Reviews for Grand Hotel Chiaia Di Luna

Review 1:Great older style Hotel with Fantastic views of Ponza. Rooms were tiny but tidy. Would definitely stay here again, loved the location and the style of the hotel. Aperativo hour at the ajoining bar with killer views was the highlight!

Review 2:The room is small, the bathroom is a bit old and the toilet make a lot of terrible noise. The toilet of other rooms can be heard. Especially at night. The restaurant and bar were closed on saturday and sunday in september 26-28

Review 3:The location of the hotel is very beautiful. The shuttle bus is available from 09:00 o'clock every 30 min. You can walk from the port to the hotel in 10 minutes. Breakfast is good.

Review 4:Everything was perfect. great location and a very good breakfast. Upon arriving I was waited by a free shuttle service to the hotel which also worked every day in every 30 minutes. I liked the hotel very much and will return to Ponza.

Review 5:The rooms are small, poor wifi in rooms. Air conditioning didn't work and we had to move to a second room, although they did discount the price for the inconvenience.

Review 6:Great views from the bar, nice pool area.

Review 7:Everything about this hotel is just EXCELENT, any word wouldn't describe how great experience it is to stay here! Beyond expectations!! The only bad thing about this place, is having to leave it!

Review 8:No bad experiences whatsoever. However, while we did have a balcony, itwas very small and did not benefit from sunlight, so sitting out in itwas not an option. One other small item;- For our second week, forbreakfast we missed the lovely large platter of slices of melon andpineapple, notwithstanding the large bowl of mixed fruit also available. We did not especially like the cocktail/music bar separate to the hotel - we felt it was out of place in the surroundings and for the clientele.

Review 9:The island of Ponza was everything I expected it would be and more, ithaving been strongly recommended by my aunt & uncle from their manyvisits years ago. We loved the hotel, really friendly and efficienthotel staff at every level, superb location of the hotel and within easywalking distance of the town - a welcome bit of excercise, in additionto the ready availability of a shuttle bus to and from the hotel to thetown which is a great service. We only ate twice at the hotel in theevenings over a two week period, because it would always be ourpreference to sample and experience the local restaurants and cuisine, which we are happy to say did not disappoint us.

Review 10:The beach bar area is beautiful but the volume of the music is turned up to nightclub levels from 7:00pm, making it impossible to enjoy an appertivo and have a conversation. They would do better to provide light lounge music (as they do at the Raya in Panarea) until 10ish and then turn the volume up for those wanting a nightclub environment. We preferred to walk down to the port and enjoy one of the excellent bars down there.

Review 11:We would have preferred more specials/changes to the lunch menu. We had a sea view room next to the bar/lounge, so with the windows open the music was very loud. This was unfortunate considering our air conditioning barely worked. The bar/lounge was great when they weren't playing that techno/club music, but I imagine this is what most of the people there were looking to hear.

Review 12:The pool was nice, but a little too salty compared to the sea. Breakfast was one of the best we had during our 2 week stay in Italy.

Review 13:Nothing it was great.

Review 14:The elegance, the great breathtaking views of chaia di luna, the pool and different places one could sit to see spectacular sunsets, the friendly staff, the great massage one can get from Mimmo, the shuttle drive by Carlo that picks you up at the port and goes into town about 4 times an hour as the hotel is up a fairly steep but walkable hill. The fact that on the last day you can leave your luggage at the front desk all day before you depart and hang out on the terraces, use the pool or just go into town and come back to retrieve them. The owner or manager of the hotel an older woman was very nice. The breakfast was great. the piped in bossa nova music.

Review 15:We were very unsure of what to expect from Chiaia Di Luna as it's hard to tell online what a place is really like. However when we drove up (courtesy of the hotel) to the hotel we both became very excited when first we saw the location and the views and secondly we saw the tasteful design and layout of the hotel. It has the coolness of an Ibiza soundtrack without the party element. We were there for our honeymoon so this was perfect for us. When the staff heard we were newlyweds they gave us champagne and peach juice which we enjoyed as we watched the sun set on the breathtaking panoramic view. The staff are very professional and helpful and I also highly recommend taking an evening meal in their restaurant. We will go back.

Review 16:WiFi could have been a bit better. It regularly dropped but was strting at the pool area.

Review 17:The free breakfast was fantastic with something for everyone! Really enjoyed relaxing by the pool. The view overlooking chiai di Luna was spectacular.

Review 18:The wifi is absolutely terrible, it would be better not to have it. The pool weirdly closes at 7pm which is a tad annoying given it's still super hot then in summer.

Review 19:The spot if just ridiculously beautiful, the views absolutely make it worthwhile staying here and town is easily accessed just down the hill via the hotel shuttle or on foot. Breakfast is of pretty good quality for italy, and the pool is pretty nice. The adjacent bar is really nice too.

Review 20:They promise a free shuttle from the port upon arrival but since the boat got in from Terracina at 10:30 pm, they said the shuttle service was not available that late. However there were 9 people arriving on that boat to check in the hotel. Seems to me they should have made the shuttle available based on ferry arrival times.

Review 21:Gorgeous location. Sumptuous lobby and pool area. Helpful front desk staff upon arrival. Outstanding breakfast and restaurant staff.

Review 22:perfect location.perfect hotel just amazing overall. iwould recommend this hotel 100%

Review 23:No wifi in room.

Review 24:Staff were helpful. Views excellent.

Review 25:maintenance and bed size/hardness

Review 29:Nothing

Review 30:The staff and the owners that make you feel at home. The location with great views, the food, the comfortable and spacious common areas.

Review 31:Poor maintnance, not very clean. Staff was usually unhelpful. With a little effort this could be a fantastic hotel

Review 32:Beautiful view, amazing location

Review 33:Hard beds recording to my wife but not for me

Review 34:Carlo the driver, super!!

Review 35:perfect location - walk into the town, out of the town for sunset views. great pool.

Review 36:Poor internet connection. Just few staff members speak English.

Review 37:The view, lovely separate houses. Friendly staff and the shuttle bus service included.

Review 38:The relaxing atmosphere and the position

Review 39:.

Review 40:The friendly reception at our arrival excellent during our stay. Superb cuisine.

Review 41:Poor customer service and attention to detail. Staff were not accommodating

Review 42:Location, views and setting

Review 43:Very loud and noisy

Review 44:The views

Review 45:Breakfast poor. Canned fruit and dreadful coffee

Review 46:Nice unpretentious rooms clean and well serviced. Friendly shuttle driver

Review 47:Everything was so good. Beautiful place, clean, friendly staff, delicous breakfast and dinner. Close to the port and the center but if you want the shuttle bus is also free. I recommend it to everybody.

Review 48:The rooms very small - we had a supposed deluxe sea view room but it was extremely small and the sea view from the room was minimal. The balcony was too small to use by one even less two adults. The standard rooms were larger and less expensive. The included breakfast was only fair.

Review 49:The public areas were very nice with excellent views. The service was very good particularly the shuttle service and porterage.

Review 50:The sunset bar begins at 7pm- they put out reserved signs at about 8pm. The first two nights we claimed our place early and enjoyed the sunset with a drink. However on the third night we arrived before reseved places were put out. Despited getting there early, on this occasion we were asked to leave our place for who we were told (by a staff member) "was a friend of the owner". We were asked to leave within 5 minutes. We explained we were hotel guests paying Euro350 a night to stay at the hotel. He still asked that we leave the area. He said he forgot to reserve our area earlier and would get in trouble if we did not vacate. We obliged as we didn't wan't him to get fired, but hung around to see who was claiming our area. It turned out he was lying to our faces. The people taking our place were friends of another staff member/ the DJ. We did not return to the bar and felt cheated. We had payed a lot of money for a very small room and cheated out of enjoying the best thing the hotel had to offer.

Review 51:The sunset and views are excellent. The sunset bar turns in to a popular nightclub in the evening. The pool is great also. You are simply paying for location and prestige. Carlo "the shuttle driver" is very friendly and helpful.

Review 52:The mattress in the room was very uncomfortable. The shower was tiny; it was difficult to move around, wash my hair. The desk clerk took my passport at check-in (to "fill out documents") and when I was hesitant to hand it over, I was assured that "we'll remember to give it back to you, don't worry." Well, when I checked out, I waited for someone to remember my passport, but no one did. Thankfully, I remembered to ask for it. But if I hadn't, I would have been really screwed! I didn't appreciate that at all; when I'm on vacation, to have to remember something as crucial as asking for my passport is one more thing I have to remember and not relaxing. And I didn't have any identification on me for the entire time I was there, not a good thing. The room was on the first floor, next to a passageway, and very noisy. I had to close the windows and turn on the air conditioning to block out the noise.

Review 53:The views were spectacular, the location was convenient, and the hotel had many different seating/lounging areas. The pool was also great.

Review 54:The mattress in the room was not comfortable

Review 55:Fantastic location with beautiful view just a short walk down to the town. I liked also the terrace area where one could relax; it was very nicely designed. The breakfast was good as well and the room was charming.

Review 56:Notice at this hotel. They put you in a room with no window at the basment, when you buy the room through Booking.com. Even not at high season. When I complained they gave me a room which was farthest on the hotel area.

Review 57:The hotel is very run down: the pool chairs and umbrellas are old and half broken, some of the common areas outdoors are untidy and work as storage place for old things, the outdoors shower is all full of mold and looks horrible. The shuttle service to the town: nice idea but insufficient (you always have to wait to get a ride), the little van is unacceptably old with chairs falling apart a no airconditioning, and they only take you half way to the center. Overall not in line with a 4 star hotel in our view

Review 58:The position is wonderful with amazing views of the island

Review 59:the view , the salad swimming pool , the silent space

Review 60:Probably the poorest wifi connexion around

Review 61:Probably one of the best views on the island

Review 62:We simply LOOOOVED this hotel and very strongly recommend it! What a fabulous find on a dream island!

Review 63:The beds were very hard, and there were no chairs to sit on that were comfortable.

Review 64:The location and the friendliness of the staff

Review 65:Just fantastic!
