Reviews for APA Hotel & Resort Tokyo Bay Makuhari
Review 1:The lack of English speaking staff is somewhat surprising considering it is a business traveler hotel. The bathroom wasn't very well cleaned upon check in, there was leftover hairs/build up in the corners and the overall look of the bathroom was dated and needed work. I would stay there again if I had too but I'd look around harder next time. Overall not impressed but not upset. Rating is "meh".
Review 2:The location and price is hard to beat for visit in the Auto Salon. 24hr Lawson also comes in handy and it's very close to the JR Line.
Review 3:I felt that the rooms were a little dry. They do have an air filter, but I didn't use it. The windows do not open so you can't get any fresh air in the main building, but I believe they open in the West Wing. It was quite warm this winter and the sun floods into the room, and as a Canadian it was too warm for me, especially after coming back from the hot spring. For some unknown reason the air condition did not work whenever I needed it. I had to constantly call them and ask them to turn it on. I have no idea why this was and should have asked. It was really my only primary complaint which is quite small.
Review 4:I would say that I liked pretty much every thing about the hotel. I stayed in a semi-double room. The bed was quite large for me. My room also had a sofa that could pull out into another bed and had hidden storage behind it. The sofa stretched the length of the huge bay window creating a wonderful nook area which had an amazing view of Tokyo Bay, Sky Tree, Tokyo Tower, and the rest of Tokyo. I was on the 43rd floor which was amazing. The elevator are high speed and sections go to different consecutive floors so there was never an issue waiting. The room had a nice bathroom and the fridge kept everything very cold. I turned it up too high and actual froze my wine. The most amazing thing was the onsens/hot springs. They have one on the 4th floor of the huge 50 floor tower (open from 2pm-2am)and another in the West Wing (open from 5am-2pm and 7pm-2am). They switch each onsen everyday for the men and women and they are somewhat different so it's actually like having 4 hot springs. The great thing is that it is completely free. It is a really nice way to start your day. You can use both hot springs and only need your key card for access whenever you need to relax. I actually never used the bath or shower in my room as you can take care of this before going for a soak in the hot spring. They also have a spa if you need a massage or other relaxing treatment. There are several restaurant on the top floors of the tower, but I never used them. They also have rental bikes just outside the West Wing which is easily accessed through a corridor from the lobby of the main tower. There are also two Lawson convenient stores, which have everything you need from beer, wine, snacks, coffee, ice cream, soba noodle, onigiri (rice balls with different ingredients), bread, donuts, coffee, tea, etc. They even have a photo copier (can use your USB), ATM, etc. The convenient store is quite cheap and it is open 24 hours.
Review 5:Our room was incredibly and uncomfortably very small, we couldn't even leave our luggages open as there wil be no more space to walk on. The 2 pillows provided were so thin, I even had to use my jacket as additional pillow for the head.
Review 6:bathroom smell not clean, lots of tour group.
Review 7:easy to walk from train station on pedestrain bridge, not too far around 10mins. I like most is mitsui outlet and near by lots of eating and I can walk to aeon mall. Sea view from room is wonderful, i can see fujisan and tokyo skytree. Bus to airport stop at hotel.
Review 8:I booked a 33m2 luxury room with seaview, but they give me 10th fl. on which I only see a little side seaview, because in front my room is a 12 story building . I feel angry.
Review 9:The guest in other room made some noise.
Review 10:- The restaurant "LA VERANDA" in 1F is very good! - Hotel room is very clean and neat. - There's a public hot spring for you to enjoy! - They provide an air filter in your room.
Review 11:Lots of queueing to check in - seems popular with tour groups. Good location if you need to be in the Makuhari/Tsudanuma area but wouldn't recommend for visiting Tokyo.
Review 12:Excellent breakfast buffet and room size by Japanese standards.
Review 13:A little bit off distance from the Kaihin-Makuhari train station....anyway, no big deal.
Review 14:The fantastic sea view from our room...could even see Fuji san.
Review 15:Slightly far from the train station by foot.
Review 16:Room was very spacious and clean. The view from our unit on the 36th floor was awesome! We were facing the sea and city and could see Mt Fuji! The hotel is also near outlet mall and there was a shuttle bus to the train station as well as to the airport.
Review 17:There was only one small pillow on each bed. Sitting up in bed was uncomfortable.
Review 18:The onsen inside the hotel was great, and the location was pretty good.
Review 19:Overpriced. No kettle and tea/coffee; no mineral water provided which I find unacceptable for the price paid. I stayed at Central Tower. Dressing table full of scratches, furnishing is outdated.
Review 20:Proximity to Mahukari Messe.
Review 21:would like to stay in high floor, did not have great view.
Review 22:Great facilities, the night duty manager helped me find my phone which was lost in a taxi. I cant thank him enough! Apart from that, great onsen! Love it!
Review 23:Wish we had free breakfast along with the room stay!!! Breakfast extra charges very very expensive
Review 24:Good location next to fair messe and kaihim makuhari station
Review 25:- hotel is quite far from Tokyo downtown
Review 26:- clean rooms - rooms and service in the West-Wing are better than in the tower (given room sizes seem to be wrong) - hotel has a bus service to Narita & Haneda Airport, Tokyo downtown and some other locations
Review 27:I wasn't aware you couldn't go into the public bath if you have tattoos. This might have been lack of research on my behalf!
Review 28:Great hotel at a great price. We upgraded to a delux room and it was a good size. The Keisei bus from the airport drops you off at the hotel and they also a shuttle to the local train station. There are some reports of a shuttle to Disneyland but this is not the case. A quick train trip is the best option. The Chinese buffet is a descent price.
Review 29:When I first reserved the room, the option includes sea view. I think many of tourist rent room in APA hotel because of sea view facility. My reservation also includes sea view. But when I went to reception, the lady provided me the room in 3rd floor and said to me that they had no room available for sea view. This is unprofessional and this lady should be punished / charged. Afterward, I showed them my reservation and then she gave me the room in 28th floor. Why did she tell lie to me ? I request the hotel authority to take necessary steps for that.
Review 30:The sea view is nice and attractive. Moreover, the facilities are also very nice.
Review 31:Caotic. I reserved a room with view to the see. I did not receive one. they told me at the reception that for that I need to pay ca 25% extra. So this was not the lack of availability. Desk service was poor. I got sick the last day and the hotel had no painkillers. I was advised to go 10 minutes in 38 degrees heat to the centre to get some. No conversion plugs for provided for Europeans.
Review 32:The different Japanes baths were very nice. Although no information on the room or at checking in for foreing visitors
Review 33:We were dumbfounded that we had to pay $17 per person to use the pool, so we didnt go swimming, so cant comment on the pool.
Review 34:This hotel suited our needs with location close to the JR line, and plenty of shopping within a 10 min walk. The staff were very accommodating to our needs as well, as we wanted to be located together in the one area, (all 8 of us).
Review 35:Desk staff needs a better command of English. Family would have liked a swimming pool for those incredibly hot days.
Review 36:Rooms were clean, comfortable. Good wi-fi service. Breakfast was excellent although expensive. Beautiful view from room. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staff were always pleasant and helpful.
Review 37:The food was a bit expensive at the pizza restaurant in the lobby and the rooms were a bit small. Also, it is supposed to be known for its spa, but it was so crowded in the public bath that I simply did not want to go. And this was at 12 AM.
Review 38:The lobby was really nice, there was a convenience store inside the hotel, and it had a shuttle that stopped right in front of the hotel for only 900 yen.
Review 39:Problems: The complicated WiFi which was different for the room and thelobby and caused confusion for the staff when trying to print myboarding pass. No facility for the guests to print their boarding pass. The top floor bar and restaurant seemed always full, while the Chinesebuffet was mediocre and closed at 8:30 in the evening. The bus to theairport was nearly full and took only 5 passengers, the rest were leftbehind with no help from the hotel. It turned out that there were spareseats inside but the driver didn't take more passengers because theundercarriage baggage holder was full. The situation could have beenhandled better as some had only hand luggage which could have fittedinside. There was a false fire alarm but for the first 10 minutes theannouncement was only in Japanese and the escape route was locked. TheEnglish announcement came eventually but by then frightened people wererunning up and down the corridor asking each other if anyone understoodwhat was happening. Very noisy at night (over-excited teenagers shoutinguntil 3 or 4 in the morning) but the hotel staff could have done morethan just knocking on their door and then giving up.
Review 40:Excellent spa and public bathhouse. Conveniently close to the Messe andthe train station. I would recommend the West Wing because it was newerand cleaner.
Review 41:Poor English of the staff. I've asked them to print one page but they couldn't help me. Very small rooms and terrible pillows.
Review 42:Excellent location. Very testy and various breakfast. Free onsen!
Review 43:Excellent location (the view on the ocean is amazing), very clean and tidy, staff is remarkably friendly and tactful - perfect place to spend a weekend in Japan
Review 44:We skipped breakfast because we were told it would be crouded. Expected the pool to be free for hotel guests.
Review 45:Fantastic view from the room. Spacious room, walk-in closet. Nice surroundings, beach where you can be almost alone, park. Outlet shopping nearby, if you are interested. Shuttle bus just outside the hotel to Narita AirPort.
Review 46:None, really. While the location might be a little'inconvenient,' there is a bus that stops at the hotel (forNarita, since I had to fly to Sapporo early morning of checkout), so Icannot really say that location was something I didn't like. I lovedstaying at this hotel and I would recommend it as well as stay again.
Review 47:Everything! I loved the view from my room and the hotel's proximityto Makuhari Messe. It made going to and from lunatic fest veryconvenient! The Lawson in the hotel was my favorite spot, I must admit.Very convenient, good food and coffee to purchase as well as other itemsthat I might have needed during my stay.
Review 48:Food at the pizza cafe did not match up to the price charged! Although the Lawson staff finally was helping out after I was waiting in line for many many minutes not to mention that she had skipped me and instead helped others behind me, I still feel that their staff was discriminating against oriental foreigners.
Review 49:free shuttle bus to JR station
Review 50:Not one person knew English.. Yes, I understand that it was theirCountry and I did try to speak a bit of Japanese however to have "NO" one know English for a Hotel that caters to so so manyforeigners .. Not a single channel in English ( News ) or anything.
Review 51:Location, Price
Review 52:Breakfast selection are exactly the same for the 4 nights we stays, food quality is average.
Review 53:Friendly staff, able to change our room from smoking to non-smoking.
Review 54:It is a big hotel so there were too many guests. The public bath is always filled with people but not the hotel fault though.
Review 55:The staff are nice and helpful. Easy to get there from tokyo and to the airport. Good view. Outlet shopping nearby.
Review 56:Rooms are tiny but not a problem as I traveled alone.
Review 57:Rooms are nice and clean. Staffs are friendly. The hotel is business oriented. They charge a low price probably because I traveled outside of the conference season.
Review 58:We kind of expected the swimming pool to be open. But that wasn't the case sadly.
Review 59:We came here on vacation and wanted to be close to Disney sea. I definitely achieved that as we were only 20 minutes away from the park. This hotel offered almost everything that it said it would from the booking.com website and we were very pleased with how lovely all the staff were. We were very happy with our stay there. Thank you.
Review 60:We requested for an ocean view but the receptionist didn't say that there is no available. Staff doesn't know to speak in english.
Review 61:The room was very nice and spacious.
Review 62:Our room over looks the Tokyo Bay. The night view was great. The hotel has several large public baths, all of which were really great. Limousine bus service to Narita Airport is right outside the door.
Review 63:WiFi was poor constant disconnecting
Review 64:The hotel room was probably my favorite part. For the price I paid I got a really big room with a very nice view of the Bay and the city.
Review 65:Really a bit to expensive for what you get. But not too bad. The apparatus to get the water flowing in the rooms bath is unnecessarily complicated. And the location seems nice because of the sea, but it's really somewhere in the middle of nearly nowhere, it's just other hotels around.
Review 66:Onsen (hot baths) were really nice Staff was helpful with luggage For a nice change, staff didn't ignore that we could speak Japanese.
Review 67:I was sincerely offended by the honsen politic of not allowing guests with tatooes in the hotel private baths. I know this is a common rule in public baths in Japan, but a hotel should act differentely. I has really displeased me.
Review 68:We had a room with a double bed in this luxury hotel for just 6800¥. A great deal for such a high quality service. It is very easy to reach from Tokyo and there is a useful shuttle service to and from the main airports. The surrounding area is full of restaurants and shops.
Review 69:Old Building. Staff couldn't speak English.
Review 70:Definitely Public Bath Good place to stay for Disneyland Direct bus from Narita Airport Convenience store on 1st, 2nd floor.
Review 71:- Heating/AC did not work properly. It was very hot in the room, even though it was freezing outside. - Tee/Coffee was not always refilled
Review 72:- Spa! The best thing about this hotel - Great breakfast, lots of choices - Fast and reliable WiFi - Very friendly stuff. - 10 minutes away from a train station
Review 73:The sound of wind is a bit disturbing. I stayed at 20F and wind seems to leaking into the room which is annoying on windy days.
Review 74:The location is excellent, you can get to Makuhair messe and JR Station through 2F skywalk. There is a 24hr convenient store at 2F and the free Japan style public bath at 4F is great.
Review 75:Beautiful view, you can walk to the beach, 50th floor restaurant had okay food but a beautiful view for amazing prices! Plus all you can drink alcohol. The staff was amazing, and helped us the whole trip.
Review 76:not being able to use pools because of tattoos. Breakfast could have more western variety but cant expet all the world to do so I guess.
Review 77:location, view, facilities (so long as unlike me, you dont have tattoos as you cant use the pools) breakfast was ok, but like most japanes places im finding not up to the standards of equal european hotels
Review 78:1. Cleaning service in bathroom was not good 2. Bed room and bathroom are so small 3. 47 floor Chinese restaurant was dirty.
Review 79:1.View is ok 2.Price is fair 3. Location is pretty good, not far from the subway station and pretty near premium outlets
Review 80:The frontline staff could have been more helpful - gave my friend the wrong room configuration even when shown the printout when we checked in. Also very rigid about checking in early - we arrived at 1pm and receptionist refused to allow us to get the room number - we said we didn't need to go to the room as we were going out for lunch. That meant that when the kids wanted to come back we had to check them in as it was in the adults' names. Also didn't inform us there was a regular hotel bus to the shopping area.
Review 81:Onsen was well run and clean. Beds were comfortable.
Review 82:Loved that it was near Makuhari Messe (My Destination) Right next to a station Great proximity to Tokyo Disney Clean room, Comfortable Bed, Good Breakfast and great staff!
Review 83:A little far from Tokyo Station, and downtown areas.Mostly business hotel.
Review 84:Awesome hotel,food,osen bath,,all great.The restaurant on the 49th floor,so nice,
Review 85:No gym. No english TV.
Review 86:The rooms were very nice. The bed was exceptionally comfortable minus the strange flat pillows. It was extremely easy to get to from Narita on the Keisa bus line. Cost about 10US and they it drops off right in front of the hotel.
Review 87:The bath is not really a bath if you are anything about the size of an average 7year old (but the shower was good, powerful and hot so not a huge loss) and the minight fridge in the room tended to freeze water/juice rather than just cool it.
Review 88:We were there for knotfest wgive was right across the road at the messi centre so location wise was brilliant. It's a lovely hotel, easy enough to get to and shuttle service to airports and stations running regularly. It has a mini mart inside the hotel which was always open and exceptionally handy. The rooms are not huge but by Tokyo standards they are ample. As a western group with luggage it was a bit cramped but that comes with the territory if you travel in Japan. Provided us with disposable toothbrush and toothpaste which was a nice touch and you get all your bathroom toiletries included, not just the usual mini bottles but huge pump bottles of good quality stuff. Also complimentary water each day if you choose the economy room cleaning service. All in all a very good, top tier 3 star hotel
Review 89:There are no rooms for 3, flexibility of choice is not available, so people travelling in groups of 3 have to book 2 rooms at the same cost
Review 90:The location is not bad
Review 91:Bed is too soft. Waiting for elevator on weekday mornings is terrible. I waited for 25 mins to go down on Friday morning.
Review 92:Room size is good for a Japanese hotel. Very clean.
Review 93:Only one thing I was not happy with After a long flight I was denied checking in early unless I paid a fee.. I have never in my life of travel experiences this before. If the room is ready then you can check in that is with any hotels I have stayed. I could not understand why they turned away so many people from checking in early and then come 2pm it was so busy for check in, just crazy situation you have there. So for this reason and this reason alone I will not stay with your chain of hotels again and will not recommend anyone who asks me to stay with you.. for what reason would you not allow your guests to check in early without charge if the rooms are ready, families with small children turned away to wait for 2 pm after a long flight. we cannot help the arrival times of our aircrafts and you should have more consideration for your early arrivals.. very very disappointed this ruined my Japan experience...
Review 94:The amazing 4 Japanese bath areas I had the pleasure of trying over my 5 days there. nice big corner room comfortable bed clean and excellent maid service location comfortable and quiet close to train station many restaurants around the area close to Disneyland
Review 95:- small 200 sq.ft. 2 twin bed room - no iron in room - supplied battery powered iron needed 3 charge-ups to iron 1 shirt - very small bathroom
Review 96:- very close to Convention center - convenient direct Keisei bus to/from NRT - excellent SPA - very good free WiFi
Review 97:Need to queue and waited for check in at 1400. Long queue and the front desk staff is still not fluent in English. Early check out time at 1100 am
Review 98:Near to the train station of Kaihimmakuhari, just about 7 mins walking distance. Free bus service from Tokyo Disneyland train station to the hotel main entrance. Also there is a bus service direct from the hotel to Haneeda Airport. The charge is 1150¥ / adult. Nice view of Tokyo Bay. Walking distance to Aeon Mall. Wifi services are excellent. Room is spacious for tripple occupancy. We are allowed to keep our laguage after checking out while we went out for a quick lunch.
Review 99:* The pillows were very flat, which for some people is fine, but in my case was somewhat uncomfortable.
Review 100:* Approximately 5 minute walk from Kaihim-Makuhari train station. * There are two public baths per gender, on different floors of the hotel. Therefore when one bath is closed due to cleaning, you can use the other, so you never miss out on a nice Japanese style bath. * Lawson convenience store in the hotel, open 24/7, great for midnight snacks. * Beautiful view of Tokyo bay, local parks and a large baseball stadium. * Close to bike rental (200 yen per day) for local sightseeing. * All the usual amenities provided, plus strong wifi connection.
Review 101:The wifi was very poor and the internet speed was very slow. Could not work in my room.
Review 102:Location from the nearby station Value for money Kind staff (Very much like rest of Japan)
Review 103:we were very pleased with our room yhe beds are very comfortable the staff was very helpful , the station is 10 minutes walks the only thing is the location as its in makuhari it was very quite nothing alot to watch or walk around but overall it was very good
Review 104:2 days i received mineral water from hotel. 3rd day i didn't receive. Suffocation initially due to air conditioning. I just hated wait time of about 4 hours for checking in although i reached at 10 am.
Review 105:Room Facilities Location
Review 106:Shame that the breakfast was on the first floor.
Review 107:You have a beautiful view on the tokyo bay. Perfect if you go to Disneyland. But far from Tokyo. There is a small outlet nearby (nike, adidas, levis, ...)
Review 108:Not the hotel's fault, the walkway to the hotel from the JR station can be really dark at night but still I felt very safe. Otherwise take a cab. The reusable slippers they offer in the room. Keep your key with you as it has your room number printed on it!
Review 109:22 min train ride to Tokyo Disneyland 24 Hour lawson think (7-11) Building is really tall - 50 Stories Basic room can fit no more than two people. Ten minute walk to the JR Station Japanese bathhouse on the 4th Floor main building. Much needed after a day at Tokyo Disneyland.Bathhouse Admission is included w the room rate. The train station has a lot of food and shops in all price ranges. Not to forget the gigantic shopping mall nearby.
Review 110:Check-in counter did not tell me which building my room is located because there are 2 buildings in hotel, and I had to go back to check-in counter to ask how to go to my room because I cannot find my room in one building.
Review 111:Some Front Desk staff had limited English. Rooms were very small even by Japanese standards.
Review 112:Close to train station Free Shuttle Bus to train station Free Wi-Fi West Wing Rooms were fairly new
Review 113:we did not like pillows. we wish you have better "makura" so sleep would have been better.
Review 114:We liked the view from our room. It was awesome!! The bed was comfortable and restaurants were good. The convenient location was really helpful.
Review 115:Very small rooms No CNN No Foxtel No English TV except overridden by Japanese dialogue Chinese buffet very poor
Review 116:Value for money & access to large shopping centre (Aeon Mall) were tops. Reasonable priced Pizza restaurant with high quality food. Easy bus & train service Friendly helpful staff View of Tokyo Bay
Review 117:I was disappoint with eating facilities all closing early. The upstairs " lounge" no smoking . Bus to train station not 24 hours. Pool open air no smoking.
Review 118:For my purpose it was good location for Disney Tokyo
Review 119:-room too small -not really clean -got Trainee at reception (needed help but nobody support)
Review 120:-sky lounge excellent -lawsen shop 24h -connection to exhibition
Review 121:I booked this hotel for one night as I was at Summer Sonic festival for the weekend and the bands I most wanted to see we're playing after the trains had stopped running back to Tokyo. It was very very expensive compared to anything I would ever normally book - but it was totally worth it. Hotel was lovely, my room overlooked the sea and the entire festival site, and it was so close to the site it was actually easier to get to some of the stages from the hotel than from other areas of the festival. Exactly what I needed, and the hotel looked after my baggage the next day until after the festival finished.
Review 122:- Very small room - TV has no English or chinese channel, only Japanese language programs. I do not know Japanese language/
Review 123:- Walking distance to convention centre - Many fast food outlets, supermarket and restaurant nearby - Clean and tidy
Review 124:It seemed like there was no aircon. In summer. In Japan. Ouch! Well, if there was one I couldn't find it!
Review 125:Close to the Makuhari Messe and the QVC Marine Field.
Review 126:Because the hotel has 50 floors, it was really hard to get an elevator to go down in the morning to check out as lots of people need to use it.
Review 127:The view from the 29th floor was great. The hotel is located 15 min. walk from the flagship aeon mall. The room was a bit dated but clean.
Review 128:The long train journey in and out of Tokyo. I paid extra for a standard twin but I think I was in an economy twin.
Review 129:Clean and comfortable. Fast lifts.
Review 130:pillows too thin, mattress is uncomfortable, price is too high when there is an event in makuhari messe
Review 131:clean, big, location, friendly staff
Review 132:No shuttle to stations
Review 133:Clean bathroom, public bath, comfortable bed and good food
Review 134:Internet always has some problems, made the connection not smooth
Review 135:Onsen is very nice!! Comfortable bed and stay!! Dinner is very delicious!!
Review 136:nice view
Review 137:Bathroom
Review 138:Location
Review 139:Lack of space for luggages
Review 140:Big bed, convenient to Narita
