Reviews for Bamboo Lodge Paracas
Review 1:The rooms are small and the floor wasn't properly swept clean when we arrived. The restaurant next door, La Muña, serves great ceviche and decent pisco sours, but the pulpo a la parrilla and the conchitas a la parmesana were both WAY too salty. Also, someone in our group who had arroz con mariscos there got severe food poisoning overnight. It may have been from a ceviche eaten for lunch at another restaurant, but there's no way to know for sure...
Review 2:Good location, right on the waterfront/boardwalk. Some rooms have a balcony with a nice view. Overall good value for money in Paracas. The fellow at the reception was very friendly, helpful, and professional. He quickly helped us find a doctor when a medical emergency came up. We were very grateful!
Review 3:Balcony door didn't lock. A little noisy (music pumping from the bar next door in the night).
Review 4:Good location, friendly staff, basic but clean amenities.
Review 5:The room was dirty and the receptionist is very rude and money minded. He was constantly trying to sell expensive tour tickets to us. Please don't chose to buy from him, there are much better options. The hotel is so small and the don't go by the deceiving pictures on the website.
Review 6:The only positive aspect is the location.
Review 7:Great location, incredible beach view. Amazing roof top lounge area with lounge chairs and a jacuzzi (which didn't work so it was just a tub of cold water). Nice clean rooms. Black out curtains would have been nice. Tasty breakfast included. At first glance, the hotel seems great. Beautiful view, walking distance to everything.. Then you realize things are missing. No closet, no dresser, no hooks or hangers in the room. No bedside lamp. The coffee shop right next door started playing club beats at 7am, until 11pm... So much for a relaxing quiet time. The manager, although nice and friendly, was a little too friendly at times and made me a little uncomfortable, with the kissing greetings, and asking if I have a bf at home. I ask that you be professional. Not sleazy. Overall, great little hotel, clean, good amenities. I recommend.
Review 8:First, the room was not that big, but it had a king sized bed and a single. The king sized bed pretty much was from wall to wall, so it was very hard to get by. As I had forgotten my alarm clock, I asked a woman at the front desk to awaken me at a specified time, so that I could get ready, have breakfast and make an 8 00 a.m. tour. She said that she would. She did not. It was not a matter of her not understanding me, as I speak good Spanish. So I woke up much later than I had anticipated. I did make it to the tour on time, but breakfast was very rushed. And I wasn{t able to finish it.
Review 9:It was really helpful that the hotel was right on the boardwalk and so close to the tour departure sites. That enabled me to take two tours in the course of one day.
Review 10:A bit expensive for a just 'good' hotel
Review 11:Wonderful location by the ocean, friendly staff helped with the tour to the islands and reservation. The restaurant downstairs serves wonderful food at quite reasonable prices.
Review 12:They have a hot tub which unfortunately wasn't working during our stay!
Review 13:Great location on the Malecon in Paracas, couldn'tt really get more central for boats to Ballestas islands as you can see the pier from the hotel. The sea view room was great as it had a large balcony with table and chairs. Rooftop terrace was great to lie on an get some sun with a beer from the bar. Loads of space up there too with a BBQ pit (none using it while we were there)
Review 14:Staff offers you trips but as soon as you reserve something cheaper with the same itinerary it comes up that even he can discount..too late and unpolite. really poor breakfast, tiny room, a few problem with hot water and tv but solved in a few minutes. Overpriced
Review 15:Room with sea view, clean rooms
Review 16:There are several restaurants below the b&b with music on. On the balcony you will hear various music types.
Review 17:The view from the balcony is really is wonderful.
Review 18:Rain out of hot water in shower and no water at in the am to flush so used the bathroom in the restaurant
Review 19:So close to everything - 5-10 min walk to all Patio was great Free breakfast was delicious Checked us in really early at 10:30
Review 20:When I booked the hotel through Booking.com the price was 65us pernight. When we arrived that is what we were charged only to find theywere charging 40us at the time of our arrival. For our 2 rooms we wereover charged a total of 250us for our 5 night stay. The beds were veryhard, concrete comes to mind. Other then these two factors it was agood stay.
Review 21:The staff worked long hours and remained pleasant and helpful. Thelocation in the marina was very nice.
Review 22:We only stayed one night and it was more than enough ... The rooms stank right from the beginning, uncomfortable short bed, the water in the sink wasn't almost running, and hot water in the shower began to run after about 5 minutes. I think that summarizes it pretty much - no wait it doesn't - as a bonus it had a disgusting breakfast. It featured spoiled juice of some kind (very distasteful), coffee, tea, and total of 5 slices of toast bread with a butter and nothing more ! Avoid this place at all costs.
Review 23:nothing
Review 24:WiFi is useless throughout Paracas, due to repeating towers, rather than cable, from main highway. Good for 30 seconds, then drops. Worthless.
Review 25:Great front desk, arranged tours well, provided bus pick up.
Review 26:The next door bar plays loud music between 06.30 and 22.00 every day. It is not extrwamly anoying but can be an issue for some.
Review 27:It was a nice hotel on the waterfront with an amazing view.
Review 28:Very simple room. Very great view from balcony of the bay, with the fishing boats in the foreground and sunset in the background. The 'malecon' of Paracas in very cute and we Did see Penguins on the a.m. boat trip.
Review 29:They did not come to the room to clean and change the towels on the second day. The music of the next door was very loud. Breakfast service was always late.
Review 30:The ocean view balcony was good.
Review 31:WIFI did not work the entire time. Breakfast menu should have had more variety considering the price of the nightly rate. There was no bath mat in the bathroom which meant you had to walk around with wet feet after a shower. No shampoo/conditioner amenities provided (only soap bars). Stayed in the ocean view room on the second floor which should actually be noted as a 'partial' ocean view as it is obstructed by the power lines and hotel facade. The rooms are not sound proof and the first night it was very hard to sleep because of loud music being played next door.
Review 32:Location was perfect - could not have had a more centrally based hotel in Paracas - close to the jetty to board to Ballestas and so many restaurants close by. The bus depot was only 5 minute walk and felt very safe. Manuel at front desk speaks very good English and always willing to help out with your queries.
Review 33:WiFi was not available during our stay Simple breakfast Small sky window in the room (not all room have ocean view)
Review 34:Oceanfront property Clean room Hot water Big bed and comfortable mattress Friendly stuff
Review 35:Communication was difficult for us, nobody spoke English. Still managed to arrange some things (laundry and a trip to the Islands).
Review 36:Location is perfect, right on the seafront, we had a three person room with the two of us which was oké spacewise. The small balcony with beach chairs overlooking the harbour was a nice bonus, but I guess not every room has a seaview. Rooms and hotel are modern, but not very big. That's oké if you're spending most of your time outside.
Review 37:Breakfast was buns and jam with eggs thrown in twice during the week. Boring. There were days that no one was there to do breakfast before we had to head out. Wi-Fi was iffy at best.
Review 38:The staff was very helpful with special kudos to Manuel who does absolutely everything. Rooms clean and airy. The fans were great.
Review 41:hotel breakfast was very small and took forever for all parts of meal. Ex.served us 4 pieces of bread then had to ask for eggs 15 min later.
Review 42:Attached is a restaurant with friendly staff
Review 43:Breakfast poor and late. Toast and awful coffee. Unfriendly staff except the receptionist. Dirty hotel, everywhere....rooms, stairs. I cleaned myself and showed them. I would not take that hotel for such a high price.
Review 44:Location is good.
Review 45:No AC, or ceiling fan, the wifi works only at reception desk. Small rooms with nowhere to put clothes or suitcase
Review 46:The guy at the front desk was very friendly and efficient, the view of the bay from the room is fantastic.
Review 47:Internet was horrible (which seems to be a standard in Peru). Booking.com mentioned that the front desk is open 24-hours but it is not. The room was extremely dirty and they did not have it ready when we arrived at 4PM so we had to wait 30-minutes. The staff (essentially one guy) was not only rude but not very trustworthy (I wouldn't recommend booking any tours with him as his prices seemed arbitrary and much higher than tour companies in the area). It was hot (no air-conditioning) and every room does not come with a fan as stated on booking.com. I got bit by mosquito (if not bed bugs) overnight and had to request for a fan (which took two hours to get). Breakfast is also really basis - juice, bread, and jam. They also store your bags in a damp moldy closet so your belongings will smell very bad even after 5 hours. There was tons of dust all over the bedroom floor as well. I don't recommend it at all. We even paid $70.00 to utilize Hotel San Agustin's facilities next door; the credit also goes towards food and alcoholic beverages, fitness center, pool, and billiards room.
Review 48:The location of the hotel is good but then again, Paracas is such a small town that any hotel will most likely be convenient enough. Sadly, this is the only semi-positive part about the hotel. Warning: it was difficult to sleep on Sunday night with club music blaring until 4AM.
Review 49:No wifi in the rooms, poor breakfast, very loud music from the bar next door, an hour without water, bar closes very early, staff is unorganised and responds very slow to requests, they didn't clean the room/change toiletries and towels (we had to ask) during our stay
Review 50:Great location, very central. Small, but nice room with a balcony and a great seaview
Review 51:-very noisy. even after midnight - the hotel personal does not care about noise complaints - the main entrance to the hotel was open all night and nobody was there to look after security
Review 52:Nice view from the balcony
Review 53:Lazy incompetent staff, very unprofessional and not nice, all of them. The wifi didn't work at all and neither the cable tv. The room was ridiculously small and unfinished. Very poor instalations. We run away to the hotel across the street in the minute we woke up next morning....
Review 54:The owner at the desk was sometimes nowhere to be found, we had to wait more than expected to get the room cleaned the first day and the second day it was not cleaned at all because we locked the door and had the key with ourselves (they only have 1 key for each room??). Breakfast is very basic and we could pay with credit card only after repeatedly asking, as the owner repeatedly said they had troubles with that system (but meanwhile keep a big VISA logo at the door).
Review 55:We had a very nice room with sea view, TV and hot shower.
Review 56:Some noisy guests woke us up coming back in the early hours of the morning.
Review 57:A spotless and very new room with a beautiful balcony overlooking the bay. The manager was fantastically helpful and went out of his way to make sure we got to see the Ballestos Islands.
Review 58:Wi fi reception needs to be improved.
Review 59:Staff were most helpful. In particular Saol Villazante Devisp, the cook. A brilliant location ,views from our room overlooking the sea
Review 60:The breakfast was very poor. The room was quite noisy.
Review 61:Great view directly over the sea and the small harbour. Nicely decorated and well equipped room.
Review 62:The breakfast included jam, butter, bread, a glass og smooth juice and coffee. I did not even believe it. Too small rooms full of beds and they give you a 4-bedroom for a single. Overpriced. The hotel works only with visa which was a problem. In the village if they say they work with debit or credit cards usually the "line" is poor and you should pay cash. Take cash for this place.
Review 63:If you are for a day, travel by bus and want to see the Balestas Islands - this is a good place. On the beach, near the only bus station (far from the center), near the port where the boats leave for the Balestas Islands.
Review 64:We stayed only for one night, and when we arrived the room was still not ready, but we had to wait less than an hour. The next day hotel run out of water for a technical problem that was solved during the morning. We left the room and came back in the afternoon after our tours, to take back the luggage left in deposit. They let us have the shower we couldn't have in the morning.
Review 65:Nice hotel in a very well position and with a good restaurant. Room and bathroom small but very clean. Possibility to deposit luggage after leaving the room.
Review 66:The room was veeeery small, it's extremely expensive for what you get. The hotel is noisy, they opened our door at 1 am to get some other guests in (by mistake of course, but never apologyzed). A family of something like 10 people came in late and were skouting with pen doors for about an houre, kids screaming and so on. None from the staff said a thing, so we had to go and asked them to be a bit more quite...There's neither a phone, nor a wardrobe in the room. The bathroom was too small, there wasn't even a towel for the ground. It was cold, so we asked for a heater but they said they had none. On top of that it is written there's free pick-up from the bus station and when we asked for it they tried to charge 4$ (and the station was literally 300m away from the hotel) Wouldn't recommend this place to anybody but enemies...
