Reviews for Hotel Del Campo

Review 1:Nothing to do with the hotel, but a 5 minute taxi ride to the old town, cost €15

Review 2:A very nice hotel, lovely helpful staff. The position is very good, and easy to find if arriving by car.

Review 3:We checked in and the toilet had leaked all over the bathroom floor floor the Aircon was also being repaired upon our arrival with the left ladder in the room the Aircon stopped in the middle of the night, we phoned them first thing and came and fixed it but it was a long hot night no apologies when we checked out why not tell people there is a problem with the air con or just give them a different room upon checking in? Spoilt the whole trip never again.

Review 4:The garden

Review 5:Staff were very helpful, polite and pleasant. Had large room with balcony, good position. Evening meal delicious and breakfast plentiful and tasty. Good to try different things

Review 6:Quite a distance from Sassi district if you are walking.

Review 7:Very clean, modern hotel. Everything you would expect from a 4 star. Supermarket very close. Excellent breakfast.

Review 8:Well outside the historic center. Restaurant closed off-season when I was there.

Review 9:A good moderate-price hotel, with a comfortable bed, adequate space, and good WiFi. Easy on/off autostrada.

Review 10:Some of the staff were nice but we unfortunately met also a lady who was a bit harsh and unpleasant in the reception.

Review 11:It is quiet and pretty comfortable

Review 12:The restaurant was closed!!! No reason given. This might not be a problem in other cases, but the location... there is nowhere nice to walk to; we ended up at a grocery store and bought some junk food for dinner. The hotel is off a very busy suburban street which is really not an interesting location. One must drive into town for a decent restaurant; the one we wanted was also closed, though its official schedule says it's open... We assumed that this was all due to it being September, but there were lots of people wandering the lovely streets of Matera...???

Review 13:Really nice hotel, well-finished, well furnished, very helpful and nice staff, not far from town centre, great looking rooms, wonderful bathroom, shower, very nice private patio, quiet.

Review 14:There is nothing around the hotel, so you are a captive audience. You will not be ably to walk into Matera. You will have to drive.

Review 15:The hotel is lovely. However, from the photo, we had expected an old hotel. The resteraunt is old but the rest of the hotel is new. Resteraunt is excellent. We had a lovely dinner on the veranda. The candles made it very romantic. The waiter was very attentive. Breakfast also very good. Felt that the young man on the desk was a bit offhand.

Review 16:Although out of the centre the hotel's location is excellent for access to the road network to visit the region.

Review 17:Amazing breakfast and beautiful grounds.

Review 18:Only downside having to bus to main centre, 20 minute ride to plaza republica

Review 32:Nice and helpful staff, clean hotel, very good value for money.

Review 33:A little too far from city center if you want to walk instead of taking the car or bus.

Review 34:On the entrance to the hotel they had two dirty smelly cat litter trays and spilt cat food on the floor! Absolutely disgusting.

Review 35:Parking

Review 36:The hotel is building a swimming pool, wich creates some noise in the morning. However, insufficient to not book this hotel! Will be a great value when finished!

Review 37:Excellent location as well for visiting Matera as for the surrounding part of Basilicata. Very helpful and friendly personnel. Good breakfast, great restaurant! Beautiful and cosy junior suite , spotless clean, with good bed and bathroom. A very good choice for tourists, great value for money!

Review 38:Car parking facilities were less than convenient for dragging heavy suitcases from the lower car park to hotel foyer as there was no ramp and steps were involved.

Review 39:Convenient for the ring road around Matera and for visiting the local sites. The hotel offered a very good menu option for dinner and also a good choice of breakfast fare including fresh orange juice on request. Restaurant staff were polite and attentive.

Review 40:A bit far to walk to historic center of Matera but only a five minute drive to easy parking by bus depot.

Review 41:Wonderful hotel, easy parking on site, 20 minute walk to city center. Excellent breakfast. Very good value.

Review 42:Extremely helpful staff with good advice and friendly service. Breakfast was excellent and the evening meal was good. Room was very comfortable even if at first it had a slightly corporate feel to it. Access to hotel very easy and good parking, which compensated for need to drive into town.

Review 43:Very comfortable room/bed. Reception staff very friendly. Free on site parking. Good choice at breakfast. 40 minute walk into town centre, along main bus routes.

Review 44:Nothing.

Review 45:Wonderful value for the price. This is a 4 star hotel for bargain price. Highly recommend if you have a car. Its about 2 km from historic center of Matera, about a 25 minute walk. Or driving is easy and park at the bus and train parking area.

Review 46:The full hotel was reserved for a wedding but decided to rent the remaining rooms to tourists at full price (70€/night). No one ever warned us and we had the worst night ever. Only manage to sleep when the party was over at 4am. When we asked for our money back, the hotel manager pretended she didn't understand English, nor French (despite the flags pinned on her jacket). A SCANDAL!

Review 47:Its a bit far (3,5km) from Materas' city historical center.

Review 48:A really value for money case!!A very high standard hotel, with excellent and clean facilities while roofed under a historical building, helpful and polite staff. The large and comfortable bathroom, is ideal for a relaxing bath after a sunny day in Sassi di Matera!

Review 49:The front desk clerk was a bit snotty and we could were not that impressed. It is a bit isolated if you want to go walking around to the city center.

Review 50:The hotel was great and good value for money taking in account the reduced rates. The breakfast was very nice.

Review 51:None

Review 52:The comfort , the cleanness and all the facilities. I had a very good experience of the warm welcome and assistance of the staff while I stayed during Christmas last year. Everytime I come to Matera this hotel is the first I think of and did recommend to all friends.

Review 53:The staff was very friendly, helpful and professional from arrival todeparture. Francesco arranged a day tour of Matera that was excellent. The restaurant staff was very accomodating and the gardens werebeautiful. Complimenti to the gardener!

Review 54:a bit far from the old part of Matera, but not an issue if you have a car.

Review 55:free parking; limited but very tasty breakfast; positive staff; the room was quite large, perfectly clean, with carpet, nice balcony, large bathroom. There is a very nice garden behind the hotel. The restaurant is also quite ok - we sat outside on a balcony overlooking the garden and could not have asked for any better after a long car-ride.

Review 56:... a bit far from the centre, but the hotel provides a shuttle bus regularly (so not a big problem).

Review 57:High standards of cleanliness, very helpful reception staff, and one gets value for money!

Review 58:Location is far away from city center, not for a walk, by car about 10 minutes. Breakfast with no ham, no omelette, no any other features affordable for a 4 stars hotel. Icons in the room decor with faces of sacred looking at you all the time. Matera's scenery would be better for a room design.

Review 59:Good room facilities, lots of different features like nail sticks, paper and pen, other accessories, etc. Lots of flowers. Free parking on site.

Review 60:I travelled with my wheel chair mother and I was treated very well by hotel staff with assistance and kindness. The info. from Booking.com is not clear enough but they tried their best to help. Finally we got room with handicap toilet. I was impressed with the service and will stay with them again next time I'm in Matera.
