Reviews for Hotel Relais Antica Masseria

Review 1:Air conditioning did not work most of the time. It was difficult for me to sleep. We complained at the reception and the answer was the problem had been caused by a thunder storm the days before. Even when the air conditioning worked eventually, it was only capable of dropping the temperature down some 5 degrees or so. Having 36 °C outside -100 °F-, this is a problem.WiFi. There was no wifi connection for a couple of days. When there was, the transfer speed was 0,30 Mbps Max. Absolutely insufficient unless you only use it for whatsapp only. Some days, no hot water early morning for our shower. There was after breakfast. It was only warm at that time.Fireworks at 01.00 a.m. Nice if you have insomnia or like nightlife. Otherwise they will wake you up because the rooms are only partially soundproof. And at least when we were there we had to suffer from 3 wedding celebrations just next to us. Loud music until midnight, DJ and fireworks at 1 am -not all of them, fortunatelly-.Fridge. In our reservation a "minibar" and a "fridge" was mentioned. There was only a minibar in our room and I even had to move it to another plug myself because it was not working when we arrived. The minibar was roughly ok for a coke -unless you are American!- but clearly not ok if you needed to keep a yogurt for a baby regrigerated for example. There was an empty space for another minibar or fridge but if it was no longer there.Very limited space. The family room we booked was not really suitable for a baby cot. I attach a photo.Poor maintenance. A shelf was broken in the closet and several plugs did not have power. The sat TV did not work for 2 days. We also had a couple of blackouts lasting some minutes. No bathrobes altough included according to our reservation. Same thing with DVD/CD player. We complained constantly about all these issues at the reception but they were able to do little.

Review 2:We loved the swimming pool. It was accesible to the public in general but the best place was reserved for the hotel guests. It was not crowded, not even in Ferragosto. It was perfect for our kids. If you practice aquagym, there is a daily class. We liked the restaurant even more. There is a 3 course menu for 25 € which is clearly worth the price. Service is efficient and proffesional. My family would have preferred a quicker service but it was quite ok for me. The staff helped us keeping some baby stuff refrigerated to avoid the problems with our minibar.

Review 3:Breakfast was exceptionally tasteless (how do you make a cake without any taste?). Air con was outside temperature; fridge was normal room temperature and deep freezer (where we could put our cooling elements) was of freezer temperature. Cramped rooms and wardrobe was literally falling apart. In the restaurant we had to endure the music from 3 different parties at the same time. The swimming pool was open for locals and very well used by them. On the way back from the swimming pool (cap obligatory for non-locals) we were told to make a detour, in order not to disturb an ongoing party.

Review 4:Bathroom was ok; polite waiters.

Review 5:Interesting setting. Positive attitude and willingness to help by personal. You really feel welcomed. Not really a minuss, but be aware that there is nothing else around in walking distance.

Review 6:Stupid "security" rules concerning swimming pool (strict time limits, swimming caps) ... one can not use the pool to refresh oneself at early morning nor for realaxing after a hot day of sightseeings ... Who woud lay at the swimmingpool in the middle of nowhere during the day? - Even if it looks beautiful, very clean, very expensive and very useless. Hotel rooms could be larger; the hotel has a huge area, large parking places for hudreds of cars but a "double bedroom appartment" consists of the smallest possible boxes.

Review 7:Nice and quiet (at low season, at least). Excelent kitchen and good service of the restaurant close to the hotel (offer for hotel guests at 18 € includes more than we normally eat incl. wines). Location acceptable for travellers with cars.

Review 8:Difficult to find, no address on gps, only a road between two town. But road signs help if you do not drive too fast. Wifi is only in common parts, but Internet access is possible in the rooms through cable.

Review 9:Nice place in the middle of olive trees, with no city around, and not too far from the caves of castellama and the trullis. Well equiped with small clean appartments, a beautiful swimming pool and a big buffet breakfast (only sweet). Note : this is part of a complex, there was a big party when we arrived late at night.

Review 10:Everything else - false claims re facilities, non-existant sound proofing between rooms, incredibly poor breakfast (with the exception of the 1st day), no management - shall I go on??

Review 11:Design & setting

Review 12:No facility to make a hot drink in your room.

Review 13:Nice location with a good complex of guest rooms. Staff helpful.
