Reviews for MIA Reef Isla Mujeres Resort
Review 1:I wish that swim up bar had finished edges! garbage sometimes laying around grounds/beach area (cups especially) but perhaps guests could be more conscientious about their garbage! when all construction is done the hotel/amenities will be beautiful
Review 2:loved the location, the snorkeling, very friendly staff, swim up bar, met nice people, food was good, overall loved it!
Review 3:The room was below expectations. The bed was clean, but they did not clean the bathroom before giving us the room. The patio was also very dirty with bird droppings all over. The common areas are ok but way below average for the price. Breakfast was ok. Lunch and dinner does not have much choice. Will NOT return.
Review 4:Location is priceless.
Review 5:Resort is under renovations , so there is construction going on. The allinclusive meals and drinks are nothing to short of an American buffet, not very impress. One morning the orange juice was rotten, they fixedpretty quick, but should never been out for the guest. Rooms are verysimple, no radio/alarm, the only mirror in the room is the one onthe bathroom, no dresser just a small closet. We had to walk over thebridge to get to the bigger nicer beach ( not part of the resort) Also avery strong odor of algae.
Review 6:The location, is just breath taking. The view from our room wasbeautiful Some of the staff was very friendly and helpful, specially thebreakfast crew. The perfect place for snorkeling .
Review 7:It was a ghost hotel because of the reconstruction. The main hotel is all empty, only the walls to bear it. and there was load noise from the workers. Bad, bad cleaning, the room smelt, the aircon didn´t work. No wifi, but in the lobby, which was a mess. We had all-incl, and it was a joke. Do yourself a favor, not to book this hotel, before its done. listen to the reviews(we didn´t). I think, at least, it will take 6-12 months before its done.
Review 8:Facility and food
Review 9:Location and beach
Review 10:The hotel didn't have wifi in rooms
Review 11:Everything. The hotel was magical. The staff very accommodating.
Review 12:Food Room furniture
Review 13:Island Location Staff
Review 14:I love the easy access to the reefs - the views are gorgeous! Stayed in villa - view of ocean. Edwin o staff was very helpful.
Review 15:The amount of work needed to bring the hotel and grounds up tp a decent standard. The constant building noise. The amount of visitors to the beach from Cancun on a daily basis, no privacy at all. After a few days the food was quite bland. We changed rooms three times on arrival before we were placed in a suitable room. One of the top sites in the world, I do'nt think so. After travelling nearly 5 thousand miles to get there I have honestly been to better, quieter and cheaper places.
Review 16:The location was excellent despite the trouble to get there. The Kings bath was a complete delight.
Review 17:Construction (pounding banging and chain saw noises ) interfered with my relaxation ... Limited beech space ... Not enough longe chairs and umbrellas... The outside wait staff were lacking and overall food was bland...
Review 18:The location was the best in the Adria! and the activity director was polite friendly fun and inviting ... Every path and every turn there was natural picture perfect beauty !!
Review 19:The property apparently has a new owner and there is a lot of construction, noise, dirt, etc. Rooms are old and shabby. Breakfasts were excellent. Lunch and dinner below okay. All inclusive drinks were poor and used the cheapest brands possible but you could upgrade and pay more than Hilton would charge.
Review 20:Location is beautiful.
Review 21:Hotel villas were very old and tired we brought our own foam topper for the bed and still needed 2 more from the hotel. The gap under the room door you could put your hand through and needed to be plugged each night. All inclusive is not buffet except at breakfast. the rest of the time is a 2 page menu with the same things every meal. Also even though included every drink or meal was accompanied by bills and signatures (0.00 bill) but we were told it was for control??? Way over priced for the facility. But if you must go there stay in the villas.
Review 22:Location, Location, Location... you could not get a better location, the beach was not very long or have much space but the waist deep white sand, crystal clear water was great! Good for beginner snorkelers.
Review 23:The vacation had to end.
Review 24:It is nice to see the work and refurbishment that has gone on and continues to go on. The bar with granite top and the pool area are great. The bridge deck has been completely replaced. It seems like the new owners are ready to raise the standard.
Review 25:The mattresses were horrible. It was the topic of conversation amongst all the guests. The mattress was as comfortable as sleeping on a box spring.
Review 26:The best thing is the location. The setting is beautiful.
Review 27:Lobby area very sad...room decor basic...can't wait to see after re vamping
Review 28:Ada and alesandro for activities Fab breezy beach location Dining room ,pool yoga kayaks bikes
Review 29:Staff very rude compared to rest of the island. Not even close to being what is was billed out to be. Activities wait there weren't any. Have had better good at a school cafeteria. You are much better off staying at ANY other place than there
Review 30:NOTHING
Review 31:The all inclusive was alot of exclusion. Didn't have a full bar for us, only a very limited menu, the food was terrible, no wi fi in the room, very outdated, tv was very old. Overall, just not a good vacation at all. Too bad because it was expensive trip and I wish I had all my money back.
Review 32:The location to the ocean
Review 33:The resort is going through a change of ownership which I think in the end will be good but, it seemed unsettling. A lot of cosmetic things should be done to the resort but again only minor. Also only one restaurant left little choice but again saw construction on possibly as many as two more restaurant/café areas??
Review 34:Location was ideal! Staff especially the wait staff were super nice! Great value for the little money we paid listen we weren't expecting much and were pleasantly surprised!
Review 35:Front desk staff need to be more accommodating and customer oriented. Security staff do their work and are focused!
Review 36:The location being on the most remote and gorgeous reef and calm beach side. The restaurant staff are really great and fun. Especially "Marcos" "Orlando Bloom" "Saul" and "Efrain" and "Martin" really made the service Great!
Review 37:Gave us wrong room, and it took a long time to get right room. Ceiling fan in room did not work and nobody came to fix it. Asked 2 times for an extra blanket but did not get it.
Review 38:Location. Breakfast included.
Review 39:Not enough beach chairs. Food was mediocre at best. They rented out beach space to people not staying at the resort, and the beach is just too small for that - guests ended up not being able to relax.
Review 40:MIA Reef is a work in progress - it has a lot of potential to be a really beautiful facility. It needs someone to manage it who really knows how to make it comfortable and can fix the place up. Great bar nextdoor at Fenix. Great location for beach and town..
Review 41:The staff, service and food are horrible! Will not help with anything.Bring your own coffee and soap, as although, you have a maker in yourroom, they charge for the coffee packets, if you can even get them. Therooms are really nice size, and could be nice, but very dated - theelectrical outlets hanging from wall and blew out 2 of my appliances. The air conditioning did not work. Asked to speak to manager, but shewas always too busy. The beaches are pretty much all gone - so don'tbelieve the photos, they also have huge mounds of really stinkingseaweed left to pile up on the beach, and so can hardly stand to be onthe beach. The bridge to access the hotel is falling down, so cabs couldnot drive on, and so had to haul all our stuff quite a ways (staffcompletely unhelpful). The dock also is falling down.
Review 42:The grounds are really nice, but the beaches are disappearing. The diveshop operator, Mundaca Divers, and their staff are fabulous. They areindependent to the hotel. If you are a diver, I highly recommend them.
Review 43:- air conditioning in room relatively loud - room windows cannot be opened
Review 44:- excellent breakfast buffet - nice pool - calm surroundings - very close to beach (private beach) - quite close to town centre - dive center on site
Review 45:Service was lousy. The facilities are very run down. Example, There were two ladders out of the pool and neither one had any steps, they were gone.
Review 46:The location and the beach
Review 47:The pillows are miserable and you only get free coffee the first day. You also are not able to eat or drink in public areas unless you buy your food there which is a bummer when you are on the beach.
Review 48:The location was wonderful and the staff was very nice. Even though there is only one restaurant, the food is great! We loved the activities.
Review 49:The A/C inside the room is nearly Intolerable! I urge you to ask from the reception to first look at the room prior to check-in and examine the A/C. Due to the noise and lack of sleep, I wouldn't pay this much for a night stay.
Review 50:Location is good and the Breakfast is GREAT.
Review 51:Paymant in Advance Spending Money Deposit in Advance Very smallquadruple room
Review 52:The best location The best beach in Mexico with lagoon Snorkeling Clearhotel Good food Good security
Review 53:Ever present maintenance crew.Very polite and friendly, but it's like vacationing in a construction zone.
Review 54:Beautiful location, very clean, friendly and charming hotel. I didn't want to leave. Planning to return.
Review 55:Together with an ideal location offshore of Isla Mujeres, the hotel is also very much exposed to the winds, thus while most of the island can have a hot weather, the Abalon Reef may be very much cool and windy. The facilities are quiet outdated and both the TV, the furniture and the towels are too old. The beds are also very much hard, so for some it may be a problem.
Review 56:The hotel location is right on the Caribbean shore, with the villas set directly above the waves - a perfect romantic spot. The shallow lagune around the hotel is perfect for safe sea swim and snorkeling. The prices are very much attractive for a decent vacation.
Review 57:Place needs some money spent on it--lots of fixing little things. Butthe property itself is pretty beyond belief. Bar service a little slow. You can see light under door and between wood of room door--but I alwaysfelt safe. It is my favorite place in the world.
Review 58:The grounds are absolutely stunning! Charming and perfect! I cant waitto go back. Rooms are sparce--lots of broken things (safe with no lock, chipped tiles, broken towel bars etc), but the rooms are functional andclean. Old world Mexico style. Maid service good.
Review 59:We liked everything.
Review 60:We loved the location ( right on the beach, lots of restaurants and shopping nearby, gorgeous water to swim in, very safe, good value for your money and friendly locals everywhere).
Review 61:Although we ordered a double room, the room was quite small but had two beds. According to the reception, the different between standard room and double room is the fact that the room has two beds instead one. It took some time to get hot water in the shower. Could not open the window in the room and the room was kind of a disappointment. There is no mini bar in the standard rooms.
Review 62:The hotel is located at the best place in Isla Mujeres and has amazing natural ocean pool. Most of the people in the hotel are nice.
Review 63:Some of the staff were super helpful, while others seemed a bit snobby at times. Also, none of the phones in the hotel worked due to the hotel redoing their entire phone system.
Review 64:The location of the hotel is secluded , and the private beach with snorkeling is fantastic. The beds were comfortable and clean. The showers are large and have plenty of hot water. Great views from the rooms!
Review 65:Beds were hard. Hotel was out-dated. Rooms were very small. No refrigerator and no WiFi/Internet in the rooms. The restaurant and bar areas were usually empty.
Review 66:Incredible location. Walking distance to downtown. Nice people. Great views. Nice experience at the hotel.
Review 67:room too small internet is poor and not access in the room..
Review 68:Beautiful place close to the wonderful beach . breakfast was good. but saddly raining , cold and too windy
Review 69:rooms are smaller when you are 4 people, adequate but that's it. Would have liked a small fridge in room or at least an ice machine to use. no balcony,
Review 70:So laid back, beautiful location, helpful staff, good food, great breakfast
Review 71:We were unable to upgrade to the beach studios in the New Year'shigh season but the standard room was also nice, especially as we wereable to open the window. All we missed was a small fridge and bed-sidelamps. A balcony might have been nice but as the garden and beaches wereso nice, it made up for it.:o)In the Mexican-Western style, the bar concentrated on alcoholic drinks - I hope they will also have a non-alcoholic drink list in the future. Not all of us want to get drunk, thank godness! ;o)
Review 72:A fabulous & peaceful location surrounded by beautiful turqoisewaters of the Caribbean. The hotel had great services on severaltranquil beaches with sunbeds, shade beds, diving & snorkling gearetc. The breakfast had huge variety and the beach bar served colddrinks all day through. The beaches were the best on the island (to ourliking) and the snorkling was great even though the reef is located abit farther away from the shore everywhere on the island. The roomswere classy and had amazing sea views and it was awesome to sleep tothe sound of the waves. Still we were only a 5-minute walk away fromthe village with all the restaurants, diving shops, souvenir shops andother services.
Review 73:needs alot of work
Review 74:Nothing
Review 75:Everything was good.
Review 76:we stayed in the bungalows-I loved the views from the deck
Review 77:Perfect location, villas are tucked away very private . Breeze comes thru your room lovely.
Review 78:Too expensive for what they are offering
Review 79:The rooms are over priced and the WiFi only work in the reception
Review 80:beautiful views from the beach
