Reviews for Imperio Hotel
Review 1:WiFi signal was not present in my room or was too weak and unstable so Internet was not awailable. Some other guests that I spoke with told me they had the sam problem in their rooms.
Review 2:The pictures given on the website do not represent the hotel. No lift. Staff at the reception was not very welcoming. The reception is not very invinting!
Review 3:When greeted in evening man didn't seem to care if I was there or not. T
Review 4:Easy to find from train station. The place for the money is good for a one nighter.
Review 5:Could make more use of terrace specially at breakfast as it has a beautiful view of the river.
Review 6:The room was very confortable and very clean (cleaned daily). Its very central near everything and yet very quiet in the evening. Staff was very helpful and kind.
Review 7:Street in front of hotel was unexpectedly too noisy with traffic. Room window did not close very well and did not properly insulate the street noise. Hotel staff tried to help us solve the problem with patch solution that made little difference. The street turned more quiet at night. The room door needed a patch of folded paper to reduce the draft noise. Bathroom shower had a alarm switch without a string to pull it. Not sure if it still is mandatory.
Review 8:Excellent location in the Peso da Régua village, and near the river. It's good value if look the other side for some details. Staff was allways helpfull and nice.
Review 9:This hotel was probably "in" in 80s. The equipment is relatively old, no wifi in rooms, the staff is not able to recommend anything (wine tasting, restaurants etc), tiny walls
Review 10:very unfriendly staff. gives you no information on boats/trains to Pinhao or incorrect information (closing time swimming pool). They gave the feeling that every question was a nuisance.
Review 11:centrally located with parking space
Review 12:We have chosen this hotel because of it perfect location for the travelers of the Regua region without the car. It is located just in a 50 meter from railway station. It has big clean room and a nice view from the terrace where you could get breakfast. We paid for 2 nights 94 € with breakfast . Everything is near the hotel. Cafes, restaurants and so on. Also the nearest winery, Quinta da Pacheca is located just 3 km from the hotel. So we made wine tasting tour there by foot. I think this hotel has normal 3 stars. It has no lift, that is only that could be a little bit uncomfortable if you have heavy luggage.
Review 13:The wifi sign was weak in my room.
Review 14:The most important, the hotel is really close to the train station and the bus stop is in front of the station. Régua is a small place, everything is in a close distance. The town is a good basic point to visit to up on Duoro to the world heritage area. The hotel is a normal hotel, with big rooms. I'm travelling over the country, so compare the prices for example with Porto's offer a little bit high, but we can say the price/value is accaptable. The staff was nice. So I can recommend this hotel.
Review 15:Had to stand to use guest computer; front desk personnel a bit strange; poor breakfast; no elevator; hard to use tv
Review 16:Good location - a 10 minute walk to boat dock; quiet at night; room and bath were clean
Review 17:I had a room with a river view of which there are few....however the internet was intermittent.....but if you went to the common areas it was fine. To have the view it was worth the trouble
Review 18:Price and Location
Review 19:No easy provision for car parking!.
Review 20:Not pretentious!, (as good complementary toiletries as the 4 star Hilton !!). A clean, friendly environment where we felt safe and secure!.
Review 21:Staff onthe reception desk were not very helpful.Traffic in the road outside was very noisy particularly going over a loose manhole cover all night, would be greatly improved if they ever fix the manhole.
Review 22:Very convenient for the Railway station. Rooms quite reasonable, good air conditioning, similarly breakfast fine. Excellent value for money.
Review 23:Having to lug our cases up and down the stairs as there is no lift available.
Review 24:Excellent value for money, comfortable room, convenient location for the station, and the breakfast was pretty good too.
Review 25:Room had a strong smell of mustiness. A lot of noise from the street through the whole night, despite closed windows.
Review 26:Clean, friendly, good breakfast included
Review 27:Feels more like a low quality hostel. Dark rooms, creaking bed, the guy at the check-in wasn't the most friendly, the lady at the check out was friendly but didn't spoke English, the printer (for the invoice) didn't work. Less than basic breakfast.
Review 28:Relatively cheap.
Review 29:No lift, for me this was not a problem, but could have been for someone else. Road noise at night was a bit annoying.
Review 30:Friendly welcome, good Continental breakfast, although some fresh fruit would have been nice.
Review 31:Good place with a good value for money..
Review 32:Comfort of bed
Review 33:The breakfast was quite rich for a 2star hotel.
Review 34:Good central location for walking around Peso Da Regua. Older hotel but good value for cost.
Review 35:Nice room vrr confortable and very clean. Nice staff very helpful. Very central near everything in centre of Regua
Review 36:Location was convenient, close to the station. Only stayed one night prior to Douro River cruise.

Review 49:WiFi, location
Review 50:Wifi in the room very weak, but quite good in common area.
Review 51:Shower pressure excellent. Bathroom clean and modern. Comfy bed with nice sheets.

Review 53:4 private parking places in the basement (but arrive early). This was the 2nd time I stay there : this tells all.
Review 54:Centrally located. Very correct.
Review 55:Not much to do in town No elevator
Review 56:Location Spacious room Price is goog
Review 57:Excellent value for money. Centrally located. Clean and reasonable breakfast.
Review 58:Credit card machine did not work. Forced to pay cash. Seemed dirty And dark.
Review 59:Wifi did not reach into the rooms.
Review 60:The location - perfect as we wanted to stay close to the railway station.
Review 61:no were to sit and have a coffee to quite
Review 62:room was ok ,breakfast ok
Review 63:A bit expensive for the kind of hotel, which must have been needing a bit of renovation for a few years (eg: the room phone has the price in escudos, not in use for 14 years.......).
Review 64:Close to everything in Régua (which isn't that big) and convenient to walk from on the way the river cruise boats.
Review 65:Not a hotel to spend time in, views are blocked by other buildings.
Review 66:Good location if you want to visit the Douro region. Room was clean and plenty of space for 3 people. Very helpfull staff.
Review 67:Lady at the front desk was not very friendly and welcoming during check in. But could have been because of the language barrier (no english)...
Review 68:Clean, large rooms next to the trainstation. Price is good, breakfast is alright (could have some fruits or vitamins, but that's normal in simple places in Portugal). Restaurants, car rental and shops in walking distance.
Review 69:Old building with old furniture, on the other hand you probably can not expect much more for that price
Review 70:Location is fine, if you plan to explore the Douro valley
Review 71:Road noise outside our window was horrible (a road grate that made a loud clunking sound every time a vehicle drove over it). Could not get internet service in our room but could when we went to only one of the common areas. Had to have our key cards "re-keyed" once or twice each day.
Review 72:Loved Regua in general and this hotel was in a excellent location, except for road noise. The twin room was very clean, adequate in size with comfortable beds. Breakfast was ok, would have appreciated some fresh fruit. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Review 73:The concrete used to shep the building could have been molded much more beautifull without any costs. Not it is an office like building, cold, grey and unwelcome. Friendlyness is sober. I did not feel welcome. No enthousiasm for bbeing around. Very poor reception of WIFI in the hotelroom even though it is said good reception everywhere. Had to skype in the allyway....
Review 74:It is a good hotel for 1 night only. Very near to the station, clean and regular breakfast. Basic, so ok
Review 75:No lift but good leg exercise. Not a problem

Review 77:The Imperio Hotel is a perfect location to explore Regúa and the Douro area. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the room s are clean & quiet. This was the 3rd time that I have stayed at the Imperio Hotel.
Review 78:The person at the reception is Antipaticwifi is promised but works onlyin public lobby of the hotel .Very very poor breakfast.pay a bit moreand go to another hotel.
Review 79:The receptionist was unfriendly. He didn't even look at me while I asked. He was probably watching football.
Review 80:Clean room and good location, near the Regua train station
Review 81:antipathetic indifferent (2 different persons ...) attitude in reception problems with parking for those who care - no lift
Review 82:good location neat comfortable room easy to find basic adequate breakfast
Review 83:Some of the staff seem a bit off hand, but they do their job well.
Review 84:The price is very good, breakfast is fine for price and is typical for portugal. I can't understand the bad comments on this site about it. Close to the station and the quay and local restaurants. BBC Nesa & CNN available ob TV, Wifi. Good shower and toiletries also provided. Comfortable bed.
Review 85:Neighbors where very noisy. The rooms aren't that well sound isolated and we could hear people talking and doors slamming. It can be very irritating!
Review 86:The staff was very friendly and the hotel is well located in the city.
Review 87:We chose Imperial Hotel because we were going to visit Douro Port Wineproducer and Regua is a perfect hub between Porto and Pochino. The hotelis just 30 seconds walks from the station. It was great. Our room with view of the beatiful Duoro river...what else can we get ? good price and quality relation. comfort bathroom!
Review 88:There is no lift.
Review 89:It is cheap, cheerful and comfortable. It is right next to the railwaystation in Regua. The surrounding countryside is a short walk away, especially now that there is a footbridge over the Douro.
Review 90:The staff was cold and unhelpful. The space was rather depressing and smelled of smoke.
Review 91:The room was comfortable, if spartan, and the breakfast was nice, with surprisingly good bread on offer. Also, the location was quite good for those who want to stay in the heart of Regua, with direct access to the riverboats and small old town area.
Review 92:Guy at reception was surly and almost hostile. Couldn't be bothered to show me where the hotel car park was until I insisted. The buffet breakfast was poor. No fruit, little choice of bread etc. Very basic services. Although low cost, still not value for money
Review 93:The hotel is very central; 100 metres from the station and close to restaurants, shops and the river. The room was clean and the bathroom was modern and functional. Low cost
Review 94:The breakfast was awful - they ran out of cutlery, cups, and food. During the night there was a lot of banging of doors, running in corridors and shouting. This went on for several hours.
Review 95:The location in the centre of the town. Safe parking for our motor bike. The room was spacious.
Review 96:Only a few members of the staff spoke English.
Review 97:Very close to the train station. Great view. The staff was very friendly.
