Reviews for Quinta do Vallado
Review 1:Beautiful hotel and vineyard. We were originally supposed to stay for 2 nights and extended our stay to 3 nights. Well worth it. The food and service was amazing. Loved everything about our stay at Quinta do Vallado and cannot wait to return very soon.
Review 2:Shame it wasn't summer to enjoy the pool and the outdoors of the place...
Review 3:Perfect wine hotel! Very good architecture project, very well decorated and with very friendly staff. Very good breakfast! We also enjoyed a personalized visit to the wine cellar of the Quinta do Valado, included in our stay.
Review 4:We missed a bottle opener for opening the bottle of wine in the room. And there was no beer available in the bar, for those who do not like wine.
Review 5:Beautiful, spacious rooms.Great living room and excellent staff. Breakfast was great!
Review 6:Staff was absent, obtuse, indifferent or fawning. The older building is a fire hazard: our double room had a small window only, barred, and impossible to get out. This old building has one exit, one hall, and no fire directions. The parking lot is eighteen slippery slate steps below the hotel, with an elevator only for luggage, which is operated only when the staff is paying attention.
Review 7:Location, views, public rooms were all above average. Breakfast was good but unremarkable. We didn't eat meals because the dinner menu was predictable Portuguese fare. An attractive hotel but not well-staffed or well-run.
Review 8:When you go out at night you must come back before midnight or warn the receptionist who gives you a card so you can open the door. Our forgot to tell us that so we stayed outside for a while, waiting for someone to open the door.
Review 9:We stayed for 2 nights in romance. The place is wonderful and the rooms absolutely clean, silent and dark in the morning. The breakfast is very good and Marta, was a great guide when we visited the Cellar and went wine tasting.
Review 10:While the service at dinner was excellent, the breakfast was quite confusing. It was chilly that day so we wanted to eat inside (we weren't alone) but we had to bring the cups and silverware from the outside ourselves, since no tables inside were set. Also, they run out of a few things (coffee, essential!) and we had to wait for a very long time just for someone to appear from the kitchen so we can tell them about it. The food selection was good however, and the coffee, once arrived, was excellent.
Review 11:Gorgeous place with stunning views. Comfortable room with balcony and large modern bathroom. Do not miss the free winery tour and wine tasting at 1700 just for hotel guests. We were the only ones that day, so we had a private tour with a very knowledgable guide. All the wines we tasted were excellent too, and we could ask a lot of questions being the only people. Dinner was excellent too, and the wine tasting continued at dinner since they served us different wines from the ones we'd already tasted.
Review 12:No Wi-Fi at the pool
Review 13:Friendly and personable staff. Very scenic spot. Great service. Serene and calm ambience. Great winery tour and sampling.. Good atmoshpere, good wine. Good blend of traditional and contemporary Amazing swimming pool.
Review 14:There were lots of flies and bugs in the pool area. We asked someone from the staff if something could be sprayed and she said no (but she might not have understood us?), only to discover bug spray in our room the morning we were leaving. There were also several loud children at the property during our stay. When I go to a place like this to relax, I would prefer an adult-only hotel.
Review 15:We absolutely loved our stay here -- beautiful quinta with many nice touches. The setting and grounds were stunning. We enjoyed the winery and spending time by the pool. The food (both the dinner and breakfast) was wonderful.
Review 16:Parking can be a real challenge. Directions to arrive are a challenge.
Review 17:Friendly and personable staff. Very scenic spot. Great service. Serene and calm ambience. Great winery tour and sampling. Fresh food and the dinner was fantastic.
Review 18:You can't walk to the city, only by car. Dinner seemed to me very expensive.
Review 19:Wine hotel with a great view and everything you need, if you're a wine tester. Good atmoshpere, good wine. You should order an excursion to vineyards.
Review 20:The pool was a bit cold but on the days we were there it was only 20 degrees Celsius so perhaps if it was hotter then the pool would be a nice temperature. There were a lot more families with very young kids than I would have thought. Kids were playing hide and seek around the buidling and one even barged into our room. They kept slamming doors and it was quite distracting as the noise echoed through the building. We did order a snack in the afternoon and it was hot on the outside but the middle was still cold. We sent it back to the kitchen and they made a new order which was delicious.
Review 21:It felt amazing being there away from the city. You felt as if you were at a private resort. I stayed at the new building. The staff were very attentive. Breakfast and dinner were very good. They offered a dinner menu with wine tasting that changed every night for 40 euros-well worth the price. Facilities were clean and you could easily relax.
Review 22:I couldn't fault anything.
Review 23:Everything! From the property facilities to the little details in the room, to the food & service. It felt as if you were the only ones staying there, being a small boutique hotel it had the 5 star experience without feeling like a crowded resort.
Review 24:The property is a mix of original and new architecture done extremely well The staff were wonderful and our stay was bliss. Thank you for making us feel so comfortable and welcome
Review 25:Only negative would be the staff which was not necessarily very responsive/fast as I'm used to in other countries. But generally very nice people.
Review 26:Beautiful place, amazing infinity swimming pool. Very quiet, very relaxed. Massages are great too.
Review 27:The ONLY complaint-the bran flakes very a bit stale!
Review 28:EVERYTHING-the location, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The dinner was absolutely fantastic, the wine pairing was perfect and the staff really took time to explain the wines which made the experience even more memorable. The pool and the surroundings were incredible and the room was stunning.
Review 29:The tour was quite fast, and we thought we'd had the chance to visit the vineyard as well.
Review 30:The staff is always available to assist the guests, the food was delicious and the wines were great.
Review 31:Only problem was the room air conditioning wasn't up to scratch. Not marking them down for this, as we didn't complain.
Review 32:Wonderful views, comfortable modern rooms. Best breakfast we had in Portugal. The set evening meal (at €40 pp) was worth every cent. They were more that generous with the wine and Port.
Review 33:Housekeeping standards a bit variable eg replenishment of bedroom items varied from day to day.
Review 34:Lovely staff. Great setting and view. Great architecture and use of local materials. Good blend of traditional and contemporary. Wonderful cooking with fresh local ingredients and own wines. Wine tasting on premises.
Review 35:It was one of the best places we ever stated! Would love to come back! Beautiful views, nice pool, food, staff and amazing wines! The hotel itself is very clean with very attentive personnel. New building is amazing!
Review 36:Front desk gentleman at check-in had a condescending "edge",and no "warmth", right to the point! And commented on thefact, we booked with "booking.com"(not with a positiveovertone)...a very clinical welcome, which is a far cry of other places,we stayed at so far!...Too bad!..same for the rest of the staff; theyneed to relax a bit, and have a more convivial attitude.
Review 37:Great night sleep, very comfortable bed, and the best breakfast!
Review 38:Everything was excellent and could not be better ! The location, the room, the decoration, the service, the food, and ofcourse the wines at dinner ! The hotel has all luxury, but has been able to combine this with a relaxing atmoshphere, it is not al all stiff, and that's really one of the assets of the hotel. Special recommendation for the dinner : do not miss the homemade style dinner : it is excellent ! Even better than the chic restaurants in the neighborhood. Because it offers really tasty dishes. And it is the best way to drink the Vallado wines in combination with the local food.
Review 39:The hotel is very impressive and the staff are very friendly. The wine visit was really nice and the attention to details of the wine caves are amazing. The food served at the restaurant is also a highlight of the stay. I truly recommend to anyone willing to visit the Douro region. Excellent food and excellent wine.
Review 40:It felt like a bit understaffed: when we arrived, it was the same lady doing the check-in, showing the rooms, serving the drinks before dinner and then serving dinner. For dinner we were given 2 choices of main dish, food was ok but not exceptional. The visit to the wine cellar needs to be handled more professionally: started with 20 minutes of delay, the lady was well informed but handling alone a group of 30 people, some portuguese speakers, some english speakers, that was a bit confusing, really.
Review 41:Charming hotel, it's all about Douro wine region which we love very much. The hotel is just about the right size for Douro region, not too big not too small, very cosy, specially in the lobby, it really felt like being in a very cosy living room with fireplace. The architecture is beautiful, combining the old and the new. Before dinner we enjoyed a bottle of Quinta do Vallado Branco Reserva in the living room, quite a moment!
Review 42:No refill of the Nespresso cups in the room after day 1 + the cook is too generous with salt - these were the only two things we could think of that were a bit less good
Review 43:Plenty of space to relax in the lounge or library, great views out of the windows over the vineyards, a pool set in an orchard, friendly staff, great design (modern with a twist to the past)
Review 44:It was a pleasure to stay in this lovely hotel. The dinner option was delicious as was the included breakfast. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel to anyone.
Review 45:We enjoyed our time there. The staff were very professional and accommodating; the facilities are very impressive and the meals were excellent. Our plan was to stay at a working winery and we were pleased with the results.
Review 46:Everything about this Quinta was excellent eg comfort, staff, food and drink. Perfect location for a relaxing stay and for touring the Douro and surroundings.
Review 47:We had a very small room with very small window. The hotel seems somewhat overpriced.
Review 48:Nice roomy bathroom. Gorgeous grounds, interesting wine tour & tasting. Staff were pleasant & helpful.
Review 49:Wifi only worked in common areas, not in our room.
Review 50:Loved our stay and can't wait to plan a return! Stay included a wine tour and tasting! Also ate dinner on site, it was lovely . Stayed in the traditional side and it was charming!
Review 51:Nothing!
Review 52:We enjoyed it all: the room, even if in the older portion, the views, the food, the wine, the port, the 90 minutes visit of the winery which was one of the most complete visit we have ever taken, and where we tasted 5 wines, the service and the architecture. They even serve vegetables from their own garden. The tomatoes were particularly delicious. Don't miss this Quinta, a real gem.
Review 53:- located opposite to two main roads and the motor highway => noisy and spoiling the view... - service was very friendly, but very unexperienced...
Review 54:- boutique design - very clean - complementary wine tour - swimming pool - wine tasting menue at diner
Review 55:- Rooms in the old quinta are clean and comfortable, but are a bit dardk given the small windows.
Review 56:- Perfect location in the middle of the vineyards, as an excellent starting point for the discovery of the Alto Douro region. - Tour of the wine making facilities and degustation included in the price and really worth it - Great staff and service - Amazing swiiming pool in a truly relaxing setting
Review 57:Location, service from staff, attention to detail, excellent wine and food, calm and private location. Enjoyed the walking trails in the extensive vineyards on the estate. The hotel is pretty special
Review 58:Such a wonderful stay in Quinta Do Vallado. Everything has been thought and designed with a lot of taste and elegance. The staff is very careful and treats his clients with the perfect combination between availability and discretion that you can only find in very special places.
Review 59:Nothing except our stay was too short.
Review 60:Fantastic location. Gorgeous views. Very quiet. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great pool. Big rooms with comfy beds. Big oversized bath towels. Complimentary wine - delish! Lovely garden with fresh fruit and veggies daily. Well priced dinner option with wine pairings. Great and very generous breakfast. Can't wait to return.
Review 61:Wished they had afternoon tea or snacks on the menu.
Review 62:This is a fabulous wine hotel! Very comfortable and relaxing rooms including the living room and games rooms which my kids loved. Glad we managed to book the set dinner. It was yummilicious and we had wonderful ambience and amazing views. Wine tours and tasting were well organised. Breakfast is included and the spread is good. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Their wines and port are just fab!
Review 63:Quinta do Vallado lies on a side valley of the Douro a few km from Regua, It offers magnificent views, has a nice little pool in a quiet garden and a great terrace. It offers guided tours to the wine-making facilities. Quinta do Vallado produces a great Reserva and oak-aged Touriga National. If you do not want to take the daily dinner Regua is just 7 Euro by taxi.
Review 64:The property and hotel are stunning! The location is well suited for doing wine tours in the area, but you could easily spend you entire stay lounging around the pool, exploring the grounds; all while enjoying their delicious wine. The dinner and tour of the winery are worthwhile. The staff were amazing. Make sure to stay more then one night!
Review 65:Nothing. Ok if i have to pick something, it would be a longer hour of service at pool bar. This is, i realize, a first world problem.
Review 66:Breathtakingly stylish winery, excellent value for money, beautiful grounds and location, lovely meals, pleasant staff
Review 67:Nothing.
Review 68:Everything was superb. The staff were kind, the food fantastic, the grounds incredible. We felt incredibly well looked after the whole time. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
Review 69:Highly recommended and can't wait to return! From moment we arrived, everything was perfect. Service was second to none, pool was lovely, our room was in old part of hotel and was quaint, clean and beautiful. Highlight was the dinner we had both nights we stayed! Value for money was amazing! Food was beautiful as we're matched wines. We loved it and can't recommend it highly enough. We didn't want to leave! Be sure to try the Vallado reserve red - one of best wines we have ever had!
Review 70:We picked Quinta do Vallado quite randomly online and we're absolutely blown away once we arrived. The price tag we thought was a bit high turned out to be a great deal once we saw the luxurious room (the bathroom, the balcony!) and the gorgeous surrondings. Apparently the hotel was fully booked, but we had the gorgeous pool amidst fruit trees all to our selves for the better part of the afternoon – total bliss! Perfect for a romantic getaway or some quiet relaxation. We stayed in a superior room in the new building, and would definitely recommend it. The service was impeccable and the room came with complimentary fruit and wine. We also stayed in for dinner, which we can also only recommend – you won't find lovelier views and you get a lot (including an entire wine menu) for you money. Our only regret was not staying longer! Might as well book for at least two nights, you won't want to leave.
Review 71:Fantastic rooms in a beautiful setting - excellent value for money with helpful staff. Free parking and wifi. Interesting wine tour and delicious food and wines
Review 72:The traditional rooms have only a very small window and no View.
Review 73:Beautiful view and surroundings. Helpful staff.
Review 74:Exceptional in all regards. Staff was beyond excellent
Review 75:Room is a bit small
Review 76:Special building
Review 77:Fourmis dans la chambre
Review 78:L'accueil

Review 85:Gorgeous setting with wonderful staff and lovely rooms
Review 86:Wine tasting tour is great! The environment is lovely, surrounded with vineyards and scent of orange blossoms
Review 87:Incredible facilities, wine tour, fruit and vegetable gardens, swimming pool, beautiful locations.
Review 88:Nothing at all
Review 89:Great people, beautiful design, great beds and bathrooms, nice garden with pool, great food, ...
Review 90:The dinner was not up to standard.
Review 91:the absolutely tastefulness of the whole property. It is a concept.
Review 92:Exterior and interior consistently built from slate. Extensive tour through the winery and wine tasting included in price
Review 93:The cozy atmosphere that make you feel at home! Amazing and relaxing lounges and reading rooms.
Review 94:Proximity to the winery, hospitality, architecture
Review 95:Everything was spectacular
Review 96:Wifi connection not very good in the old building where our room was.
Review 97:Superb property. Good breakfast. Nice staff
Review 98:Amazing reception Ideal base to explore Douro Area
Review 99:WIFI was poor
Review 100:Ambiance, view, sitting rooms with fireplace and comfortable seating. Food was rustic but good value for price.
Review 101:Nothing, this was the best spot of my trip.
Review 102:Staff (Rui and Ana were specially cordial), ambiance, comfort. Delicious food and wine.
Review 103:Great design, staff, food, loved our overall experience!
Review 104:Onsite activities and facilities not obvious nor clearly explained on check in. Limited dinner menu selection and need to reserve by 5:00pm
Review 105:To leave the hotel, we would have loved to stay there for a few days more but our itinerary didnt allow it
Review 106:Fantastic and professional staff. The location is within the vineyards and the view is gorgeous. The evening meal is delicious even if the amount is sparse. Our room was perfect with great furniture with a beautiful bathroom.
Review 107:The only downside( and it was a small point for us) was that there was not very much to do during the day except swim in the superb pool. The walks through the vineyard were ok but after a few days we were struggling to have reasons to stay....we stayed 3 days and that was enough even in great conditions
Review 108:The staff were fantastic and readily shared their knowledge of the wines that were grown and produced on the property. The architecture of the accommodation wing was terrific.
Review 109:This is an amazing place - stylish, friendly staff, great food and wine, beautiful views, a lovely swimming pool and facilities and great rooms. We cannot recommend it highly enough! 11 out of 10!
Review 110:The hotel address is incorrect when used in a SatNav and we have gotlost on our way to the hotel.
Review 111:Excellent view from the hotel. Good hospitality. Nice hotel building. Wehave had a good experience chatting with the owner.
Review 112:While the service is very friendly it wasn't as polished as we might have expected in a hotel like this. The most disappointing thing is that they didn't have much choice in food. There is a set meal option for dinner with a choice of 2 mains. While it's good value with a lot of delicious wines from the winery thrown in, the hotel experience would be so much better if they focussed on raising the standard of the food.
Review 113:The hotel design is fabulous if you like modern architecture (and we did!) and in a breathtaking location (only slightly marred by a little bit of road noise). It only has a few rooms so feels very personal. The rooms aren't enormous but are well laid out with fab bathrooms and lots of nice design features. The pool is in a great spot overlooking a dramatic view in a little garden of orange trees - truly beautiful. The rooms are situated above the dining room which means our baby monitor stretched the distance and we could enjoy the evening!
Review 114:The wifi in the old wing was intermittent in some rooms - a repeater would make it significantly better. It was always reliable in the lounge areas. In the dining room new staff were being trained for the upcoming season, these staff were not yet what I would describe as 5 star. They were happy to meet any requests made, but some of those requests shouldn't have needed to be asked for, and they were sometimes too eager to clear the dishes from a course. If you're looking for a friendly and family experience this won't be an issue, if you're expecting silver service / 5 star service, you may be disappointed. This could be mitigated in future years by a slower ramp up of staff - ensuring a 1:1 between an experienced staff member and a new staff member.
Review 115:The staff were friendly, the location and facilities were excellent. The staff went above and beyond to help us. In particular the lounge area in the new wing was brilliant (accessible even though we stayed in the old wing), and the dinners we booked in the dining area were good.
Review 116:Thank you very much for an excellent holiday! It is a wonderful hotel with all what you ever need and super staf. We have a great pic-nic under orange tree in the garden near the swimming pool. It was a wonderful excursion and wine tasting. Near in Regua you can find a beautiful restaurant Castas e Pratos and intresting museum Museu do Douro.
Review 117:Very pleasant location, cool design at room and common areas, exquisite staff that treats you in a very exclusive way. Transfer from the railway station. Very nice wine tour.
