Reviews for Cabanas Maria Del Mar
Review 1:Washroom facilities, where you had to dispose of toilet paper in waste paper basket, septic tanks were located out in front of our room, no wi fi in rooms, no private beach, complimentary breakfast not on facilities, couple of the rooms never did get cleaned while we were there, front desk staff not very friendly, badly bitten by mosquitos and other flying insects
Review 2:Walking distance of eateries and shopping
Review 3:No wifi in the rooms and really bland decor in rooms. Why is everything off white? The pool wasn't very clean. Tv very old and small.
Review 4:Large room and really close to the beach
Review 5:No wi-fi in the hotel area, you've had to go another building across the street. The air condition and refrigerator in the room were very loud.
Review 6:Good location, just next to the beach.
Review 7:would be better if there were the following: a microwave, a coffee maker and a hair dryer.
Review 8:The Beach is very clean and the water is reasonably calm.
Review 9:The hotel really needs a "refreshment" both outside and inside. AC in the room are really bad functioning and very noisy. Service and hospitality around check-in and check-out is slow and poor. High price compared to what you get elsewhere. But the location is nevertheless attractive. For us, that is the only argument for choosing this place.
Review 10:This best part is the location so near the beach of Playa del Norte.
Review 11:I found the beds uncomfortable and the wait staff at the beach restaurant could be rather rude.
Review 12:Great location, very close to the nicest part of the north beach and a nice pool area. We had a nice large veranda with a table and chairs where we could sit out at night and play games.
Review 13:Sand in the hallways and corridors. There needs to be a way for peopleto rinse their feet before entering the premises. Sand brought in byguests ended up in my hotel room.
Review 14:Location
Review 15:Problems checking in and out. Had to pay at the desk when we had already paid through booking.com. we had no water for 6 hours. Took an imprint of our card while promising to return all three copies upon check ou and then denied even taking an imprint!!
Review 16:Location. Clean.
Review 17:My reservation said I would have a balcony so I thought it would be upstairs, but we were on the ground floor, not very private. If I had know, I would have paid a little extra for an unstairs room. It was not available when we arrived. No coffee maker in room.
Review 18:small, pool, simple and pretty grounds
Review 19:It would have been nice to have driking water in the rooms, and some complimentary milk and sugar. There was only wifi available in the palapa, where you went for breakfast
Review 20:The room was by the pool, so ease of access for change of clothing. Towels were available for exchange of wet ones. This meant we did not have to worry about bringing our own.
Review 21:Everything was awesome! Nothing I could complain about. Staff was friendly and nice and room was clean and comfortable. Awesome resort with laid back atmosphere on a beautiful stretch of beach.
Review 22:The rooms are very basic with old furniture , worn out mattresses and very little charm. TV is very small; lighting is inadequate with different color light bulbs. Breakfast is in adequate and poor quality.
Review 23:Proximity to beach.
Review 24:The only negative was that there were small gaps around the front door which left us with a ton of Mosquitos.
Review 25:We loved the location, being able to leave your shoes in the room and walk barefoot a few steps to the beach was amazing. I loved being able to sit out on the balcony and play cards to the sound of the ocean. The pool area was really nice with hammock and chairs. I also really liked how they had the large bottles of water everywhere. The staff was super friendly overall we felt it was great value for the price. We stayed in a ground floor cabana room that was very spacious.
Review 26:Beds were uncomfortable, tv did not work, nobody on staff could speak any English and were not all that friendly. Would have been nice to have the beach chairs included in the price of the hotel.
Review 27:The location is the best, away from most of the hustle and bustle but close enough to walk to the busy parts. Steps away from the best beach, and nice pool.
Review 28:The shower pressure was poor, this was finally improved. The lighting in the room should be improved as it was very difficult to read a book at night in the dim light. The window leaked rain water into the room.
Review 29:Location to beach, restaurants and shops and it is also peaceful at night. We also liked the large balcony. Staff were friendly and attended to a few room problems quickly.
Review 30:Everything. The staff's behavior was horrible - from the moment wegot there until the second we left it feels the staff only wants to getrid of you, it's the only place we had to leave a deposit of 150 usdand they used it with no reason!!! Poor breakfast, the rooms aresmelly,no wifi, doesn't worth your money!
Review 31:The location is amazing on the beach. The accomodation is nice but probably needs a bit of an update. Breakfast is basic but you can pay for a bigger breakfast. The location really means it is perfect.
Review 32:The free breakfast was toast, juice, coffee, NOT tea, at a nearby restaurant. I would not waste my time again on this Wifi at the hotel is nonexistent. You can only get it by walking to said nearby restaurant, like 30-40 yards away. THE GOOD FEATURES FAR OUTWEIGH THE NOT SO GOOD ONES
Review 33:Location, value, clean, staff, pool, convenience to beach and restaurants.
Review 34:The breakfast offer was really poor, a tiny glass of concentrate juice and coffee with two slices of bread. Really bad value for money. Also the room was full of ants, they should be more careful about that, an also the air conditioner was extremely noisy, making difficult to sleep.
Review 35:The location is just amazing!
Review 36:There was no cream, or soap, shampoo or conditioner. The continental breakfast was only two slices of bread and a coffee, and the towels for the beach were not changed daily, you had to keep it for two days
Review 37:Locación
Review 38:Load air-conditioner that cycled on=off making it hard to sleep, but after a couple of nights you get use to it. Pool water leaves a waxy-oily feeling on the skin and hard to get out of your hair - could possibly be all the lotions floating on the water surface, or just how the fresh water is on the island. Internet is iffy at best and only works across the street at the bar/restaurant.
Review 39:Very close to the North-shore beaches. Had swimming pool. Very courteous staff. Free Internet. Budget priced, with good location. Very nice garden area surrounding the cabanas and pool.
Review 40:The service at BuHo restaurant was exceedingly slow. I'm used to the "slower pace" of a meal when dining out in Mexico, but even getting waited on took 5 minutes—or more.
Review 41:Unbelievable beach and swimming
Review 42:Loud inefficient air-con - the place would really benefit from an upgraded aircon system. Only toast for breakfast (but you could buy other options and the view from breakfast was awesome!) Not a hot shower (but you don't really need it) Pool was too warm - like a bath Overall the room was quite outdated
Review 43:Location was perfect, on North beach, next to beautiful beach bar and short walk to shops and restaurants. Nice balcony, beautiful view of beautiful gardens
Review 44:The breakfast and wi-if arrangements leave a little to be desired. Breakfast was toast with a glass of juice and coffee. Minimal even for continental breakfast. Wi-fi is across the street in the restaurant which can help with the weaning from your devices.
Review 45:Right off North Beach, had a more traditional Mexican feel with some nice features for those who don't want to rough it. Ana at the front desk was very friendly and helpful.
Review 46:There is nothing that I didn't like, the beds were older but comfortable. The rooms and their content are a little aged but they work great, including the A.C.
Review 47:I loved waking to easy access to the nicest beach I've ever been on. Being so close to the beach, allows you to keep your valuables safe inside and take the thirty second walk back to your room to get them when you want them. It's right around the corner from a bunch of great restaurants too.
Review 48:The breakfast was poor - only toast, coffee and orange juice. The rooms were not the best but manageable for the 2 days we were in there.
Review 49:Location - It's practically on the beach. 5 minutes walking to the restaurant street. Free water in the hallway.
Review 50:When we went to get our COMP BREAKFAST found the staff not morning people at BOHO'S. Would help to have a microwave in the room. Sometimes it smelled in the lobby
Review 51:We liked the staff cleaning every day, location. Easy Rental of the motorized carts, Dive shop close. Our friends stayed close by.
Review 52:Lack of accommodation choice access to the south beaches although should be available to all by law, are blocked off by hotels
Review 53:Beauty, we travelled around yucatan and this was by far the prettiest.
Review 54:Most anything to do with the restaurant - the breakfast (coffee, orange juice and 2 pieces of toast) and the service.
Review 55:The location of this hotel couldn't have been better! It's ON the beach and had a nice pool area. AND it was 5 minutes to walk to the Centro AND it was at the end of the road so it was quiet for sleeping.
Review 56:No phone in room...had to go to the restaurant to have delivery to your room.
Review 57:Rooms were in excellent condition and clean as you can get. They even cleaned the outside of the window seals and it showed. The tile floors were so clean & shiny on patio and inside the rooms...loved it!!!
Review 58:Breakfast was really, really poor. Two slices of toast, mini marmalade, mini butter and coffee. That's it. The breakfast you can order (and of course pay extra) is really nice. As the beach is so beautiful, a lot of party boats stop here and you can hear their music all over the place.
Review 59:The rooms were ok, beds nice, bathrooms are tidy. There even are English TV Channels for those who want to watch TV. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We rent a golf cart wich broke in the middle of nowhere. A few Mexicans stopped by and tried to help us (all tourists just drove by). As they couldn't fix the cart, they called for us at Cabanas Maria del Mar and they were there with a new golf cart for us in half an hour. Good service!! The garden is lovely and the beach with its white sand outstanding. We will definitely stay there again when we come back!
Review 60:I wish the wifi would have worked. It was there but it would never fully connect.
Review 61:Rooms were clean and cute. The little balcony that was great for reading and drying swim suits in the sun.
Review 62:Rooms small. Also we were charged much more than our original confirmation with Booking.com. They did not and would not honor our booking.
Review 63:Quiet, right by the beach. Continental breakfast was fine.
Review 64:1.The honey Bees around the "Buhos" restaurant tables during the continental breakfast. Buhos is an adjacent beachfront bar/restaurant owned by the same owner(per front desk). They aren't too agressive but Stung a waiter and watch your juice, jam, and water bottles. Catch and relocate the queen. 2. They have no phone a guest can use at the desk, nor knowledge of where on the island I could find one. No pay phone of any kind. I had cell phone trouble and bad weather threatened my travel plans.... I was frustrated to be so out of touch. WiFi only available at the bar was very inconsistent staying connected just seconds many times.
Review 65:We were on a second floor our balcony had a great palm and beach view. We told them we were in our 50's and asked to be put in a quiet section if possible we had a very quiet room. The standard layout 2 double bed room was nicely maintained and clean. Shower pressure was good. The walk to "Centro" (town)was pleasant and easy. You don't need a golf cart or cab to see the sites on this end of the island.
Review 66:WiFi only in the restaurant not at all int the hotel! The sginal is weak and slow. Breakfast: toast, butter, jam and tea/coffe - rather boaring. Sunchairs cost 60 pesos/day!
Review 67:Great staff, clean rooms, comfy beds for the price (especially formexico..they have pillow tops). We spent $105 per night and with thislocation that's really really good.I only had one problem. The website says they have Internet in EVERY room. They do not. You have to go to the restaurant to get wifi. I know this from my on experience, from talking to guests and also noticing that buho's restaurant was constantly filled with people on their devices. Buho's is attached to the castle (1 of the 3 buildings that make up the resort). It wasn't too unpleasant to be honest but it annoying that they advertised otherwise.
Review 68:Breakfast staff were unfriendly and hardly spoke English and the bed matresses were very old, uncomfortable and tired in need of replacement
Review 69:Friendly front desk staff, big room, great location on the beach
Review 70:We had a booking for two rooms on the one booking. When we arrived they told us they only had one room. They did not offer any apology. They eventually sorted the other couple with a room in a hotel nearby but refused to give them breakfast vouchers (coffee and toast) the next morning which was included in the original price. Very unfriendly staff
Review 71:We are international travellers and this is the first time we see a hotel charging its own guest for beach chairs. Considering how poor the landscape and facilities are, charging tor basic chairs comes across as simple greed and abuse from the hotel toward the guests. There are numerous choices of hotels in the island and had we known about these conditions, we'd have certainly picked a different place. The breakfast area had way too many bees and its hard to ignore tables around you having a fit about been stung. The Wi-Fi signal was extremely poor. It would be far better for the hotel to say that no internet service is available at the place and go to a cyber cafe to read emails, etc. There were other details that left a sour taste in our mouths but why even bother with them...
Review 72:The location of the hotel.
Review 73:Appalling breakfast of watery, synthetic juice and 2 soggy bits of toast. Only 6 beach beds at pool and had to pay for them on beach. Wifi NOT in hotel but 100 metres away in noisy bar. No hair dryers in room or hotel Dim room with 2 windows near ceiling making it feel like a prison cell. Twice the price of the first hotel we stayed in. Some staff not very helpful.
Review 74:Position on beach
Review 75:What we did not like was that our cabana was on the ground floor directly next to where the maids take there breaks, and on 2 occasions we were woke up due to their talking. The walls are too thin to have people talking immediately outside of your room.
Review 76:It was OK. Anna at the front desk was especially nice and helpful. The grounds are nice.
Review 77:No wifi. Had to go to the very bad restaraunt across the street to use wifi or to other restaraunts in town. Tickets for breakfast in the restaraunt across the road were included in the cost of the room but the service and coffee was bad.
Review 78:Our first room had quaint, stained glass windows that opened to let the breeze in. Nice deck and amazing view. Our second room was on the ground floor facing the pool. Big and comfortable.
Review 79:Pool was very cold (1st week of Feb) and loungers around pool are quite rickety (same condition two years running). No beach loungers, though pay per use at $5 per loungers or umbrella are available on the beach. Could not get rid of sewer smell in bathroom. Very low water pressure in shower. NO english speaking TV channels, no microwave or coffee maker. No elevator makes stairs a struggle for some up to three flights. Filtered water machine, one per floor, are frequently empty.
Review 80:Beach location is great on notth end of Isla. "Continental Breakfast" is coffee, juice, and 2 pieces of toast and OK, but not competitive with others we have seen. Refrigerator only in room, but necessary to have for week+ stay. Ceiling fan worked well with A/C. Nice spacious covered balcony with partial water view in the "tower" which is actually three floors w/o elevator. Location has brought us there twice, but will look eslewhere next year.
Review 81:Mediocre service - water jugs refilled infrequently, some staff were irritated to be asked for anything, Wi-Fi only in breakfast area next door
Review 82:Fantastic location right on the beach, great balcony views from every room, fridge and safe in room
Review 83:The location is fabulous--on the island's best bathing beach and close to the best snorkelling beach with a pool set in an oasis of beautiful gardens. The room is everything you need for a comfortable stay with fridge, water outside the room and a spacious balcony. The staff are calm and very helpful. Breakfast included is basic at a nearby beach restaurant but you can upgrade it for a small cost. Maple syrup pancakes. Mmmm! I would love to return.
Review 84:bees at breakfast, my only qualm! Many, swarming around the jelly and butter. hopefully temporary problem, because it's a great place!
Review 85:Location! porch/patio, grounds/pool area, reading gazebo/palapa with hats and books to borrow, hammocks at the pool, open window hallways, water coolers on every floor, Buhos bar has swings and happy hour specials.
Review 86:Baciscally no WIFI at all, it should be mentioned that you cant get it in your room or anywhere nearby. The free "breakfast" is not what id call a breakfast - its a free piece of toast. so bad.
Review 87:Plastic sheet over the mattress was sweaty on hot evenings. Breakfast was minimal so we took to having breakfast at the very cheap and excellent market area restaurants a block away and then returning to the beachside hotel restaurant to relax with our free juice and morning coffee!
Review 88:The location was top notch in that it is on the only really good beach for sunning and swimming on Isla Mujeres. Then it is only a couple of long blocks to the charming restaurant and shopping area of this laid back island. So it is always as quiet or lively as you wish. We stayed in #66 a cabana, and these had big verandas, perfect for hanging out, reading etc with the pool nearby. The units nearer the beach have less privacy and the beach is closed off after dark so there is no advantage to these units. In our room itself the cross ventilation through the screened windows was super. And the fridge made cold drinks instantly available.
Review 89:cabana rooms too small no place for clothes no face towels or cloths few hangers dangerous steps in bathroom uncomfortable chairs on the tower balconies no one to buy beach chairs from by the property and a terrible breakfast
Review 90:location to beach and town for restaurants was good
Review 91:most of the time the reception wasnt occupied, when we first got there the room they gave us was dark, it had no windows and it smelled (cabana room, no wifi, the breakfast wasn't sufficient (2 toasts and a cup of juice) and the service was slow.
Review 92:right next to the beach, clean room (in the new tower), hot water in shower, air conditioning, ceiling fan,
Review 93:We extended our stay with one day and had to pay only 50 us dollar instead of 70 euro's, without bargaining. It made me feel that I paidto much for the first three nights
Review 94:The swimmingpool is nice, and it is very close to the beach.
Review 95:Creaky bed
Review 96:Right on the beach with access to cool beach bars. Rooms basic but not lacking essentials for comfy stay Breakfast at beach bar -simple but a beautiful start to a day in paradise
Review 97:they dont change sheets in bed, there are probably fleas no wifi in hotel only in the restaurant
Review 98:close to the beach, 5 min from the main streets quiet, green ..
Review 99:Even if your're a guest at the property they charge you for using the umbrellas and sun beds.
Review 100:The location is great, just a few steps from the best beach in Isla Mujeres.
Review 101:the chairs are removed at five o'clock from the beach..just about when the sun is most pleasant...restaurant closes too early.
Review 102:The staff at the beach, Carlos and Sergio, Rolfie and Leonardo, always smiling with a warm greeting ...the desk was also warm and helpful. The location can't be beat
Review 103:not fancy, so don't expect the five star treatment even though you're on the beach...the bar drinks were well price (but I believe the booze is watered)...they whisk the beach chairs away at 5p just when the sun is getting tolerable, and the restauant closes early, too..around 5:30
Review 104:the location...on the beach....and the room was spare, comfortable, with good pillows and duvet...plenty of towels..safe for stuff and frig in the room to keep the drinks cold...not far from restaurants....the young staff are very pleasant and helpful
Review 105:The room was dirty-the curtains had stains -I had to get a replacement pillowcase as the one provided had dried blood on it-cracked tiles-missing caulk letting in Mosquitos-stained and moldy ceiling-I could go on but space is limited --will not be returning here
Review 106:The location was pretty much the only good thing about this property it is right on the beach
Review 107:Pool wAs only 4 foot deep Water was always hot Continental breakfast offered with room consisted of two peices of toast and one cup of coffee, not real filling
Review 108:The hotel was. Located on the beach, rooms were surrounded with beautiful vegetation, was quite, was reasonably priced
Review 109:The staff kept me waiting a long time before checking in and the lobby was oppressively hot. The "internet" was in the restaurant by the beach and did not work well.
Review 110:I liked that the air conditioning worked well. The room was very well cleaned even though there were ants in the room. I liked that it was right next to the beach.
Review 111:Booked on Booking.com with AMEX. Arrived at hotel and was told they do not accept AMEX. Paid with Visa, but it was about $100 more expensive. Not cool.
Review 112:Good location.
Review 113:No wifi connection within the hotel, only in the restaurant attached.
Review 114:The location is just awesome: directly on the beach!
Review 115:front desk was a little inattentive at times; bed was a little worn
Review 116:Right on the playa norte beach....close walk to main part of town
Review 117:Walk from the room to the beach
Review 118:Horrible filth, neglected hotel, obnoxious staff, unreasonable bail on drivers do not recommend.
Review 119:Near beach.
Review 120:Bano
Review 121:Best place on north beach
Review 122:Limited hotel comfort
Review 123:Ultra close to playa norte, and at walking distance from main street downtown
Review 124:Close to the beach and 1 min walking from everything!
Review 125:it was 3 steps to a wonderful beach.
Review 126:Some of the people.
Review 127:The people.
Review 128:Cheap hotel with great location right next to the beach. Great deal.
Review 129:rude front desk worker
Review 130:They say They have wifi although they don't! Only at a certain spot at the beach bar!! Rooms are dark, barely any lighting!
Review 131:Great location
Review 132:Shower
Review 133:Location!
Review 134:nothing
Review 135:very close to beach and really good price. nice clean room with a/c, safe & fridge
Review 136:Room itself very uncomfortable and outdated.
Review 137:Great location, walk right up on the beach. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms kept clean.
