places. The bed was so comfortable, the food is awesome, the staff are simply amazing and the actual park itself is relaxing, beautiful and fun. Thank you so much and a special thanks to Patty who was so helpful with numerous things. If you are doubting staying here then don't. It is as perfect as a place can be.
Review 5:The attention to detail, quality of the food and facilities at the hotel. Gonzo, Naim and Pablo were great from the staff. Gonzo got us a big cocktail on arrival.
Review 6:Nothing.
Review 7:Great Boutique Hotel with lovely rooms, all facing the Caribbean Sea and Cancun in the distant skyline. Great Waterfront Club which all Hotel guests can use for a discounted rate of 30 U.S. dollars which includes all equipment, sun beds and lunch and soft drinks, great value. We will definitely return when next on the Island.
Review 8:The lower pool and restaurant are nice but the music they play down there is so obnoxious that we couldn't even stand to be down there. Night after night they play Frank Sinatra, Barbara Steisand, beach boys, or incredibly irritating "Caribbean" music. The same songs over and over again. It would be so much better if they played Mexican music (we are in Mexico after all), or something less dated and cliched and turn the volume down. I felt like the music was geared toward a much older audience. People in the island don't want to go to the park/resultant because of it. On top of that the bat has a big old TV that is also blasting. The food is okay, very over priced. Also, if you want to use the facilities and water sports equipment you have to pay $30 a day and it's open to the public. There seems to be a big disconnect between the lovely hotel and the water park. I was very disappointed about this aspect of our stay.
Review 9:The actual hotel is lovely and the staff are great.
Review 10:The best experience I ever had in a hotel, was worth the money we paid, the food was amazing as well. If we ever get back to Isla this is the place we will stay at.
Review 11:Lots of nice little touches. Complimentary drink delivered outside our room each morning before breakfast then a lovely snack left in the room in the evenings!
Review 12:Beautiful views, amazing food, wonderful service! We will definitely return! Staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay was exceptional. 5 plus stars!!
Review 13:Breakfast and staff excellent. Bed very comfortable. The view from our room was beautiful. Not sure about the water park ......we enjoyed it but it was pretty quiet still. Curious to see how it will fit it into overall ambience of a boutique hotel.....
Review 14:The service at the restaurant was slow. I think a buffet for breakfast would be better. Not sure about the impact of the waterpark. They were building a zipline at the time of our stay so there was a little noise from the construction.
Review 15:The room was extremely comfortable. The view was amazing.
Review 16:When we arrived we saw that there were constructions at the place, we were very surprised because we didn't see any notice at the website. We are very disappointed because we came from far away. After we complained the Manager gave us better room where we couldn't see the people who worked at the place. But the noise wasn’t pleasant
Review 17:The colors were beautiful and the hotel is amazing, there is an exclusive park where you can rent kayaks and snorkel, which is very comfortable, the restaurant is nice and the area is very pretty. the room was very comfortable and the bed was great. it was clean and nice.
Review 18:Room overall was poor, shower rubbish and electrics on lights dangerous. Bills converted to dollars at poor exchange rate, refused to let me pay in local currency
Review 19:Bed was very comfortable, most staff friendly
Review 20:Major construction works going on right now which are very noisy and mean there is no space to quietly sunbathe. It looks to be set to go on for some weeks..
Review 21:The coffee and orange juice every morning was a lovely touch. The rooms were thoughtfully decorated and beds v comfortable
Review 22:- works ongoing - room was just next to the pool and common toilets, close to the reception. probably the worst room of the hotel
Review 23:- nice people - great spa treatments
Review 24:A bit more expensive than others, but worth it if you have the money to spend.
Review 25:Location was off the beaten path in a beautiful area. Food, drinks and facilities were great.
Review 26:The servers in the restaurant tend to hover. It got so irritating that we skipped breakfast on the last morning.
Review 27:The hands-on management, the beautiful, eclectic artwork in all the suites, the awesome views of the ocean, the resident pussycats, the coffee and juice delivered to your room every morning, the thorough and efficient maid service, the bicycles.
Review 28:asked for hot water to make team and got warm nearly room temperature water. no refreshments in the room. room did not resemble what we saw in pictures. hair dryer did not work properly. no phone to call reception in the room so every time we needed anything we had to go down and ask. very noisy hallways and you can hear any noise outside your room. limited food variety.
Review 29:some staff were friendly. nice scene and location.
Review 30:The hotel is not right at the beach. There is a rocky path that leads to the shore. During our stay there were big constructiong works going on. So it was even harder to get to the water. It is indeed a nice place, but on the island you will find other hotels with a better value for money.
Review 31:Great Hotel. Very confortable beds. Our room had partial ocean view, priceless. (it made us forget that it was placed just next to the toilets) Nice infinity pool. There is snorkeling or kayaking gear you can borrow and the breakfast was rich and tasteful.
Review 32:The pool is directly in front of the bar/dining room/lounge during the refurbishment of the larger decked area with sunbeds , bar and restaurant so we didn't feel comfortable lazing in our bikinis! There is no direct access to the sea( and no beach) from the property just now as their pontoon needs repaired. Although the building is beautiful , it's largely open air which is an issue when it rains!
Review 33:The rooms are large, with comfortable beds and their own terraces( though some are directly onto the communal pool area so have no privacy) . Decor is extremely attractive, all roomss and public space face out over the sea.
Review 34:They had major construction going on. We would hear power tools, hammering, sledge hammers knocking down a wall, all day long. The dock was torn up so ocean access was very limited. They should have told me this before I booked or at least told me when I was checking in.
Review 35:Outstanding view, friendly staff.
Review 36:The staff, amenities and location were beyond my expectations. Room was spacious and comfortable. The private dock was spectacular with amazing snorkeling. I wish I never had to leave, it really was a dream house. Can't wait to return soon.
Review 37:Wonderful architecture, loved the bright colors. Staff very friendly and helpful, enjoyed talking with Patty (owner) and Jade (her son, concierge). Love the infinity pool. Very pleasant and relaxing
Review 38:far from city
Review 39:Nearby the hotel there is a fantastic water park (forgot name) Staff a girl was extremely attentive
Review 40:No hot water!!!
Review 41:Nothing
Review 42:Staff Amenities Location View from the room Comfort bed
Review 43:Poor service from waiting staff (e.g. Asking us to carry our own drinks from the lower bar to upper bar when seated at the upper bar, needing to be reminded/asked again to address issues such as a cold shower on the first day) The cleanliness of the deck area with broken loungers and rubbish left from the previous day was not what would be expected from a $300 a night place. Food was not particularly good quality - e.g. Coffee mate given with hot drinks rather than real milk. It was also very expensive - twice the price of some of the very good down town restaurants. Whole hotel looked a little tired - this all would have been find if we were paying half the amount we were, but for the price we were overall disappointed.
Review 44:Beautiful location Helpful concierge staff
Review 45:Location is quite far from the center and the main beach (but Taxi or Golf Cars are available all the time)
Review 46:Ocean view King suite has an amazing view, nice and comfortable rooms (the bed is just perfect), coffee and orange juice was brought to the room in the morning, pool was amazing, quiet and perfect to relax, service was friendly and helpful all the time, restaurant offers good, but not really traditional mexican dishes
Review 47:Very poor breakfast service on the last day. Asking twice for drinks - then again for toast which came -with no plate - no accompaniments. Small niggles but the most expensive place we stayed and the poorest service at breakfast! The cost of the pickup for airport - big mistake - we got there for a quarter of the cost. Do not be bitten!
Review 48:The room - harmony - amazing! Beautiful view - very well appointed - huge room. The restaurant staff - so exceptionally helpful -they took so much trouble to meet our needs! Lovely place - they need to sort some niggles.
Review 49:Floor in the room was dirty and was only cleaned after having asked for it twice Shower takes a long time to provide warm water Had to pay immediately after arrival after a 20h trip though they had credit card details Overpriced with 350$ per night
Review 50:Very beautiful house and setting Lovely rooms with cosy balcony Great breakfast and other food Great location: calm, but with taxi fast in town
Review 51:My only complaint was that it was so far from North Beach.
Review 52:Absolutely stunning sunsets. Great snorkeling off the pier. All of the staff were very friendly and inviting.
Review 53:As it is situated on the south part of the island, it will cost you 80 pesos for each taxi ride -one way- to the city. With some extra attention to details, it might be considered as "luxury" (which would then justify the VERY high rates, far too high for the category and the services provided). What should be improved: a bathtube, a better shower and shower curtains (the one provided is in plastic...), constant warm water, slippers needed, matching bathrobes (they do have bathrobes but they are completely dismatched), new toilet seats (it is broken in our room, quite surprising that the housekerping service does not notice). A special attention should be given to the service: the housekeeping persons are not recognizable (it feels strange to find a young guy in his jeans who is in your bedroom when you come back from a morning walk), there was dust over the higher furniture, the waiters are not smiling or attentive and can barely speak English (I can speak some Spanish but as the menu is in English, it is not easy for the communication). I did not appreciate to be reminded all the time that the service was not included (they stamp this in red on each one of your bill, including the one of the included breakfast >> first time ever that I am asked to give a tip for an included breakast!). I understand that tipping is upon each one's decision but I believe that the key to ensure a tip is to provide good service, rather that to stamp this in red on all your bills. Working in the hotel luxury industry for more than 10 years, I know exactly what "luxury" hotels look like and how much they can charge. Our room (Sol) was right beside the public bathroom. Not nice...
Review 54:The "Casa de los Suenos" on Isla Mujeres is a nice charming hotel, situated on the south part of the island. There was a beautiful sea view from our room (Sol), cute small swimming pool, nice sized bedrooms with elegant déco, performant A/C system, fresh squeezed orange juice + coffee placed in front of the room each morning, evening service (not everyone like mint chocolate but the attention is there),...
Review 55:Beautiful setting and view both from our room, the affinity pool and the sea side restaurant bar. The breakfast was amazing every day. We had the most relaxing time. This is the most amazing hotel we have ever stayed at. Really friendly and helpful staff. We also enjoyed the canoeing and snorkelling opportunities at the hotel too.
Review 56:The general staff were not as friendly as expected. There is no sandy beach by the pier.
Review 57:The overall hotel experience was great. Very clean and pretty room. Good breakfast and super facilities (beach bar, pier, free kayaks & snorkel gear). Highly recommended.
Review 58:The restaurant is overpriced. The hotel is far from the center (which may be a pro for some) and the rental transportation arranged by the hotel felt expensive to us (50$ for 24 hours)
Review 59:Beautiful place!! Gorgeous views Great clean rooms Great scenic pool Overall great and efficient service Free bike
Review 60:They don't sell big buttle of water They don't have a beach whit a send
Review 61:We really love the staff There wes a awesome room awesome shower Really clean The breakbeat was great They have a free kiak so the visiters can swim to the Deep and be inside the turquoise see
Review 62:The air con in our room was not very reliable You will need a golf cart to get around as it is the far end of the island
Review 63:beautiful boutique hotel with nice personal touches comfortable rooms and good facilities. Breakfast menu was extensive and all food was beautifully presented
Review 64:Breakfast is included, ordered off the regular menu. Happy hour is half price appetizers. Staff has ownership of the facility and are trained to accomodate and look to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Felt very secure and safe on the island
Review 65:Not that it was bad but since the hotel opens to "dayvisitors" who use the pool and imbibe, I sometimes could not get abeach chair on the deck by the pool. Your space is very limited on thedeck but you might want to reserve the choice lounge chairs in theshaded area for hotel guests only. However, I did like that by 4:00 pmthey had to leave and that they went to the cafe down the stairs.
Review 66:This hotel beats the larger hotels on the island and given its location, allows for true rest and relaxation as opposed to a busy lobby with toomany guests. The staff was excellent. I will return to this hotel. Fyi,this is Lucia Villasana responding. I did not receive an invite to dothis survey.
Review 67:Not enough privacy in the pool area. A half wall between the dining and the pool area would help. The size of the Presidential pool could be smaller and the common pool larger.
Review 68:the staff was very friendly and their English was quite good. The rooms were small but very nicely decorated and very clean. The Presidential Suite was awesome! But way too large for just 2 people that it slept. It truly is like having your own home with a wonderful view!!
Review 69:No tea/coffee facilities in room.
Review 70:Great location, lovely immaculate room. Friendly staff. Very quiet location but only a short taxi to town or ferry.
Review 71:This is the first time we receive such a poor treatment, unfortunatelyduring our Honeymoon. A breathtaking view on the ocean in the breakfastarea is not enough to define a location a Boutique Hotel with luxuryaccommodations, especially when you are in a Caribbean island and thisis the common landscape you expect. The room they assigned to us (Luna)did not correspond to the pictures provided, moreover wasn'tcompliant with the description: queen size beds instead of king sizeones, no private terrace, no ocean view. This is the only case ofdowngrade we've never heard about during a Honeymoon and although wecould even understand sometimes overbooking can happen or guestsexpectations cannot be easily satisfied, this is not the correctapproach to solve problems - not created, but paid by guests. Last butnot least, they asked to pay the total amount in advance and from thatmoment didn't care about our complaint. While checking out, we askedto the possibility to speak about the payment of some extras with theManager, since we wanted to ask a reimbursement before and he didn'tshow and asked the concierge to call the Police, while some other memberof the staff intimidated us about Police in Mexico. We won'tcertainly come back to this Hotel and would not recommend it to anyone!Just a lot of arrogance and lack of professionality.
Review 72:The food and staff were everything we could have asked for and our trip was very relaxing and beautiful. Everyone went out of their way to make sure our vacation was one to remember.
Review 73:If you want sandy beaches the best we found is on the north cost, 15 min away in a golfcar.
Review 74:Perfect hotel - very romantic and very nice staff. We had the presidential suite and that is unbelievably nice. If you are looking for a quit place to celebrate your honeymoon we can only recommend it. The staff was very helpful arranging everything we needed during our stay. Our only regrets…. We should have stayed longer.
Review 75:The fact that rooms were confirmed via email from bookings.com and whenthe guest arrived hotel was overbooked.
Review 76:Accomodating to add sleeping arrangements for those that werewithout rooms
Review 77:Nothing!
Review 78:Location and overall ambiance
Review 79:location
Review 80:Food...
Review 81:Room, view, staff!
Review 82:It's the bedst place you Can go
